Some of you may have caught Cliff Schecter’s announcement Monday that he was stepping back from his work at the Campaign Silo — as he explained, he’s simply been overwhelmed by the demands of book promotion and his real-life responsibilities, and so it’s a move we fully appreciate and support.

What that will mean for the Silo is that we’re placing its direction in new hands. John Gorenfeld — who many of you already know as the author of Bad Moon Rising: How Reverend Moon Created the Washington Times, Seduced the Religious Right and Built an American Kingdom — will be, as Cliff explained, taking over the day-to-day operation of the site. Cliff will still be chiming in, and as we go along, I expect we’ll be adding even more team members to make the site even more diverse and informative.

I hope you’ll enjoy the changes John brings to the Silo. He’s going to make it a lot newsier, and address the broader dynamics involved in this historic campaign season. Besides his work as an author, John also has a deep background as a reporter. Considering the special role that race, religion, and the hard right will play in this campaign, I think you’ll find that John will be bringing us important reportage you won’t find anywhere else.

So go check out the revamped Campaign Silo. I think you’ll soon be placing it on your list of daily must-reads.
