Since 2001 the United States, meaning you, the taxpayer has given $11 billion to Pakistan. A healthy proportion of that money has funded Pakistani military and intelligence services.
And, are you getting what you pay for?
U.S. intelligence officials have concluded that elements of Pakistan’s military intelligence service provided logistical support to militants who staged last month’s deadly car bombing at the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan’s capital, U.S. officials familiar with the evidence said yesterday.
The finding, based partly on communication intercepts, has dramatically heightened U.S. concerns about long-standing ties between Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency, or ISI, and Taliban-allied groups that are battling U.S. forces in Afghanistan, according to two U.S. government officials briefed on the matter.
Of course, Pakistan remains a key hiding place for Al Qaeda and Taliban leaders. So we spend billions to stay in Afghanistan and billions to Pakistan to allegedly help us in the effort against terrorist groups. Which Pakistan then spends to help with terrorist attack in Pakistan working with Taliban & Al Qaeda leadership which operate out of their country.
Sounds like the kind of plan that could be put together only with the indirect assistance of the Bush Administration and endorsed by John McCain.
Good thing nobody ever gets called on to explain this. But that barbecue is sooooooooo good.

Yum, barbeque!
U.S. intelligence officials have concluded that elements of Pakistan’s military intelligence service provided logistical support to militants who staged last month’s deadly car bombing at the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan’s capital,
So let me get this straight we are not paying Pakistan to go after al Quieda?
We are not paying Pakistan a bribe so that we can go after Ossama ourselves?
Instead we are paying Pakistan to start a war with India, FEAKIN NUCLEAR POWER!
Who is running foreign policy Darth, Condi? What Moron is responsible for this?
Pakistan’s intel service created and trained the Tailban who were Ossama’s BFF but we still gave them money?
Year after Year of Bush giving these guys money but we still don’t have Ossama does nobody at the WH ever check to see if we are getting our money’s worth.
“Since 2001 the United States, meaning you, the taxpayer has given $11 billion to Pakistan.”
11 billion to get one guy, years of effort, years of fighting Ossama IN THE WRONG COUNTRY!
Can we hang people for being Treasonously Stupid?
Sounds like the kind of plan that could be put together only with the indirect assistance of the Bush Administration and endorsed by John McCain.
Lets see if the Press asks John McCain’s opinion on this? I wonder what Karl Rove would do with this information if he was a Democrat?
(this is a Pinata a fun fact so filled with potential humor that everyone can take a turn whacking the Snark out of until its belly breaks giving us all laugh candy.)
Good thing nobody ever gets called on to explain this. But that barbecue is sooooooooo good.
How good can the food be if McCain shops at Sam’s club have you had their salsa? Have you seen the fruit flies flying over the fresh food section? I’ve never seen anything that bad at third world markets.
(The family who owns Sam’s Club and Walmart gives real big to the GOP)
Also somehow I don’t see McCain springing for Costco for the press…although he might lie and say he did.
Nite Folks!
We have supported:
Israel, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the Taliban, Iran (under the Shah and, oops! Iran Contra), Iraq/Saddam (before we didn’t), South Africa (before Mandela), Nicaragua (when it was under the odious thumb of the Somoza family). Is there a pattern here? Seems to be …..
How many incompetent/repressive/treacherous regimes are we going to support before the world sees through our hypocracy? Oh, wait a minute, we just got called out for accusing the Chinese of electronic surveillance ….
Mr. Atta Turk, does this mean the Bush Administration is put on the terrorist watch list, the no fly list, and has all their funds frozen? Cause that is what I think is done to entities here that aid and abet terrorism….
“Al Qaeda” and “Osama” do not exist, and no one here can prove that they do. It’s all just a ruse by the banksters to remove money from our wallets and keep us fearful. The politicians work for the banksters…they all know the truth.
It worked.
I just don’t understand how you can expect the military industrial complex to justify the expenditure of hundreds of billions of dollars for umpteenth generation fighter jets and nuucler submarines and rifles that shoot around corners. Besides we need a market for the old stuff.
Good morning, pups. It’s Bobo and Krugman today. Bobo is “Missing Dean Acheson.” He whines that in a de-centered world, all it takes is a few well-placed parochial interests to bring a global process tumbling down. He’s also given us a particularly hideous neologism: “globosclerosis.” Mr. Krugman asks “Can This Planet Be Saved?” He says the skirmish over drilling is the opening to a much bigger fight over environmental policy.

The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes this morning. The sage plants in my garden have decided to try to take over the world, so if you like sage there’s a big bunch of it on the counter. Have a great day.
Marion!
There was quite a late night back and forth on food and recipes on another thread today. I am trying to FedX one of my specialities to Suzanne’s party–I am very far away; the discussion got to baking. I am a serious baking aficianado and so are you. I also have roasted coffee for half a century. So I opined that you and I ought to open a FDL coffee shop together.
Disclaimer: This is not, alas, a serious business tender.
The Anthrax case is big news today, as one of the scientists from Fort Dietrich has “apparently” committed suicide after having been notified that charges would be (falsely) filed against him.
The government has already posted an entire Wikipedia page of Bruce E. Ivins.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too suspicious.
Another bio-scientist dead…nothing to see here…move along.
Surely Dr. Zack and Donald Rumsfeld are relieved.

Just by coincidence, $11 bil is the amount that ExxonMobil earned
last quarter ( plus or minus a few hundred mil for executive pay).
So, a modest proposal: each major oil company should “adopt” a developing country,
give the country 1/4 of its annual profits as foreign aid, and then use
time-tested US management techniques to make said government more
honest and transparent.
I mean, it worked so well in Texas and Alaska.
So the charges were false. Well this is certainly important and critical information; and you base this unsupported declaration of fact on exactly what pray tell? Let me make a prediction, you got plunger poo, thats what.
Today I am making Brioche and trying to ignore the fact that the piginchief is just up the street in Kennebunk. Somehow the air seems dirtier and the polution worse when that prick is around, he should just stay in texas where his filth would hardly be noticed.
$11 billion is a small price to pay to allow the goopers to have a permanent majority….. bastards
A number of persons that could give information that might be damaging to bushco commit suicide or die in small airplanes. This also happens in England when someone decides to kill themselves rather than testify against Tony Poodle. It is just tidier that way.
Sounds like a splendid idea! You roast the coffee and I’ll choose the loose teas. Who knows — maybe your coffee will teach me what all the fuss is about. I’ve always preferred tea, but I’m willing to learn! I think it was Elliott who is looking forward to a HUUUGE celebratory brunch in 172 days, when our current long national nightmare comes to an end.
We’ve paid $11 billion to protect Osama bin Laden (dead or alive)? Wow. And to think the right wingers of America squak at spending $1 on welfare.
I was not fully awake this am when I saw the clip of McCain agreeing that Obama was using the race card.Typical R mod, accuse the opponent of doing what they’re doing. But my instant groggy reaction to watching that was how pitiful McCain looked, acted, sounded to me. He doesn’t look much like a candidate who is up to the job or enthusiastic about it either. What a dynamic, exciting candidate, not! How long is the groupie press going to keep pretending that McCain & his presidential campaign is not a muddled mess? The R’s are probably already grooming a candidate for 2012.
McTeleprompter doesn’t look or act presidential at all. He’d make a great Sunday School teacher, though.
Don’t ask how I got it, but here’s a leaked version of McC*nt’s next campaign ad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV0SbkrG44Y
Word has it, it’ll only be released directly to Conglomerate Media outlets, so watch for wall-to-wall coverage.
Anthrax suspect has been found dead! Wow. Isn’t he the guy that just got millions in a settlement? Just wow.
Oops. Wrong guy. This is a scientist who helped in investigating the Anthrax attacks. He was about to be charged with the crime. Oh boy.
Actually, no, it’s not. Different guy.
He died Tuesday, and this news comes out on Friday – quoting an “unidentified colleague” as the basis for the suicide claim?
GIVE ME A BREAK!
The missing $9 BILLION in cash, shrink wrapped on pallets and flown to Iraq, is still missing. Nothing would make me happier to have Alan Grayson on Capitol Hill. Let’s help him out:
http://www.graysonforcongress.com/
(great ad on his site)
How many times have you heard your President and his operatives tell you that “there have been no terror attacks on US soil since 9/11″
A Hundred? More?
Clearly they wanted you to disremember the Anthrax attacks – which lead directly to a DOD weapons facility.
Now why would your own (s)elected officials want you to forget about the anthrax attacks?
Got logic?
http://plungerspeaks.blogspot.com
msnbc-scarborough asked his co-hostess a few followup questions about her lead-up to the obama /mccain ‘hate’ story-she repeated what she said again, then again, verbatim, obviously a ‘talking point’ and she had no other insight.duh? stayed on the channel because david shuester was on it..and flipping it over now. had cable for two weeks, first i’ve watched it.went to break, she shuffled her ‘notes’ to the next page..obama playing the ‘race’ card….entertainment tonight for politics. won’t be watching it again. ewwwww they just showed the latest ‘the view’ sparring clip……why does whoopi bother? well, i’m glad she does.turning channel back to cspan.
reporting on pakistan? noone wants to put their toe in the water about pakistan, cuz maybe they’ll have to go there to report on it. wait, no, they wouldn’t-papers not sending reporters overseas nowadays, and the networks are too busy reporting/inciting stories about obama and mccain. i guess we’ll have to wait for frontline to do another show about it.
Matt on the Today show is interviewing Axelrod and Davis. He’s asking Axelrod, “why the Obama campaign didn’t stay above the fray?” wtf Davis was allowed to repeat that the Obama camp is playing the race card, not us.
Behold the power of the Quayle WingEs…bar-b-qued of course.

Nexus: Anthrax, Zack, Gilead, Rumsfeld
On the 9/11 anthrax attacks, the mainstream media went from 24×7 anthrax hysteria to complete amnesia that the attacks ever occurred. The amnesia began as soon as all the evidence for the source of the attacks began to point in the wrong direction. It is, of course, absolutely verboten to mention the name of Philip Zack ever in discussing this glaringly obvious false flag op.
I missed this one: Philip Zack of 911 anthrax fame was employed by Rumsfeld’s biotech firm Gilead:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/…..sage/18147
Rumsfeld served as Gilead (Research)’s chairman from 1997 until he joined the Bush administration in 2001, and he still holds a Gilead stake valued at between $5 million and $25 million, according to federal financial disclosures filed by Rumsfeld.
The forms don’t reveal the exact number of shares Rumsfeld owns, but in the past six months fears of a pandemic and the ensuing scramble for Tamiflu have sent Gilead’s stock from $35 to $47. That’s made the Pentagon chief, already one of the wealthiest members of the Bush cabinet, at least $1 million richer.
Rumsfeld isn’t the only political heavyweight benefiting from demand for Tamiflu, which is manufactured and marketed by Swiss pharma giant Roche. (Gilead receives a royalty from Roche equaling about 10% of sales.) Former Secretary of State George Shultz, who is on Gilead’s board, has sold more than $7 million worth of Gilead since the beginning of 2005.
News Story identifying Dr. Philip Zack as the man caught entering the Anthrax storage area at Fort Detrick without authorization.

Conspiracy Flashback to the Ford Administration – and look who is running the ANTHRAX coverup…
http://www.frankolsonproject.o…..choke.html
The conspiracy originated at the top, in the White House, initiated by Donald Rumsfeld and Richard Cheney. It had just been learned that the CIA allegedly drugged its employee Frank Olson with LSD before his supposed suicide.
OT WalMart has reportedly brought in all its managers to disseminate info that Obama would lead to unionization of their stores and increased prices. The megachain that sues disabled former employees for their injury awards. Gee they would have downsize their packages all over again>
and the jazz man tea is intense!! needs a little honey, was a kick in the afternoon, i really miss it.
Daschle: Congress Denied Bush War Powers AND DOMESTIC SPYING in U.S.
By Barton Gellman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, December 23, 2005; Page A04
The Bush administration requested, and Congress rejected, war-making authority “in the United States” in negotiations over the joint resolution passed days after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, according to an opinion article by former Senate majority leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) in today’s Washington Post.
Daschle’s disclosure challenges a central legal argument offered by the White House in defense of the National Security Agency’s warrantless wiretapping of U.S. citizens and permanent residents. It suggests that Congress refused explicitly to grant authority that the Bush administration now asserts is implicit in the resolution.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…../12/22/AR2
And then…a few weeks later…
W A S H I N G T O N, Nov. 1 A group of military scientists is feverishly examining the microscopic spores of anthrax sent to Sen. Tom Daschle for clues to a mystery that could have profound implications for the United States and its ongoing war on terror: Who made it?
Since they included hourly workers, Dept. supervisors, they not only walked a fine line, they crossed it.

House comes in at 9 this morning
agreed
CNN talked this morning about how the McCains are getting ready to make some business deals with the Commie Cubans! Oh boy. The McCains say it’s a legal beer deal, but to his supporters, what are they going to say? Bah hahahahahaha! I can’t wait. I’m sure they have a very good explanation as to why their guy who hates Commies and is still living in the Cold War has no problem with making beer deals with Cuba. *whistling & twirling finger around my ear*
And let’s not forget about the ricin attacks at the Capitol (even right wing Newsmax wrote about it):
http://archive.newsmax.com/arc…..0421.shtml
There have been lots of attacks on our nation since 9/11/01 but Georgie wants everyone to believe there hasn’t been.
a caller just brought up ‘alligator alley’ highway in florida being leased to a foreign company..guest said also going on in indiana and texas he said, she wanted to know who came up with the idea–he’s saying it’s ok to have ‘user fees’….government monopoly bad, etc…maybe this is going to be blackwater’s new venture.
this is not good.
one reason-those who can afford it can use the roads. those who can’t? won’t be able to.
bbl
oh yeah, nothing wrong with our infrastructure.
Privatization all good
according to him
Q: What’s worse than a public monopoly?
A: A private monopoly.
my 42–guest also said he didn’t have ‘details’ about the florida highway.bull…they knew there would be pushback about this.
he’s a contracts lawyer kinda guy….federal highway administrator , bet he doesn’t have a background in it.
he’s a good example of the ‘peter principle’.
bbl
Need to get those WalMart employees off the road – reduces congestion.
They read my all of the bio I sent them but this:
you put in the route and you can see if the inspection reports are good bad or indifferent — gives details when you run your mouse over the bridge and see, ie, when the bridge has been inspected
yep, career lawyer–and advisor to republican legislators..and campaign advisor.
came to the department two years ago.
acting administrator for the federal highway administration is a lawyer with absolutely no background in it.this is the man in charge of our country’s highway infrastructure.
i hope hugh adds this one to the bush scandals list.
I wonder what kind of attack the Bush Regime will use this time around on America before the November election? Biological? Chemical? Or will they go nuclear? Assholes.
Okay, going to work. Have a great day everyone. ;-)
somehow I don’t think this is the safest way to go, but gee that’s just me.
*sigh
bye Kay!

Here’s the omitted link.
Dogs is getting mutinous, now that I have moved, I must walk her.
that’s exactly who i was thinkin’ about. a lot of people here now have to travel 1 1/2 hours away for jobs unless they want to work at walmart.and was thinking about the people who were ’stuck’ in new orleans.
I apologize for being incoherent. Painkillers. Honest.

lol!
was wondering about that
Ha! not according to the private monopolizers!!!!,
and elliot-thanks for the link…he was somethin’that was really depressing.
hope hugh adds this appointment, hell, even his hiring to the department on his list of scandals, this rates pretty high on my list.
gotta go load the car–goin’ to see my family!
take care pups
(and i started a blog!-gonna be mostly music and art and stuff-click on my name)
The R’s are probably already grooming a candidate for 2012.
WAG alert – lemme throw out a name: Mike Pence (IN 6th)
They will foment a crisis of some sort, of that you can be certain. What with all of the executive orders W has promulgated allowing him to take over the reins of gov’t in toto on the slightest pretence…it gives one to wonder, doesn’t it?
Brioche! Wish I had some to hand here for brekkies today!
Hope it turns out swell.
I fancy teas as well, Marion.
I love this source: portorico.com. They are in NYC and environs. Very nice tea list and wonderful quality at a fraction of the prices other specialty dealers ask. Also they are witty and cheerful folks with whom to trade. Efficient shipping, too. I like everything about this wonderful merchant.
Whilst doing an extended stint in E. Europe, I saw that school children are required to save, dry, and bring in to their schools orange and other citrus peels. These are sold for the making of fruit teas. This unnerved me inasmuch as most cirus is sprayed with toxic fungicides and the packing boxes warn against ingesting citrus peels. I love fruit teas, and this has considerably dampened my enthusiam. Stone drag.
won’t find any of that in maureen’s teas.mixes them all by hand.
seriously, check out her teas..when i moved here, se ohio, found her in a little country ‘department/grocery/hardware’store-one big room was hers-a wall of herbs and spices and teas in big jars…tried her teas, couldn’t believe after all of these years finally a great tea. many kinds.in the middle of ‘nowhere’.
her business has grown exponentially since then, but the same quality. i’m glad, i couldn’t do without it.is special stuff.and she looks and smiles just like her picture on her website. not one bad or negative thing to say about her or her teas, and have known her and enjoyed her teas for years.
I’ve said it all along, Musharraf wil be the next Saddam Hussein, except he has real nuclear weapons that we have funded.
Don’t worry, McCain will just sit down with Musharraf and say, “cut out the bullshit.”
