Wow. That was really interesting. A lot of it sounded eerily familiar…like disappearing documentation, making deals in exchange for no prosecution, etc.

Well, perhaps Target wanted the guy to confess in front of the other employees…sort of like the good ol’ Communist style public humiliations. In addition, I wonder if the management threatened some sort of collective punishment if the “guilty party” didn’t come forward. It seems really odd that he would have done this escalation otherwise. That would explain not only why he confessed, but the manner in which he did it….and the references to the place being run like a sorority or a bunch of jocks.

Still, how any of this relates to the later killing is befuddling…unless the guy wanted to target a major individual and go out in a blaze of glory?

Catch of the Day?

McCain just said on CNN, “In the 21st century, nations don’t invade other nations.”

I wonder if McCain, like Pope Julian, is intending to make a revision of the Calendar to make the century begin sometime after March 2002?

Seems he’s forgotten about Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel’s invasion into Lebanon, Turkey’s invasion of Kurdistan, Thailand’s incursion into Cambodia, etc.

We’re told they asked if whoever wrote the graffiti to step forward and admit it and he or she wouldn’t be fired.

Does signing a second piece of graffiti constitute stepping up and admitting it? Appears to be an angry and in-your-face statement to me.

I think that we can clear Michelle Malkin of any involvement in Gwatney’s killing.

After all, his killer, Timothy Dale Johnson didn’t like cheerleaders.

Store managers called a meeting. We’re told they asked if whoever wrote the graffiti to step forward and admit it and he or she wouldn’t be fired. Our source says store management later found the same graffiti signed and dated by Johnson.

Over the next hour or so, Johnson’s co-worker says he wrote on a door and another hallway again with objectionable words. “Target is run by dumb jocks and sorority *******.”

A third graffiti was found on the human resources door saying, “sorority *******.” Our source tells us that management talked with Johnson and then Johnson stormed off and left the building.

So that pretty much would exclude Malkin…unless of course, Johnson thought the proper role of sorority ******* was as a political blogger.

And it seems that Target lied to Johnson. They first said that whoever wrote the grafitti wouldn’t be fired if they fessed up. Johnson signed and dated a second bit of grafitti.

Then Target asserts that Johnson “resigned voluntarily”.

Target released the following statement Wednesday night. “In regards to the suspect, we can confirm he was an hourly employee at the Conway, Arkansas Target store since November 2006. He voluntarily quit his job earlier this morning. He had no history of behavioral or performance problems at Target. In the preceding days, he worked his regularly scheduled shifts without incident.”

We’re told they asked if whoever wrote the graffiti to step forward and admit it and he or she wouldn’t be fired.

Oh right, he “resigned voluntarily”.

OT. I knew we were in trouble but…. from today’s CPI news

During the first seven months of 2008, the CPI-U rose at a 6.2
percent seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR). This compares with a
4.1 percent increase for the 12 months ending December 2007. The energy
index rose at a 33.1 percent SAAR in the first seven months of 2008 after
increasing 17.4 percent in 2007. Gasoline prices increased at a 35.2
percent SAAR in 2008 after a 29.6 percent increase in 2007, while natural
gas prices rose at a 71.3 percent SAAR after decreasing 0.4 percent in
2007. The food index has increased at a 7.6 SAAR for the first seven
months of 2008 after increasing 4.9 percent in 2007. Excluding food and
energy, the CPI-U has advanced at a 2.5 percent SAAR following a 2.4
percent increase in 2007.

November 2002 and After: Karl Rove Concerned about 9/11 Investigation
Edit event

Presidential adviser Karl Rove is concerned about the 9/11 Commission, which is soon to be established (see November 15, 2002). Author Philip Shenon will say this is because he thinks that “in the wrong hands… [it] could cost President Bush a second term.” According to Democratic Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, Republican Senator Trent Lott says that behind-the-scenes opposition to the commission’s creation is orchestrated by Rove and the White House’s political office. “It’s all Rove,” Lott tells Daschle. Rove is also involved in the selection of the Commission’s initial chairman, Henry Kissinger (see November 27, 2002), and his successor Tom Kean (see December 14, 2002)

There was no love lost between the Kennedy’s and Hoover. The old hands at CIA had all come out of OSS. Talk about an old boy network. Like our lovable neocons today these guys had their own vision of a world controlled by the US. The Kennedy’s didn’t fit in.
