done it myself lotta, lotta times. the only good part is that you tend to offload stuff that you really don’t want to be saddled with. fresh starts can be quite nice.

i fear i wore npb out today – we both neglected to think of bringing a dolly and had to carry or push the boxes, one by one, down the long long hallway to outside and the van.

i did not know the bride had put them into an indoor storage – i was thinking it was one of those drive up to the orange roll up door with her # on it.

On my mind… violence has erupted in my neighborhood.

Thurs nite an exceedingly wired young man got in my face and scared me bad (my effrontery — pointing out he was in my reserved parking space)

2am today it was a large complement of county deputies and an ambulance after a fist fight broke out in my yard – one party removed immobilized to hospital. Everyone involved unintelligible.. and a woman screaming about drug dealers. Didn’t sleep until noon.

Suz look into a mild sedative for kitty to be more comfortable on the long trip.Moving is a new beginning and there are no tax bills as a renter or fixing roof, painting house and the other endless maintenance tasks.
If you can rent from a private party that is freindly better than property management companies.
During the rainy season you will have a lot of privacy as people are in doors mostly. With your background you may get free rent in some situations like managing a storage unit. G)

I move every year for the summer. I put my stuff into storage and use the money I save in rent and cost of living in the US to travel. Of course, being a single, seasonal working college instructor allows me to do this. It’s not for everyone, and has definitely made me a proponent of “less is more” in terms of material possessions.

What I’m thinking about tonight is whether John McCain’s close links to the regime in Georgia will result in him lobbying Bush to intervene to our fellow “Coalition of the Willing”(bribed) member.

McCain Advisor was “Registered Foreign Agent” for Georgia…arranged trips by McCain to that country.

It sounds to my ear that Bush and others (esp. in the military) made hollow assurances to Georgia to play hardball with the guy that Bush looked into the eyes of and saw a soul-mate. All that equipment and training in Iraq got the Georgians thinking prematurely that they were a member of NATO.

It raises the issue whether NATO membership of nations where there is ongoing ethnic conflict is such a grand idea. NATO has the same problem with Turkey and the Kurds.

Just read a comment over at HuffPo in the thread by Robert Suskind. The commenter said if Bush is under Congressional impeachment investigation when his term expires, he cannot pardon people who may be accomplices or claim executive priviledge for material witnesses.

I don’t know how true this is but it’s a very interesting concept. One I’m sure Nancy Pelosi is considering with all due diligence.

I think that the would take the di minimis view that pardons simply don’t apply to impeachments, but do apply to any potential criminal trials at the Federal level.

If Bush pardons his henchmen the clear response would be to impeach them post hoc and prevent them them from receiving ANY “posts of honour, trust or profit under the United States” for perpetuity.

No government contracts, loans, pensions, future positions in government agencies, no carry-over privileges of office, etc. Ban them from lobbying Congress, or serving in any corporation that receives a government contract or tax-break.

What makes this so delightfully ironic is that the Republican thesis has been that the people should do well without government meddling. Let them actually “live” the experiment!
