Winning the primary and possibly becoming a new member in incumbent-addicted Congress, much less as a progressive (even from the People’s Republic of Boulder), is an enormous achievement.</p> <p>The vehemently fundamentalist crowd that is drawn to Boulder’s political opposite — Colorado Springs (a hundred miles south along the Front Range of the Rockies) — seem drawn there as if in a dream out of Stephen King’s, The Stand. It’s not being Las Vegas is only an accident of geography. That they voted to change incumbents is an unexpected sign of optimism, or at least rationality.</p> Congratulations to Mr. Polis.
