Suz!
Newport Wine and Seafood Festival…… Newport Aquarium…. just a few of the fun things you will enjoy…
In Newport Beach?
pups!
newport oregon, wigwam.
is gonna be my temporary base while i search for housing.
Digg it!
Hey Suz!
Suz, you have a knack for finding the best vids.
dugg and thanks for opening it neuro
Dugg!
Hey neuro
Ooh, the sheer irony…! ;-)
Suzanne, you are headed for a heavenly place. Try the Thyme Garden in Alsea sometime while you are your way into Corvallis. My daughter got married there a couple of years ago….everyone came and camped out and it was supreme. The folks who own the herb&flower garden are special folks. You are headed for a lovely area. Enjoy!
Newport Oregon….. Seafood & Wine
Per Joby Warrick, Washington Post Staff Writer, Friday, August 8, 2008:
Ah so!!! Enjoy!
Right. They would regard it as a defensive necessity.
it’s going to be fun exploring my new state. i’m gonna be looking either along the coast north of newport or along the columbia river, either side, so i’m not sure which new state it is going to be.
What is your fav, travel or food? And I can’t decide myself!
hi, newton!
I would.
I am on a mission to replace yellow ribbons.
Finally trying to use iMovie for the first time. I’m not sure if I have the attention span to handle it though.
With what?
Knowledgeable folks have been saying that for a few years now, wigwam!
So you’re the one, eh? ;-)
Why, that sticker on the back of the McCain bus, of course!
The new one in iLife ‘08, or ‘06? Very bigg diff…
But, it’s nice to hear it from an official source, a real honest-to-god staff writer for WaPo. Now I believe it.
I think they go together….. with traveling you see new places, meet new people and exposed to different cultures and then experience their customs and food…… In a book I read while in France….. the author said that only 10% of French attend church services but almost all of them worship food….. it is the center of their lives and that is very true…..
I don’t know, the one that came with my computer.
Last time I was at the Laser Car Wash, the office door was covered with ‘em. Couldn’t take the presure.
newton is a mac expert
iMovie version 6 or 7?
6 is great, 7 is an atrocity.
Nah – I just play one on the blogs.
I think you’ve got it figured out…..use all you senses….the greatest learning.
perhaps another car wash is in your future?
Reminds me of a horrible parody of an Army commerical that ends: “… and then kill them.”
His one flaw…! ;~)
5 actually. I’m not trying to do anything too complex with it fortunately.
this is so true and funny…… Poor McBush..Fisical conservative
Super duper monsoon storm….. they are saying there has been over a 1000 lighting strikes……. now a brush fire in the west valley….. thankfully it is really raining hard…..
Yeah. My driveway. Exercise, rays and a clean truck.
What’s not to miss?
You forgot… a complete lack of ego.
my sister is in tuscon and she said yesterday that it was muggier than hell.
Just have to find pictures to go with a song. Putting the song in was easy, and from what I can see, putting the pictures in won’t be too hard either.
Relatively speaking?
Silly me, how could I possibly forget that…? ;-)
you gonna share when ya get it all done?
Bush ref, not the storm…
Suz! That is the coolest. I’m sharing that one.
newton, i am so glad i remembered to put the tiger balm in the take with me box.
pups, i am amazed at how newton managed to put that much stuff into the pod and only fill it halfway. dood!
Dugg. Thanks, NEURO!!!
They starting advertising on TeeVee…. we have our statewide primary next month… the Repugs are so funny…… they are either “True Conservatives” or Reagan’s Bff…. and then they throw in the fiscally conservative phrases…. and responsible government….. HOLY Sh*t how can they say that?
thanks, loohoo. i thought it was pretty cool and thought ya’ll would like it.
tis a good one for a hot summer nite
I don’t know, depends on whether or not I ever finish it.
So now you and the computer are on the floor? How’s Token dealing with it?

You can believe…it’s the WAPO!
there are a lot of UFO’s (unfinished objects) floating around
Black Hat: DNS Flaw Much Worse Than Previously Reported
If any of you remember a couple of weeks ago the internet was going crazy the above link seems to shed some light on what we were experiencing… Just thought some of you might be interested:>) It fits in what I was saying was going on that evening..
I come from a long line of sardines. We know our shit!
One more time for the delicate stuff and you’re done.
at a desk that is not going with me. token and bailey are quite upset – tonight is another night bailey is refusing to come in except to eat. token is sticking pretty close to me every night. he does not like sleeping on the sofa.
Pardon me while I kick the juke box.
I’ve got more than my share, the joys of a short attention span!
kicking back
Rich. I’m sure hoping the dems are ready to fight back.
I resemble that remark.
Hi Nahant: Thanks for that heads up.
Olive oil or KY jelly??
i had a couple boxes that were full of quilting ufo’s.
Only you, dude. Only you. :-)
I thought you might find that rather interesting… it was exactly what we were experiencing.. redirecting to wrong sites and such…
Its those boxes labeled as “Stuff” that you have to watch out for….
That kicks, Suz!
We have a pair.
Hell ain’t yet that cold, and the NHL has no opening for Satan.
yeap….twas a night of funny bizness
I sent you link to my entire department.
I work from home…. use a VPN to connect to the office ….. Monday the whole thing was shut down….. network, email……and it wasn’t up before I quit for the day…… hmmm now I wonder….
Unindented F*cking Objects??
brass ones.. now to figure out how we got em so we can then force nancy to grow a pair
unfinished objects.. semi-indented – if they were all the way indented, they would not be ufo’s
So excellent and yet so sad we couldn’t hear Bonnie and EmmyLou.
Not complaining, mind you.
I’ll guess that in an “abundance of caution,” as they say, your tech staff shut everything down until they felt that they had a grip on this situation.
That’s not what she lacks. She is a full fledged member of the other side.
i always say ’steel balls and a slingshot to go with them’
and they come in their very own box, ready when i need them.
ha.
let me put it this way……. received a new laptop after I returned from my vacation….. It doesn’t have any virus software on it…….. NONE…. and they sent me a CD that they burned….. it arrived yesterday afternoon…. cracked in half…… ya and I work for a technology company….
ha!
I can almost see Daschle and Gephart and the rest of the Dem “leadership team” on the morning of Setprmber 12th, 2001 – “Let’s just give over for now, and we’ll get it back later.”
What ever they were before that day, what they did that day changed history. They sat.
Oh shit!!! Do you have a tech staff that knows their stuff?
nice the guy has good pipes

no comment…… I downloaded a security suite from my ISP provider……
WTF those IT desktop guys need to be fired for deploying a pc with no protection… Your company needs some one who Really understands computers and the environment they live in… They may as well have opened the company network up the a gang of thieves..
Ahmen. It was the most horrible abandonment of leadership I’ve ever seen.
Karl Rove totally intimidated them with his “war not law enforcement” meme. Both tactically and strategically it was among the worst decisions anyone ever made.
Agreed.
again no comment…… can you imagine a company that writes and sells software would do that?
Go fishing.

They knew who they were dealing with. They knew Shooter, and Rummy, and the rest of that cabal. I have to think that they may have shared my hope that Powell wouldn’t go along with anything too ugly.
Wrong.
Yes, unfortunately. “Fred ain’t for shit as a programmer; let’s make him our system administrator.”

They are part of it all……..how else could they have sat for this? I don’t trust any of them.
Why is the gang of 10 senators bringing an energy policy? When you win you set the agenda. They are selling the farm again. It really really sucks.
I wouldn’t trust their software… too much risk…
I don’t see Daschle as complicit before the events. I see him as weak. But history has proven that either is unthinkable when the Republic is in question.
Gephart – craven asshole.
not that I am sleepy but have a ton to do tomorrow AND also have to work before I leave Saturday for Oregon…… Ok Suz….. Downtown Florence OR has FREE wifi….. Nite everyone…
g’nite katymine
Oh Fuck, dmac, thanks for bringng that to the memory forefront.
I’m told by folks in the business that Israel has the best countermeasures against anti-aircraft missles in the world. But to risk a bad pun, shooting down aircraft ain’t rocket science, unless you’re up against top-end stealth, e.g., the B2, which sells for $2B per craft.
Cool.

I really like the stuff from Pepe Escobar that I’ve read. Thanks for the link.
That was a newsie comment.
I just keep wondering what was wrong…individually….with each Dem that they simply could not/would not stand up for the rest of us? Were they so craven that they simply feared losing their seat in congress, their pension, their perks? How disgusting.
wow i’ve not heard this in ages. thanks dmac

Wow, never knew that about Sturgis, seems like it would then be in violation of the treaty, wouldn’t it? Though it wouldn’t be the first time the government violated a treaty with Native Americans.
the difference is nancy still pretends she is one of us, RGJoe has pretty much given that up, except when he wants to be a spy in Demo caucus meetings
pups, i’m fried. i’m headed for the long hot shower and then some well earned sleep. i was up at (sob) 10am this morning. dayam sunshine was forking bright.

Suzanne;
There is a great hot springs south of Eugene ask around. Relaxing no clothes.
Join the Elks and RV around parking use their hookups or the Moose lodges. Blackjack and I did that for a year on and off. people are friendly in the lodges and you’ll meet plenty of folks who know useful stuff. Really the Great North West has more cool places than you can go. At least in the dry season (four months) rest of time need a place so you don’t go stir crazy. Mightn’t be your cup of tea. Just say-in I well well healed friends that just bought a 5th wheel.
Try not to notice my age.
When I was a youngster, there was a very small venue in Escondido, CA called The Alley. Saw Kris Kristofferson, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, and Kate Taylor there. Got to meet them all and was on the cover of the Hot Licks album from that venue. 1972-73ish.
I’m trying to remember who said it, but there’s a maxim among organized crime factions – The winner is the group who is willing to do what no other group would, be more ruthless and murderous than the others.
That’s what we’re dealing with. But the Constitution and the Republic comes first with my gang, and if it doesn’t, it’s not my gang.
Wisdom is knowing the difference between “big” and “little.” Compared to what we’ve done to ourselves since, 9/11 was very little.
Unfortunately, the Democratic leaders lacked “wisdom.” The only Democrat in memory to succeed was clinton, who did so by moving to the “center” and becoming “conservative lite.”
Well, I love the part about McCane’s participation. I really, really hope that the Obama camp will tell the truth in their ads.

But this time we have to send some of them to jail for the education of the others. Otherwise the Republicans will keep trying to establish an imperial presidency until eventually one of them takes us across Frank Chruch’s “abyss from which there is no return”: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..17403.html
This one will work
Right. Our guys and gals must — MUST — step up. Or we are done for.
Or my age.
Pardon the butting in, but I agree – the best incentive for public servants to observe the law is the consequences. Sad, but true.
I’m so with you on that. but lobbyists and such have been sent to jail. We need our congressmen to standTF up and send some bad-boys to jail. I just don’t see it happening. And that offends me.
no butting this subject is very important for all citizens… other wise we will not be citizens of anything, we will be but serfs to the rich… I know that I will not accept that fate for me or my grand kids…
thanks!!!
will post it, with due credit of course!!!

OK, time for silly. And spew-warning.
Found in the news box:
Could Lieberman be McCain’s most potent VP pick?
One of the most collosal mistakes I’ve ever seen in politics was Nancy Pelosi announcing that impeachment was off the table……a simple invitation to continue the trashing of America. I bought The Wrecking Crew and am reading it for Saturday’s book salon…….but I struggled (sickly) through Shock Doctrine and also through Frank’s other book (What’s The Matter With Kansas.) Apparently Thomas Franks is on Colbert tonight….. guess I’ll watch.
And Colbert starts with the Hamdan verdict. This country is so messed up!
Nighters Suz and dmac.

couldn’t have been a better cherry-topper to my week.
There will almost certainly be a blanket pardon. Here is what I think I know:
– Impeachable officials can be impeached post-term, and impeachment convictions nullify pardons: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..157/563279
– Presidential pardons have no weight in
o state courts
o Contempt of congress sentences
o Contempt of court sentences
o ICC proceedings
o The proceedings of foreign governments that are proceeding under the doctrine of “universal jurisdiction.”
it’s a good thing.
Yoo and Feith. And, frankly, I’m still really pissed at Colin Powell, too.
imagine our country having to appeal to foreign nations to prosecute our criminals because our elected officials lacked the fortitude to do so themselves when they had a chance
What a tragic piece of shit.
and don’t forget to write–i tried to email you, but i wrote the email down wrong..

Chimpy may be the most traveled President, but that’s about to end. He will be welcome precisely nowhere. And his posse – not much better.
But I hope they try.
It’s better than even odds that it’ll come to that.
We can hope. You know what saddens me about Powell is that he could have been a contender. People believed that he had honor and strength. He turned out to be nobody. What a crying shame.
Exactly. I heard him speak, probably December 1998, and even then he was being considered. And he was very good. (But I didn’t know about his participation in the Mai Lai coverup.)
His so-called “Powell Doctrine” was very astute, and had that been followed, we’d never have invaded Iraq. What a tragedy.
Pardon me, I must plonk.
See y’all tamari.
i think powell’s “honor and strength” thing was pure advertising bs – a perception construct, nothing more. :(
You would seem to be correct. And I bought it.
nite wdd
Your blog’s not showing up. error message.
Powell should have done an Archibald Cox when boosh sent him to the UN and he went to the CIA to prepare and learned it was all a lie.
He didn’t, and that is what history will remember him for.
I’ve seen nothing of it. Even tomorrow, he could still come clean at tell us what really happened. E.g., corroborate what McClellan has been sayiing. But, whatever his reasons, he’s not talking. And, I can’t respect that.
I grabbed your email and will writecha.
Citizen DWR1 and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Some of us have known about Uncle Colin Powell since he was sent out with the whitewash and brush in the Mei Lei investigation…his carreer closely parallels that of Alexander Haig as waterboy, bagman and psychophant… when I was in the Army I had at least a measure of respect for the company and battalion grade career officers I encountered in ‘Nam and some in the station hospitals I was in stateside but after a number of conversations with my old man after I got home and after experiencin’ the anti-war ’70’s I can say I have not one iota of respect or tolerance for any of the bastards anymore.
“whatever his reasons, he’s not talking”
the enn ess aaa sees all, knows all, remembers all…
You may be right, but that makes me sad. It makes his whole life worthless. I’d like to think he just went way wrong at the end. Not that it matters. the fact is that he went way wrong.
Hey Selise, I’d very much like your opinion on this. Most folks with legal training disagree with me.
You’ve got to look at his involvement in the Mai Lai coverup. He has not been an honorable person for quite a while.
I trust your judgment and experience.
That’s in his curriculum vitae though…he did the same thing in the Mai Lai investigation …he’s Uncle Colin, the house servant for Uncle Charley.
See Sidney Blumenthal’s “Will the Real Colin Powell Stand Up?” http://www.salon.com/opinion/b…..aq_powell/
Whom do we look up to and trust to lead our government? I wish I knew more about Obama, but he’s new… and he does have some stuff to prove. He’s being villified by the right as a communist/Marxist. I don’t know how to push back against that because his record is thin. Wow…..we’re in for it.
Blumenthal suggests that Powell may yet come clean in some sense.
“Hadley and others are taking Powell’s early skepticism toward the surge and willingness to express it as a potential sign that he will swoop down on them just after Petraeus asks for more forbearance for the president’s policy. Powell is the White House’s ticking-time-bomb scenario. He was Petraeus before Petraeus, the good soldier before the good soldier, window-dressing before window-dressing. The White House aides’ fear of Powell reflects their guilt, if not their stricken consciences, over his disposal. Powell was used, ruined and tossed overboard. His warnings were ignored, his loyalty was abused, and when he no longer served Bush’s purposes he was unceremoniously discarded.”
But that was a year ago.
Obama ain’t no Marxist. He’s far to the right of the average American voter. In fact, on matters of the death penalty, he’s to the right of the majority of our very righwing Supreme Court.
Yes. But Powell has had time to make right. And he’s done nothing. Who needs some postumous screed. If he had any credibility left, any soul…..he’d speak up to save his country from another round of destruction. I haven’t seen any move from Powell to do that.
there was an extra ‘r’ on the address, don’t know why..and i fixed it in the profile page, but the ‘r’ still showing up on the link when i click on my name, dunno.

ok, 3am, gotta pack and then a 3 hour drive tomorrow, nite.
I don’t know what to think. The rights push the propaganda and I find Obama’s record kind of thin. I don’t know where he’s going, and I did not like his vote on FISA. He just doesn’t feel very substantial to me. I still will give him a try rather than fold. But I wish I’d seen him stand up. Know what I mean?
loohoo–it’s working now…gerbils again i guess.
tah.
right, Powell has had his chance.
and he has done nothing.
let him rot.
nite, folks.

We can be confident that he is way better than McCain. Other than that, however, we need to fight to make the Democratic party truly progressive.
And, I have to crash out now too. G’nite all.
Citizen DWR1:
Don’t fold up behind Obama jest yet…keep the heat on and warn anyone askin’ that you are one of the many progressives that needs ta be acknowledged this time, not taken for granted like Gore and Kerry did…Obama is very smart and very accomplished but he’s gotten this far by workin’ thru the bubble of DC and the nationsl conventional estanblishment…I don’t think he quite gets it that the most significant part of the Democratic Party base is progressive and is not securely in his pocket yet. We can NOT let Obama take the left for granted for his own good.

Any Firepup who is still awake this AM should go ta Salon and look up Syd Blumenthal’s piece on Powell and what he could do to the fascists if he comes clean in September.
In an administration of zealots and wankers, you (I mean I) look for chestnuts. The centralized grip of this administration is a blueprint for message control and audacious secrecy, and there’s no doubt that future administrations will learn, and learn from, the pitfalls and the benefits.
The old days really are gone.
