ROBERTS: So it’s clear you have no regrets in saying that the U.S. could be in Iraq for a hundred years.
MCCAIN: The U.S. could have a military presence anywhere in the world for a long period of time.
"Country First" adorns the masthead of McCain’s website — and he’s produced commercials with that theme as well.
So, like Stony Pillow, a commenter at my regular blog, I have to wonder…
In a conversation with the Tribune, McCain said he has spoken to the Georgian president every day.
The situation in Georgia remains fluid and dangerous. As soon as possible my colleagues senators Lieberman and Graham will be traveling to Georgia.
…that comes first?
We know which country did not come first in August 2005:

The Georgia scam: getting them to attack the Russian Federation knowing they would get tromped.
Why would the USA’s DOD and CIA want to do that? False flag ops in the Russian sphere of influece is provacation of the first order. Training Georgian troops to move agressively against Russia? This is another disturbing secret plan in a portfolio of plans hatched in the White House or PNAC or some neocon think tank. Once orchestrated USA would have to back this allie in theory, what comes next? At what cost to whom?
Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, the Muddle East then North to Georgia nieghbor of Chesnya. Seems a domino strategy of foriegn policy. One that has never had formal congressional approval. What is the Senate Foriegn relations committee doing…twiddling thumbs. The Russian have a common enemy in Jihadists as does the West. So why is this being done?
If it will help clear the water, Seumas Milne over at The Guardian has an analysis and background of the Georgian issue

which seems coherent and consistent. For your edification…

Only 6 of 9,397 claims by 9/11 workers have been settled
From GovExec:
The insurance company established by Congress to help New York City and its contractors handle claims arising from cleanup after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is operating as designed, auditors stated in a report released on Tuesday.
The World Trade Center Captive Insurance Co., funded for $1 billion by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in 2003, has settled just six claims out of nearly 9,400 filed by workers who say they are suffering health problems as a result of their jobs.
That paltry record prompted Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., to ask Homeland Security Inspector General Richard Skinner in July 2006 to investigate the insurance company.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Kristof today. La Collins produced “I’m Singin’ in Beijing,” in which she says the idea that appearance is valued more than performance is one of those painful facts of life that people always hate to be reminded of. Mr. Kristof’s column is titled “After the Games, Tibet.” He says it is now up to China to accept the Dalai Lama’s visit this fall and engineer a deal to resolve Tibet’s future.

I can’t believe Bush is STILL SHORTING THE LITTLE PEOPLE! How many years does it take him to accomplish a mission, I’ve seen teenagers procrastinate less over cutting the lawn!
I wonder how the Katrina people are doing have their homes been rebuilt yet?
How about all that faulty wiring in Iraq thats electrocuting our troops its all been junked and replaced by the best Union Contractors right?
Forget insurance it doesn’t work they make money as long as you keep paying and they keep denying your claims. 9,400 9/11 workers are sick either we get National Health Insurance or the Freakin NeoCons could let them go to Cuba for free treatment.
Come on Obama defend the insurance companies! Come on McCain where would you be today if you never got medical treatment after the war!
When we forget our own we forget ourselves.
When the Banks needed money the Fed was all over it Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae they got their cash and quick.
9/11 workers still waiting, is Bush going to turn this problem over to Obama?
Just Where are the Spineless Democrats in Congress Impeach the Chimp now for being Incompetent! If this does not qualify for incompetence then what does?
Does the Chimp have to Burn Washington D.C to the ground while playing the fiddle before Nancy will do something.
9/11 workers in New York are still not getting treated! New Orleans people are still waiting for their homes to be rebuilt.
How many cities have to fall before Congress will do something.
Nancy Pelosi worse Speaker of the House Ever!
this Congress the most Chicken Shit EVER.
Bush worse President Ever!
“Country First” adorns the masthead of McCain’s website — and he’s produced commercials with that theme as well.
What Country first Iraq?, Georgia? cause it sure as hell isn’t New York it is not New Orleans there is a Blue America, a Red America, and a Rich America
Bush/McCain only govern for the Benefit of Rich America.
Tax cuts for the rich so we can afford to outsource jobs!
That’s right Attaturk. When Americans were drowning in their attics down in New Orleans did George Bush or John McCain say, “We’re all New Orleans today”? Nope! They ate cake and sang songs! There must not be a ton of oil in the ground in New Orleans as there is in the country of Georgia. Spit.
Rosemary Watson has given us a new video! She is absolutely hysterical and I’m hoping she’s going to be the ‘light’ this year during the election season. We’re going to need her.
Here she is in her latest video as Cindy McCain taking on Paris Hilton:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1647xFnje0
You can view all of her hysterical impersonations (she does Hillary Clinton to a tee!) here:
http://www.youtube.com/thathillaryshow
She was also written about in Washington Whispers/US News yesterday:

The USofOil is trying to sew chaos in the caucuses so that they can surround Iran and eventually occupy the entire region with military to stand guard over the oil that they want to get at.
Why should ANY nation have troops on foreign soil? OK perhaps a border dispute….maybe. But we have no business sending our GIs and bombs and operative around the world… unless we are doing it in support of the people who are throwing off a dictator or occupier or some other oppressive force.
In a conversation with the Tribune, McCain said he has spoken to the Georgian president every day.
Following Senator McCain’s comment the other day that “We are all Georgians”, President Mikheil Saakashvili today called on McCain to put his money where his mouth is. Saakashvili said it’s time to transition from “words to deeds”.
http://www.examiner.com/x-243-…..to-Georgia
So just what is John McCain going to do everyday this invasion of Georgia goes on his Foreign Policy Cred disappears a little more.
Wasn’t that McCain’s only advantage over Obama.
Sorry McCain knows how to win wars!
I bet there is not a Russian today who can say that phrase with a straight face. I bet there isn’t a Georgian who is going to vote Republican, the Ukraine and Pole hard core anticommie vote is going to start going our way too.
The GOP is going to lose the hardcore anticommie vote if this keeps up.
I never thought that we would pick them up and with them we get a bunch of NRA people.
After all McCain has made a stand on Georgia but if he punks out well the gun folks are not going to understand, best McCain can hope for is that they stay home.
The USofOil is trying to sew chaos in the caucuses so that they can surround Iran and eventually occupy the entire region with military to stand guard over the oil that they want to get at.
Well that is the plan but its not going so well in Georgia. Bush’s mistakes are whats bringing him down not the Democrats (sob).
We must replace Nancy and Harry!
I wonder if John McCain said during one of his phone calls to the Georgian government:
“Hey, can you allow Russia to stormpede your border so I can use the moment to make myself look like a foreign expert dynamo? Barack is on vacation and I need to do something really heroic to outshine him! He’s raising millions for crying out loud and he isn’t even moving around! He’s just standing there on the beach!”.
Wouldn’t surprise me.
The best government money can buy.
Everything is for sale.
Market capitalism gone wild.
Never give a sucker an even break.
McCain’s top foreign policy advisor is an agent of a foreign government whose president wants us to attack Russia.
The bargains never stop.
Did you watch Condi Rice’s presser yesterday? Wow! She is still in right wing LaLa Land and can’t seem to notice her own hypocrisy when she talks about Georgia’s sovereignty, how she doesn’t want innocent people killed because of what Russia wants to do, and thinks it’s a bad idea that Russia doesn’t have a noble reason to do what they’re doing!
Huh.
Was she around when George Bush was doing the same thing to the Iraqis? Guess not. She’s the Secretary State of Confusion and plays the part well.
By the way, her spaced-out/brainwashed eyes are still there. I swear I saw a key end sticking out of her back yesterday. It was moving too.
Attaturk, Georgia IS in this country, what are you griping about?
McCainus uber alles
That was Hilarious. Keep linking so the day people can watch.
At this point, Barack Obama could send his pet dog to Georgia to handle things and the whole world would go wild. Poor Johnny McTeleprompter. He sends over 2 Warmongering Right Wing Lying Dumbos and can’t understand why he’s not being run down by 250,000 people with microphones! Love it.
OT: Michelle Malkin knows that the death of Bill Gwatney is all about HER…
Criminy what a narcissist.
Thanks for watching, ThingsComeUndone! I stumbled across a couple of her videos a month or so ago and have been addicted ever since. She truly is hysterical and we will definitely need her humor to get through this year’s election. Whew. Boy do we need her. ;-)

Makes you wonder if the RNC sent out an email to their neck drooling underlings saying, “If you lose your job, it’s the fault of the Democrats”, to deflect the real reason people in our country are losing their jobs:
GEORGE BUSH & DICK CHENEY’S ECONOMY
Huh. I wonder. The republics can’t take responsibility for their atrocious policies so they have to blame someone and it obviously can’t be themselves! Assholes.
I bet if Michele Malkin lost her job, she do a post telling her readers that she’s going to gun down a bunch of Democrats out of retaliation and will then ask her readers to do the same.
Guns & religion is all the right wingers of America cling to. Barack was correct and the right wingers of America will continue to prove this too.
No TV I’m holding out until the Presidential debates.
how she doesn’t want innocent people killed because of what Russia wants to do,
Georgia attacked South Ossetia the Russins warned Georgia not to, is Condi high? maybe she should read the blogs
and thinks it’s a bad idea that Russia doesn’t have a noble reason to do what they’re doing!
Condi protecting minorities who want to be free is a good reason to invade remember Iraq, remember the American Civil War in history class?
Protecting the Kurds and stopping a civil war are the only 2 reasons we got to be in Iraq.
Although neither reason was mentioned before the war. That and sooner or later we will have killed and or tortured more Iraqis than Saddam did and we hung Saddam for that.
So Condi if you deny the Russians the right to protect minorities then maybe we should leave Iraq?
Please don’t bother to say but thats different just go buy some shoes.
Its Drugs I tell you DRUGS Drugs! The lady is paranoid like a Rockstar! She is as confused as Paris and Britney after a binge.
Although to be fair Paris talks politics much more sane than Michelle, maybe Paris should talk politics more and Michelle can party with the stars and say any crazy thing she wants.
Michelle has a look in her eyes that says don’t let her near the steak knives when she is angry at someone. The problem is that Michelle is always angry.
What sane guy says hi Mom look what I brought home isn’t she a keeper? about Michelle?
OT any news on the progress in fixing the site tools for firefox? It’s been eons?
Good Morning all.
Been listening to C-span while reading. This French ambassador sounds like Peter Lorre
oh yeah, in a way he does
Thank you! Woke to Mike Lupica’s moral outrage that the skeeviest comment of the political season was but, but, but, her cancer was in remission at the time….

If you mean whiskey, that destroyer of families, then ah’m agin it…if you mean the smooth, gentle companion that slides so easily down the throat, then ah’m fer it… the more things change….
Did you watch Condi Rice’s presser yesterday? Wow! She is still in right wing LaLa Land and can’t seem to notice her own hypocrisy when she talks about Georgia’s sovereignty,
Condi is a Russian Expert with a Ph.D.? From what school for the small bus kids/clown college and why does this school keep passing Bush and the NeoCons and getting them good government jobs.
It is more what school you go to than your grades or even the education the school gives.
After all would anyone here want a Chicago School Economics grad managing their retirement?
Does anyone really want Condi the Russian expert handling Georgia like she has handled everything else and failed?
Does anyone want Bush to plan another American war?
Maybe the Elite schools should be more careful who they give a diploma to!
News forecast for today: The media is going to be all over McSame for his presumptuousness over Georgia Sending his delegation of clowns there – now to see about waking up
Morning pups. Never a silver lining these days without a new cloud to go with it. Day before yesterday Obama was leading in VA, OH and NV; reversed today thanks to ‘Country First.’ Problem for McCain is that Sakaashvili pulled the trigger too soon. Should have waited another six weeks. Between now and November the strategic weakness of the United States in that part of the world will be apparent to everyone who can still afford to pay his or her cable bill. At that point they will face the choice whether they want to have a draft (not too many volunteers this time out). Not to mention that if the US gets too feisty, the Chinese are likely to send us a letter right after the Games reminding us how much we owe them.
I’m hoping Obama lays low on this one. If he rises to the nationalist bait, he and we are doomed.
OT – Our illustrious FBI is doing its damnedest to merge facts into their Ivins/anthrax scenario.
I just heard on NPR news headlines that McSFB has given an interview to The Weekly Neocon, saying he’d be willing to pick a “pro-abortion” candidate for VP.
I was listening to Doors albums last night while preparing our pre-primary FEC filing and was reminded of this.
Well, one thing for sure is….if the Russians do use nukes against the Georgians after George Bush & Johnny McTeleprompter threatened Russia, we know who to blame.
It just makes sense there will be a historic escalation in all this and George Bush & McCain will be at the forefront of it. See? Total incompetent bozos.
Okay, going to work. Have a great day everyone! ;-)
“Let them eat…” how does that old saying go?
And didn’t Karl Rove vacation in Crimea just a little while ago? I’m sure that’s just a coincidence.

I guess that McCain isn’t such a big fan of rock, jazz, soul, R&B, hip-hop, folk, reggae, punk, or alternative, then?
