We don't need truth and reconciliation, we need punishment. We need people to be held accountable.... We'll put people in prison.
Beautiful. When I was in college, a guy ran for student disciplinary council on a platform of "Nail cheaters to the wall." I think everyone voted for him.
Except the cheaters.

hi eli
Eli!
Hi greenwarrior! Hi jayt!
Yesss !
More Dems like this.
i’ve told them downstairs that you’re here.
I think everyone voted for him.
Except the cheaters.
Who, after college, went on to found Diebold, Inc. (?)
More asskicking, less triangulating.
good eve Eli
Alan Grayson (Blue America, FL-08) is exactly the kind of Democrat that we need. Not a timid, cautious, capitulating, impeachment-off-the-table Democrat like the party leadership, but a don’t-give-an-inch, take-no-prisoners, put-the-criminals-in-jail Democrat. Check out his great interview with Matt Stoller:
well that is refreshing!
more asskicking,less assLicking!
Lock the bastards up and throw away the key.
Hiya, sadly.
What was it Alice said? My, everyone comes and goes so quickly here? Or, was that Dorothy?
Lots of threads tonight. Semi lurking while I’m doing dinner and watching the replay of this mornings HJC hearings on Executive Power.
Anyone who missed it, it’s being replayed on CSpan.
Love Grayson. Passionate, funny, fast on his feet.
And if elected, he’ll go into Congress lookin’ for some Repubs, with bad intentions*.
* (I think that’s a boxing term - or football - umm, some violent sport)
i’m getting whiplash from the frequency of new posts….
Hopefully he and Darcy both get in - maybe they can shame Pelosi into actually leading.
Aloha, Eli and Ya’ll!
I loved this spot.. sent a little support Alan’s way, via Blue America, earlier today.
Best rest that neck. It’s important. :)
Oops, meant to say, maybe they can team up with Donna Edwards to shame Pelosi…
Aloha, Ctut!
That ‘Impeachment Lite’ crap doesn’t cut the mustard one iota… Frogmarch the whole bunch of ‘em to the Hague at least… Presidential Preemptive Pardons won’t work there…! ;-)
I live in the next district. Wish he was running in mine (FL-24). The R there, Ric Keller is a laughingstock. Here’s the skinny from rthe local “alternative” newspaper. http://www.orlandoweekly.com/u.....p?id=10946
(P.S. Yes, he shaved the goatee.) But this guy has a dynamite resume.
BTW, Blue America isnt going to endorse Clint Curtis in my district are they?
You’re clearly waaaaay more generous than I am.
I’m pissed.
Grayson is one of few Dems I could vote for and he is no where near my CD.
I’ve unsubscribed to all the pos internet groups that have been pimp’n obama after the fisa cavein. Funy how they all came running “Oh obama smears” after the vote.
I completely disavow myself of the Demoracts and will only vote Dem if there is a BA in the CD.
The DNC, DSCC, DCCC and the rest and kiss my blue ass.
Grayson is fearless! We had a super Blue Am session with him. Would love to find another 100 folks just like this for Congress.
maybe they can team up with Donna Edwards to shame Pelosi…
From his visits here, I got the impression that I wouldn’t wanna see that guy pissed at *me*….
He’d be great on the HJC.
Okay, CT. It doesn’t cut it. But, who who who is going to lead this frog march?
Am I being to realty based for a Friday night?
I am enjoying listening to the witnesses. It’s all on record. At the very least.
I can’t keep up. Would love to comment but usually I’m reading three posts behind and everyone has moved on. Can’t we slow this down just a LITTLE?
Is he running against an incumbent? Who?
That ‘Impeachment Lite’ crap doesn’t cut the mustard one iota…
But, but… Mr. Conyers said that today’s hearing was the most important EVAH!!…
There is no way I will ever give money to the DSCC or DCCC; not until they’re chaired by progressives. As long as the party leadership is stocked with useless weasels like Pelosi, Steny, Rahm, Reid, and Schumer, that’s probably not going to happen.
On the other hand, the useless leadership is probably just a symptom of the underlying disease of not enough progressives.
Agreed!
either that or i need to start drinking coffee through out the day *g*
That interview with Stoller is totally awesome. He is badass with a capital BAD.
Grayson’s first fdl visit
Grayson’s second fdl visit in which he was a rock star.
Somehow we need to coax them on Carribean cruises or tours of the Louvre or Eiffel tower…! ;-)
The DNC has had me feeling a bit tbagged lately, not to put too fine a point on it. How’s this for making it clear?
Note that Jeralyn has a very appropriate (and good-looking, I must say) reply at the same post. I’ll certainly get one of hers by Convention time.
Hey, let them pump out license plates. WE should go on the cruise and check out the arts.
I’m not busy this weekend.
Thanks. Now I remember him.
The frustrating thing about candidates like Grayson is that they make you realize just how useless the party leadership is, and how good Democrats *can* be, but usually aren’t.
But hey, it’s better than having Democratic candidates who make the leadership look *good* by comparison.
Conyers for what ever reason has been a huge disappointment. Certainly not of the caliber of Sam Ervin. Conyers tolerated the distractions and diversions by the Republicans because they are his “esteemed” colleagues. Well, his Republican “friends” are enemies of the people and the nation.
This is the ad that SanderO keeps asking Blue America candidates to make! I can’t believe Grayson made this ad — well, I can, he’s the perfect candidate to make this ad, but WOW. This guy has to get to Congress. He has to.
Jeeeezus.. That’s as blatant as it could possibly get without being a hand symbolizing a big FU.
Clint Curtis is not currently on our Blue Am list, and I havent heard of plans for him, but best to catch Howie tomorrow and ask him.
His basic narrative is, “Republicans are corrupt, and I will take them down.”
What’s not to like?
I’m sure AT&T had to lavish them with the Totebags after they handed them immunity all wrapped up with a big bow atop…! 8-(
Can I go OT? I think this merits. Don’t know if how much this has gotten linked to around here. If it has been, I apologize. If you haven’t read it,I think it’s be worthwhile when you get a little free time. It’s an article co-authored by Colonel McFarland that tells all about the Anbar Awakening and why it worked.
http://usacac.army.mil/CAC/mil.....rApr08.pdf
It was published in the March/April edition of Military Review. The article says nothing about the Surge. You can skip to the end if you really want and there’s a summary “Why We Succeeded.” Nothing about the Surge or increased troop numbers. Interesting quote:
Overall, by February 2007, contacts with insurgents
dropped almost 70 percent compared to the numbers in June 2006, and they had dramatically decreased in complexity and effect
The Surge hadn’t happened yet in February 2007.
Next time someone tells you the Awakening couldn’t have succeeded without the Surge, send them this article and tell them to stick it so far up their ass they’ll be shitting it for a year.
But this pisses me off to no end. McCain is the one with the foreign policy cred, we’re told. But all he’s doing is yapping “Surge, surge, surge.” Obama, the foreign policy ignoramus, has taken the time to learn the facts. Why doesn’t the media do the same? Anybody in the media? If I can find this shit on the internets, why can’t/won’t they? The very guy whose name McCain is dropping totally blows him out of the water. In black and white.
I understand that there is a lot of disappointment with very many of our leaders.
Man, I loved to watch Sam Ervin.
John Conyers is who he is and we don’t know any of the back room stuff. I like John.
“We will put people in prison” is music to my ears.
Can you imagine how marginalized this guy will be when he gets to Congress, though? The leadership will be terrified of him. A few more like him, Donna, Darcy, and the rest of our great Blue America crew, and we will have the caucus we need.
This guy is so awesome it hurts.
I can has Grayson and you can has Boozman?
Pweez?
I’m looking at that round symbol and thinking red lipstick for the circle and slash. Need to find the right shade.
Attention firedogs… two for the price of one tonight.. one little DIGG will help Eli and Grayson…)
Yep, that’s a great story. McCain also talked about how part of the surge’s benefit was that it protected the participants in the Anbar Awakening, yet one of the key sheiks was assassinated *during* the surge. Brilliant.
Ric Keller. Sponsor of the “Cheeseburger Bill” to give McDonalds and Bugger King immunity from being sued by morbidly obese people.
Btw, I’m watching the rerun of the sham show on C-Span, I was just about to ask if Bruce had testified yet, but, he’s now on…! ;-)
Heh, a nice glossy Candy Apple red…? ;-)
I love Bruce too. He’s an alpha dog with the truth. Woof!
(and, that’s no sham.)
Another key one was assassinated just yesterday…! How’s that for irony…
As I said, “for what ever reason”. The point being that Conyers, aside from his rhetoric, never rose to the occasion that history demanded.
I don’t know what it is but I can’t get anything out of that link on the cspan front page on that.
News flash: If helping the Americans gets you killed… no-one will want to help the Americans.
BTW, that article I linked to was from 2006 when Grayson ran. Same opponent, Charlie Stuart.
:(
FWIW, the H2Ogate analog to Conyers is not Sam Ervin (Senator from NC) but Peter Rodino, (D-NJ) who was the chair of the HJC when the Nixon Impeachment hearings were held.
If anyone, the analog to Ervin would pretty much have to be someone from the Senate Judiciary such as Whitehouse or more likely Kennedy.
btw, if you wanna know about him, go to Orlando Weekly website and just search “Ric Keller”. He’s ridiculed on a regular basis.
Bull Dogs. Grrrrrr…. I love them too.
Just how many of us grew up, politically, on the Watergate stuff?
I did.
Lottsa bad guys. And, some heros. Including, John Dean.
Heh, D’uh…! Btw, here’s the link…
Brilliant.
I’d love to see Obama run an ad showing some utterly typical McBrain gaffe (doesn’t matter which - hell, just pick one)(or maybe they could make it an ongoing thing, continually substituting the gaffe-of-the-day), ending with the Guinness guys - “Brilliant!!.
“I’m Barack Obama, and I approve this message.”
Yeah, Teh Surge is going just great. What a fantastic strategeric idea that was.
Heh. There’s a new gaffe every day… if not every hour.
CT - Did you just see Lamar Smith? Teacher, teacher, You said no talking, and They are talking….what a P***y.
Interesting timing on that. eh?
Oops. I just called someone a name. sorry.
Well, I grew up in a family where a lot of politics were talked at home because my dad was a state employee and couldn’t really talk about it in public due to the state merit system (Ky version of civil service).
And I was a McGovern delegate at the county caucus in my hometown in ‘72 so the shenanigans of the Trickster, I tended to take a bit personally. Spent a lot of time in front of the TV watching the Senate H2Ogate hearings and then the HJC Impeachment hearings the next summer.
Folks tend to forget that all those hearings were spread out over two years.
Hugh needs to start a new list - just gaffes.
Who the fuck is Rabkin…? What a sorry sh*thole… ‘Numerous wild conspiracists seem to abound here…’ WTF???
Jeez, I would think just keeping up with the Bushies would be a full-time job…
Oops. I just called someone a name. sorry.
S’okay. The Truth is an absolute defense.
Personally, I’ve always preferred “the execrable Lamar Smith” when referring to him. Thank God, they re-redistricted and he’s no longer my rep and I have back Doggett.
Because everybody applauded and cheered Fein’s testimony…! I wonder if Lamar is gonna shut it down exactly at the two hour mark…!
McGovern? Dude. I went door to door and hand addressed (Gawd…I’m feeling oldish) envelopes for his campaign.
Got to know my neighbors.
Did you just see Lamar Smith?
Well, he got Cindy Sheehan tossed out.
Partay!!
For anyone making a list of “buttons” at the Lake, add Lamar Smith.
He’s a Party Pooper.
IIRC, Ervin was the chairman, so that would make Leahy his counterpart today.
It wouldn’t be Leahy, since the Impeachment proceedings never made it to the Senate in Nixon’s case…!
Back in the day when men knew when to call it quits.
He’s a Party Pooper.
Don’t forget Steve King (Dick - IA) who made himself the Designated Time-Keeper, continually pestering Conyers - “Mr. chairman, the time of the witness has expired..”
Smith wanted the public thrown out - King wanted the witnesses to shut up. Bi-partisanship, Republic-style.
Dicks.
I distinctly recall watching Ervin grilling some of the Nixon crew on TV, so hearings were held, in the Senate, on Watergate.
From Wiki:
United States Senate Watergate Committee
Not to argue, but, you know, according to that movie Team America that there are only three kinds of people. :)
True, but not on Impeachment… From wiki…
Yes, it was called the Watergate Hearings - not impeachment hearings.
Ervin was the chair of the H2Ogate select committee which was a subset of the Senate Judiciary. Not sure he was the chair of the entire SJC at the time which is why I think Kennedy may be more of an analog to him than Leahy.
The House drafts the articles of impeachment and the Senate acts as the Jurors with the Chief Justice presiding…!
Granted it wasn’t an impeachment trial, since it never got that far. The message I was responding to was #64:
So the Watergate analog, or counterpart, for Ervin would be Leahy now, since no select committee has been formed.
according to that movie Team America that there are only three kinds of people. :)
ok, I did my due-diligence Wiki-research.
I give up - what are the three types of people? Please?
…Or doesn’t.
Lies, damn lies, and statistics.
No, wait…
P***ies, D**ks and a**holes. There a whole speech.
Now you know. Actually from that list, d**ks are the lease offensive, imo.
Sheehan did last longer than I thought…! :-)
Conyers just booted her… By name…! LOL!!!
P***ies, D**ks and a**holes. There a whole speech.
Now you know. Actually from that list, d**ks are the lease offensive, imo.
ok, if you give me enough time, surely I can come up with at least *one* “clean” joke.
ummm, ya might wanna check back about this time tomorrow.

I will do that. Sorry. Thanks.
Now THAT’S some snarky ironing!!!
What a hoot . . . Conyers, laying down for two years now on his promises to deliver justice.
And Code Pink, booted . . . from the EXACT hearings to address how Conyers laid down.
And the GOP rep’s calling on Conyers, to ENFORCE the ouster of ‘abrasive voices’ in the gallery . .
I watched the youtuvbe of Bugliosi . . . when the mofo INSISTED Conyers boot the gallery after applause for Bug’s comments about GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY!!! (god I miss the old Doonesbury).
My thoughts are that it’s all kabuki, deals are behind the scenes, no one will be held accountable, and Obama WILL be elected, to a new height of Clintonism we’ve never scene, but projected . . .
And the masses don’t get squat.
Coming to a nation yer in, soon . . . more of the same 1%.
Harumph.
