Twenty-six years in Congress, and neither Willard "I’m not a historian" Romney nor Carly "right-shoring" Fiorina can name one energy-related legislative accomplishment for their candidate John McCain.
Andrea Mitchell seems to see the wind blowing a new direction(Salon). Her previous Villager worship of McCain has soured into challenging his campaign at every turn. Perhaps Mrs Greenspan sees the Rachel Maddow fanmail piling up at letters@msnbc.com, phil.griffin@nbc.com, viewerservices@msnbc.com, countdown@msnbc.com.

Teddy!
Oooh. First through the door. Teddy, here’s another one of Mittens failing to name any energy accomplishments either.
teddy!
Teddy! About time you got here, young man. ;-)
I honestly don’t think anyone can name any accomplishment he has made period.
Congrats, Muffin! Btw, this sux…
Protesters at the Democratic National Convention in Denver can be restricted to fenced-in areas, federal judge ruled on Wednesday, saying that security needs outweighed curbs on their rights.
OK time to Digg it Pups!
linky…
dugg and thanks nahant
Dugg!
Howdy nahant
Suz, in answering ya… Drizzly here today…! ;-0
some free speach zone, eh, ct. all those wanting to engage in free speech will be conveniently already caged in holding pens ready to shipped off to some halliburton re-education camp i’m sure (taking off tin foil)
fuckers – spitting
hate to tell you, nahant, but i got the official digg, yours is a decoy…at least according to the Digg button upstairs
Sounds lik3e FREE Speech repression to me… isn’t that covered in the Constitution??? Oh I forgot “Thats Just A Piece Of Paper”
nahant, I’m waiting for my orientation…!
Saw that earlier today. Have to say this whole national security state thing is getting totally out of hand. Those rights are supposed trump everything else (except yelling fire in a theater).
Dam how did you sneak in ahead of me (:>))
dang, when i dugg nahants, it was the one on the front page up top.. now yours is… dugg both to to be sure
Trade you. 98 F and bone dry today. Not what you want in fire season. Supposed to cool off tomorrow and a chance of rain later this week though.
Oh just like the Army /s
I looked around for you but didn’t see you, thought the coast was clear…
Todays GOP:
It’s like they take pride in their ignorance.
-G
All DIGGs are fixed.
Perhaps Mrs Greenspan sees the Rachel Maddow fanmail piling up at letters@msnbc.com, phil.griffin@nbc.com, viewerservices@msnbc.com, countdown@msnbc.com.
Dreamy Sigh.
Been that way for 30 years. Of course I am old enough to remember when they at least pretended to respect knowledge.
Lotsa emails to write, jacqrat!
Hi everybody.
Can y’all guess what CT and jackie have in common?
OK OK I dugg your Digg
Teddy writes GREAT letters.
Speaking of fires I read that a copter with about 11 went down over in Trinity County, northern California, killing at least 9. They had been fighting a fire there.
Thanks for the diggs!
Who makes your glasses?? Remind me not to go to them (:>))
Their love of you?
Andrea Mitchell seems to see the wind blowing a new direction(Salon). Her previous Villager worship of McCain has soured into challenging his campaign at every turn.
Has the Word been Given to the MSM? Has Obama gotten the Nod? Is the MSM giving up on the GOP because they know its a lost cause and they now have to make nice to the Conquering Barbarian.
Or is there a secret move to the Center in the works?
Either way McCain is stuck after the Primaries still pandering to 30%ers who nomatter what he does just don’t seem motivated to vote GOP.
Maybe McCain is Jimmy Carter running for reelection with a destroyed economy and Lyndon Johnson, well ok Johnson knew better than to run after losing a war.
McCain seems to be to dumb to know that he is the guy left holding Bushes bag.
Good evening, firepups, and all the ships at sea…
Dangerous work and we lose a few every year. I think I mentioned that my neighbors this summer are smoke jumpers (the elite paratroopers of wild land fire fighters for the unitiated). One was down fighting a fire in your neighborhood earlier this summer and a couple were down in Cali for several weeks. All are back home now and busy with small stuff here in the state. So far pretty tame this year with mostly small slow moving stuff.
mp ltns – how ya been?
Hey, MP! Long time no see. How’s tricks?
Are they worried about another 1968 DNC Convention?
Why did U.S. District Judge Marcia Krieger rule that it is OK to infringe upon our 1st Amendment rights? Because Security trumps freedom and some abstract concept that our civil complaints can be heard through numerous other means?????
i wonder who appointed her as us district judge?
I much prefer the analysis of a Rhodes Scholar. :-)
She is a Dubya appointee. Figures.
Yep… Hurry up and wait…! ;-)
Just been working, traveling, and trying to figure out why the stupid bothers me beyond coherence.
And hi, Suzanne!
Dare I ask…? ;-)
I saw a McCain ad that said John was for green power. Which I knew was a lie but, just how desperate is McCain if he has to start lying about being Green to get votes?
Is John going to become pro abortion rights next? Pro gay marriage? Will he say anything he has to voters just so that he can win the war in Iraq and prove that he not Bush should have been President on 9/11?
I know the feeling. I have a sign in my office that says, “I do not suffer fools. Period.”
teddy, both worked with howie on the 06 campaign?
I don’t know. An educated guess would be a Clinton appointee. Just since he appointed more Women than any other President. I couldn’t find a Bio on her with a quick Google search.
OT How whacked out it this?
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08…..ref=slogin
I consider Kmiec a nutcase. He is usually a staunch defender of conservative court decisions, etc. and a priest refuses him communion. Just how weird are things getting in wingnuttia?
Nope. I Googled her and she is a Bush II appointee from 2002 (see mine at 40).
Both of ya are major Rachel fans!
My emails to msnbc have gotten rather brief, actually:
1. I turn off my teevee when Tucker comes on.
2. Please give Rachel Maddow her own show.
I alternate 1 & 2; sometimes combine them!
Surprising Mitt and Carly don’t realize that McCain was instrumental in one of the longest economic expansions in history. Right up until 1929, when it all went down the crapper. Coincidentally, that was the year Johnny crashed his first plane when he flew through a barn door and snapped all 4 wings clean off.
Here is the link for Krieger.
We’re all very pleased to know that Miss Rachel is filling in for Gregory tomorrow.
When Republicans talk about “green power” you can take it to the bank…
Heh, ya got that right… *swoon* Fortunately, I’ve not seen F*cker around…! Has he been on Morning Joe?
I suffer less when I have to read about them less.
Am now waiting for a version of The Simple Life where Paris and Nicole reunite to cover the GOP convention. Their insights would probably top most of what flies over the airwaves these days.
/grumpy rant
An early farewell.
I am exhausted from driving Texteen around, working (yes at the office and everything!), grocery shopping, cooking, and blogging! Going to get some sleep early in anticipation of a busy day tomorrow with Gnome de Plume, Mr de Plume, and a pair of Gnome Gnephews.
Good night all.
nite betsy
That’s true. Offshore drilling and ANWAR are “greenpower” for them (lots of green coming their way for those).
Night Tex. Sleep well.
Hey, Paris’s new video has a more coherent energy policy than McCain has.
G’Nite Betsy.
pain free sleep wishes tex
It has complete sentences – always a good start.
Pain free sleep wishes, Muffin! *g*
isn’t paris’ energy policy essentially obama’s energy policy?
Nite Betsy
With a ruling like that, she had to be didn’t she?
thanks y’all
Pretty much.
Yep.
how nice to see you!
Sure – and this will be just like Iraq, where McCain criticizes Obama’s timeline but embraces Maliki’s (nearly identical) one. Here, he criticizes Obama’s energy plan but praises Paris’s (nearly identical) one.
Johnny’s already folded on the burning tire pressure debate of 2008…
Nice to be seen.
…if briefly. Up early in the AM. Gnite, be well, and keep fighting the stupid.
g’nite mp
Bush did nominate Judge Krieger.
However, I believe Mayor Andrew Young of Atlanta was the first to come up with free speech inside a cage zones.
I don’t recall Paris saying anything about tire pressure–maybe I just missed it.
Of course, now that McBush has flipflopped and endorsed Obama’s tire pressure stance, maybe we don’t even need a policy on it anymore
(nearly identical) one.
Paris’ plan. Paris Hilton’s plan.
The world is upsidedown.
Night MP. Non bastardum carborundum.
How insane is the church to risk their tax exempt status when we are likely to win by a landslide and will have the power to settle old scores.
Anybody see this? He had me right up until the end.
Apparently, Lie-berman whispered in his ear… Now, I wonder if Cindy has forgiven him for volunteering her for the Miss Buffalo Chip pageant…? ;-)
It’s wacky. Cwazy.
He added that McCain has been positive as well.
Positively Confused?
Well, McCain has been positive – positively revolting.
I have no reason to doubt Hilton’s intelligence. Anyone who gets paid big bucks just to show up at events can’t be that dumb…
Andria-What is John’s greatest energy independence accomplishments?
Carly- there was McCain/Fiengold. Oh, That was campaign finance reform and John doesn’t adhere to the Fiengold portion but, agh, Uh thats another story.
Andrea- Back to John’s record of 26 yrs and what he’s accomplished on energy independence.
Carley- Well there’s uh? Oh, I thought that was a strange question to begin with. Why would you ask John this ? He was a POW during vietnam and no one should question that!
Andrea- We’re not. We are asking of his legislative accomplishments or initiatives of 26 yrs in Congress that would have moved the country toward energy independence.
Carley- OK, I don’t think anyone has a crystal ball and could tell energy (oil) was going to be in this state of affairs. I mean No ONE ever thought Katrina would be so devastating and break the old unkept levees.
Andrea- Actually, People did know and estimated the levees wouldn’t hold. Just like President Carter proclaimed of getting America off its dependence on foriegn oil. Like Bush #41 who used the military to ensure the flow of our dependence of foriegn oil (he knew).
Carly- But Obama wants you to pressurize your tires. Thats not a energy paln. McCain is a Maverick and would reach across the aisle to work with the opposition he demonizes in his ads, even though John has voted with Bush (party line)95% of the time.
Andrea- What of John’s 26 yrs of accomplishments toward energy independence?
Carly- John is proud of his 26 yrs of service and welcomes the opportunity to match it with Obama’s record. Have you asked Obama this question because it just doesn’t seem right or fair that the media would be bias toward John in this way?
I think Phil Graham was right, America are a bunch of whiners…
Andrea- We in the media did faithfully ask Obama frequently where is his patriotism when he doesn’t wear a flag pin, as you wanted us to. And we did nothing but for the longest time. Are you having any trouble with this question? Are you feeling OK?
Carly- its just that if John doesn’t make the presidency. I’ll be unemployed and no one will hire me after what happened to H.P. while I was CEO. And how it prospered prior me and then after I left with a huge bail out package. Its hard. And John McCain knows how hard it is. That is why he was hold back for 4 yrs on paying those taxes on that California properties as he did. He knows. He understands Americans are having a tough time. But why should the rest of us?
Andrea- sorry to here that.
Carley- John has a plan to balance the budget in his first term. By saying everthing is on the table including raising taxes to square away Social Secerity. We tell our enemies ( I mean Democrats) that all is on the table, although not all is on the table. The raising taxes is not really on the table but it makes people think we are negotiating in good faith. I did this stuff at H.P.
Then once we get our hands on the Social Security moneys. John can use that to give tax cuts and as equity to borrow more from China.
Andrea- Carley, would you have any exedrin on you?
Carley- I’m against socialized medicine. But I do think that if insurance companies pay for viagra it can pay for birth control pills. The reason I say that is because there is a demographic of female voters that recognize this and I can get there vote for John and not have to follow through because the Religious Right will make a stink on que for us.
End of interview…….
true dat
I find the media silence on this exceptional. Does anyone think that if Obama attended one of Snoop Dogg’s house parties and offered up Michelle for the booty shakin’ contest it would not be front page news in every newspaper in the country and lead all of the newscasts?
Obama needs to shackle McAngry to Dick Cheney’s secret energy meetings.
-G
hahahaha
i would almost forgive andrea if she really did that
lol
Would love a link. Thanks.
I am sure Tucker is on The Vineyard with the other rich swells for the month.
That’s where a crafty e-mail that has some nice pics of McCain at Sturgis along with the goings on AT Sturgis(pickle licking contests and all) comes in.
Send that to every wingnut that forwards one of those lame Obama smears.
-
I had to really read that, Robt…! 8~P
If you didn’t know anything else about McCain, the way he treats his wife would be reason enough to vote against him.
By the way, Wikileaks debunks the Obama/Odinga “secret Muslim” agreement smear. Attackerman points out that Dick Morris was an Odinga adviser.
-G
That does not sound like the in-the-gutter politicking McCaint will need from his Veep, with him running a respectful campaign and all….
Obama should say McCain needs the tire guage to measure the hot-air coming from his desperate campaign.
-G
Which wife?
Nobody sends me the bullshit emails. They are afraid that I will drown them in articles refuting every single rightard talking point and policy and highlights the disastrous results of said policies. That is because I have for over a year.
Yep. Sturgis has to be the absolute worst choice for a campaign stop for the “family values” party. the only thing saving his wrinly old white haired ass is the fact that the press have effectively buried the story.
I swear! My wife would’ve pulled a Mz Bobbitt with half the slurs he’s doled out…! It’s mind boggling that that Mz Buffalo Chip line was scripted…!
All of them.
I think it’s safe to cross Pawlenty off the list. Kerry had a great line during his speech the other day. He told the audience something to the effect of, “John McCain wants a Vice Presidential candidate who knows more about the economy than he does. Congratulations, you’re all on the short list.”
ding!
I have sometimes used your method but I’m happy to say I don’t have that many repukes for friends.
Wow, Kerry said that? That’s funny!
Tim Russert would never have blindsided them with a difficult question like that.
Good point. I seem to recall that Newt Gingrich dumped his terminally ill wife to run off with his mistress. Amazing what you can get away with when your party is the self-proclaimed defender of “family values.”
My friends, that’s change we can believe in.
-G
and they are hoping his kid doesn’t while covering the convention
In my case it was relatives. I really do not have any Republican friends.
Newt dumped two terminally ill wives sequentially.
To run off with already-in-hand mistresses.
It’s why I hope for a McCain withdrawal sometime this month, and why I think Newt is playing high-profile with the House GOPs on the Hill this week.
what am i – chopped liver?
Like they say, “You can pick your friends…”
Newt reliving the magic that was the GOP government shutdown.
Please pick Newt as Veep.
-G
What Kerry said:
What Kerry meant:
I’m sure Cindy knew it was the Meth talking. Still how many Western states have been hurt by Meth and Bikers Obama should campaign more in the West and say that he will do something about Meth. Obama is doing really well in Idaho where TV ads are much cheaper.
Only a few companies world wide can make one of the key ingredients for Meth Obama just has to say that as President he will restrict their manufacturing of that ingredient to estimate legal use and work to guard that ingredient better and he could stop Meth.
Because the Technical expertise needed to make that ingredient is too much for bikers to cook on their own.
Plus he diggs at McCain this way indirectly for going to the biker rally.
Oooooh. Newt would be fun. Hadn’t really thought about McCain dropping out, but it is looking increasingly possible. Old bastard looks like he is ready for an aneurysm any minute. On the other hand, if he does drop out, my money is on the nod going to Romney (he is the money boys’ candidate after all).
I am sorry, but I do not consider you a Republican. Your are a decent, moral, sane person and therefore disqualified from membership in the Republican Party.
Apparently…! But, in all fairness, you’re not a devout one…! ;-)
and his loss can be face saving because he stepped in after mcsame had to drop out and his campaign had a late start and insert other favorite mitt-scuses here.
lol. i don’t think anyone i know has sent me a right wing email since 2003 – but sadly, i did loose a friend who decided that she couldn’t talk with me so long as i didn’t support the war against afghanstan. :(
Said and meant should be reversed but I know what you mean. Surprisingly, he pulled it off this time.
I think Biden suffers from a similar speech impediment. They are both really bright but they have trouble being concise.
president Bush just made a speech trashing the Chinese on human rights issues. Then he attends opening ceremonies on Friday.
In other news, the Chinese government has announced that is has assigned two high-ranking janitors to meet Air Force One upon its touchdown in Beijing.
Not really. Kerry lives by the rule that when 15 words will do, you multiply by 10 and add embellishments. He fucked up and kept it short.
I had someone stop speaking to me when i said I supported our troops and prayed for their safety, but i did not support the war in Iraq.
“Hon, you have to support he war in order to support the troops.” Nope, I don’t, not really.
*gah* The Newshour is on here, and a Marine officer was just saying that Hamdan received a ‘full and fair’ trail… Doesn’t a jury of one’s peers constitute part of it…? Military officers could not be construed as one’s peers for Hamdan by any stretch of one’s imagination…
I think the key thing is what Andrea Mitchell said about the entire Landsruh debacle: “I was there.” I believe the McCain offended her because she was there reporting on Obama. She couldn’t make believe they weren’t lying.
Maybe it’s something they put in the punch at Skull and Bones. I know of at least two members who don’t talk so good. Make that three, Papa Bush had a few verbal idiosyncrasies of his own.
Well, I guess that there is a first time for everything.
Didn’t they say that even if he was acquitted on all charges, he wouldn’t be released? What’s not fair about that?
She couldn’t make believe they weren’t lying.
damn – spew alert next time, eh?
What’s not fair about that?
maybe not fair – think of it as an act of kindness. Takes all of the gut-wrenching anxiety out of waiting for a verdict.
OK. I need to go to bed. Getting up early to amuse the trout. Take care and enjoy the snark.
g’nite dr no pause dick
Heh, true!
Good night DrDick!
LOL! Aloha, DD!
nite Doc – take the steel-tipped fly rod. If they won’t bite, you can just thunk ’em on the head…
Night, Doc. Think I’m out too. Sweet dreams, all.
Aloha, ratfood!
g’nite ratfood
nite ratfood
Good point some other reporters who were there might have scooped her if she tried to cover for McCain. Nobody likes being asked to cover for a bad easy to expose lie.
Nite Ratfood
This is great lets assume that jury of one peers statement is true. Solders are covered by the Geneva Conventions with regard to torture and being tried in court.
Now is that what the solder was saying?
eureka springs upstairs
ES is Upstairs
Reminds me of Otter’s speech in front of the Student Court in Animal House.
“John McCain has a long record of existence in the Senate, and the community at large.”
The problem with this kind of thing is that a surrogate often can be tripped up by this kind of question, like the Texas state rep who couldn’t name any of Obama’s legislative accomplishments. Now, in McCain’s case it really is true that his record is sorry, but the way to make that point is to look at the record, rather than at the deer-in-the-headlights look of the poor schlub that was on the teevee.
