Hagee is rather famous for his position on Israel which is that they must rebuild the Temple before Jesus can return- and obviously they can’t do that if there’s a big Moslem edifice sitting on the Temple Mount…

I woke up early yesterday and watched Benny Hinn’s faith-healing show for a lark. At the end of the show, they announced a September trip to the Holy Land, with an extensive video invite from the Israeli Minister of Tourism, exhorting the Christer nutcases to plunk down their bucks and join Benny and the gang as they retrace the footsteps of their putative deity.

Holy Joe’s just shamelessly stoking a reliable revenue stream allowing the purchase of cluster munitions, etc.

Let’s just make sure this gets PLENTY of publicity. Maybe throw in a couple of photos of McBush being friendly with both of them, along with some Hagee quotes and some quotes of Holy Joe and McBush praising him.

Reid agreed that if Lieberweasel voted for dem control of the senate, he could retain his chairs. That deal is up in January and may not be renewed. It was a sensible deal for both sides at the time as without Lieberweasel’s vote goopers would have held the senate…that vote may not be necessary after January…

We can all just start praying for the absolute elusiveness of red heifers.

As bad as the current situation is, the escalation of horror is truly unimaginable should the Dome of the Rock be destroyed for the rebuilding of the Temple. That mosque is Islam’s second holiest shrine and a place of very powerful divine energy. Personally, to me, it would feel like the destruction of our world was insured if the Dome of the Rock were to be destroyed.

I was just trying to get to something. That there are plenty of people who claim to be people of God who are not nice people at all and there are people who claim otherwise and there are also not nice people in that group too. The point I was trying to make is it is such a personal choice, comfortable or not, or empowering or not, that it shouldn’t matter what any other person thinks.

Many evangelicals believe that the arrival of a “perfect red heifer” will signal the end times. In the Old Testament, burning a red heifer and sprinkling its ashes is described as a purification ritual for priests entering the temple. Ultra-orthodox Jews believe that the birth of a modern perfect red heifer will herald the arrival of the messiah, leading to a confrontation with Muslims over the Temple Mount, where Jews believe the Temple will be rebuilt. Some evangelicals likewise regard the red heifer as a harbinger of the ultimate showdown at the Temple Mount, which they believe will be the site of the Second Coming. And they believe that time is near.

To many other observers, the advent of the red heifer threatens to provoke a violent struggle for control of the Temple Mount, with worldwide repercussions. Jane’s post prompted my memory of Boxer’s unforgivable decision to go to Connecticut to endorse and campaign for Lieberman’s reelection to the Senate against all reason and party loyalty to the legitimate senatorial campaign of Ned Lamont who earned his victory as the legitimate candidate victor in the Democratic senatorial primary. She not only ignored the outcry from we countless California constituents, she ignored her own staff counsel in her SF and LA offices to cancel her appearance with Lieberman on the ground in Connecticut.

I am not a Jew…13 years of Catholic schooling…too much of it with Jesuits. So, I do understand irony and satire etc., but your first sentence, “Didya know that Jesus was Bar Mitzvahd?” is neither. And therefore it distracts from your commentary whose general meaning I do understand…and agree with.

Jesus, himself, was not a Christian. He was, as were all his other followers, Jewish. Jesus was a Rabbi. So it seems to me matter of course that he was circumcised, Bar Mitzvahed and even crucified as a Jew. He considered himself a Jew, Mary his mother thought her son was a Jew, the Romans considered him Jewish, his followers and his enemies all knew him to be Jewish.

So, if your are quoting Hagee is to no purpose. Except perhaps to anti-Semites who choose not to acknowledge that Jesus, the “founder” of the Christian religion was a Jew. But that is not ironic.

Exactly…the Jews and Muslims who believe in Jesus do not believe in him as being “the Christ”. In fact, in Islam, it’s pretty much required that folks believe in Jesus as he is a prophet mentioned in the Quran and the hadith. Not so mandatory in Judaism, but many do accept the human existance of Jesus, the Rabbi.

Mark, if you read the comments higher up you’ll learn that the ritual of Bar Mitzvah was instituted well after the time of Christ. Most Jews know this, but apparently Hagee knows so little about the historical period Jesus lived within that he spouts such absurd assertions.
