The polls this early in the game are just being used by the ROM (republican owned media) to panic everyone. I don’t believe these polls because I’ve not heard one person say they’re voting for McTeleprompter. Only the neocons online have said they are and they’re the crazy-eyed wackos that 80% of the country despises right now.

I’m not worried. The only way A REPUBLICAN CAN WIN AT THIS POINT IS TO STEAL THE ELECTION USING THE VOTING MACHINES. That’s it.

But even “blow out” elections, as the previous commenter wrote, don’t result in such a low popular vote.

I tend to agree, but it really depends on turnout and weighting by states. Take Illinois, for example. Obama is going to get a huge majority thee — probably well over 60 percent of the vote, if not 65 percent. Ditto California The thugs are discouraged and won’t turn out, while the Dems are really juiced up. That would work against Obama having a true national lead. On the other hand, his growing strength in the Hispanic Community has to help him in the Southwest and even in Texas. He should do well in Ohio, where we have a Democratic Secretary of State for once to ensure a fair vote. That works for Obama.

All said, I still think it’s going to be a blow-out for Obama. It is just very hard for me to see where the McCain votes pas 32-33 percent are coming from. A lot of traditional middle to upper class Republicans I know are voting for Obama. The rednecks will vote rethug, because they have voted that way for a generation and can’t stand the thought of a Black Man becoming President. Still, that just gets him TN, AK, KY and possibly NC, though a huge black turnout in the latter can pull the state in. As to VA, hard to see McCain winning it.

The economy will drive this election in the end. And it is sinking as we speak.

pollster.com looks at the electoral college math - fairly encouraging at this point in time.

Rep 147
Toss-up 107
Dem 284

(270 needed to win). of course, the “mandate” talk is driven by the national margin of victory.

Presser again reiterates that blowjobs in a Democrat are impeachable but war crimes with a Republican are not. Presser’s legal position can be condensed down to the fundamental principle: IOKIYAR.

I think Goldwater ‘64 is considered the definitive landslide and he got something like 38% of the vote (I was reading htis somewhere within the last couple of days)

In more recent times, Carter, Mondale and Dukakis are considered R landslides for Reagan and Bush I, yet each of these got 41/42% of the vote at least.

Not real sure what my point is, but a smack down where the loser gets 40% of the vote is still a smackdown.

Adding, I think Obama will win by a greater margin than Bush did in ‘04 both in the electoral college and popular vote.
