Except that Marilyn Manson, as far as I know, never advocated eliminating people. It’s one thing when someone disturbed locks onto a particular artist (think Jodie Foster) as part of their mental illness and simply projects themselves or their agendas onto them; it’s quite another when the action is in harmony with what that public figure openly advocates.

Curious that the corporate media along with NPR has little if anything to say about this act of domestic terrorism but then if they did they would be forced to ask what role hate mongers in the corporate media have in precipitating these acts.

This is so incredibly tragic and sad…could it be a wake up call? Hannity & let freedom ring rants and berates in totally offensive ways, and unwilling to listen to any opposing voice, as a rule. And Savage, whom I have only recently heard, is slimy, mean, if not insane, to wit: autistic children. What will be do to create a more reasonable and kindly world? Sure. I just want to be clear that I’m not arguing along similar lines. That is, the O’Reilly fandom would be meaningless if not for the content of O’Reilly’s diatribes.

There was an attempt to connect Marilyn Manson’s content — his supposed nihilism — to the Columbine killers. Just like there were people who wanted to blame Natural Born Killers for some subsequent “copycat” killings.

Both of those cases involved critics who distorted the meaning of the respective artists’ messages to fit the killers’ actions. And in all such cases, what you’re looking at is the sort of random association that often occurs with mental illness or severe personality disorders.

In this case, however, there is simply a clear line between the right’s dehumanization and demonization of liberals, their eliminationist rhetoric, and this man’s actions. It’s every bit as clear as it was with Tim McVeigh, or Eric Rudolph, or any other number of right-wing domestic terrorists.

It should be publicized all over the country that his guy was reading Hannity, Savage, and O’Bullery. They are his role models and people should know it.

Gee, I wonder how long it will be before these guys trot out Michelle Malkin’s defense when Chad Castagana sent out his hoax-anthrax letters: “Hey, I have no idea why a crazy guy would want to hurt liberals.”

I went to my records and found a few of the “greatest hits” from my local talk radio hosts. (See below.)

“Radio is very powerful” Say the ad reps. “People act based on the suggestions of radio hosts to buy products!”

Then when something like this happens it will be “Calls to kill liberals have NO impact on listeners.” and “They were joking!”

Two of these hosts are still employed even though they lost 28 advertisers when we educated the sponsors on what they were saying every day about liberals, democrats, journalists and Muslims.

Only when revenue takes a hit will they change their policies and even then if they still see these people as ASSETS and not liabilities they will keep them on.

One thing that they will do is when they are challenged in what they say they will pretend that loosing advertisers over their repugnant comments on commercially supported broadcast radio is the same as the government censoring their speech. They also fail to remind people that the government already limits what they can say and they have been fine with that for decades. Plus if they do swear they have 7 second delays to deal with that.

(BTW, I also have full context of these clips and I can assure you that the full context would not change the meaning but if I’m challenged I can provide it. Also, as of Friday last week Savage’s lawsuit against CAIR for using his audio clips was thrown out of court, so I’m even more confident in my ability to use these audio clips to illustrate my point.)

Yep — radio is all-powerful, according to the ad folks. Has there ever been a case where someone has played those “advertise with us — we influence people” clips in a court of law?

Using spocko’s success story as an example, perhaps Pox Newz advertisers would like to hear about the hateful language spewed by their “stars” which helped fuel this nutcase to kill.

O’Loofah has explicitly called for a “terrorist attack” on San Francisco. There are many others similar to this from Pox Newz.

Are those respectable corporations that give Pox Newz millions of dollars condoning this sort of language, which we know for a fact has lead to deaths of innocent Americans?

It would be nice to have an organized movement to remind these advertisers over and over again about what kinds of speech and actions are supported by Pox Newz.

Imagine, if i had a website that was titled “ConservativesMustDie.com”. It would be considered vulgar, crude and threatening. In fact Homeland Stupidity might even think it is terroristic. Peterr. I don’t know. Of course they always want it both ways. I’ve heard them argue two opposite views about their influence in the same sentence!

Rush, Hannity and O’Reilly are very cagey. Savage is even now working the lines that I heard last year, “Out of context” and “That isn’t what I meant to say.”

I was advising the group that he sued and the case against them was just thrown out. I’m sooooo happy, but it just sucks that they were put under that kind of pressure. I was under it and to a degree I still am. If they know that these people make them money they will use everything (including liberals views of the availability of various view points) to protect them.

So Rush has no problem using the ACLU to defend him. I think that it is very important to remind people that sponsored talk radio is NOT the same as standing on the street in front of the federal building criticizing the government. If the government then told you to shut up and gagged you that would be different. What is fascinating to me is that the “Free Speech Zones” does almost EXACTLY that. That is something I’d like to point out too. Of course they use national security issues which I respect, but it is simply a dodge. If they wanted to they could frisk and vet everyone, but they don’t. It is the words that they are afraid of.

I hadn’t heard about the Savage comment, so I googled it. As the father of an autistic child, let me just say this: Mr. Savage is an ignorant jackass. He needs to spend some time with some autistic people and the families that love them. But I’m sure he’s too busy and important for that, so maybe he needs a vacation … and as far as I’m concerned, it needs to be unpaid. I’m going to find out who is advertisers are and, well, Spocko set a great example. Enough said.

That’s quite the stroke, finding detailed information on the murder suspects reading matter. That definitely puts the radio/tv blowhards on the spot. They need to be called down hard on this.

Tips.

1)Find out your local Savage advertisers. LOCAL is key. You can then say, “Hey, I live here and I’m sure you hadn’t heard about this so I wanted to let you know what he is doing on the show you are paying to advertise on.”

2) Send the letter to three people, vp of marketing, HR and PR. If you call, be polite and just ask them if they are familiar with what he has said.

3) DO NOT threaten to boycott. Simply ask them if they were aware of his comments on this subject (link to the Media Matters audio clips and stories) and ask “Do his views reflect your views? If not, then you might chose not to keep supporting him.” You might also want to check out the group
“Hate Hurts America” to see who has already pulled their ads.
They used my methods and got 18 advertisers to choose to stop advertising.

Not seeing what that has to do with crimes committed in the US by a hate-filled person urged on by hate speech.

It is the words that they are afraid of.

It is the TRUTH that they are afraid of! And do they like to twist the truth to their own ends!
A campaign against the advertisers of these media outlets just might be the best way to get these criminals yes criminals off the air! When they are inundated with calls, emails, faxes and demonstrations in front of their corporate headquarters they might think twice about supporting such vile filth by advertising their products.

I’d say it’s about time you sent your collection to all the advertisers of these disgusting shows asking them to examine their financial support for abeting violence like that exhibited in the church shootings in Knoxville.

If they have an ounce of decency in them they will withdraw their advertising from these shows.

I just found the statement by Talk Radio Network on Savage’s comments, and I think I’m even more pissed off than I was previously. You see, my son has an “autism spectrum” disorder (PDD-NOS) not “full-blown” autism, so the fact that my son is able to talk and communicate – however difficult it is for him – seems to place my son directly in Savage’s line of fire because my son doesn’t have what Savage apparently considers to be “real” autism.

I also note that Savage is claimed to be the originator of the phrase “compassionate conservatism”.

This should definitely be handled as a hate crime as the gunman chose victims of a particular [perceived] ‘persuasion’: Liberals. I doubt the co-religionists, ostensibly all Christian, although of different sects, who have championed the right wing will denounce the crime. More likely they will blame the victims for being liberals or that their creed was lacking in fundamentalist purity. It seems the predictable jeremiahs like Robertson and Dobson have not weighed-in. They’re on the run anyway and busy deflecting hurricanes or aiming them at gay parades and churches, like they aim their disciples towards hatred. I guess though if a Konservative Kristian had been murdered by an avowed liberal with Al Franken’s or Chalmers Johnson’s books at home they’d be howling though.
