Well…as a NC resident here…gotta say that when Edwards left folks with “Who Would Jesus Bomb” signs out in the cold one night before we invaded Iraq and refused to come out and speak to us because the Fund Raiser he was attending was more important than answering the Democratic protestors who had
had canvassed and donated to elect him to replace the odious Lauch Faircloth (Jesse Helm’s handpicked) well…I kinda got where he was coming from way back then. Turncoat, opportunist! Nothing he’s done since then gave me hope that he wasn’t what he showed us that night we stood out their with our signs armed with info from the “budding, young internet” that this invasion of Iraq was not only “morally” wrong but illegal.

I have watched Elizabeth Edwards bloom into the kind of person I would have wanted to support as a candidate for Democratic Office. She’s smart, knows her stuff, articulate and a fighter.

What’s sad is that her husband was made of weaker cloth. That his antics could cost us this election by him waiting so long to reveal his truth while his family knew. and felt if they stayed silent they might still give him a chance to achieve his goals shows much of what’s wrong with politics today.

That Edwards family “covered for him” and allowed so many thousands of hopefuls and Candidate OP’s to invest their time and money into his candidacy while they were all covering up something that could ruin Dems chances once again to take back the White House is beyond understanding.

Even the most egocentric, entitled in both parties would have known that with a profile of running as Veep to John Kerry and then declaring themself as the new “Populist/Progressive” in the next Presidential Election would certainly open one up to intense scrutiny. If Edwards didn’t learn from the “Swiftboaters” who went against Kerry…he surely should have.

I give my praise to Elizabeth and my prayers are with her and her family…but there’s really something VERY WRONG with JOHN and his EGO that he would allow this lie of an affair he had to go on with denials years ago and now with a weak denial that will be fodder for the “Talking Heads” in Media for a month to come…just before our Dem Convention.

It makes one wonder about the “ego/machismo” of some politicians who think they will Never be Outed..not matter what they do. That their friends and paid OP’s will cover for them no matter what.

It’s sad…it always comes to a bad end…and whether it’s Repugs or Dems who do these antics and think they can get away with it…it hurts the voting turn out by proving that in the minds of many who choose not to vote that “politicians are all the same…so why bother.”

This needs to end. American People are very forgiving if you don’t lie about what you did.

It’s a sad situation with Edwards. I don’t take comfort in figuring he was
without a conscience when I and others stood with our protest signs outside Dem Fundraiser that night in Raleigh, NC. He has proved that “first instincts” when one encounters another in a circumstance that requires a moral decision can often be very revealing.

I’m not contending that I agree with everything on every link. I am absolutely positive however that a conspiracy more vast than any you can imagine has been and continues to be pulled off right under your nose. It’s not a suspicion or a guess, I know it for a stone cold fact.

9/11 and the anthrax attacks were the same attack - by Cheney, Mossad and Rumsfeld in concert with the Crown, CFR/Rockefeller/Bush41 and other interests.

Here’s the difference between Republican morality and Democrat morality (tabloid version): With Democrats, its OK if you have an affair with someone of the opposite sex, as long as you don’t go to war, and do a good job of running the government. If you’re a Republican, however, it doesn’t matter if you go crashing around the world like an elephant in a china shop, raining destruction and death all around, as long as you’re faithful to your wife.

Well, the above isn’t really true, but somehow I liked the symmetry of it.

I do question the credibility of many of your links… Many of them seem to be grasping at straws, however, they do have some basic facts right. But, it stretches incredulity being taken to the extremes they infer…!

Yes, you’re right. I still have an Edwards bumper sticker on my car, and I think I’m going to leave it there– because his campaign stood for the things that I stand up for. For me, that bumper sticker is a symbol of those *issues,* and Edwards’ stance on them.

You could be right. Edward Albee has a recent play called “The Goat” that he says is about how people can do awful, unthinkable things (you can guess from the title) and yet see themselves as fully justified and acting rationally.

John Edwards’ statement today about narcissism and believing he was special may be an allusion to that (the way of thinking, not the Albee play).
