Team Bush/McCain whines "media bias!" because the New York Times wants them to edit Reverse Ace’s latest Op-Ed draft for the paper. This despite the fact that the NYT endorsed McCain in the primary and has run at least seven Op-Eds by McCain since 1996. Or that the media’s been helping Bush/McCain by keeping things like these Iraq-related stories (or McCain’s endorsement of Obama’s Iraq withdrawal timetable, after he’d opposed one for so long) off of America’s TV evening newscasts.
Nothing like working the refs you already own, is there, Johnny?

Personal foul, offense, fifteen yards and first down.
Booyah, McCain is sucking hind tit even with every low ball thing the MSM can come up with to help him. That little fudge haus stunt was priceless!
Good morning, everyone! Where’s the coffee?
The fudge-packer jokes were flying thick and fast for a while there.
Now that Is funny.
Busted…were your ears burning? We were talking about teh funny and your cat blog made the list! (Selise linked it.)
Wow…Fox news using 8 year old video of McBush as if it is today…:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…../70/557248
Going against the grain, I think the NY Times made a mistake. I also think that’s why McCain’s numbers in some states went up. Nothing rallies the troops more than thinking your guy’s getting the shaft.
I don’t believe the polls.
Good Saturday morning to you PW. Cinnamon roll? With frosting.
Good Morning Phoenix Woman and Busted -
just about fell over when NYT asked Mayor McCheese to define winning – “Show Your Work !”
Whining about media coverage is certainly old hat- but every politician does it- because it works.
I got yer media coverage right here:
http://freewayblogger.blogspot…..in-la.html
About a million people. Yesterday.
Missed the fudge haus part but the attack of teh applesauce was rather enjoyable……still can’t believe CNN actually ran what appeared to be uncut footage (at least once). Would love to know who the person waving the camera away worked for – coulda been network or bush 3.0. *g*
So…..ummm…do you think BO is talking about Hillary?
“”Do you have a break at all?” asked Cameron.
“I have not,” said Obama. “I am going to take a week in August. But I agree with you that somebody, somebody who had worked in the White House who — not Clinton himself, but somebody who had been close to the process — said that, should we be successful, that actually the most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you’re doing is thinking. And the biggest mistake that a lot of these folks make is just feeling as if you have to be — “
http://blogs.abcnews.com/polit…..-pick.html
and working the refs pays off -
Today’s Op Ed sends him lots of neo-con love – they call him more hawkish than Chimpigula
Love your work……..would be worth a trip westward just to admire it. Stay safe!
The incident brought to mind when some Congressman (Wexler?) wrote an Op-Ed on impeaching Bush or Cheney (memory’s vague). Anyway, the Times wouldn’t print it. I was outraged. When a U.S. Congressman writes an op-ed, they should be obligated to print it. Just like blogs, no censorship (at least when it comes to our elected officials). Think of the insight we could gain.
Feel the same way now.
Wha? I missed it!
Morning PW!
here’s a cuppa
If Republicans wanna run on being so good for the economy, they’re going to have to explain why two more banks were closed by the feds: First National Nevada and First Heritage-CA.
Folks, check the FDIC status of your bank account, they are not all covered and there is a maximum amount covered as well.
Good Morning everyone…. waving Hi from the Oregon Coast….
Neither do 68% of those surveyed . . . *g*
LOL
Obama on Face the Nation tomorrow AM, McCain on ABC – wonder what they will cut and splice
good heads up eg :D
scroll down for some FDIC Basics
and MTP tomorrow is all Obama, all the time
Hi Katymine!
I grew up in Coos Bay. I sure do miss the coast but I have to admit the weather is a whole lot nicer up here!
Yeah. Dan Abrams had that a few nights ago. Absolutely shameless. The graphic on the screen said “Happening Now” and they used 8 year old footage.
Headed to Florence myself in a week. How’s the weather?
they’re gonna scream of course. Look, I know Obama talked about all that new kinda politics shit, but he’s gotta start fighting back on all this scurrilous shit. But PW’s obervation is excellent. They’re working the refs and it’s succeeding.
Today’s Pull Up A Chair…# 78…and then later I added on.
Well it WOULD be succeeding if McBush had something to show or tell when he succeeds in getting the cameras turned on. Cheese shots won’t cut it.
I’d like to see someone post the un-published op ed and red line it like an editor would, to show exactly why the NYT wouldn’t publish the piece. He is fast becoming either yesterday’s news or no news at all.
Not sure which is worse, that, or asking McCain a question, leaving the gaffe response on the cutting room floor and splicing in something more favorable
Nice piece PW.
My respond to button doesn’t work for me, here or at work either, is it just me?
Thanks Demi, and thanks Selise too!
She showed me a killer cat hair grooming tool that I need to check out.
I was wondering about something what with all the “Obama should be further ahead” bullshit ….. Do polls generally under-count minorities? Obama is gonna get huge numbers there, even despite voter suppression efforts.
Interesting this:
http://www.rasmussenreports.co…..p_election
Point of view you’re just not hearin’
Maybe McCain should just take a page from Alaska’s Rep Don Young when it comes to working the media — just write it yourself. From The Hill:
Ooops.
Methinks that Philip Munger may have fun with this one . . .
Cloudy in the morning but warms up during the day, bring your coat but you know that….. ya live in Oregon…. Thursday was pretty cold…
OMG saw my parents house that was damaged by fire 3 weeks ago….. the family/dinning room, kitchen are totaled and the contents are all smoke damaged…. they are safely in a executive condo in old town and scheduled to move to a rental vacation house on the north side of town on a lake…
My “reply” button works, but not the “show text” feature to see what someone else is replying to.
(to help the techies track down the gremlins, I run Firefox 2.0.0.14 on Windows XP)
I posted this link last night and I apologize to the people who sw it already but I just don’t want anyone to miss it. It’s must reading as far as I’m concerned. Doesn’t say anything we don’t already know, but when you consider the source it just buries McCain’s bullshit (bullshit is more than a gaffe) on Da Surge.
http://usacac.army.mil/CAC/mil…..rApr08.pdf
Well, hello you. Haven’t seen you for a while. I’m sure you’ve been here, I just missed ya. How’s tricks?
Good one! Thanks
He misspoke. Cut the guy a break. Taxpayer Hero. Golden Fleece. Wahtever. Could happen to anybody.
Well I grew up in Oregon- but now live in California. Always lived in the valley and only visited the coast infrequently. I love it down there though
WHYTF is the senate working as of early this am?????
Your parents are in Florence?
Question:
I am unable to open the the (show text)… I have a new laptop and still working on getting things working…. Is this working for others or is it like the new comments link?
Hi PeterR too.
It does seem that we each have differing glitchy problems. Obviouslly, my reply to button works, but not the show text. Also, like everyone else, I’m missing the new comments button. I surely (surly, as sometimes it is) run up and down these threads to catch up and try to respond. It does make it more difficult to get a real flowing conversation. But, we’re all doing the best we can, right all?
testing 1,2,3
Yes…. on the south side of the bridge and the river…
it’s a rethug drillfest orgy/dog the dems for not tearing up the planet to extract more “stuff” that tears up the planet bloviating puffhard waste of good oxygen. it’s a bitchfest for the camera, and they really think anyone cares about their histrionics and fake outrage. go home! have a weekend! spend time with the family while you all peruse the local want ads!
assholes.
No…it is FDL…I think they are working behind the scenes on stuff to get the Oxdown thing up, so things are a little wonky.
domenici allll going apopalectic (sp?) in his geriatric efforts to do as much damage as humanly possible before he retires………
Oh. Just wanted to let you guys know. After the events of this week past, I now have a new DAD. Dana Perino has been relieved of that designation and may now serve out the rest of Fucktard’s term without such recognition. I am honored to designate the second Beerfart DAD: Katie “Dumb As Dogshit” Couric.
Isn’t he retiring for some brain disease?
is this a trap?
Oh sure, now it works…
Florence sure has changed since I grew up. I lived in Newport and Toledo when I was a kid and then again in my early twenties. I used to go back and forth from Newport to Coos Bay on the weekends. The last time I went through Florence I didn’t hardly recognize it.
Yeah. Advanced shit for brains.
I’m sorry. That wasn’t nice.
Thanks…. didn’t know if it was firefox, not having the right media applications as I am having problems viewing youtubes in FF …
BTW Florence Oregon has multiple FREE wifi networks available in their downtown area….. Thanks Florence…. I can work from here and help my parents out at the same time…
Maybe not, but it is funny. I think anyways. Hi BFL.
well, I’ll take a chance.
What gets me is how all these —well, yes, assholes — always manage to pay lip service to alternative and energy sources. Oh of course we must develop them mumble mumble. Drilling is just one part of a comprehensive energy policy, doncha know? Yeah? Bullshit. Why is it the only part they talk about. Look, Fucktard was right. We’re addicted to oil (not that he gives a shit). So, feeding our addiction should be off the table, so to speak.
well, you know, after i posted it, i thought it was pretty mean to say. i mean the guy has a disease. If he gets real nasty about Obama, I reserve the right to use it again, though.
How you dune?
Now they’re talking about nuclre – think how much energy we could save if everyone glowed in the dark
McBush is running on drilling for oil and the surge- that’s about all he’s got. Obama is running on not being Bush- neither platform is imaginative- but Obama’s may be the more compelling.
LOL
LOL. Oh and by the way, anyone who says Barcak is opposed to coal should get smacked. he isn’t. he’s said that a gazillion times.
The technology is there, the incentives are not, yet.
Fer Chrissakes, Peterbilt has a hybrid Semi Truck!!!
LOL. Oh and by the way, anyone who says Barcak is opposed to coal should get smacked. he isn’t. he’s said that a gazillion times.
rumor has it that it’s SOME kind of physical problem. brain disease certainly makes sense, but i kinda think it has more to do with the little phone call he made to Iglasias and the NM USA’s subsequent firing. Dominici would have lost his next election on account of that. Heather Wilson did. But it’s never mentioned and he’s treated like royalty with massive media coverage on New Mexican msm.
i think there are shady land deals somewhere too, but it doesn’t get discussed much either.
Reply and Show Text both work for me.
the GOOD NEWS is he’s LEAVING!
who? DeMentalci?
Oh, Beer, I beg to disagree. I saw Dana this week for the first time in awhile. The worst, I thought. Uninformed, opinionated, dare I say arrogant. Talking about “This White House..” etc as if she is undisputed authority. I really do not see how anyone can take her seriously. IMHO, however.
right on time the NYTIMES web FRONT PAGE says:
Political Memo
Aiming for Presidential, Not Presumptuous
By JEFF ZELENY 24 minutes ago
Barack Obama’s overseas trip has provided fuel for his critics’ efforts to portray him as arrogant. Above, with Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Saturday in London.
anything else I can do for you, KKKarl?
best and keep up the fight,
yours,
Jeff.
i guess everybody is still without that thing at the bottom. what was it? “View recent responses” or somethin’?
How strange – I have reply but haven’t had show text in long time. Wonder why?
er–fixing the italics:

I’m doing pretty well. Holding on for dear life, like so many others. Tough days but also trying to Look On The Sunny Side.
Like right now. I’m ready to go out and rastle a coupla chores. Jeans, t-shirt, b-ball hat. Now, that’s fun stuff. See how easy I am these days?
Watching these guys on c-span it is obvious they didn’t forget their dumb-ass meds this AM.
A 60s-inspired “Flower Power” exterior paint job and tie-dyed seat covers come as standard equipment.
Paging Oilfieldguy . . .
And by covering deposits above the insured limit, as this transfer to Mutual of Omaha did, the FDIC is making folks complacent about their own deposits. Sooner rather than later, someone at the FDIC is going to say, “Hey, we can’t keep covering deposits above the limit” and a bank owned by non-Bush Pioneers and Rangers will fail. Then their depositors will be held to the strict limit.
I don’t have this sweet problem (ha!) but those of you who do should check out how to buffer your assets from the storm, should it come to your bank(s).
Great post, PW — working the refs is all Reverse Ace has got going. His campaign can’t even manage a grocery store appearance: applesauce tumbles into the aisle, McCottageCheese speaks in front of the Velveeta, and he needs his cheat sheet to “remember” the price of a gallon of milk.
Time for another Straight Talk Express staff shakeup?
BFL – as Blue Texan pointed out yesterday – and just why aren’t these same folks asking why McCheese is only 3 points up in his home state ???
Hi demi! I’m usually around, lurking. Sprout has a cousin in town, so we’re doing the tourist things – Universal, SeaWorld (my personal favorite), etc. – and I’m too tired to type. How u?
If they want to see unadalterated arrogance all they have to do is look to the Mother Sticker who is currently in the White house.
I certainly understand. I was very close to letting her keep tne title permanantly. She certainly has earned it. It was a tough call. What sealed the decisoon for me was Katie’s third or fourth follow up “Surge question.” The one where she sasy “I’m trying to understand here …….” I said to my TV, I said, “TV, just because she’s dumb as dogshit and don’t understand, don’t mean she can waste everybody else’s time.”
Absolutely true. Any theories?
The trailer is filled with batteries
Bank bailouts- a Bush family tradition….the ol man nearly bankrupted the nation with the savings and loan – “let’s deregulate em” bullshit- now junior’s gonna finish the job.
Sounds like a good attitude. I have weeding to do, but that can wait ’til tommorrow, no? Baseball hat? What team?
Can’t spell presumptuous without U-P-T
It’s better for Obama to have the race polling as “close” now. No one’s payin attention. If Obama had a double digit lead- and then lost a bit of it after Labor Day- there would be a rousing cheer from the goopers that he “peaked too early” and was “choking”.
Small lead is ideal for now in my opinion.
The straight talk express would get stuck on high center with everyone who has been thrown under it
that is how it is working for me….. reply works but show text does…
It’s for real;
http://www.peterbilt.com/index.aspx
How can you watch her? When she smiles her eyes don’t. Sorta reminds me of how a great white shark looks just before it bites.
A little on the Parenting Challenged end right now. My 20 year old son moved back in with me. He had moved in with his dad when he was 14. I saw him but we didn’t live together for six years. Now, that’s a whole new can of live noodles to be dealing with. It’s a new dynamic for everyone here. And, that includes the dog.
Read something that said Obama is probably much farther ahead because they can’t poll cellphones. Thought that was interesting.
Only in style. It’s dark blue with white letters “Catch Me If You Can.”
I loves me some freeway blogger…and sometimes I see the signs.
Most pollsters are compensating for the lack of cellphone polling by upping their allotment of the demographic groups most likely to be cellphone only. Apparently this helps but doesn’t totally fix the problem. The stuff I’ve read, though, says that the whole issue is worth no more than a point or so anyway.
I confess to being a bit of a Katie fan. She hangs tough, I think, and has been through alot. She was very fresh when she started on Today. Not just a sympathy vote. I thought she was treated very harshly about the Edwards’ interview.
She has done some fine interviews, Perot, Woodward, Michael Fox. Not to say she’s perfect. Who is? But she has certainly helped women stay the course in a ridiculous environment.
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com…..cellphones
Link to good discussion of “cellphone only” voters (scroll down)
I think show/hide text is working for IE but not for Safari or Firefox.
The New Comments/Refresh link I think has been disabled while the troubles in launching Oxdown continue. Just means we have to add a new comment or do a hard refresh, just like in the old days.
I’ve also noticed that if I attempt to Reply to a comment before the page has finished loading, it doesn’t take. So I try to be patient and let the page load and THEN search out the comment I wanted to Reply to.
nope other than they love them some Maverick – can you imagine what they’d be blathering if Obama was only up by 3 in Illinois ?!?!? ke-rist !
did someone mention cell phones ?!?!? *g*
Arizona may not turn blue this election- but it’s on it’s way- so is Texas- but it may take 10 more years to get there.
Nothing like finding out about a little corporate censorship in the morning is there? Remember that the network “news” stories are aimed at those of us(sheeple) who are the 50% of uninformed voters who never hear or listen to any corrections, so the first impression is the lasting one. If they “read” the newspapers, they do so by skimming the headlines, so the “truth” may be deep within the storyline, but the only “truth” that will stick is in the headline. Which is how rove, billo, hammidy and rush can continue to not only get away with their blatant lies, but to have their faithful(sheeple) listeners not only believe, but repeat the lies. Case in Point; An E-mail letter”supposedly” from a soldier in Afghanstan writes that Obama blew off the troops. Instant acceptence by the bleating crowd, after all, it was on the internet, so it must be true. Word comes down from DoD, letter is a total fake, not true in any respect. But in the comments on sites like military.com, the letter goes viral. “Why, I read it, but didn’t believe it, but if you say it was from a friend of yours, then it must be true” or this”The letter looks like it might have come from Iraq(Afghanistan, you idiot) so it must be true.” Doesn’t matter that the signature block on the E-mail revealed just how little the letter writer really knows about the military, but that is glossed over or ignored, after all, the letter has accomplished its purpose no matter how much it gets debunked in the future. That purpose? Reinforce the opinion of the commenters that all liberals/dems are traitors; why just look at what Obama did, he blew off the troops, so he must hate the military. Extremism reinforces extremism and the sheeple continue to spew out that first impression as if it were the truth. It will not be an outside enemy that destroys the US, we are already doing a great job of doing it to ourselves. Ignorance breeds extremism. Right wing talk radio will, in the end, be one of the biggest reasons why we will become a 3rd world oligarchy. Current drop out rates(the real numbers, not the ones announced by the schools, they are lies)are not what the govt would tell you, 2-12% depending on the school. No, if you do some real digging, the real dropout rate will come to light. Low end-30%, high end(one school in Austin was closed due to the NCLB law) their announced dropout rate was 17%. The true rate. 79%. Why are we allowing such a huge number of HS students to fail. BTW, the bilingual program in Texas has proved itself to be a total failure, yet neither the state, the schools, nor the teachers will admit it. To much invested I guess. Meanwhile, the Ca. total immersion english-predicted by the bilingual education crowd to be a total failure- program has just passed its 10th year. And guess what? the students in total immersion english are fairing much better than their Texas cousins. Surprise.
heeey where’d everybody go ? is there a sale on arugula at Whole Foods or somethin’ ??
oh, there’s rw – glad you’re here – entre nous, just now getting read American Theocracy – be vewy afwaid! can’t imagine having the stomach to read his latest – carrumba !
The latest is scary but not as well done as the previous books in my opinion..”Wealth and Democracy” is still the best of the bunch in my opinion.
OK…here’s the female GOP possible Obama VP being “floated”…Arghhhhhhh:
http://news.aol.com/elections/…..1200314789
earlier this am saw some of the letters written by diplomats and NGO’s to Secretary General Annan about her . . .not good. plus she’s all over genetically engineered crops – yech !
dear god, he’d better be just frontin’ to independents here.
Hmmm… that’s a very long list. Isn’t it?
Any rumblings you’ve heard about the short list? What’s your opinion?
Is it significant that Hagel traveled with him?
I predict that it will be HRC, and it will be announced at the Convention. Less time for the GOP to know who (whom?…I never get it right) to attack.
Also, did you read my comment and link at #13?
Saw that- they’ve gotta be jokin, right?
Gotcha. Well, in the same way that at the beginning of the P’s, we said we had a deep bench. Our current disappointments notwithstanding, I still think we have a great bench for support roles. :/
Obama may go for Bayh with the idea of stealin Indiana- which is strangely close right now. Illinois teevee must spill over.
- still think it will be Sibelius
actually kinda like her and what she’d bring to the ticket – but a little too much centrist/DLC goodness for me
HRC would give goopers too much ammo and he appears to have built his entire campaign around don’t give ‘em any ammo
I think the main reason I think it will be HRC, is that the work for her support has already been done in the primaries. If they choose someone else, they’ll have to work 100 times harder to garner up enthusiasm and support in a very short period of time. HRC already has close to 50% in the bag.
Good points.
I am **so sure** Obama will pick a former Bush Cabinet member as his running mate.
This one is particularly ludicrous, and probably intended to mock the McCain campaign’s attempt to steal Obama’s trip thunder with the Novak leak and later publicity: will McCain announce his Veep this week?
I have Mozilla FireFox and feature such as show text stopped working
Sibelius is a progressive. And she converts GOPs to Dem wholesale — in Kansas.
Well, if you want to do it the Easy Way.
LOL….when I saw her picture I nearly fell off my chair….
Hi SanderO — did you see the ad from Alan Grayson featured yesterday? He used your idea of the nine billion dollars lost in Iraq in his ad! Showed an airport hangar — just go watch it. It’s great.
He will pick someone to support his weakness as perceived by conventional wisdom. Bad
He should pick a visionary progressive who gets stuff done.
Oh, now I don’t feel so bad. I did too. :(
Teddy … lemme step aside an look.
Some candidates pick a running mate more toward the center than they are perceived (Reagan) others pick someone closer to the party’s base (Bush)..
The Cheney pick certainly gave anyone who was thinkin of gettin rid of Bush for ideological reasons a second thought.
If Obama thinks he’s got a big advantage, he may take someone to the left of him- if he thinks he’s in for a big battle- he may pick a centerist.
Evan Bayh can kiss my narrow blue butt – god would that be horrible
I just love Grayson.
I think we can tap the MIC for lots of our needs and if they are lucky they might get some infratructure contracts.
We really need to get this MIC off out backs. It’s sucking all the resources of this nation and producing only jobs here. We can produce jobs which ADD to the economy and don’t just blow up in the dessert or sit in bomb bays.
Grayson is da bomb as they say in da bronx
Yeah, he has a creeple factor…besides, I don’t like political “families”…
We really need to get all the wealth which the MIC and the rich have sucked out of the economy.
We need to tax things like luxury yachts 200% and make the rich pay for their waste at least.
And then tax wealth not income.
like I said, I like her and picked her last summer btw
she’d appeal to us hippies and play well in Peoria
Jeff Merkley of Oregon is back for Blue Am! Love this guy — be sure and catch the video at the bottom of the post.
Before Obama’s trip began, the TV media where seriously concerned, i.e. hopeful, that Obama would make serious mistakes in his various stops. Now that the trip is over, and no one can point to any gaffe, the theme has morphed to whether Obama was too overconfident, presumptuous, uppity, or whatever pejorative suits the “we’re not in the tank for Obama” narrative.
On the other foot, the stupidest media moment had to be when David Gergen and others on CNN had the breaking news about the Obama campaign releasing the minutes of Obama’s meeting with al-Maliki. “The first major gaffe of the trip” intoned Gergen. In fact, the release of the minutes was completely routine and no other media person mentioned it ever again.
In grasping for straws, the right wing is complaining now that there was no American flag present when Obama and Sarkozy gave their joint press conference, only the French and EU flags. In fact the Obama campaign said that it would be a violation of protocol to have had an American flag. The American flag would indicate that Obama had equal stature to president Sarkozy, who is also the next EU president.
Finally, I hope CSPAN repeats again that press conference. Obama gave a bravura, thoughtful performance. He even used the word “meritocracy” fluidly in a response. Truly, he is an elitist for using such a high-falutin’ word.
There’s a Blue America new post up, up and away….
Excuse my late to the game ignorance on Kathleen Sebelius. I was just reading about her, and also listening to the youtube of her endorsing Obama. She seems like a really great, and I mean great choice for his running mate.
Any comments or suggestions where to learn more about Sebelius?
whatevuh! McCain didn’t wear his flag pin in the Velveeta shot either
and what a welcomed relief not to hear Obama say nukular at Tiergarten
brb – there’s an fdl link on her somewhere
In fact, Obama and Sarkozy were wearing the respective lapel flag pins, made in China most likely. It was the missing large American flag that has ticked off some right-wing commentators.
That was one impressive “leak” by the Obama camp. Remember McCain has been trying to get attention by leaking he was going to announce his VP candidate soon. Obama’s guys/gals pulled the rug out from under him, by leaking a Republican woman. Doubt it is real, but it changed the ongoing discussion. Very smooth! It has the added advantage of p*ssing off McCain, which I suspect is one of main goals of the Obama campaign. The sooner Americans see the real McCain, the better. Not that we haven’t already been seeing the reality TV version of Grumpy Old Men for the last week or so.
Hey, all. Please join us upstairs for the Saturday morning visit with a TRUE progressive candidate – Jeff Merkley.
the FDL link I was searching for linked to this
Huffpo piece
In a completely unnecessary comment…the Repubs will criticize, tear down, misrepresent every iota of everything Ob. does. Little of substance and some irrelevant diatribe. where’s the debate? the Beef? The comments on news programs last night included the observations that McC’s campaign has been scatter shot and no theme. So dull.
People need to check out the jackass stupidity at
http://mccainnow.com/index.php
I came across the Web site by accident looking up someone’s name, and it’s just awful. It exists, I guess, for dumb postings about how Democrats are afraid, incredibly afraid, of Mike Huckabee, etc., etc., etc.
But let’s not forget the incredibly awful graphic of McCain himself. They try to flatter him, but he still looks old and sickly and just weird. Then they surround him with an otherworldly glow. (Is he…Jesus??). And then they give him a backdrop of about a dozen shadowy outlined figures. I guess they’re supposed to be McCain supporters rapturously listening to his wisdom at a speech, but they look like evil monsters (zombies? aliens?) in a 1960s horror film–”Children of the Damned,” maybe.
Add to that the lame, dumb tagline ”keep your faith, keep that courage” (thank you, e.e. cummings-mccain), and you have a many-carat gem of stupidity on so many levels.
Thank you.
So good: And thank you, m’ friends. Gag.
Bob Dole looks like the picture of vitality, dynamism, charisma, and an engaging, interesting person compared to John McCain.
I almost feel sorry for John.
Almost.
