Late again: Here is a link to the story about how the Iowa university lab became to be privatized as a consequence of Pentagon needs. The lab originally provided vaccines for veterinary and industrial workers exposed to anthrax. The run-up to Gulf War I created manifold demand for anthrax (and other biotoxin) vaccines. The university “sold off” their production facilities to a consortium of MIC interests. IIRC Carlisle interests/associates were involved. The story I recall, this privatized production obtained the anthrax from Dugway and proceeded to churn out dodgy vaccines which were sold at huge markup to the pentagon. I gathered that the facilities at the Fort pertaining to chemical/biological agents was more a research, and development facility to counter such substances. They would also be used to identify these substances, not produce them which was given to other facilities, e.g. Dugway. This article outlines that story.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/t.....038;page=3

Ithought we were going to have a reasoned discussion of Inflation: re yesterday’s Fed decision to hold rates constant. I’m deflated.

What we should try, I think, is a Wikipedia type of entry for various subjects. Take the anthrax matter. It’d be interesting if everyone with information put it on the site with every one editing it with links etc. It might help us to see the big picture rather than a bunch of little ones spread through comments. Unfortunately I have no technical ability. I have no idea how it might be done.

There is a certain element of pathos in watching McCain’s performance on the campaign trail. And time seems to be his principle motivation.

republican divisiveness, he’s a republican the other guy is not (well, I think sometimes Obama is but that’s another discussion

As long as corporate money continues to influence legislation and fill campaign coffers we’re stuck with politicians, Republican and Democratic, who will sing the corporate tune. Until the progressive caucus in the House has the power to control the House agenda none of that will change.

McCain is running on three things;

1) bigotry, he’s white, the other guy is not

2) republican divisiveness, he’s a republican the other guy is not (well, I think sometimes Obama is but that’s another discussion

3) cognoscente dissonance, if Obama wins that means bush was wrong about everything and the people who supported bush cannot accept that the damage done has been their fault
