While President Bush heads off to vacation chainsaw school for two more weeks, it occurs to me nobody really knows just how much time off he really takes anymore, although some people say Bush has spent 36 percent of his time, on vacation or at retreat places. Frankly I would love to go to the Olympics and practice looking inebriated in China and not call it a paid vacation too. What about the two wars or whatever the talking heads don’t want to call them this week? Are they not to be worried about since they are well funded with bipartisan support beyond January 2009? Meanwhile, Larry, Moe and Curly are playing "Shock Doctrine" diplomacy.
Somebody save me.
What’s on your mind tonight?

Worst. President. Ever. (and fake cowboy, to boot) — hey, ES.
Eureka!
Telling pups now…
well, there’s this:
Chainsaw Mama Blues
Good evening all.
Ha! I should have guessed there would be a blues song about chainsaws.
Forward that to Pickles, VG. *g*
ola ES
Hi ES…. saw this over on Thinkprogress…
How much of that is MY (and yours)tax dollars being laundried from Defense spending to contractor to the Repugs?
Aloha, ES! Gawd I love Joe Galloway…
Much more, the cost in travel, security, and whether or not he wore out AF1? Or paid attention to the number of his war crimes.
Larry, Moe and Curly….
LMAO …that is the PERFECT description of them
Huckleberry and RGJoe to Eastern Europe on behalf of A’mer’ka (whether we intend or not). And I used to be embarrassed about how America was perceived when Chimpy sent stooges…
sheesh
how presumptious of them to act all prezidental
We were asked over and over again while we were in Europe if we thought Obama would win…… they really are hoping that we can throw these bums out….
Digg!
Bizarro world, I tell ya.
How did you respond, katy?
arrogant, in fact!
Evening ES… Pups you can Digg it Thanks to Thomas Mifflin… who ever he is:>)
Will Thomas take a bow??
november can’t come soon enough for me. I’m tired of this nonsense. the next step is to ensure that mccain would lose senate re-relection. He hasn’t shown up to vote for 4 months anyway so obviouslt he is not interested in the job
Digg fixed.
and there us a certain amount of assiness, don’t ya think?
Katymine, 2003/04 xmas new year holiday in Italy, people would interrupt me in cafes or on the street and ask what’s wrong in America?
At that time, my simple answer was -the media, you don’t understand how little the American people actually know.
”God I hope so….” and then proceeded to tell everyone who asked all the dirt on McBush….. starting with leaving his first wife, Keating 5 & all the lobbyists ….. In Europe they do understand corruption…..
amen. got the same question in Germany. But it really wasn’t a question as much a declarative statement (Amuricans are stoopid)
Thanks Lurk
I’m actually pretty worried Obama might not win.. which is probably better than feeling like he will at this point.
Was it Teddy who recently reminded us, Dukakis left the D convention 17 points up in the polls?
well, he is past retirement age…
Italy for daughter’s wedding in May 2004, Italians looked at us with curiosity (tho some were angrier than curious) we kept saying quite truthfully “We didn’t vote for that man, George Bush” … at that time most people seemed to feel sorry for us. Don’t know what it would be like now.
In europe they also beleive that if you bring a scnadal or if there is even the appearnce of scnadal..people resign so as not to disgrace the party. While many did not understand the fussin about Clinton, they certainly did not understand why he stayed on instead of not in the end disgracing (by association) the dem party
Fortunately, I was in Europe during the Reagan Era and didn’t have to answer to much! However, I did find myself in a sticky wicket with the Pershing II debacle and seeing beaucoup ‘Raketan Raus’ signs while I was in a convoy of Patriot missiles…! ;-)
Italy should….. Berlusconi owns the media…. He is the Murdoch of Italy….
The guy who owned the hotel we stayed in near Lake Como was going on about the problems in Italy….. it started with ranting about the illegal immigration…. all the jobs have gone to China and tons of business have closed and moved to China…… and they have do do something about the illegals because of the increase violence…… violence against women….
Ok…. Elmore had to put his foot on mine so that I wouldn’t start with the undocumented rant …….. After passing through Switzerland and back into Italy several times and never a check….
OMG I found myself in the Arizona of Italy…
Would have saved a lot of trouble, though I am glad we Dems didn’t join the GOPers overreaction by asking Bill step down. And think how much more likely Gore would have been reelected! Damn.
men’s shot put on now…pretty cool
What does Raketan Raus mean, CT?
Most embarrassing was going through Frankfurt airport with signs saying, Don’t Blame It On Us — All These Silly Rules Are Required by USA…..or words to that effect. We tried to call upon our German/Danish heritage and look as non-American as possible so as not to get pummeled!
Rockets out, more or less…! ;-)
Oh egads my spelling at @ 30.
Ctuttle..wow nice LOL
now THAT is what has kept me awake on many a night
the first time…. I lived in Greece when Carter was President….. when Iran fell, the hostage situation….. Beirut bombing … in those days…. I tried NOT to look American….
love aimee mann…..since the 80’s……….such a disparate place that was, hard to find a place to hang your hat……now, 20 years later, people are listening …some things, you just had to be there to understand the breadth of it…i never believed that when i was young when it was said to me about woodstock and such, but nknow what they neant. weird.
wanted to surprise you the other night with my own very special music first you tube, but titles didn’t work right with imovie and it didn’t work, looked bare and lame, so, deleted it, later i will let you see it.
I’m glad they didn’t as well but I wish that he would have just stepped down. He diminished a lot in my eyes that day. it was selfish of Bill to not put the party first *sigh*
Well thanks. I really never thought about that point, until now. /s Good thing I stay up late anyway.
Did it work out for you?
(go brasil!!!! Cielho wins the gold…viva brasil….he beat that arrogant french dude)
This current Shiny Object, H/T LHP, in Georgia and Poland is the latest attempt to move the focus to try and help McStain and BushCo at the same time.
They are desperate to take the attention off the economy and the rapidly approaching global financial melt down.
They are stirring up shit that they have no intention of finishing.
The Asshole in Chief has 157 days left to wreak all the havoc he possibly can to shove at the next President and the plan to shit can the economy is going so well they have plenty of time to start little diplomatic brush fires.
True to form, Bush is poking the hornets nest again.
It’s hard to not look American with a crewcut…! ;-)
oh Cielho is crying…awwwwwww that is wonderful. The counrty will be so proud of him
Sorry about that…mr and I talk about that everytime the current preznitwit does something well bushy
Heading off to bed ….. Nite everyone…. sweet dreams…..
I guess this is the official olympic soundtrack…how terrifically cheesy
boa noite Katy
Aloha, katy!
Good night katymine.
That’s funny……. luckily we didn’t have that problem. But I actually did not feel that Italians or Germans hated the American populace….except that we weren’t taking care of our problem of a rogue president. You know?
Free yourself of all mental efforts…relax…let go
.
U.S. government declares war on the moon.
nite katymine
I haven’t read this completely yet, but some known troll on local blogs are starting to use it.. so it may be part of the newest disinformation efforts.
She declined not by speaking to him but by biting him in the genitals.
Muzzy! With the shrooom tunes.
Pretty much captures it, Busted. Or, Bush is back to blowing up frogs, with firecrackers. Same juvenile impulse.
ygm.
thanks eureka
aimee mann
80’s
back when it wasn’t ok to say things weren’t ok…..not ok to speak up back then.
younger women have no idea what was done for them to claim what they do now..no idea….and aimee mann is stilll kickin it home.
shy and stagefright and not taken seriously.
she had absolute steel balls.

sweet dreams. nite.
Chinese soldiers had to wear diapers for the Olympics opening ceremony.
Rense is right up there with the best of the disinformation organs.

You’ve outdone yourself tonight, ES!
that was my thought exactly, VG
I had a sneaking suspicion, thanks -G.
Want to help me clarify a part of the real story. How did this start? Was it the roadside bomb or was it direct gunfire on Russian troops?
Two names jump out at me there, Henry Kissinger, and Blackwater.
IIRC, KKKarl was there recently also.
Those people must be about as smart as a box of hammers to even let that bunch in the country in the first place.
I have been hearing a chorus on the right about an “Obama depression”.
There was even one tool that wrote that the Russians were acting this way because of a yet to be Obama presidency.
If he’s elected he’s going to be up against a wall of venom, hate and obstruction from day one.
Hense Limbaugh’s re-upping for 400 million. A daily hatefest.
-G
Dam with that rant I surely expected more of the People’s English /S
women’s heptaphlon…anyone know what that is?
I made wobbly laugh! Thanks, cleanth. I loved your garment in a fast food joint story earlier today. Did you buy it on the internet?
Seems like it started because Russia wanted it. Provocative – Russia had been issuing Russian passports to the dissident states for a while. It was only a matter of time. Could have been a bee sting.
In this household, we luvs Busted’s command of language.
Yep, and speaking of Patriot missiles, too…
One battery is pretty tame in the whole scheme of things… Usually, a battery has 8 launchers with 4 missiles per launcher, and the radar doesn’t cover a whole lot of area… A max. range of 500 miles in a 120 degree slice of the target area…
do you mean Heptathlon?
yep, he’s a man on top of his game.
I want more stories (credible) on backwaters role over there. Man we have to watch them in our sleep.
I think it is going to be almost imposible to discern. There are clearly Ossetes that were and are agitating against the Georgians. There is also clearly a Georgian leadership drunk on neo-con, right wing fluffer and puffery.
All that military hardware, all those US advisers and Israeli advisers.
When Saakashvili said he spoke to Veep Cheney several times a day, I knew he was a bad actor.
But the Russians also clearly wanted to show their might off and likely needed little goading.
They both got what they wanted, but it looks like Russia got the better of the Georgians. In a strictly, ugly Machiavellian way.
-G
About 30 men lifted a schoolbus to save a pregnant woman struck by the bus, enabling the baby to be born before the woman died of her injuries.
it starte dwhen georgia closed off all exits for citizens to exit but one, and then shot at them .
at least that’s where it started for me.
nite.
Aloha, dmac!
Yes but did Russia fire the first shot?
dara torres won the 50m. Awesome
that is she won her heat
It’s enough to piss Putie Pute clear the fuck off though.
Like I said, they are dickin’ around.
Not knowing how to say it better, exhibited great sportsmanship, too.
All depends on who you ask…! ;-)
And more to that story.
yep
woohoo track and field is on NOW
2nd round 100m dash
Sleep with one open
oh how sad and totally unavoidable
Well at least I don’t feel so stupid for not being certain myself. /s
Poor cow.
we be rooting for Dara
Is that really you, OKK?
DUDE!!!
Metallica?
YOU?!!!
THUD.
I obtain these and related garments from an Islamic clothing place called “SHUKR” and yes, they do have a website.
In solidarity with the Palestinians and according to my eccentric nature, I have worn a keffiyeh and igal (the headband) on appropriate (to me) occcasions, but I am afraid to do so now. As is Cristy, I, too, am alarmed and concerned at the recent uptick in hate killings hereabouts.
Country music just managed to suck a little bit more.
yes. sorry for butchering the spelling.
ES, I think Moon of Alabama has had the best coverage and assessments of the fiasco… I linked to the first article they did… Hit main and you can read their ongoing coverage…!
here as well. She is so strong.
We do also.. he just doesn’t use it all the time here:>) But at his house he holds no bars! That is unless he is leaning on one /s
my 80–in response to eureka 66hit me when i was heading for bed that i left out one important word…..edit and other frills not working., so, used caps.
it starte dwhen georgia closed off all exits for OSSETIA citizens to exit but one, and then shot at them .
at least that’s where it started for me.
nite.
brutal. I hope hannibal watches that.
I take it back – there is a God.
Hey we have eclectic tastes here in this house …. good music is good music… that is unless it is required you cry in your beer while listening to some of it /S
don’t worry about it. i had just never heard of the sport you were referring to. *g*
wow dude from Jamaica just looked like he was just jogging. wow
You know, sometimes I get busy with cooking or cleaning and lose track of the news, but has there been any outrage about McCain’s comment that We Are All Georgians? I don’t know where that wrinkly old white guy (as Paris Hilton might say) gets off. I just thought that was an astounding and inappropriate pronouncement. But, hey, maybe that’s just me and I should get back to swabbing the toilets.
That’s a tragedy since it waters it down…! ;-)
Exception: most “fine American lagers” could benefit from tears.
very cool. Be careful out there.
There are ‘fine American Lagers’…?
Here’s some country that definitely doesn’t suck.
ya mean butwiser and swillers??
Hah! Sorry for the untoward humor.
It is outrageous, seeing as Sen. Obama is still being flayed for prefacing his being a proud citizen of America with being a proud citizen of the world.
Only GOoPers can claim dual citezenship and get away with it I guess.
-G
Hence, the quotes.
I’ve done far worse to friends who’ve passed out.
OH shit!!
But, he slept in a Motel 6 last night!
Leinencugel? We liked it
Simpson declares “I will never do pop again”.
Simpson’s creepy father is said to be crushed.

Thanks. I can wear whatever I want in ES, but I would think twice before going beyond my hometown.
I will never forget walking into a furniture store on 9-12 in North West Arkansas (Springdale). the world was still so quiet you could hear a pin drop in a big city, mid day. Anyway, I was the only customer and this couple, obviously islamic and in very nice but full authentic garb walked in. After al the air sucked out of the building and began to return, i went over and talked to them. I can’t imagine they stayed in that town much longer.
There is a most wonderful poem entitled “The Chainsaw Dance” by New England poet David Budbill. He us the creator of the place he calls “Judevine”. After he made a play of it, it was performed to good notices. The poem first appeared in a book of the same name: _The Chainsaw Dance_, now op. _Judevine” is still in print.
I had to move a large part of my huge library to wareshouse spaces because of importunate threats from a pesky fire marshall, and I cannot lay my hands on this poem for Firepups tonight. I have such frustrations daily since the forced storage. I’ll try to get it for you in due course; it is wonderful.
David has also published a very marvellous book, _Moment To Moment:Poems Of A Mountain Recluse_ which takes its inspiration from the Cold Mountain poems of Zen recluse Han Shan. He does this very well indeed, and familiarity with Han Shan increases ones delight and admiration. Han Shan is very worth getting to know.
Yes, but she’s going country. Fark had the best ever headline for it though, which is a definite silver lining.
Here Wawawawawawawawawwaa
Hank Williams III?
fuck me, I’m getting old!
Did anyone else listen to Saakashvili on cnn last Sunday? He had a cell phone pinned to his ear despite being on video (which was odd in itself) pointing at a map of his country and showing mild panic. I was struck by the studio quality of the audio despite the use of a cell phone. If he was being recorded by a higher quality mic, why the hell did he have the cell phone up there other than to create an appearance of an assault by having his lines cut by the Russians ? It was like a phony that reveals itself as a production due to a dumb technical inconsistency.
Jerry Wexler dies at 91
Fear not, Busted. That was miserable. He can’t possibly last… /s
He’s stayed kind of underground, not exactly on the friendliest of terms with Nashville. He actually put out the first country album to ever have the parental advisory label on it.
Bocephus he ain’t…!
Busted was one of my first FDL friends, way way back.
I always learn something from him. I particularly liked the link he gave me to some “Latin”.
Illegitimi non carborundum or “Don’t let the bastards grind you down”
Two things, is it just me or has Christy Hardin Smith been wailing on the Snark lately?
I love that gal and she has been cracking me up the past couple weeks.
Number two, anybody heard from our transient friend Suzanne?
Not a country fan, I think I can look at him objectively…
More his grandfather than his father. Doesn’t play in the 21st century.
But then, I like old Fleetwood Mac and such. What do I know…
Suz visited in the last thread!
One of my personal faves…
Excellent, I’ve added that to my wish list.
I like it!
Heh, I like both kinds of music… Country and Western…! ;-)
She is at here new “Home” if I read her correctly on the last thread.
BTW. Shout out to VG.

P.S. Poland is agreeing to host 10 inteceptor missiles and part of the agreement is to have their defensive systems upgraded with patriot missiles. So the two are distinct.
The agreement is also a mutual assistance pact….So we’ll take on another burden.
I ain’t as stupid as I like folks to believe.
I grew up listening to it – Dad couldn’t get enough of Merle.
But it was a household of clashes of style.
how true busted! just reading your blog show that.
ES Best yet vetting of the Issue in the Black Sea. Troops already on the ground…Blackwater, Isreali military and a new US brigade armed to teeth (probaly special ops forces).
This is another act of aggression by Bushco in collaboration with Rove at Yalta, the Turks (Nato, the Georgians who attacked the Russian towns with rockets in South I.
The admin is starting a war without congressional approval during their recess. No PR run up like Iraq. This has to go to the UN Security council and President Carter needs to speak out. Gates id denying it all as it happens!
Where is Paul Revere the Amerikans are coming.
just how does one described country music? What elements make it country music? a certain beat? certain instruments?
Hey GregB/ aka GSD! Didn’t drive my rental car into a ditch this summer. I didn’t go to Maine, so I couldn’t explore that possibility.
Aah, GSD, I mentioned it at 74 already, ironically, that’s what Patriot missiles are… Interceptors…! But, apparently the media doesn’t have many weapon system experts amidst their ranks…!
Uh oh, did I contribute to blowing your cover?
He definitely takes after his grandfather, at least on the more conventional stuff. On the other hand, there’s songs like this one.
What?
You mean Peggy Noonan and Cokie Roberts aren’t perfect?
OMG! Where’s my razor?
If you listen to country music long enough, you hear your life’s story.
.
Well big brother, we better verify what that fellow says elsewhere before we take much of it as fact. it’s not a reliable site.. as you will see reading on down the thread, no doubt.
I’m eclectic in my tastes… I love everything from Bach to Bachmann Turner Overdrive… However, I’m hard pressed to find anything worthwhile from the current hip-hop/rap era…!
Patriots are short range as well, no?
here here!
And if ya play it backwards, ya get yer dog, truck, house and girlfriend back!
I keed, I keed.
Did you take a gander at MoA…?
or somebody’s life story, anyway…
Relatively speaking, about 500 miles…
Tuttle – just starting your piece from today:
Was Biden right?
Yes, I have it open now and that page in particular is very helpful.. It’s a really great blog.. not enough time in the day I tell ya.
Not sure, what did Biden say specifically?
Just my opinion, take it fer what it is, the Iraqi’s aren’t having any of that from what I see.
It is an awesome site! That was only day one reporting…! ;-)
It doesn’t help that hiphop/rap is in a very substance free ‘glam’ era as well. I liked the early stuff from the 70s to the 90s, but from about 98 on it became all about the bling, and nothing else.
I’m very eclectic myself, and my musical training has made me even more finicky than i would be without it. It also makes me cast far and wide to find good sounds, as i tend to listen to stuff from everywhere.
The bulk of the Iraqi populace agree with ya, BK! But, the PTB-Powers That Be have other designs…! ;-)
Biden’s stated plan for Iraq during his campaign for President was a 3-way partition. He either supported it from a pragmatic view, or he believed it would end up that way, so why stand in the way of the inevitable. At times I believe, he argued both positions.
Most excellent point, M’dear…! *g*
Country singers are like fortune tellers. They speak to the general human condition and appeal to certain commonly shared sentiments. Probably not exclusive to country music or fortune tellers, either.
.
A country was cobbled together by the Brits. Maybe that grouping would be better dispersed —- except are they clever enough to figure out whether or not they have the resources to succeed separately? Looking way ahead, and at the risk (but, hey, it’s late-late-night) of being skewered, I think we might consider whether or not California, for example, might actually wish to remain in the Union…..or might it wish to separate with its eventual majority hispanic population to go it alone? I tend to try to look down the road at possibilities. We are certainly living in interesting times.
DId you see the reports of Sadr asking everyone to take a blood oath today? Do you think it was symbolic or is he getting concerned/weakening?
Was over at Balloon juice and saw the link to the David Shuster interview with PUMAPAC. It was painful to watch.
owwww
Deep In It
.
Last I saw he was giving up the glamorous lifestyle of being the resistance leader and was heading to Iran to go back to “school”. God forbid.
The inevitable part is probably true, but, it is the least beneficial to the whole of Iraq… Kirkuk is a micro and macrocosm of what belies the future of Iraq… If the Kurds succeed in obtaining Kirkuk, the Turks and Iran will retaliate… If the Kurds don’t succeed and continue their current path the Turkomens and Arabs(both Shi’a and Sunni) will push for equal representation in the municipal and provincial councils through either elections or rebellion…
I fully believe that Neocons (like the Wizard of OZ) are behind the white house curtains, in the DOD, colaborating with Isreal and PNAC & AIAPC to move against Russia, They have the inteligence gbrought by 18 million Jewish Russian regugees in Isreal.
I think our government is being run to follow Regan policy as well as Isreali world dominance. I don’t care what sites say what ES. Therr is absolutely no doubt that since the Clinton presidency Georgia was an advanced site for American influence. We are at the Balkans, I do believe Sevatapol is a strategic Russian base that we want to Nuetralize. You/I/we have yet to see that plans that DOD, State and CIA have and what they have been doing there since the dissolution of the USSR.
I also am convinced the neocon think tank plans are being implemented in secret. One of the best ways to stay in control whike out od office is the engage America in something we can’t back out of. Weapons, resources and more lives spent without American public and voter support. If these issues are not extremely disturbing them to American where are we headed?
My question here is where in the heck to they think they have the money, people or hardware for this?
They have killed the National guard already.
Ditto!
BlackWater…Where else… Why do you think that company was formed???
Actually, that old news… Here’s a good take on it…!
“Lost and Found”, of course.
now for some Georgian music
Busted, CT and ES
Did anyone watch Bill Moyers interview with Colonel Andrew Bacevich. He lost a son in Iraq. Made a strategical criticism of American International policy and what he calls “Full Spectrum Dominance” and provacative wars.
http://www.pbs.org/moyers/jour…..watch.html It has two parts.
He addresses your concerns in his book “The Limits of Power”.
I believe Ike’s warnimgs of the Military Industrial complex back his view. He is also a Vietnam Vet.
That bunch is going to get it’s tit in a wringer by biting of more than they can chew.
Mercenaries are famous for their code of ethics under fire.
They want caspian sea oil control (and uranium etc.) at any cost in our money or all human suffering. This I believe.
I’m watching it as I type…! Being so time zone challenged and all…! ;-)
boa noite folks
I have a bit more reading to do before I turn in for the night
Yeah right code of ethics my ass .. more like if it moves shoot it and then pin it on someone else or put guns in their hands….
It was an excellent hour.. One of the best since Moyers returned to PBS.
Aloha, wobbs!
good nite WB.
nite wobbly
more St. Germaine: jazz or dance ?
“It was fraudulent for us to consider ourselves dominant militarily…” Amen, Bro…!
ditto wobbly… sleep well
Something new I like. Thought of you when i heard it. may be a band worth watching.
We missed your comments Wob you add an interesting perspective culturally and intelectually. Read well, learn much and then expand our conscience. Sleep deep abd the kittys as well.
If this country is not careful we will end up as
Btw, this noise pisses me off to no end…!
Yeap, I’m about done here too.
I do want to say that I get tired of trying to second guess these assholes.
In my gut, I feel that this is a contrived crisis, that the neoCons and the top republicans and their Think tanks are behind all of this for two reasons, to try and take peoples mind off the economy swirling the bowl, and my wildest tin foil theory, they are setting this up so McStain can come up with a brilliant cure for the contrived mess to bolster his “Commander In Chief” cred.
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
Good nite Pups.
just for fun
ES = champ
buenos sueños a todos
night Busted…
Excellent late night groove ES, Saharan Swing, fine musicians!
Hitting the wall myself.
Good night fabulous firedogs.
Aloha, BK! I shall join ya out the door! I bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
ES: the conceit (this is not the same word as conceited!) of the poem “The Chain Saw Dance” is that these New Englander woodsmen set the carburettor on the cahinsaw rich so that the saw misses and bucks and splutters; that is the rhythm section for their dances.
If you like this sort of poetry (and it is primo), you really ought to have a look at a most wonderful book of poetry by Hayden Carruth called “Brothers, I Loved You All”. This book is filled with eccentric New Hampshire types, and also with jazz musicians. Carruth has had a long and fecund career. He did time early on in the nuthatch, major depression if memory serves, and he wrote tellingly about it; and very movingly. He has homesteaded, and has published many other books of poetry. “Brothers…_ remains my favourite. There have latterly been published two volumes of his longer and his shorter poems, and you can find most of this material in those as well. That they have been remaindered is a sad scandal, but conduces to your good fortunme at the book shops, ES.
Carruth has done the best anthology of modern American poetry. Called _The Voice That Is Great Within Us_ out from Bantam Books. Regretably, the recent reprintings have utilised plates past their discard date, and the type has spread. But you can pretty readily find earlier printings at good used book stores. It is still in print, btw. Long may it attract readers.
These things seem to interest you. Should I set up an email address for your use in furtherance of such discussions?
LOL!
nite busted, tuttle
nite eureka
night pups time for me to let my brain get some dreaming in….

One last comment; When a fighter feints (fakes) a punch one too many times he gets coldcocked by a shrewd opponents. Exactly what Bushco has done…this time the bluff is going to be called all around.
Hey George we aren’t in Texas anymore. We are in the ME and Russia time to sober up.
Good night Lurking Mod.
Good night Bustednuckles.
Heading over to your place, once the relief shows up.
Just call me Busted, it’s easier to type.
Thud.
Get this, not only did McCain run off with a wealthy younger woman after his wife was disfigured in an auto accident…but after the divorce he and his mother SUED his ex0-wife for some exagerattedly inflated items Carol McCain had kept after the divorce.
You would have thought this would have been chump change from a guy married to a multi-millionaire. This says something about the vindictive nature of the McCain clan.
McCain and “Ma” don’t recall suing ex-wive, but records prove it!

Actually, reading more carefully, it’s John’s Mom that doesn’t recall the lawsuit that SHE issued. McCain’s staff called that one a “mistake” (yeah…in retrospect).
More interesting was that John was considered anathema by folks like Ross Perot and the Reagan’s after his dismal mistreatment of Carol McCain. The Reagans hired on Carol after John divorced her. And the second lawsuit was over many personal items Carol had collected over the years that were tossed by an errant house-cleanup.
Scum does rise to the top, particularly if it is Republican.
Maybe they’ll ask him how wearing a sarong makes someone “Muslim”? That was one key bit of evidence that Corsi used in his indictment! Of course, throughout SE Asia men, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian wear sarong…it’s handy.
Hmmmmm, define “good”, darlin’. *g*
One can only hope there’s some callers who will rip him a new one. Followed by MM, each for 45 minutes; let’s hope Waldman is well up on his talkin’ points.
That goes right in the YJCMTSU File, because you just can’t make this sh*t up.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert today in the NYT. La Collins writes about “The Denver Accords,” and says that the majority of Hillaryites seem to accept her nomination at the convention as an indication that their heroine will get the proper respect. Mr. Herbert asks “How About the Home Front?” He says Senators Barack Obama and John McCain must pay more attention to the nation’s neglected infrastructure needs.

The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got apple walnut muffins just out of the oven. It’s errands day today — food for the tigers, bird seed for the feeders, and groceries for the humans. Speaking of bird seed, I wonder why those 4 cardinals are squabbling over 2 feeders with sunflower seeds when about 25 feet away there are 2 other sunflower feeders with no birds anywhere near them… I guess they came up with the phrase “bird brain” for a reason. Have a great day.
Ain’t that the truth! How does one “unintentionally” file a lawsuit?
I think you begin by unintentionally hiring a republican
solicitorlawyer. And then ….Good morning.
Time to pull up a chair

Good morning eCAHN
This was found in The Timesonline this morning, looks interesting, a 0.2 % decline in economic activity over three months can cause such a dislocation in currency valuations. Seems a bit queer.

I have not been following this stuff closely, so consider my response as suggestive and general rather than dispositive. Also, I never was an expert on currencies.
The USD has been extremely weak for a very long time. My guess is that it got overdone, as all market participants kept focusing on what’s wrong with US economy & policy & not on what was happening in other countries. That might have given a bubble like aspect to the values of the pound & euro. But not all is well in the economies on the other side of the pond, so at some point those situations must reassert themselves. And when a bubble breaks it is sometimes dramatic.
