Al Franken went up about noon today with a radio ad on Coleman’s take, which not only included 20 thousand (apparently $10,000 twice over) but Coleman also received three Fishing Trips in Alaska, valued at $6,000 each. Said Fishing Trips were with the top Oil and Gas Lobbyists.

Coleman apparently cannot undo his Fishing, but has now announced a profound interest in Children’s Cancer Research, and they will be getting his Stevens cash.

Since Minnesota has plenty of lakes, and most of them have assorted fish, one has to wonder why Coleman had to go to Alaska to do his fishing. I see many possibilities in following that line of investigation.

It appeared to me the Senate Republicans were willing to negotiate with the Democrats, but then today they went haywire and said “NO” to everything, including the Paul Wellstone Mental Health Parity Act.

KKKarl’s been recommended for a contempt charge.
TTTed’s been indicted.
Dubya signed the Mortgage Aid act in a closet, so nobody would notice.
McCain has lied and even Ms. Woodruff of PBS news reported it.
FDL now reports on the money-go-round in this post.

They’ve gone off the rails. What should we do to help our dear ailing friends?

I don’t know why they chose not to continue to compromise and pass legislation, but if they can’t find a way to straighten-up and fly right, then they oughta be booted from Congress altogether. They can’t be happy that ‘dear leader’ has (perhaps) pushed them into this group suicide position. But, if that’s what they want, then we should do our best to replace every one of ‘em with a Democrat who will legislate.

I’m not really in favor of that kind of thing. I think American Republicans need Republican politicians to properly represent their interests and views. I also oppose the idea that “they” had complete control for a while and now it’s our “turn” to have complete power. That’s not what our system is about. I oppose that kind of manufactured outcome.

We need to convince Congressional Republicans it’s in their best interest to do the right thing and not hang out with the Bushie gang. How can we do that if they now believe that even losing massively won’t bother them so much?

I don’t see any choice. If they want to lose massively, then we should help them achieve their goal. Digg this post and let the world know the Republicans in Congress are just the employees of the oil companies and don’t give a hoot about Americans and our difficulties paying for $4/gallon gasoline and other things affected by oil prices. It’s the least we can do for our ‘dear dear friends’ in Congress.

Merkley released this statement today hitting Smith hard for his support of Stevens bridge to nowhere and drilling in ANWR:

“In Washington D.C., Gordon Smith has been doing what is best for Ted Stevens and George Bush, not what is best for Oregon,” said House Speaker Jeff Merkley. “Oregonians do not approve of the bridge to nowhere or drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and Gordon Smith knows it. Smith talks a good game in Oregon, but he is part of the problem in Washington

It’s also worth noting that Smith’s PAC Impact America gave Stevens $10,000.

And I heard the analysis this morning, because of the Stevens’ largess and big pockets, the people of Alaska enjoy per person the biggest % of federal $$ than any other of our states.
