Sweetie says thanks to all of you:>) She did a Musical Birthday party for a six year old with sixteen other kids… Hannah was the center of the show as she sang out above all the others… she also said the food there was great.. host & hostess kept her well fed and her wine glass filled:>) She says Good night to everyone zzzzz
I will be lurking a bit as I have Dr appointment tomorow
i was really really eager to share robben
Can you believe that my parents would not let me see this film! I’m feeelling a little old.
fingers and toes crossed for the best of all possible outcomes nahant
Hmmm… Must be time zone specific… AMC here in the Isles is the marathon of Mad Men…!
Night, nahant, and best to your wife.
Hi everyone….. how was your Sunday/weekend?
btw…. in French it is le weekend…
funy, the first film i remer seeing, beyond the shining, was the eye of Laure mars.
Seconded.
How is La France, katy?
Hi katymine! It was a great weekend…at Netroots. You’re home from your fabulous trip?
Lovin’ Spooful Summer in the city
blerg, here it is: Eyes of Laura Mars
For me, Lawrence of Arabia!
I like them, thanks Suz.;)
just a visit with my primary care Dr but it is early … well early for me…
my first car date was to the drive in. i had a curfew of 11pm and had previously been told that i was absolutely forbidden to see rosemary’s baby. so of course, that is what we went to go see.
show started around 9:15ish (summer) and it was intermission and almost 11. i used my emergency dime to call home- praying that my mom would answer the phone.
no such luck – it was dad.
me: uh, hi dad, everything’s ok. we are at the show and the first film has finished and the second is getting ready to start and i want to stay and watch the second show.
dad: ok, baby, what’s the movie?
me: (big big gulp and pause) i said the name of the first movie and rosemary’s baby
dad: ok, baby, be home at a reasonable hour.
from that point on, my curfew was removed and reasonable hour became my be home time – usually within 15 minutes of the second film ending which was around 1am
For me it was Journey to the Center of the Earth.
Le weekend! It is so possible!
Talking Heads “Burning Down the House”
Good for Dad … as long as you let him/they know it was cool… good Dad:>)
i should add, that shortly before this, my dad (career navy and a strict disciplinarian) had sat me down and told me:
i was car dating at 14 and never ever abused the trust he showed in me. i knew if i forked up, it was all going away and i would be spending every weekend night in my room studying.
Kinda hard to recall my first movie… My folks ran a theater…! ;-)
two hits and the joint turned brown
i remember concerts like this
Elmore and I arrived in Portland OR yesterday around noon….. after about 15 hours flying from Athens Greece with a plane change in Frankfurt…
Lots of interesting things in France …..really wish I could of done Netroots too but when it came down to choosing …. ya’ll know who won…
Food – fabulous… probably some of THE best ever in my life
Waite Staff – so so…. always plan at least 2-3 hours for a restaurant meal
Hotels – Ikea has made a killing with all those new mattresses (thank God)
Something I didn’t know – France has a large Toll road system called Auto-strada … AND it sure was expensive….to drive across a country the size of Texas was between 150-200 euros… one toll was 29 euros alone…
The French obey the speed limit & road laws…. as there are photo radar all over the place……
But once you hit Italy all road rules are just suggestions… ;)
i bet you were real popular as a kid ct
i always wanted to live at the drivein – thought that would be so cool, watching movies every night upstairs from the snack bar
That is hilarious! I lied my way though every drive in movie that I was forbidden to attend.
Sigh!
I was allowed two at a time… It did sometimes cause me some undue grief tho… which two…! ;-)
Another Veteran betrayed by the cost cutting Rethuglians..If they had put more money into the VA as they knew they should this and other Veterans would be still here! War on the cheap… don Rumsfeld and Darth Cheney….. War criminals All of them..
i bs’d my way into rated r movies because i was so tall – 5′10 by the time i was 13
Good stories, Suzanne.

Teddy! Thanks for the great prior post!
Goodnight FDL,
I do love you.
Since the FISA Amendment passed, verizon switched my DNS. WTF!
How shall we * cough * address the situation?
Love you! Take Care!
as a little kid, we would go to the base movies – only cost a nickle for kids and a dime for adults – i don’t remember what my first movie was but the bride’s first movie (at 4 weeks) was star wars and her first amusement park (and roller coaster ride) was 5 weeks.
g’nite christine e
the neglect of our citizen soldiers is a forking war crime.
Wow! I’m older than your little bella :)
That sickens me to no end…! 8-(
Well, I’m calling it an early one tonite… I bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!

It is a sorry state of affairs that any vet has to go through crap like that when there is help but do they get it… NOoo really pisses me off to just use them and then throw them away after they have given us everything they have… Just another reason to make the word Conservative a four letter word and throw them away. Our Vets should be honored and given everything they need to readjust and given the support and skills necessary to make a life for them selves and their family… shit pis and fucking destruction every time I read about another Vet who has lost it all just because the Conservatives/Rethuglians don’t want to spend the fucking money on our vets makes want to do a little Number on the Conservatives
awwww
Ya gotta love a happy ending clapping for you and dad
Nite sleepy pups I missed as I ranted about the Rethuglians…..
i kept thinking that the mistreatment and outright neglect of our returning soldiers would get america pissed off
but, everyone is too busy watching american idol and the infotainment that passes for real news.
the plan for the dumbification of america has succeeded for the most part. everyone is so busy working to try to make ends meet that no one has much energy to try to find the real news. its much easier to switch on the evening news and get the crap that passes for news.
“Nite sleepy pups…”
Wait!
Don’t go to bed until you’ve seen these sleepy pups:

The warriors will come home, however, and the US will be starkly faced with reality. This generation won’t soon forget what we slept and shopped through, and if there is any justice, the MSM will pay a huge price.
my teen years were not easy for him nor me.
when i turned 30, we went out to dinner to celebrate. i tried to joke about how much money we wudda made if we had bet when i was 15 on what i would be doing at 30. no one wudda believed that i would be a bra wearing republican cop with makeup, fancy hair who did not own a pair of jeans. he refused to even discuss the subject with a shake of his head and that look that i knew so well.
awwww how darling
At least Suz there are some (pups) who get it, the MSM has become nothing but mouth pieces for the Government… especially the Reich Wingnuts… I just hope the pendulum is truly swinging back to sanity and not just this me me me shit sine Raygun was in office….. Money wont buy you love and happiness and last I checked you can’t take it with ya! You earn the love you get by you actions!
Freaking Great Suz.. wow
Like a hot potato
ray-gun led the way on how to mistreat americans when he closed the mental hospitals and turned the patients out onto the streets of california.
Hey Suze, got a nibble on my CL ad for musicians to do a new band.
Old band has two gigs left we’re contractually obligated to play.
At least my day job was saved for a quarter. =:-O
Who wants to hear some Delbert tonight?
That is so cute! He’s really good cuz he put me to sleep too.
Hey That Guy – Let’s hear it!
woohoo that guy
got any delbert and paul?
you fading?
I know and isn’t ironic he died of a mental sickness or at least complications of it… And I know how terrible that was as mom died of the same thing…
Doktor Kondi says that Iran wasn’t serious at the recent talks- so she is about to give them a sound spanking- and they should expect no mercy from her.
Good nite pups off to snuggle with my sweetie… may you all have pleasant dreams when you get there:>)
Ask and ye shall receive…
Here ya go!
condi’s mojo aint what it used to be
she’s lucky if she lingers in obscurity at stanford
we are lucky if she ends up at the hague
g’nite nahant and sweetie
Don’t worry Suz you are making great strides away from con to proggressive liberal..I know it is hard for you but with the lakers help and teaching you will become a true keynesian economics supporting screaming liberal. Youi may find a dem caucus in the Great Northwest and get elected to office running on law and order.
nite nahant
spew
how’s bj today?
hey bb – you gotta picture of bj to share?
Update;
I am now conscious that old dogs get tired quicker and spend more time resting. Blackjack cannot move the caboose any longer it just does not follow orders so he is reluctant as it wears him out. Eats sleeps and pees still having troubles with eliminating solids. He visited a number of households today I rowed my scull on the bay. Came back an got him, went to park and put him on the grass and a women with a 1 year old Austrakian shepherd came over and vibed with him. He got a lot of lovin today. Went home he was glad to rest tuckered after wolfing dowm turkey and rice with a little veg soup mix.
He is helping me with older dog skills. He is still havin some fun.
i can e-mail one for you to post?
Sounds like you two are lucky to have each other
sure, email it to me and i’ll put it up at my place for you so you can link to it for others bb
bb, i did that for jacqrat so she could have a link to show off her bravo.
Ahmen! That was one of the ugliest things I have ever seen human beings do to others. And you can still see the results on the streets of any town bigger than say 50,000 in CA. Homeless people blithering away totally incapable of securing gainful employment in a Reaganesque economy. In 1966, I was appalled to see families sleeping in doorways in Bogota. The United States of America has now degenerated to that level. And we blame the victims.
i always think back to that as the moment that america lost itself. reminds me of that first they came for poem
now we neglect returning soldiers. how much lower can we go?
Charming..when I met Blackjack he was he was 6 weeks old in a box near Shasta Lake with the rest of the litter sound asleep and the fattest of the litter. So I picked him and came back and got him in a week when it was safer for him.
One day I took him to the feed store and got him a bright red horse training leash he waltzed out of the store tossing it proudly up an down tp the pickup we lived in. We lived really close. Cuttin lose will be a big chore, He is a political animal and spent probaly close to 1000 hours at community meetings. He has a great nose and is well liked by the lady dogs.
It’s not them – it’s us. With their “coaching,” we let our standards of decency slide – what is tolerable – expecting less and less from our institutions and ourselves.
Yeah, it was their “30 year plan,” but it worked.
Token looks very wise…maybe Hobbit like?
grumpy is more like it – he is sporting his summer do – very short and you can see his eyes. he looks a lot like he does in my avatar – only 9lbs instead of 2lbs 4oz.
ok, pups, there is a hot steamy bath calling my name. bb, send me that picture and i’ll post it for ya
g’nite pups – thanks for hanging with me tonight
nite suz
Newt, you are dead on. The boomer generation bought Reaganism, hook, line, and sinker. And what we have today is the direct result of that buy-in by the boomer generation (which includes me, sigh).
Ten year plan to end chronic Homelessness is a community based effort now in 350 jurisdictions. We should lobby the critters to fund it. It puts people to work and build trasitional housing managed by pros. It the builds low cost permanent housing. HUD is one of the sponsors. We need more section 8 funding and grants to build this.
Property managers have blackballed these clients in majority of rentals. They have no credit. And little income. Lot of addicts and alcoholics. ya know that war on drugs we spent trillions on. Just sayin we do not need more prisons we need more housing and it is cheaper. The doc and list of supporters would get me blackballed it is so long.
I don’t know if a particular generation bought in, but we seem to have been enthralled with our teevee and our stuff. Can you imagine young men and women on December 8th, 1941 being consumed with their iPods and American Idol?
Maybe the thing that brings us out of it is another world war, a commitment to save ourselves and the planet from ourselves – it isn’t going to come from “Islamo-fascists.”
It will come, like all shitty things now, from within.
We are not fucked, but we are pretty late to wake up.
Reaganism.
Every time I think of Reagan I think of the promise of nuclear winter and how hungry I was.
Yup, less and less and less.
America deserves John McCain.
Per David Kurtz of TalkingPointsMemo:
Speaking as one who wallowed in Watergate, I was astonished by Dean’s brilliance and rectitude. He still impresses me, but I wasn’t impressed by his performance in the Olbermann/Greenwald dustup.
Barr has much more to atone for. Nevertheless, when Obama swung to the right, I condemned him. Perhaps, Barr’s swing to the left should be cut some slack. In fact, if my state isn’t in play, and Obama hasn’t made nice to the left, maybe I’ll vote for … No! No! No! I can’t even think that thought. Get the behind me, Satan!
Meanwhile the Gen Xers they ‘tell’ us are apathetic are turning out not to be so much. I’m one of ‘em. I didn’t buy Reaganism so much as grow up in the midst of it. I shouldn’t know anything else. If it wasn’t for my canadian family, i’d probably have bought into it like so many others, but i never did. Not when i could see the difference not 10 miles away across a border and where my grandma, aunts, uncles and oodles of cousins still live.
I’ve got friends who caught onto it in different ways my age, but not a whole lot of them.
fuk it, I’m in the McCain camp. Who could shaft America deeper? He’d fuck bush harder than any other tools out there.
God bless you for your efforts. Somehow the cycle has to be broken, but prisons don’t do it. And, people who had studied such things knew better from the beginning of the incarceration-solution effort.
I’ll be over to the house on that certain Tuesday in November, to chain you to your Barcalounger!
I don’t blame Dean for hanging back during the dust-up.
Yeah, he kinda defied the brilliance and clear-headed path Glenn took, and he assuaged KO – heck, Glenn doesn’t sell his books the way Countdown can/does.
I was thinking about Scott McClelland the other day – Dean has wit and profile and is possessed of a spectacular mind; McClelland is going to ride his one and only book for all it’s worth and then… what – peter out?
Dean knows the path to survivability after his exile. I’m giving him a pass on this one.
Barr – I admire him as long as he’s taking McCain votes.
Obama – we could do so much worse that I can hardly ignore it. But it hurts like Hell.
I’m with you on all counts, and couldn’t have said it better. Thanks.
I’ve always thought the state should execute any convict sentenced over five years. Any individual subjected to the US prison systems is non-redeemable after five years. It would save the state funds, if the state owned the prison, and provide a deterrent for incarceration.
I’m kinda a cynical sob, ain’t i?
Isn’t it funny how after all the years of wishing the “political messiah” would come along, we have clear heads and pure intent when all we can do is look back and see the fuckery in the rear view mirror?
We need more Marcy Wheelers and Jane Hamshers and Christy Hardin Smiths and Glenn Greenwalds and Digbys and Steve Gillards and Bill Moyers’ – they can (and could) see it coming.
Meet Barry Scheck.
Just think how much savings in food 15 years would provide.
Or, I guess, the rational thought, think how much profit could be made from twenty years of labor.
Bad night? you ok??
yeah, grumpy, sorry :/
I hear prison food isn’t much to write home about.
Thanks Sunny. You did it better than I did.
What? You don’t like newspaper mixed with grits?
I like your logic, and I’d be with you on that proposal, except for what I call the “scandal factor.” I mean scandal in the sense of Thomas Aquinas:
The bottom line is that killing people to solve social problems leads others to belive that killing people is an acceptable way to solve social problems. I reject that notion, as do, I’m happy to say, most of the world’s industrialized societies. IMHO, the United States of America should join them.
Luckily, we still have most of them, and we need to find ways to get more exposure for them.
It’s the bug parts, protein aside, that would discourage me.
your thought kinda spoke to me but i think a few words were lost.
I am simply not religious. I did see some nice paintings from the Aquinas school tho.
Yep.
If the next “trial of the century” leads us to another Barry Scheck, it may just be worth it.
No. Never mind.
happens… sometimes fuck! just aint enough ;-)
fuck! fuckityfuckfuckfuck! :)
bailing out now pups
take care of the joint
l8rs newt
please tell me you weren’t serious?
The vast majority of state executions in the world take place in the Peoples’ Republic of China, Muslim societies, and the United States of America. Need I say more?
No, I wasn’t :(
Very bad sense of, not humour, making a point.
Kinda an inverse point. i dunno. The inverse point is sometimes easier to show how wrong it is :/
nope :/
‘k, thanks.
can’t sleep, not thinking so well – too tired. was kinda freaked out for a minute…
Per the Wikipedia:
Damn! Insomnia is not the joy nor the productivity engine it’s cracked up to be.
srry, jest kinda venting.
I’m pissed and somehow just don’t hear that happy happy progrssive message from capital hill.
i’m not even gunna go to wikiscaner for that one.
There is NO progressive message from capitol hill. Those people are bought and paid for.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.
that just begs too many questions for me tonight.
gn!
We’ve got a prison dna testing program going here.. staffed by volunteers from within the system. Troubling piece – no one who plead guilty is eligible.
The stated rationale didn’t make much sense. I fear everyone’s afraid to see those stats.
(((tw3k)))
so true.
guess we’re going to have to look to each other for that progressive msg.
