For those of you who follow professional football, I give you the bizarre story that just gets more bizarre.
Brett Favre, the guy who would be the Mario Cuomo of professional sports — if dozens of boxers hadn’t pre-dated the "I retire, I unretire" act, is back with the Green Bay Packers.
At least for now.
And then it gets strange.
Holy Lombardi! The Packers have hired Ari Fleischer as a consultant. That’s right, that Ari Fleischer.
The Green Bay Packers have apparently decided they need a little help on the public relations front when it comes to handling the ongoing Brett Favre saga.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Packers will employ former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer for one month as a consultant.
Why? I have no frickin’ idea. I thought Ari Fleischer was busy this Summer heading groups slandering Obama — but I guess since the McCain campaign decided to cut out the middle-man on such things and do it themselves he has time on his hands.
This just in, the Chicago Bears, the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions are the new axis-of-evil.
Sadly, Matt Millen of the Lions just hired Scott McClellan.

A beatdown of the Green Bay sports press by Comical Ari would have been fun. Won’t be necessary now that Favre’s back, tho.
Oh no– now the Packers’ season ticket commercials will feature the twin towers burning in the background.
Good morning, pups. It’s [gag] Kristol, Cohen and Krugman today. Wee Billy Kristol is all ready to tell John McCain “How To Pick a V.P.,” and he says there are at least four competing theories in the John McCain camp pointing in different vice-presidential directions. Mr. Cohen gives us “Aux Barricades! France and the Jews,” and tells us that a columnist-cartoonist’s comment about President Nicolas Sarkozy’s son and his Jewish fiancée has stirred a French intellectual storm. Mr. Krugman’s column is titled “A Slow-Mo Meltdown.” He says even a slow-mo economic crisis can do a lot of damage if it goes on for a year and counting.

The coffee and tea are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. I know absolutely, positively nothing about football, but I do know something about Ari Fleischer. Have the Green Bay Packers lost their collective mind? Have a great day.
Why do the Packers need a liar to become a spokesman? Couldn’t they find a Packers fan to take the job?
Marion, Thanks for reading Kristol so that we don’t have to. GA is going to be hot this week so take care.
Gotta tell a story of campaigners over the weekend. I was enjoying a relaxing afternoon when some campaigners for our Senate candidate came by looking for signatures and money. The candidate is/was a DLCer so I had no money and gave no signature. The campaigners were doing double duty by looking for money for obama. I said that I would not be voting for either obama or McSame in this election and would be voting for McKinney or writing in a candidate. The campaigner then said “But if you don’t vote for either of the two top candidates the system will not work!” No shit said I and pointed out that the “system” was the problem by giving us the likes of Raygun, Bush1, Clinton and the shithead in the WH that we have now. I don’t think I changed the campaigner’s mind but he did at least acknowledge that I was right.
I must say that I will be voting for no candidate that wants off shore drilling, is threatening to Iran, is in favour of state sponsored murder, is opposed to gun control, voted in favour of FISA and does not consider that even a deranged pregnant woman should have an abortion.
Oh and as a Pats fan since old Billy started the team I can only say that Green Bay deserves Ari…. and the idiot Favre.
We’ve had heat advisories almost every day. Just about the only thing in the garden that hasn’t collapsed is the eggplant. The poor yard is pretty much on its own because it’s just to hot to go out and do anything. Thank heaven for air conditioning and fans!
Um, that would be TOO hot … Preview is my friend. Preview is my friend. Preview is my friend.
marion – are you having normal temps for this time of year? or is this heat wave something out of the ordinary?
Butch Songin for Prez….
Gerhard Schwedes for Veep
Selise, I don’t know where Marion is but Atlanta is running higher temps than normal. We should be in the high 80’s this week, instead of the mid 90’s we are going to have this week.
Sorta makes sense since the Repubes and Ari’s mantra is “whining isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” Didn’t Vince Lombardi say something similar?
Bonkers, LOL, That is actually Lieberman’s motto!

i asked because although dallas temps look high, as i recall, it was usual to have an extended heat wave at least once during the summer.
good luck staying cool.
Bonkers, you win the intarnets.
aHAHAHAHA The Packers can have Ari!

I wanna know what’s up with the pic? Who’s the idiot in the [gag] Yankees jacket? Football? Isn’t that the game they play in Europe that has all the violent fans?
Great choice in choosing Ari! He’s very good at lying, deceiving, and distorting the facts.
Off topic:
My friends and I had a great time at the Bruce Springsteen concert Saturday night:

As always, the trip had it’s moments. We loved every minute of it, though.
(Please excuse the comments by the right wing trolls. They have to crap in the backseat of the WNI limo when I park the limo for the night to be with friends! They take advantage of me being gone.)
Scarecrow’s up!
Obama and McCain Move Towards Drilling Compromise
Wow, looks like you really did have a blast, Kay :)
LOL. First time I ever saw a troll use troll as part of his/her username. At least the fool is somewhat honest. I’m beginning to think most trolls are giggly 13-year olds.
We did! OMG what an experience. Like I said in the post, Bruce Springsteen gets in your head after you watch him live. I’m serious. I can now understand why some of you have seen him over 30 times! He’s veeeeeeeeery addicting.
He put on a great show for us. It was a bahn burnah for sure.
SouthernDragon, I can’t stand the trolls. They are a bunch of giggly 13 year olds who drool down their necks & wear helmets. LOL!
Okay, going to work! Have a great day everyone! ;-)
Now I am on Brett’s side.
yo Ari, the new rug is looking a bit cheesy.
