CT!
Good evening. I am fighting a cat for the keyboard, so I did not even try for the zed.
I’m off to bed. Take care and enjoy the music.
Well, heading off to bed….. woke up at 4:30am and could not get back to sleep…… Nite everyone
gnome!
g’nite dr no pause dick
I coulda sworn that song title was Blackwater Blues. Then my eyes straightened out.
g’nite katymine
I’m surprised that Marion didn’t chime in with this awesome news…
i did the same thing – that is how i originally found it. i thought i read blackwater blues
I should be off to bed myself. I’ve got kids to entertain tomorrow, so I need to rest up.
perhaps it was resolved after she went to bed – she gets up real early to provide us with coffee, toast, juice, etc along with the opeds in the nytimes. she reads modo so i don’t have to :)
Aloha, Katy and Dr. D!
g’nite gnome
nite katymine, doctor, gnome
hey newton
Aloha, gnome!
Hey, Suz!
Listenin’ to some bluez…
irma thomas has a great forking voice. iirc, she was singing this song after she lost her home in katrina. according to her website, she just got back into her home a few months ago.
OMFG!!!! I used to go see Irma Thomas when I was a teenager at F and M Patio in New Orleans. I was way cool then.
you are stll way cool mary mcc. i thought you would like this one (grinning)
She used to sing with Benny Spellman. He died a while back. He sang a song called Mother in Law.
Benny
i almost went with this one – same show – singing time (is on my side)
That song is tugging on my heart stings. I was around 14 when that came out.
i was around that same age… she covered that stones song better than anyone i’ve heard
Here is a little history on Irma, The Stones and the song.

Dugg this one… Where are you Neuro??
Busted if you are here Lurking “You have Mail” so do you Suz
Evening Pups:>)
Evening Nahant.

Sooothing Sounds Suzanne. Accordian instead of an organ!
thanks, mary , i didn’t know that
nahant, dugg and thank you
thanks bb – allen on accordion was a surprise to me – i first kept looking for him in his usual spot
I was wondering why oil and gas have started to ease up, and a few things spring to mind.
First, the ban near the olympics must have created a fuel surplus in Asia. Next, there are the obvious political reasons. But there is also this
http://tinyurl.com/6ncxgy
A reasonable way to make and store hydrogen that is solar friendly from MIT. Maybe oil is not so big anymore….
Today my computer went kabluey. Photoshop kept crashing. All kinds of trouble. Boy was I glad. It made me stop working. What a relief. I have been humming along though. Feels soooooooooo good to be making a living again. I am going to barter for a new machine.
From Thomas Frank’s book The Wrecking Crew:
Sounds like a damn interesting read.
Wow!!!!!! That just made my year!!!
what kind you want?
a big one.
This is the clearest and most succinct discussion of oil prices that I’ve seen: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..693/557642
Thanks DrDave that for that link… that is one of my reasons for going solar. 11.1 kw system.. not only to offset my electric bill but eventually to be able to recharge the electric vehicle that will be coming to our neighborhood hopefully sooner than later!
Not if Darth can help it. Fuck Darth. He is a loser.
A little more detail would help Mary… there are computers and there are computers:>)
Not yet. Apparently, that’s our job.
Hiya, pups!
Getting ready to take the boat out fishing in the morning. The weather sucked today where we’re going, but is supposed to be great tomorrow.
windows or mac? laptop? big is in the eye of the beholder, so to speak
I am not sure. The guys I am working for bought five computers. The only thing I can remember is that they have a gig of ram and dual video cards. And two monitors. When you are working in two or three programs at a time that is pure heaven. And Adobe creative suite is on them. A registered version. They don’t need the machines anymore cause they have hired people who work at home. I think some of them aren’t local.
hey et is that an outhouse on fire or a smoking shed?
Bad girl!
Windows. I used to do Mac but they are too expensive. I haven’t ever had a laptop. Come to think of it I don’t use my cell phone much either.
Speaking of conservatives…
*innocent look*
It is full of sockeye, coho and rainbow trout. They aren’t going to the potty.
*laughing* sorry et.. i guess i shudda put on my glasses before i said anything
true dat, ct *sigh*
Nope it is in the raw power of the hardware(ie CPU type 2x, 4x, speed, bus speed and mainly the amount of memory on board and the video card) after that it is just your choice of operating systems… remember Mac is now running on Intel based computers so…
I bought a memory foam topper for my bed today. I am going to go lie in it now. Hope it helps my over fifty issues.
Suzanne you definitely have a lot of soul. Thr slow rockin beat reminds me of Ray Charles and BB King slowin it down and sweetin it up. I like the part..’and you’ll come knock knock knockin at my door’…and I’ll be around very bluesy. Good choice for unfinished biz in New Orleans…like rebuilding the town and fixing the fuckin wetlands and levees and putting all the federal assholes in max security…no more white collar don’t do the hard time.
The tune start comin up the well spring like a fountain
And with a rebel yell we cried more more more
let me know if it works, mary. i’m on the sofa and then floor until next week.
Is the computer on the floor?
Hey man I been busy putting together some pointer for our buddy Busted… Hopefully what I sent him will help… tis hard to reach through the Toobz to help him with his PC… But it can be done… How are you doing tonight Newt?? finished the chili and da tomatoes we sent home with you??
Boo Hoo Hoo My computer can’t find my scanner. Changed cables, downloaded drivers from Hp…never liked scanning anywho. But it was fun finding all that strange shit in systems. Different strokes for different folks.
Gone, gone, gone…
I’m happy.
we be smokin’ in the out-house. I’ve been tempted to paint a half-moon on the door…
thanks, i grew up listening to country, rock n roll, r&b and classical. my parents had very different music tastes and we spent a lotta time in the car doing car vacations to see relatives.
I still have some chili left if you need a fillup…I might even have some fresh peppers to heat it up for you!!
not yet… tomorrow however, is a whole nutter story
You are a dealer. Plain and simple!
BB did you resolve the scanner issue you were having??
morning/evening all,
since this is late late night (almost 8AM for me) i’ll ramble briefly.
i was in New Orleans in the summer of ‘76 to do a gig at the SuperDome of all places.
one of the guys with me had been in the Army back in the sixties. he had worked with
a men’s chorus and Allen Toussaint was his accompanist. he had no idea who Toussaint
was at the time but they got along well. a few years later Allen invited him to visit and he did.
boy, was he surprised.
anyway, while we were in New Orleans Ron said i should come along with him to visit
Toussaint at SeaSaint Studios so i did. when we got there some young musicians were
laying down rhythm tracks. these were kids fresh off the streets and Allen was patiently
teaching them chords they needed but didn’t yet know. after a while he stopped them for
a break and came to talk to Ron and me.
i will never forget meeting him. when he talked to mei felt after about half a minute that
he knew everything about me. it was as though he had some kind of mystical power.
i’ve never, ever, had that experience, before or since.
Might be a junker, but it was fun tryimg amd thamk you for your help today. I hope you and snuggles had a pleasant afternoon!!
COOL
I have met some people and new instantly we were friends and have remained so for many years even though distance separates us these days we still manage to stay in touch..
she was busy but we have had a nice dinner together with the youngest son… She is now in never never land dreaming away
wow fahrender
that is so forking kewl. a treasured memory.
BB did you find the correct drivers from HP??
That’s beautiful! Thanks.
Do it! It does have an outhouse kind of look. Really though, I think it’s cool that you guys smoke a lot of fish to save for the winter. It seems so NATURal.
i agree with ya loohoo
it definitely needs a half-moon, et
If you haven’t seen Paris’s video here is a link… put that Wrinkled old White Guy in His Place: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/64ad536a6d
I shall pack it in early! I bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
aloha, ct
ET tell me thats not an electric smoker in that shed of yours…
Damn did I have a good row across the Bay after the Board of Supervisors public comment. The anger gives good drive for the 100 strokes sprints I am doing to get speed and power. (pedal to the metal) Cover lot more territory with fewer strokes maybe 15 to 25% faster and can eat more yum. This is also very satisfying getting in shape.
The Kenai Penninsula Symphony is playing one of my pieces - a Ragtime tune about a friend who died early last year – this coming weekend, in homer and Kenai. They asked how I wanted to be paid. I replied, “A halibut fishing charter.” Going next week. Tomorrow, we’re going to Whittier and Prince William Sound, for Coho salmon.
valley girl may have something to say. you’ll recall she was working with the martin campaign.
nite tuttle
It is. It is a hotplate, with a cast iron pot full of alder chips smoldering away. Works fine, and doesn’t use a tremendous amount of juice.
Correct drivers no. HP 5300c if you find em i’ll take em by link. Was on the HP site the devise had flashing light yesterday today steady lght. Tried changing the USB cable made no noticeable difference. I’ll call HP manana.
i remember the tune and the story of your friend, et. your payment sounds perfect for you. gonna be taking pictures?
Nighters. Did you see that Teddy gave you and I a h/t today?
Hope so. My good camera went on the fritz last spring, so everything I’ve shot since has been on the iPhone.
That was a wonderful and lasting tribute.
newtonusr, just to say that you were not ‘trolled’ last night. I don’t know what bug bit Norske’s butt, but I’ve been reading at FDL since Jane was writing it all by herself……and damned fine writer she is. I was on dial up and haloscan was a drag and I was working and couldn’t really get into the mix. I don’t know what I said that set him off, but I do appreciate your good spirit. Jane wrote for months with little feed back. I don’t know exactly when reddhedd began giving her legal expertise……and then some others came along. My recollection is that Phoenix Woman was one of the first commenters early on (and I do recall TRex very early if only for a drive by)…..and then came back more actively later on. Whatever. I just don’t want you to think that you got punked. If my wishing that the site wouldn’t be trashing unnecessarily and ‘catapulting the propaganda’ about a ‘black baby’, well, my bad. This place doesn’t come with a rule book. Maybe there should be a list of what a reader has to agree with in order to comment. Anyway, thanks for you good sense.
Dang I thought you would’ve used the primitive method… Good nite ET keep up the great work in Alaska and kick those Rethugs outa office!!
Sleepy time and to all a good tommorow.
Before you waste another moment worrying about it, don’t. Norske misread you completely and pounced.
g’nite bb
What happened to David’s thread?
i am looking to get a digital camera – mine died. any good recommendations. i do know that i want a fairly large screen and easy to read buttons since i have old eyes. nothing fancy, just a good camera. i know nothing about digital cameras other than i need to replace my very old HP 310.
Scroll to the bottom of the front page and click “previous entries’ I think.
well, we didn’t become friends or stay in touch, etc.
it was actually a little spooky. i felt like he was a kind of svengali, but not in an evil kind of way, he just seemed to have this ability to understand every thing about you very quickly…..
what do you mean? its here and loaded fine for me
LOL – primitive enough. Night, nahant…
nite all, that pesky work is calling ……
nite nahant
BB there here is the link to the driver for the 500c that you can either download (76mb) or order the cd from

Dugg, nahant. I am here. Was somewhat busy earlier this evening watching the local primary results, in which I played a part.
Just now lurking my way through the comments, don’t know if you are still around.

OK, OK. Reverting to kiss-ass mode.
Iraq sitting on Bonanza from high oil prices: http://deepbackground.msnbc.ms…..48831.aspx
was on the front page of both the nytimes and wa poo earlier.
If ya read the article be sure and tell them that the Iraqi’s can always pay us back for all we “The American Tax Payers” have done to help them with our $$$ and Blood treasure!
Missed it in both places … was a tad busy…
ok, pups, the pantry is finally done. off to sort the rest of the clothing into pod, donate, and take with me.
g’nite pups and thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
G’nite, Suzanne
sorry, nahant, i’m tired and should have worded that better. i should have said that better.
g’nite pups. boy, will i sure be glad when this place is packed up and ready to vacate. of course, that only leaves me halfway done – still all the unpacking to do.
nite suz
I don’t want to put a lot of info on the Toobz as my role was somewhat backstage, but my role included writing, which is something I feel I am good at. And it was gratifying, because my candidate did win, by a margin that was comfortable but not so much as to make me feel that my input did not make a difference. Did some grunt work as well, whatever I could do to help, and it was appreciated. So I feel pretty good about it. Score one for the good guys.
And to show their gratitude to the American taxpayers, the Iraqis are leasing all of that oil to
AmericanCayman Islands oil companies.night Suz, if you’re not gone yet. I have been catching up with the thread. See you next time (I’m not leaving, but I guess you are)…
nite Suz tell Token good nite for Tucker who is already snuggling with his MOM
Suz don’t you worry no offense taken meant and none taken(:>)) Sleep well if ya can on da couch…OUCH my back hurts just thinking about it!!!
nahant, I have not had an opportunity to try any chili experiments yet but I have saved all your input from the other night for when I do.
I have a question about tomatoes. You said you use fresh tomatoes, blended. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to take advantage of the tomato season by blending and freezing some tomatoes for future use (the best I can find locally). Would that be an improvement over commercially canned tomatoes that would be worth doing?
On that note I think I will join the sleeping ones here… haveta visit Stanford again in the AM and drop what they wanted me to collect all day and then give them some more blood… hope they are planning to leave me some!! Night Pups Sleep well when you get there….
nite nahant, let’s talk tomatoes sometime
glad you covered the Diggs tonite
if you have the space yes.. just be sure to get as much of the air out of the zip lock before freezing and lay them flat, if you you don’t.. well you will find out if not… POOFF
nite nahant. again.
jeez, can’t we chase this guy off?
ya havta try harder than that!!
Wow. Per AP’s Pete Yost:
1,726 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen wigwam and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
We need a new administration in both the White House and leadership in Congress to set up a permanent structure for on-going investigations into the fascist crimes of the last 50 years goin back ta JFK…this is it folks, if Obama lets these bastards off the hook this time we won’t get another chance or a free election.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, IT’S ALL ABOUT THE STRUGGLE!!
Exactly! Along that line, I’ve put a lot of work into laying out this argument that pardoned officials can be brought to justice anyway.
I was hoping you would link to your diary again. Thanks.
Jean Duley (alias Jean Wittman): Former Motorcycle Gang Member/Hard Drug User
I’d be shocked, shocked if the the WaPopos buried another lede:
Hey — and who says Jean Duley lacks expertise in working with sociopaths?
Social expertise, clinical expertise: what’s the big diff?
Gee. Wonder if her buddies in the motorcycle gang always just let Jean bogart her personal heroin/PCP/cocaine stash….or if she ever shared a dose or two of her hard drugs with anyone else?
And I wonder what the Federal statute of limitations is for “sharing”? Is that like “distribution”?
Gee. Wonder the statute of limitations for “distribution” is?
Oh well: I’m sure she was never around anyone who “trafficked”.
Wonder if Jean Duley (alias Jean Wittman) first ran into criminal trouble when she was using opiates? Or cocaine? Or PCP? Or other DEA controlled “you name it”?
Naah. Feds and local law enforcement never force former opiate abusers/”hard drug” abusers into serving as informants — do they?
Bonus wonder: what criminal charges show up (or were sealed) for Jean Wittman? Any drug diversion(s)?
Naah — the WaPopos would have already checked that out, right?
I’d be shocked, shocked if they hadn’t.
(h/t FDL contributors re the WaPo article)
bailing out no. nite wigwam
nite pups
nite newton — sleep well!
off to bed myself – g’nite pups.
I am very impressed with the Panasonic line of digital cameras. They have Leitz (that’s Leica) optics (most models) and true image stabilisation [sic].
Mine works a treat.
Brace yourself. Per Glenzilla this morning:
Attaturk is upstairs!
Tool
Yep. That sure told the story she appeared to act under FBI handling: her motorcycle gang/hard drug use hx sure suggests how Duley/Wittman engaged in activities that can force one to serve as an informant: or else.
NPR (classical) just told me the FBI has announced that the case of deadly anthrax mailings has been solved. Just a few loose ends to be wrapped up.
http://www.npr.org/templates/s…..d=93241443
Yeah, like who did it.
