In 1898, William Randolph Hearst helped start the Spanish-American War. Fast forward a century plus ten, and we have McCain helping to start the South Ossetian-Georgia-Russia war. Rarely are we treated to non-Presidents starting wars…

Mikheil Saakashvili, the President of the Republic of Georgia, is just a worthless, lying fascist war criminal. He ordered the pre-meditated slaughter of the citizens of South Ossetia with bombings and raids where Georgian tanks ran over people and Georgian soldiers set fire to South Ossetian churches and burned people alive. See the television news show, Russia Today or visit their web site, http://www.russiatoday.com for more details (note: not easily watched).

I wouldn’t normally recommend an article by Pat Buchanan but his piece at Real Clear Politics is exactly 180 out from McCain / Bush reaction to Georgia. Buchanan calls it “Saakashvili’s blunder” and speaks ill of “Bush, Cheney and McCain” and “Western hypocrisy”.

stolen election but the neocons in power…but that is not good enough …now they have to undermine public policy by illegally negotiating a defacto treaty with foriegn goernment president. The open amitted ats by NcInsnae an others violate the Us Contitution. McBame broke the law. (My bet is don ht Bush was in on this since McSame’s call to Georgian premier in April…yes April! That was for months why didn’t Bushco tell him to but out then? From Emptywheel yesterday;

The day of the call, a lobbying firm partly owned by the adviser, Randy Scheunemann, signed a $200,000 contract to continue providing strategic advice to the Georgian government in Washington.

We have elected official that are tasked with foreign policy and a DOD when it comes to war. These neocons are bordering treason if not over the line.
John Conyers when pressed on Democracy Now yesterday said he had no less than four committees working on illegal actions of Bushco. And he was calling them back from the break. We are in serious trouble.

God only knows what George the Turd did.

His people told Netanyahu not to bother concluding an agreement with Clinton because he’d get a better deal from them.

I guess IOKIYAR applies to the Logan Act, too. But usually they have the sense to keep it secret until after the election.

Free Market was instituted in Russia under Yeltsin inpartnership with a Milton Friedman econ team. They privatized the state industry and essentialt handed them to the Global Corporate Oligarchy.
OMG surprise…it did not make russia a better nieghbor?
After the shock doctrine of the 90’s and the conversion to market economy Russia’s econ is in the tank. Neocoms have it boths ways all the time. Russia, China and the USA are all moving to fascism like destitute Germany in the 30s. Fear, Fear, Fear is what NcSame and the neocons are selling. Time to invoke “Do the things you fear the most and the death of fear is certain,” Truly a lowly assualt on reason.

Does no one remember the Reagan team in 1980 interfering with the release of the Iranian hostages? Obviously this was done w/o the press that McCain has now, but it set the precedent.

I wonder if people should be so derisive about this ploy of the McCain campaign. They, and many in the mainstream media, are spinning it as “McCain is acting presidential. Oooh! Look at that!” McCain’s “base” seems to be loving it.

I think we need to look more closely at exactly how and under what circumstances this crisis was precipitated, and how much involvement Schenemann had and has. Would you put this past the Republicans, with Karl Rove advising, with the oil companies financing a potential McCain presidency? There is a lot of oil politics in that region.

Remember that appearances and images are everything to a lot of voters.
McCain sure jumped on that “We are all Georgians now!” didn’t he? Damn, that was curious. And John Bolton is lovin’ in! Just lovin’ it.

I don’t think people should take this ploy so lightly.

The extent of McCain’s involvement in the military conflict in Georgia appears remarkable among presidential candidates, who traditionally have kept some distance from unfolding crises out of deference to whoever is occupying the White House.

The “out of deference to whoever is occupying the White House” is key here. Doesn’t seem George is around much these days though he did make a cameo at the WH between Beijing and Crawford. And he was looking awfully drunk at the Olympics.

What do you expect, another Republican running for office.

First there was Richard Millhouse Nixon, under cover negotiating with the North Vietnamese, while a war was being waged.

Next there was Ronald Reagan who, undercover negotiating with the Iranians to hold hostages being held until such time they presumed office, undermining the incumbent President’s efforts for their release.

God only knows what George the Turd did.

Now you have a deranged, deluded John Straight-Fucking McCain, on the phone, giving promised he will not remember, to a neocon lackey to start a military campaign against an agreed arrangement for Russian assurance of peacekeeping.

Does no one remember shit there? Unbelievable! Archie Bunker had it - STIFLE!!!!
