In fact, you don’t see it reported hardly at all:
Among the most high-profile Jews in Congress, Lieberman is viewed far more unfavorably than the presumptive Democratic nominee, according to a new poll. Only 37 percent of Jews view the Connecticut Independent in a favorable light compared to 48 percent who have a negative perception. As for Obama, 60 percent of Jews view him favorably while 34 percent view him unfavorably.

I view lieberman with contempt that knows no bounds
Maybe because he’s an asshole first, Jewish second.
That is interesting in a good way…
Morning Attaturk :)
Interesting….the Joe Lieberman isn’t Jewish enough for the Jews taste? Bah hahahahahahahahaha! Well, he is a right wing neocon know and for the Jews who are sick and tired of illegal wars/bombings/killings, I’m sure they do see Barack Obama as a breath of fresh air.
I wished the people of Connecticut had pushed Joe out of the country rather than just kick him out of the Democratic Party.
Good morning, Attaturk. That’s a great catch.
Sorry to go OT so early, but Glenzilla is on Democracy Now right now. He will discuss AT&T’s funding of the Democratic Convention first and then he will tear Cass Sunstein a new one (or two) over holding the Bush Administration accountable for their crimes. A little early for popcorn, so I’m just watching with my coffee.
For some reason, I doubt Joe has many friends on either side of the aisle. Perhaps it is sparkling personality or might it be his undying commitment to his friends and allies?
OT, but anybody notice the pic of Karadzic as he looked before they picked him up? No wonder they couldn’t find him. He could’ve walked into the cop locker and nobody would have recognized him.
Talk about a dude that thinks his ass is at the center of the universe. His sense of loyalty doesn’t appear to extend beyond the reach of his arms.
Here’s another pic.
So just what constituency does Lieberman have left? We know he won’t be McCain’s running mate, so what does he have after November?
Traitor Joe is even losing his family members now.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..03293.html
Looks like his decades of selling out the Constitution and America is finally coming back to bite him in the Hadassah.
I’m surprised he’s that popular among his fellow Jews. I should think he’d be an embarrassment to them
He’s senator until 2010, then lobbiest. Not a bad life for a bad dude.
He’s hoping and praying that the dems get 59 seats in the Senate so that he can continue to hold them hostage.
A big lump of poo in both his left *and* right hand?
I was at the Lake during the last elections…..what perris said @1.
I think the Abominable Snowman is gonna want a word with you about that comparison. *g*
i don’t even think he’s hold them hostage anymore. i don’t think many of the dems care.
Just stumbled upon this blog for the first time. They have a very accurate description on His Traitorness:
http://kalimao.blogspot.com/20…..-boil.html
Can’t argue with that!
listening now too. glenn and amy make for a great interview
Cass starts off lying. Glenn will destroy him.
He said the FISA Amendment Act wasn’t primarily to give immunity.
The hard-line Zionists will continue to support him and a lot of the older Jewish folks will simply because they don’t deal with change very well. As his step-son said, the younger Jews don’t carry all the baggage the older Jews do (my paraphrase).
man that is one great quote, I hope someone sends it to him
there is one issue I have with it though, lieberman is not doing these things “for israel”, that’s his cover, he is doing it for the noe cons, the fascists who have promised him a seat to their power
Nice catch.
Thanks.
wow….
Sunstein is a shit. I ripped him (and all the other speakers on his panel) in the first Q, and the other 3 or 4 Qs that followed me did likewise.
I think you’ll find that most of the neocons are, in fact, Jewish and their primary concern is Israel. Kristol, Perle, et al. It’s ultimately all about Israel. Always has been. Their writings are full of references to the safety and security of Israel.
that was you who asked the first question? it (and you) were awesome!
Yep, and proud of it!
I happen to be jewish and I find their “jewishness” has nothing to do with israel, they are using israel as the tool to promote their maniacal plans for stealing the treasure of nations
they are nothing but tools, using israel as much as american for their own personal profit
do tell ecahn, I would love to here the beuty of selise’s pros
Like everything else, YMMV.
Greenwald: “We have incentivized lawlessness” through attitudes like Sunstein’s.
oops, I meant your excellant pros, I couldn’t follow the thread of this conversation, please tell us what went on!
i listened to the whole thing yesterday, because of this from glenn greenwald:
my bold.
damn. that was good.
Gonna havta remember the “(I-Me)” reference. Although now I’m gonna have the Beatles song, “I, Me, Mine” in me head all day, which isn’t a bad thing I suppose.
I’m listening to democracynow, so can’t reconstruct exchange at this moment.
ymmv?
do tell please
will come back later to read it, thanx ecahn, am looking forward to hearing how the exchange went
Do you have a link to the replay?
ustream video
She rocked! And she stood her ground very well. The panelists started looking a lot less comfortable after her question.
Krusty cuts another supporter loose:
“Tell you what, we coulda had a good life together! Fuckin’ real good life! Had us a place of our own. But you didn’t want it, Ennis! So what we got now is Brokeback Mountain! Everything’s built on that! That’s all we got, boy, fuckin’ all. So I hope you know that, even if you don’t never know the rest! You count the damn few times we have been together in nearly twenty years and you measure the short fucking leash you keep me on – and then you ask me about Mexico and tell me you’ll kill me for needing somethin’ I don’t hardly never get. You have no idea how bad it gets! I’m not you… I can’t make it on a coupla high-altitude fucks once or twice a year! You are too much for me
EnnisJoe, you sonofawhoreson bitch! I wish I knew how to quit you.”Having read their material from the 80’s to the present, and not putting much emphasis on those pieces appearing in op-ed sections, my opinion of them is as I stated. Your opinion may differ.
the weenies of netroots nation make me completely uninterested in going. but you and ecahn make me want to have been there – for your comments and actions. inspiring!
OT
Bmaz has an excellent post at Marcy’s place about significant rulings in the Show Trials. It sounds like they may not go as planned. In fact it looks like a compliant Congress or a new judge are the alternatives.
In response to perris at 38.
See selise’s link at 41, I believe about 38 minutes into the replay.
Tbhe mods Q before mine had to do with impeachment and all 3 panelists said oh no no no, we couldn’t do that. I said that I disagreed with their As entirely and that the worst thing that ever happened to the constitution wrt the executive branch was the pardon of Richard Nixon, whch said to all future prez that their is no punishment for bad behavior. Then went on to point out how easily W built on that, etc. You get the point. Result was that John Dean went into paroxisms of explanation of why Nixon’s pardon was so good for the country. Next 3-4 Qs also pinned panel down further.
Good Morning Attaturk and Firedogs,

One important reason for showing up is to hold weenies’ feet to the fire. You should have seen how Jeremy Scahill ripped into an Obama supporter who suggested that we ought to stop criticizing him in the interest of electing him. Scahill’s point being that after he’s elected he will flip us the bird and the only leverage we have is now. Only, if you’ve ever heard Scahill, you know he was much more eloquent & forceful than I just was.
Oy. Did I her that Sunstein & Powers just married? Ftting couple. I also tried to hold her feet to the fire wih a Q about the withdrawal from Iraq. (Something like: What will withdrawal look like, and if your A is that it will be messy, isn’t that a reason for either (a) an excuse not to withdraw, or (b) a one-term presidency.) She ran off at the mouth about how you had to negotiate, never addressed the reality of how that would probably be insuffiencient to prevent the mess, and certainly didn’t touch my point about one-term Obama prez. She’s almost as removed from reality as W et al.
Having so much fun this morning, but have lots of errands, so ta ta for now.
i’m a big fan of scahill’s (although i’ve never heard him live, just on dn! and such). iirc scahill won a polk award with amy goodman in the ’90s for investigative reporting.
can’t wait to hear more about your time at nrn.
p.s. i have despised powers for sometime and have no clue why whe is seemingly adored by so many progressives.
I do hope that the next Congress changes the laws requiring retiring Congressmen to wait a 7 years before they can become lobbyists. Lieberman would be forced to move to Israel if he wanted to lobby.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
Lieberman sucks. He tries to make his conservative Jewishness sound like Christian Fundamentalism, as if Christians would like him more for that. Or Jews either, for that matter. He should keep his Religion out of politics, as should all the other faux-God-lovers in Congress. I think being a member of this Congress means you won’t be going through those pearly gates anyway.
As Glenn Greenwald has pointed out numerous times, Jewish Americans have views on Israel and the Middle East similar to other Americans. It is the Liebermans and the AIPACs that are unrepresentative.
So naturally NPR reported today that Obama has to be careful and supportive of Israel to court the “Jewish” (Lieberman-AIPAC) vote back home.
NPR has become nothing more than National Propaganda Radio. It is a far cry from it’s glory days during Watergate.
This thread needs some Seinfeld…
