Had quite an ironic interchange with my army major efriend, who was eintroduced to me as anti-Iraq War.

At one point I sent him a video of walls in Baghdad. He responded snarkily with his thinking about them as gated communities.

I responded that,interestingly, I had been thinking about the meaning of walls: Berlin, Israel, Latin America, gated communities, and concluded that the meaning was: failure.

So not only does war represent failure, so does its more benign manifestations.

Wow the sunset on the backbay was a perfect picture and shutters were clicking. One was a photography teacher with 10 Mega pixels. The breeze was very light almost glass water as I slid the scull into the breeze. 3+ miles under 600 strokes. It was perfect conditions the light was nice as the sun eased down to the horizon from behind the high clouds. The water was warm and the boat was willing. After I did a little receational row to lose the lactic acid and enjoy the setting sun, the shore birds and the surrounding shoreline. A truly magnificent evening. Hope yours was as well. Will sleep deep with lungs opened. The planet is not for war or profit it is to enjoy mother earth and appreciate her beauty and bounty.

This IS a union job, LooHoo. That’s the main reason i have some decent medical insurance. The can bargain well for that, but the wages leave something to be desired since this particular retail chain seems to have the worst reputation in the UFCW when it comes to bashing out new contracts. We expect them to fight new terms until October(as usual). Our contract ended in july. We still have our benefits, but we won’t see any type of wage raise(and even then we’ll be lucky if they let us get any higher than 40 cents for a raise) until about that time.

I’m hoping they’d actually be smart and let us get 1 or 2$ or so more to make up for the last two hikes in minimum wage–but i doubt that will be so.
Especially for this company. So i’m still applying elsewhere, and we’ll see if i find a job anywhere else that offers me better pay. Most of the actual grocery chains treat their pharm techs and pharmacists pretty good too(and actually PAY higher), so that’s one of many options i’ll be working on.

Imagine a country like America not offering healthcare with diseases like we are facing. Totally off the wall! Keep fighting, alias. You are one of our experts.

I cannot say enough good things about Kaiser Permanente. My good doctor made sure I had the shots to travel to Panama so that I couldn’t bring any diseases back to America. No other heath care I’ve had has bothered with this. Kaiser is all about prevention.

Stevens’ attorneys today invoked Senatorial Privilege – the exec branch can’t touch the legislative, no matter WTF. It won’t work. But it might drag out his “speedy” trial, which he requested, to end up ending about the end of the third week of October.

I have no idea whether or not Young is next. But my candidate – Diane Benson – is being thrashed in the polls. She’s way behind the well-funded Rahmbot, Ethan Berkowitz in the only poll taken this year, two weeks ago, by a pollster who has been holding fundraisers for Berkowitz.

I think Alaskans, if given a choice between a fresh, clean candidate and one so sleazy and corrupt, he never leaves his criminal defense attorney more than five feet away, will take the latter every time.

From the other side, Kaiser Permanent is impossible to work with if a client is injured and an attorney needs records and billing. They just blow off any responsibility toward their patients …. drove me crazy to get client records so that I could defend their injuries and costs to insurance companies. When my own health care group got bought out by Kaiser Permanente, we all went to other HMOs for our own sake.

Dang it, I haven’t been able to get MSNBC online since I’ve been in Panama. Apparently there was some good juice on polling too, which I haven’t been able to get. Anyone able to give me this info without links?

I’m stuck with AETNA for my med coverage. Thankfully my Doc excellent, but is rather harried and always busy. Mostly because he’s actually good at what he does, and is honest when he can’t figure something out. That’s how i got my particular Ob/Gyn that helped me diagnose(and so far successfully manage) my endometriosis. My Primary helps me manage the asthma and anything else that crops up, but we’re especially big on preventing acute attacks on both counts. He gave me the reference call to set up with this Ob/Gyn the first time.

Which means i work closely with both of them with my pharmacy knowledge, and we figure out what works and go with it. My doc knows i don’t come in for sniffles, just for stuff that gets through my usual ‘firewall.’

Right now? Time to listen to my system, which is telling me SLEEEEEEEEP. *yawns and wanders off to bed*

Hmm, I haven’t been involved from an attorney’s point of view. All I can say is that since I became a member of Kaiser (last January) they contacted me about getting tests done that are appropriate for a 55 year old. They sent me for whatever tests they deemed necessary, let me choose convenient times, and did it all quickly and respectfully.

Each separate speciality is located at different centers. I can call a Kaiser receptionist and I get whatever I need.
