not-worthy.thumbnail.JPGThe world's dumbest political ad -- the one put out this week by the McCain campaign talking about Obama's celebrity again -- ended with an aging piece of film humor: a clip from Wayne's World featuring Wayne and Garth bowing and chanting, "We're not worthy!"

Normally, filmic types ignore such thefts because, well, it's just not worth the hassle. But according to the McCain website, Mike Myers isn't:

Unfortunately, the final clip of Mike Myers and Dana Carvey doing their 'we're not worthy' bit from Wayne's World has spurred a celebrity backlash. Myers had his people call the campaign to demand that the video be removed from YouTube for copyright violation. Apparently, we are not, in fact, worthy.

Nope. You're not. Sorry. Any campaign that would try to establish its hipness cred by playing a clip from 1992 is just ... lame.

Is it possible to dumb down our political discourse any further than the McCain campaign is doing?
