It's officially time to panic.
Barack Obama leads John McCain 45 percent to 39 percent in the latest CBS News poll.
Not good. Obama's people better figure out how to respond to McSame's devastating "Paris" ad and all of those relentless tire gauge attacks pretty damn quick. Because they're clearly having a significant impact.
Consider -- since this barrage of negative attacks started, McSame has dropped 3 points in the CBS poll since June.
And McSame is outspending Obama during the Olympics, so it's not inconceivable that he could drop even lower. Nothing could be worse for Obama than consistently leading McSame through the election.
McSame's got us right where he wants us. Unless Obama rights the ship, we could be headed for another '84 or '72.

Mornin’, Blue.
Here’s a great Onion piece that reminds us of the legacy of McSame’s mentor.
And when you break it down by states, looking at who is likely to win which ones, the electoral college map (h/t Pollster.com) is even more worrisome.
Strong/leaning McCain: 157
Strong/leaning Obama: 284
Too close to call: 97
Yep — McCain’s got Obama right where he wants him.
(Love that map, BTW — you can click on any state to get the trends and info for that particular contest!)
Remind me again: how many electoral college votes does someone need to win?
Obama is going to be on vacation next week in Hawaii. Will somebody please keep him away from those wind/surf boards
If it were McSFB we’d have to worry about the wahinis.
Bring on the debates, period. That should shut a lot of mouths. As I see that people are hearing more about Barack than JohnnyMac once that starts happening that should be another equalizer.
Dang! Poll news like that is going to drive me to drink! Cheers!
Thanks.
Aravosis has an interesting analysis of the latest from the WaPo. Whether you agree or not, it’s out there.
But, but, but shouldn’t Obama be ahead by, like, a gazillion points or sumthin’?
Maybe if Cindy doffs her top in Sturgis, McCain’s
polepoll numbers will rise.I’m still wondering when Obama is going to bring his gun to the knife fight.
Oh, and please give TBogg and Satchmo some love:

Will McCain be using the Paris ads during the Olympics? Or does he have something else special in mind.
OT - I can only find one article (Yahoo of all places) about the forged document story today!?!?!? Is the media attetion to important stories THAT bad??? WTF!!!
45-39
If McCain gets half the remainder, he leads. Voting fraud should push him over the top in the two or three battleground states where it always seems to matter most.
The whole process is a big joke.
But only John McCain can protect us from terrorists.

At the risk of having heads exploding across the country, I would offer up this little piece of counter-intuitive political thinking. http://www.tagg-lines.com/2008.....lting.html
Oh no. OH NO! Everybody get from street!
I’ll admit, when I see the two candidates perform and compare the output of their campaigns, I get discouraged that the polls don’t show a 75-25 advantage for Obama. But I would certainly settle for a 6 point victory in November.
As part of the mortgage bubble realtors who controled the purse strings led the appraisors to manipulate the appraisals. Is the MSM doing the same thing with polsters to maintain ratings and give the talking heads something to pontificate about?
My head did not explode. Good, because I might use it today.
Interesting, the question on CSpan right now is should Hilary’s name be place on the roll for the VP spot.
There are some real dopey comments this morning.
One woman called her a scuzzy wh*re.
The MSM manipulating reality? I’m shocked, simply shocked!
Good Morning Blue Texan and Firedogs,
DRINKS - yep. consider there are 2 huge stories about McCash and fundraising: Hess and bundler Sargent - both have been picked up by NYT/WaPo . . . and yet I can’t find either one on any of the Cable Nets or Broadcast news pages
MSNBC = Maverick Still Nation’s Best Candidate
The thing about polls….you can climb them or slide down one.

The thing no one ever mentions is that none of these polls call cell phones - only landlines. http://www.npr.org/templates/s.....d=14863373
CQ Politics notes the voter’s pulse may be harder to take than ever, as pollsters struggle to blend the young, the mobile and the uncommitted into their survey methodologies.
Dear Blue Texan,
“John McCain is now trusted more than Barack Obama on nine out of 14 electoral issues tracked by Rasmussen Reports” according to today’s Rasmussen poll. BHO should be up by at least 10+ points at this time, based on McCain’s unbelievably bad campaign, and the positive and unending support of the media.
Kerry was significantly higher in the polls during the same period of his campaign vs. Dubya prior to both conventions in ‘04. As with Kerry, the real campaign starts the day after the Republican Convention, when the Rove-led minions begin their work of trying to destroy Obama.
So, Blue Texan, using the error of margin in the poll you sited (most likely 3% - 4.0%), is he up by 9+%, or is only up by 3%? BTW - the CBS poll reflected less than 1000 respondents, which as you know, makes it’s results specious according to accepted polling methodologies.
You also neglected to refer to the Rasmussen and Gallup polls utilizing far larger samples, and which reflect differences of 2%, and 1%, respectively.
As for your blogger who cited a huge lead by Obama in electoral votes - please - there are at least, 3 other polls showing McCain ahead of BHO in electoral voters based on current projections.
Obama, at best, is on very very very shaky ground, and should be doing far better in this race if he is going to beat McCain in November. So, while your sarcasm is delightful, remember: one persons sarcasm is another person’s hubris. Just saying….

Yes, Obama has no chance, the sky is falling, he’s doomed.
Which forged document story are you referring to? I didn’t see anything on Yahoo. Do you have a link?
Why am starting to say “McChimp”…? I never even called Bush a ‘chimp’. I must have Taurette’s Syndrome.
Still, Obama needs to push back some. I’d go after Big Oil and Mobil/Exxon especially and their ties to Republicans. And pick a winner for VP, not Edwards nor Bayh. A woman, not Hillary, would be good. Govs of Kansas or Arizona. (of course I’d prefer Bernie Sanders of VT. or someone more radical than the usual DLC types likely to get it..). Or maybe someone not even a politician, Oprah!! (just joking maybe..)
I will remind you that there were many who had the exact same sentiments in 2006.
Bush and the GOP are collapsing, despite the medias greatest efforts to prop them up……
