splash!
splash!
Aww, ya denied me a hat trick…!
Hey! The FDL clock is back in alignment.
That it is, ES! Aloha, ES!
Went wading in the river today for a couple of hours.
you just noticing (ducking)
I think that was the first time I have dived at the Lake
It was an off-balance cannonball
I barely missed the dock
But my refresh fingers are tired.
July 17 Al Gore: “…bold, new strategy to re-power America…”
July 18 “Oil prices tumble in biggest weekly drop ever.”
Coincidence? I think not!
That would’ve left a mark, neuro…! 8~)
By the way…
Digg
Didn’t mean to detract from Suzanne’s beautiful dive
Me too, just below my house! I also live near large cliff bordering a lake as well.. much like the cliffs in the video above.
Water, lots of water, keeps me sane enough to fight progressively without losing my mind I tell ya.
Speakin’ of Tokyo… 7.0 quake off Sendai with a 5.something chaser. Just a mini tsunami there, and nothing for Hawaii.
This has been your earthquake report!
Heh, her dives are not supposed to induce a splash…! (Unless it’s directed at me…)
LOL.. Wasn’t lined up two hours ago. Got to eat dinner and watch the moon while coyotes howl sometime. *g
Mahalo, Hmmm, that’s nice to know that Hawaii’s good to go…
or the forking bulgarian judge grrrrr
Sendai and north of it was one of my favorite areas on the big Island.
dugg, thanks neuro for opening it
Honshu, eh?
Transportation for life.
Yup.. I didn’t make it up to Sapporo.. Loved Fukuoka!
I can take care of him…Say the word.
;>)
De nada. It’s more the Americas that you Hilo folk need to worry about anyway, you with your great big scoop of a bay there.
Here’s a couple useful Pacific tsunami resources. Also world quakes here.
when i get settled, i’m driving up to bc – and will be outta the range of the enn ess aaa
For anyone leaning towards John McCain.
I’m a sick bastard,
Now I am off to fever dreams and night sweats.
Gnite.
Heh heh, “Honshu: The Other Big Island!”
maybe at least that fellow will give me a point or two!
(I understand he has poor judgment)
I didn’t have a chance to venture far from Tokyo, but, I know where you speak of…!
Gotta see Kyoto. Nothing like it.
Xactly, I did a double take…! ;-)
I wanted to see Kobe, right near Kyoto and Osaka…
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/204705.php
Visibly, this is breakubg down. So, let’s cut to the chase. Forclosure Phil is a fucking idiot. Our boy Barak will meet him on any street at any time to debate econoics before a live audience. Deal???
hope ya feel better soon busted
Aloha and sweet dreams to all, I gotta go take care of some stuff. Wotta week, be good to yourselves…
Oh interesting. I’ve heard nothing but good about these guys. Now i see why. *grin*
Mostly biding my time from the workweek at this point and generally looking forward to have a saturday off. :D
aloha hmmm
True, the ‘41 tsunami was from a tremor in Alaska…
Aloha, BK!
Aloha, Hmmm!
Night Hmmm and Busted. Think I will head out myself. Farmers’ Market in the morning and maybe a 6-7 mile hike. Take care and enjoy the company.
g’nite dr dick
Well, I’ll be leaving it soon – More room for you.
;>)
Still dusting the crap off me from the last thread……can’t keep up with you guys when I come late to the smackdown. Nice to be here. More beautiful dives, Suzanne, when you get done with the moving thing and get settled in. On your drive north, imagine up for us some divine dives.
Evening all. Had a great dinner with a great bunch of Firepups! What cool people!
Aren’t they fun.. lots of good energy.
DO tell all!
None finer, Tex! ;-)
Hectic day?
dayam
Hi Betsy!
What did you all talk about?
More important, what did you all eat?
boing boing back one-and-a-half somersaults, tuck position, splashing only ct and the bulgarian
dish! who and do you have pictures?
Hey Suz?
Does the Tech crew know of the glitch where we can’t see the ‘new replies’ link isn’t there anymore from the latest FF3 update? Because i’m having to hard refresh every time to see any more replies by anyone, and it’s driving me slightly batty. ^^ No error message, but the hourglass turns as if it’s never quite ready to complete the action and then nothing at all when it does. *(which normally signals the new reply link showing up)
Like most canadian bands seem to have stored away, i’ve found. Sloan gives me the same feeling.
I love ya, too, Suz…! 8-P
Check out the youtube on this cool new blog. Twins, lots of twins on a train.
http://improveverywhere.com/20…..an-mirror/
everyone is having to hard refresh until they resolve the problem
they are very aware of it
Has to happen – lost my gig, and living here makes one insolvent rather quickly.
“What waters? We are in a desert!” “I was misinformed.”
;>)
I hope the Bulgarian Judge isn’t serving in The Hague when boosh and shooter come up for trial.
He might kind of like their style.
NDFG and Wangdangdoodle and David Niewart are the ones with the pix. Also in attendance were Things Come Undone, Watertiger, Pachacutec, Marcy (Emptywheel), Loo Hoo, CBL & Mr CBL, ecahnomics, Jim White, Blue Texan, Gnome de Plume, and …. I am probably forgetting a few.
Mexican food was fabulous.
Cool, thanks. Good to know they’re on the job. *gives the crew 2 huge carafes of coffee to get them by.*
and Rummy and Condi and Gonzo and Addington and Yoo and KKKarl and…
dayam.. still sucks db
seems to be a lot of that going around – not good at all. any idea where you are gonna end up?
and Jo Betsy and Curious and PrezintGivemeTurkee (spelling) along with his significant other, and a friend of Jim White, and two friends of Watertiger.
thanks. i imagine it’s a killer for the folks on dial up.
Heh, even eCAHN made the trip, eh?
Thanks, Suzanne — made my day. Lovely dive……splashes happen (good when you aim ‘em.)
if it helps, the backstage crew is grumbling too – they are having to mod like we used to in the old days
reminds me of the pd when the dispatch computer would crash and they would drag out the old time cards and timeclock/stamping machine and go back to manual dispatch mode.
The initial objective in Iraq was to get rid of Iraq’s WMd programs. Lo and behold, that had already been accomplised by William Jefferson Clinton, Bush’s predecessor as president of the United States.
The Mission had indeed been accomplished, even before we invaded. What part of that doesn’t the MSM get???
But, to drive that nail in harder, here is military wisdom from more than two millenia ago, explaining exactly why Bill Clinton is a unhearlded military genius and our neoconservative pundits are strategic idiots:
Note that George Bush’s objective in Iraq had already been achieved by Bill Clinton with little or no expenditure of American blood and/or treasure.
Here’s something for the Lurking Mod, to go with that
(scroll down to the second caption)
She has a family member living in Austin.
wow
We used to have the setup on hand in the pharmacy for when the power went out that we could handbill/dispense scripts. Not anymore…now if the power goes out and stays out, we’re dead in the water. No labels, no paperwork no record of the script being run.
Modern innovation is good, but there are times when retro tech is good.
milk, por favor…
better for the corporate bottom line and to hell with anyone needing medicine
spitting – corporate forkers
American blood.
Yeah, but if that was the only measure…
help yourself!
Thanks, ES —— my grandbaby mama is bringing me twin boys in a few months. Her husband, too, of course. Cute ‘onesie’ at a baby store: “Don’t look at me, My twin did it!” Another: “You think I’m cute, You should see my twin.” I’m a twin myself (fraternal b/g) so I know a bit about it. But identical boys will be a whole new thing!
About the time I discovered fdl in early ‘06, I went through a couple of month long period where I had flying dreams most every night.. I flew so much, by myself, like super man all spread eagle, standing up, even on magic carpets. Magic carpets were needed when I wanted to take other people flying.. and over the course of several months I took everyone on a flight.. one night I flew to Canada and picked up darkblack… and we chased the sunset all the way past the Pacfic coast.. Weird, I know… but it was fabulous.
backup batteries……oh too expensive…but but but what about lost business…oh oh patients??
Pappy Shrub would’ve succeeded in toppling Saddam if he hadn’t sat on his thumbs while Saddam was pounding the heck outta the Kurds up north and the Marsh Arabs in Basra, after already inciting them to rise up… If Pappy had imposed no fly zones that Bill later enacted, Saddam would’ve probably been removed a lot sooner, by Iraqis…
Yeah, last time it happened the only other pharmacy in town was still operational. (their power didn’t kick out like ours did). It was also getting very dark to begin with, so we closed up after the District Manager gave us permission to leave. I’m just glad the other place was open, we work with them instead of against them all the time. If we dont’ have a medication on hand, we call and see if they do and vice versa. We’re more concerned about our patients than our ‘bottom line’ and yet we still have one of the best records for customer service in the ‘district’.
Exchange cookie plates every Giftmas too. There are good things to being one of two small town pharmacies. The Corporation can go blow. heh. :D
Hello ES I have to love Al Gore’s energy manifesto. Also hi addicted son was in the audience didn’t he say?
Get a copy of Earth: The Sequel by Environmental Defense Center execs says how it is being done and nust have carbon tax.
I am growing a lot of my food in 3 12×2×2 plantar boxes using recycled grey water from laundry and sink. Aerated the water is no longer grey anf the veggies are thriving!
I wouldn’t be nearly as nice about Clinton as you, wigwam.. hundreds of thusands of Iraqis died under Clinton sanctions… and if he had not maintained such a presence, at probably more cost than we want to admit, the bases would have not been so readily available for the PNAC under Bush Jr. to do what they intended. ANd Clinton knew what they intended to do.
babies – how wonderful dearie – twins are just double the love
We have backup power, but its only enough to keep the emergency lights on. Which was pretty much standard across the board for this company. But not enough to run the computers where we do all the script processing. See my 84 for the rest.
Oh, I’m sure I can find something…Not really a choice involved, I suppose. I was forced to remain here due to family concerns, and frankly wouldn’t have stayed if they hadn’t been a factor. This is not a place for the altruistic…Very little of lasting artistic worth is generated locally.
;>)
And, as to being computer tied: I stood in line for a friend to buy tickets for a show — she was at work and I was free. Ticket machine went down……and the seller tried writing out tickets, one by one. Nuts. Finally just gave receipts and said “Come back for printed tickets.” I’m gripping the receipt tightly. We all need to be able to function when the toobz get sat on!
fingers and toes crossed for ya db – i hope you find the spot that is perfect for you
Today was exhausting, but I should note that one of the wonderful firepups let me use the 2nd bed in his room to rest a while and stretch my legs and back during the afternoon. What awesome people we are!
Bedtime. Night all.
It was YOU
;>)
But, your ‘masterpieces’ do go global… Viral even…! ;-)
But first ….
Despite opposition by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the Army is moving forward with its plan to shoot live pigs and treat their gunshot wounds in a medical trauma exercise Friday at Schofield Barracks for soldiers headed to Iraq.
pain free sleep wishes tex – you deserve it after all that hard live blogging you have been doing. thanks for keeping us informed – almost as good (but not quite) as being there
nite betsy
db – of all the folks here likely to land on your feet/claws/hoofs…
I haven’t read up on Gores latest. I need to do that this weekend.
Earth the sequel? Movie or book?
Been planning on sustainable food supply this week with old friends who are also neighbors (country neighbors, so a couple of miles as the crow flies). If the depression doesn’t hit before next spring/early summer, we might just make it.
The IT person who designed that system should be fired… computers/printers are critical resources so they must be planned that they will stay up for X amount of time and best practice says then backup generators kick in and keep them running… JMO… That’s how I would design it… business/patients are critical…
Dood. I’ve got to agree. My treatise was about military effectiveness, not about morality and/or political/diplomatictic effectiveness, which I agree could have been handled much more effectively.
But, let’s go deeper: War is diplomacy carried on by other means. I’ll agree that on von Clausewitz’s metric, Clinton could have done better, but compared to what has followed and went before, that man was a genuius. But, we’re talking about crossing a very low bar.
You should consider vacationing in Eureka Springs. Really quite an amazing and established artist community here. But don’t tell everyone.
Causing a big stir here in the Isles, Betsy! However, it’s not a one time deal, I know for a fact that goats would be wounded in various ways for SF medics to pass their Q course evals…!
Dood!!! Why can’t I get students to understand?
Not if people don’t peek, CT.
;>)
…Well, I can always go ‘back to the building trades’, newtonusr…But I’ll never come back here, not even if they beg me.
Exactly!
Your creativity is beyond measure. I’m not into platitudes, but I’m thinking that this is going to launch you. You have something. Yeah, you do. Grab the moment. You surely have a bunch of supporters — whether you actually know it. Some of us lurk, but we notice talent and creativity and purpose and stuff.
I know. The building was designed in the mid 80s, when things weren’t quite so PC dependent. We make the second highest sales in the district and we’re stuck in a derelict building that they won’t replace/upgrade/remodel. Cheap ass bastards, and shitty to the employees besides. If you’re not a pharmacist, you pretty much have to put up with being treated as an ‘educated grunt’ even as a pharmacy tech. If i was a cashier i’d have been out of that place, long ago. Pharmacy runs on completely different rules than the convenience store, so it’s tolerable. Aside from my usual chaffing at the bit with any corporation i work with. When you have a very accurate bullshit detector, their doublespeak doesn’t work worth shit.
/end rant. Sorry ^_^;;
Good question… maybe they are of the notion that it doesn’t matter not the way it used to… needs to be drilled into their heads so it becomes second nature…
Well, someday I just might, ES – I like America and Americans a bunch. Sketchy taste in leaders at times, but Canada’s no better and in some ways it is worse – allowing politicians the ill-earned luxury of mendacious hypocrisy is a global issue. IMO, They should all be forced to wear clown suits and speak in carny talk as a condition of employment.
;>)
Hey, ES.
As someone who cares, take a look at this from Jerome a Paris: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..203/553055
His thesis is that the U.S. can wean itself from fossil fuel in 12 years by developing wind energy, i.e., half of Pickens’ proposal.
Wigwam
KO rerun on now
please excuse if I blurt out curses at Repugs
Heh, I’m so busted…! ;-)
Thank you for those kind sentiments, D.
…And there are probably vaccines for it.
;>)
Will do, thanks.
Neil Young was on Charlie rose last night for the full hour.. He’s obsessed with this stuff and having a blast tinkering with new ideas and implementing them. Had a lot of interesting things to say.
I hope our new diary section (Oxdown) becomes a place for brainstorming on a lot of these new energy ideas.
g’nite all – off to pack some more…
I have to say god leadership plan…the more self reliant we are the more their is to share. I am giving the bitter greens away to friends and neighbors. like to be more productive so I am pulling and replanting. Peas now…nice to be part of the Earth’s cycle, We have two or three crops in this zone. Everyone can sprout seeds to eat in the dark cabinets.
Earth:
The Sequel is a 2008 book.
The Al Gore Utube of his speech was on FDL and DK…shhh!
Yup! I agree. I tend to separate military effeciveness from moral rectitude. The sanctions against Iraq were wrong, wrong, WRONG!! Why the fuck couldn’t we simply accept a win??
Aloha, Suz!
Nite, S.
Night Suz… you pack rat ya :>)
nite suz
Well, I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu, too! Aloha Oe!!!
nite suzanne
I’ve got to say that I obses about that energy shit. Getting it right is the only thing that can save us. And, I firmly believe that we can get it right.
Cheap oil wasn’t a win for big oil and MIC….
William Shakespeare would second the motion…clowns doing serious business might be bettter in prison jumpsuits.
Anyway you said was very funny.
KO is blaming Phill Gramm for the Enron scandal
I imagine ET would like it if he would also mention Ted Stevens’ role in that
Agree.. And Neil said it so succinctly last night which was refreshing even for PBS.. Until we conquer our energy problem; war as we know it wont end.
amen.
and clinton kicked out the inspectors – it was their absence that permitted all the fear mongering about wmd.
i give up, my whole comment keeps disappearing!!! and i didn’t hit submit yet!!!
oh well.
last i looked at comments is was at 5–so i’m epu’d by now and who knows the topic could be about clams by now, lol.
here goes again-edited for luck.

ok, time to put away my new toys, thanks for putting up with my christmas morning exuberance. and that wasn’t the only good thing(s) today, pinch me.
Okay. Laughed out loud. Do you also write? Put whatever those creativities to work. You have something. I believe it. And I’ve been peeking. go for it…………………
Well I was wondering if you were going to let that go by…) *little belly laugh*
ooops my 132 was in reply to selise.
I agree, db is a very talented person
I always enjoy his contributions here
somebody should be paying him for doing that
CLAMS did I hear CLAMS.. squirt.. squirt… . squirt…
Clams are good steamed , baked, deep fried and in Chowda ask any one from Boston…
and i would like it if he would mention the name of the president who signed the bill
Wow, yes. I often want to slap Charlie Rose upside the head, as we used to say in south Ohio, but he shut up enough to let Neil Young talk (as opposed to when he shut Arianna down — tho she was gracious). I was so impressed with Neil Young……his spirit gave me hope. As annoying as Charlie Rose can be, he does have wonderfull people on.
Hi CT,
You raise a righteous issue. I had a bit of an inside source during the run-up to and the initial stages of Desert Storm. He had friends in the CIA and State Department who told him that any way they analyzed it, if we invaded Iraq, it would be a win for Iran. That was December 1990 and January/February 1991. Nothing that has happened subsequently could have been a surprise, and papa Bush made that very expicit in 1998 as did Cheney in 1994. No clueful person was surprised at what has happened.
Wigwam
Thanks for the tunes, dmac. I guess you are no longer the turtle with the spunky bullhorn.. I’ll come up with a new one for ya as you settle in with new toys and blazing youtubes.
Also, carpooling in those little autos daily will remind the public to economize energy usage – a public service!
;>)
I rarely watch Charlie anymore… He lets the neo nuts slide with way to much blatant war criminal promotion.. Thankfully I noticed Neil was on schedule earlier this week and set the tivo in time.
Yes.
However, it was a McCain campaign/Phill Gramm story, not a Bush or Stevens or Enron per se story
It just struck me when Keith said that–that I had been hearing about Stevens’s role in it for the past 3 days of TedFest
I guess there is probably plenty of blame to go around
As Arlo Guthrie had a lyric”I want a Kill Kill Kill” and that is what they are about…he may have saved a lot od folks from participating.
i can’t believe it, i tape charlie rose every single freakin’ night and i didn’t last night and neil young was on the show….that’s why my day was so good today, to balance that one out.
h/t to neil-whatever he said and whatever he’s doin’….
darkblack-wishing you whatever you need you get. right away.
time to flop into the feathers, kittehs keep coming to get me….dog already went to her bed.
congrats suz, didn’t know you were packing for real till tonight….good, glad it’s a done deal.
nite.
that looks like a…dare I say it…clown car!
is Mary around?
If I recall, we invited the first gulf ‘war’ by suggesting that it was peachy-keen with us if Sadaam invated Kuwait. Then BushBoy did Round 2 for nefarious reasons. Who thinks it wasn’t about oil all along. The joy of listening to Neil Young was just hearing some sense! Get over oil! There are other ways to move things along. Grow TF up! Get the idiots out of govt. and get some rational people in there. Is Obama rational? I wish I knew.
Clammin up enjoyed the narrative.
Let sleeping Duggars lie
;>)
eureka–still turtle, have to reload the page 4 times to get a comment box that doesn’t disappear–computer still turtle….i’ll figure out a way around it eventually just like i did when it did it before on dialup.
and i write charlie aaaaaallllllllllllllllll the time about his show. all. the. time. they probably just delete me now without reading it.
nahant–steamers are one of my favorite things in the world. if they’re on the menu, that’s what i’m eatin’.
ok, brain drain from too much excitement and wonder….i lost count of the weird perfect pleasures of this day..
sweet dreams, pups.
Standard Oil vertical trust started in the late 1800’s over a century of Rockerfeller dominace. Oil is an institution…an anchor pulling us under.
And the Duggars are at it again! Going for twenty.
Not sure what a Dugger is…I did not intend that to be a “spoiler,” as I assumed everyone here, like me, would have immediately clicked on your link to see what latest wonder you had bestowed on us *g*
I comment on his blog.. A post for every show/guest. No vidoe of archived shows, which I thik is a bad idea on his part. PBS should make all that footage available like they do with Moyers.
i just thought of something as i was signing off, a sneaky evil thought.
yes, i occasionally have one.
i can have 6 email addresses with this new account.
i have two others already, those are ’known’ already, and can have one more if i sign up for gmail……..
would take them a while to recognize/screen letters from all of those, wouldn’t it?
and all the other places i write and have written…
especially if i point out something different in each one….
heh heh
hmmmmmm
it’s a brand new game.
The question is: Can we throw off that yoke?
Neil Young thinks we can.
I pray we can.
Otherwise we are doomed.
eureka–yeah, i’ve written about a lack of archives/access in many ways to his show. and to him.
even appealed to his ego.
ok, gotta rest my brain, if i don’t go to bed now i’ll be up all night and that’s not good for me, so, zzzzzzzzzz.
nite dmac
Not at all, and no trouble to fill it in a bit…Since Mary is not here, allow me to present the nexus between Duggar and vehicles of mass Harlequinism.
;>)
eureka-one last thing, i think he does that because he is a control freak.
maybe someone will put it up on youtube, i’ll try to keep an eye out.
(oh, wait, SOMEONE did tivo it, didn’t he??????)
over and out.
Lots of people think we can – add Al Gore yesterday – his WE campaign has already signed up over a million people. They obviously also believe we can.
I think if we believe we can – we can. That’s kind of what Gore was saying – we ALL have to make the commitment to make it happen. It means action by everyone – not waiting around for the bunch of crooks & liars in Congress to do something cuz they won’t. But working at the state and local level we can pass laws requiring energy companies to purchase all alternative energy that is generated (if your state doesn’t have one already) and pressuring whoever (PUC’s, local power companies) to start investing in the new infrastructure we need, no matter where the power comes from.
Of course, being mindful of our own use of energy, driving habits, and all the rest.
We can do it! We have to!
You have a future, darkblack. I don’t know where you’ll land, but I do hope you will keep us informed! You are somebody.
I tivo’d, but have no idea how to transfer stuff like that.
g’ nite dmac
I actually think we will do it. But, I gotta say, I was thrilled to listen to Neil Young……and I like watching Ed Begley, Jr. …. and I watch for others who are ignoring govt. and just doing what is right. We need the shitkickers to keep govt contained, but we also need the thinkers to keep on working……..leading us on. And then WE need to get on board wherever we can.
We all are.
;>)
Nite, dmac.
LOL I take it Duggar is the family name, then?
Yes…’Jim Bob’ is the patriarchs’ given name, IIRC.
;>)
‘Nite guys. darkblack, keep us in the loop.
They have 19 kids now… and do not sound like they are finished yet.
They live over in Springdale or Bentonville, iirc. About 50 miles west of ES.
g’ nite dearie
just try and keep track of who you are…ho boy… logged in as a different screen name six or more times in the same thread… if you can do that good luck to yus…
located in a fertile valley, no doubt
brushing teeth and it hit me—i absolutely cannot believe i forgot this one!

Well, as long as they can provide for them and don’t force their lifestyle choice on anyone…Wouldn’t want them to become dependent on the State.
Kids are alright…But that many harshes my buzz.
;>)
no, nahant, i meant to the charlie rose show (and others)
eureka–with a cord…..(i’ll ask someone, i only know how to do video from a camera, with a device called myvideo by eskape, wanna put something up on my flickr page when i get around to it, now that i have highspeed i can put video up)
shit, it’s three am..this place is too stimulating, don’t wanna be up all night..outta here.
make sure to watch the swimming song video.
They are on incredible amounts of corporate sponsored welfare/dole. Forking freak show with free everything.
Well i’m hitting the wall in the Ozarks..
Good nite fabulous firedogs
nite eureka
Nite, ES.
And goodnight from me as well, pups.
See you next time.
:)
night pups… guess the toobz are functioning normal tonight… nothing like last evening…
Hiya pups! Got my other laptop back from the shop, and – poof! – I’m ET again….
Big news up here – our Governor – the most popular governor in the USA until now – is embroiled in scandal. It is so fucking complicated, it is hard to describe, but her sense of timing couldn’t have been worse. Alaska’s in the middle of negotiations with big oil on a gas pipeline, and she was winning against them. Probably not anymore…
She fired the state’s top cop out of nowhere. It turns out he might have resisted attempts by the gov’s hubby to fire her ex-brother-in-law, so was canned. But – it is, as I said, getting complicated.
Got yer Fevered Trees right here
Out here it’s summer time,
Milk and honey days . . .
Not always like that anymore . . .
Missin the 60’s, sure U R 2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy7ejeOucvQ
nite nahant
ET – I so hope it’s not the dark-side shit with her.
I don’t know yet, but my long honeymoon with the governor just ended abruptly.
Here’s what’s on my mind, the past:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoJZndRfMQU
San Francisco Girls, With San Francisco Ways.
Cus out here, it’s summer time . . .
Damn I miss the Bay Area, the Fog, and of course, Teh City.
*G*
Her statement is not confidence-inspiring…
And this one is bizarre:
If she used state funds to hire the private investigators, they will have a real doozie up there.
If a stranger me this was Palin, I would not believe it. So sorry.
That’s a gem!
But you would be disappointed in San Francisco radio. It has become a barren wasteland. KSAN was, of course, the biggest loss in the 80’s, and even then it was past it’s peak.
There is nothing here now.
Yeah. Monegan is a very decent police officer. I was on a panel/study group with him on community corrections years and years ago, when I worked in corrections. He was silent for a few days, but is going to start coming out soon.
Corruptio optimi pessima.
Pulling for Alaska.
I’ll put part of an e-mail I sent out to some fdl behind-the-scenes folks tonight, in thanks for help with the TedFest! poetry slam here this week:
3) I want to share something special with you. The last evening of the contest was delayed an hour. The post went up exactly when I was supposed to, as Secretary of the Mat-Su Area Democrats, convene our monthly dinner and organizational meeting. There were over 60 people there. Several young Obama organizers, Mark Begich organizers, Diane Benson (AK-AL) organizers and Ethan Berkowitz (AK-AL) organizers – along with local candidates for our state legislature.
Linda and I were able to start helping the session along at the fdl poem post. I asked fdl commenters to write new poems I could read to the meeting when I gave my talk. They did.
My talk to the dinner/meeting was supposed to be about “letters to the editor.” I did that, slowly changing the subject to Linda’s upcoming trip to the Democratic National Convention, as Alaska’s chosen blogger. Dennis Zaki was there too. His electronic Journal, Alaska Report, gets tens of thousands of hits per day. He’s going to the Convention.
We were able to not only talk to the audience about how Democrats approach new media differently from the GOP, we were able to demonstrate it, even reading new poems about Ted as some came in.
Then my third guest in the new media talk walked in. She is Shannyn Moore, who was recently fired from the Anchorage AM progressive talk station for being, you guessed it – too progressive.
She had quietly left the scene in the two weeks since she was fired. Everyone in Southcentral Alaska who loved her show had been wondering when she would resurface. Here she was, announcing she’s going back on the air, on a Right-Wing Talk station, with NO content restrictions, in a primo slot with Union sponsor – and – going to the Democratic Convention.
There they were – the entire Alaska contingent for either convention (Dennis is covering both) from the press. All progressive. All electronic savvy. All excited. All bloggers. All this, while we continued to blog TedFest at firedoglake. We are SO different from Republicans, folks.
They excited the crowd, too, which included more young people than we’ve seen at these meetings until recently.
Some inspired efforts in the contest!
Great email full of great stuff – even the crappy part turns out well!
I saw Dr. Dean talking about the state bloggers in his intro speech from NetRoots. Very cool, ET.

ARLINGTON, VA — Today, former U.S. Senator Phil Gramm issued the following statement:
“It is clear to me that Democrats want to attack me rather than debate Senator McCain on important economic issues facing the country. That kind of distraction hurts not only Senator McCain’s ability to present concrete programs to deal with the country’s problems, it hurts the country. To end this distraction and get on with the real debate, I hereby step down as Co-Chair of the McCain Campaign and join the growing number of rank-and-file McCain supporters.”
Visibly, this is breakubg down. So, let’s cut to the chase. Forclosure Phil is a fucking idiot. Our boy Barak will meet him on any street at any time to debate econoics before a live audience. Deal???

ET, confusing chronology on this affair and truly bizarre use of the word exclusive. TV station certainly hasn’t done her any favors in its coverage-
looking forward to see what the print media does with it.
Ted Fest has been great fun. Wonderfully creative idea.
You know what’s great about Austin? Cops find you drunk and put you in a cab. Then the old cabby somehow helps you find your truck for the last 4 bucks you have left in your pocket. Then your truck drives you home. And here I am. I love this town. God damn, I’m golden.
you made my night ET. was a bad boy and wandered off to other blogs or i woulda thanked you sooner. you’re doing great stuff up there in AK! i was in Oregon recently. stayed in a B&B near LaPine, south of Bend. that’s about as close to AK wilderness as i’ve gotten.
back in Dresden now, de-lagging and getting ready to get back in the harness.

Now NYT reporting Obama’s arrival in Afghanistan saying he will fly to Iraq later in the weekend. Are they trying to diffuse/normalize McCain’s leak?

Sunny, see also Teddy’s post
McCain Alerts Enemy To Obama’s War Zone Travel Plans
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert this morning. La Collins gurgles about “Summer Travel Plans,” and asks why is Barack Obama going wherever he’s going at all? Anybody he needs to talk to would be happy to pick up a phone. This is the same woman who would, make no mistake about it, be howling that he was an inexperienced lightweight with no foreign policy experience if he stayed home. Just finished re-reading Catch-22 did you, dear? Mr. Herbert’s column is titled “Yes, We Can.” He says the thing about visionaries like Al Gore is that they don’t imagine what’s easy. They imagine the benefits to be reaped once all the obstacles are overcome.
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got lemon poppyseed muffins today. For your morning amusement I offer you the NYT article on the felons (lots and lots of felons) who are clamoring for a pardon from W. Remember Michael Milken, the junk bond king? Duke Cunningham’s on the list too. Have a great day.
Thanks Elliott, I did miss Teddy’s post. Shoulda known FDL would be on it.
Josh also has an article about Bush moving toward Obama’s position on Iraq (troop withdrawl), Afghanistan (troop increase) and Iran (talks).
My theory is that they realize that if they hope to get the election close enough to steal then the repubs needed to change their rhetoric in those areas.
Then, McCain is going to step down, Romney will get the nomination and Diebold will do the rest.
Now, they just have to figure out what to do with this pesky economy.
What a creepy conjecture… If it’s Romney no doubt he’ll be able to take care of that pesky economy with no trouble at all. Isn’t he supposed to be the genius businessman? I’m probably going to have nightmares for a week now.
Marion, Thanks for updating us everyday. The muffins sound great, but now it’s time for my banana and yogurt.
Yesterday at 10:30 in the morning, I went to see “Mamma Mia”. If you can attend a movie without a critic’s eye, you’ll be rewarded by having just plain old fashion fun. A. O. Scott from the NYTimes said it was like ordering a fruity drink with an umbrella and the next morning waking up with a head ache. The fruity drink part I can understand, the head ache part, no. I want to see it again. Escapism isn’t necessarily bad.
Someone, somewhere had a diary/article saying that the plan is for McCain to announce in August that he was stepping down for health reasons. It may not be McCain’s plan but rather our veep’s. And you know how persuasive our veep can be.
(the veep part is my theory. All the original diary/article said was that McCain wouldn’t make it to the convention)
I read the same thing somewhere. I remember getting a frisson of unease at the time.
Cokie Roberts is just telling us, about Obama’s trip, “it’s all about the pictures.” “Is there anything concrete?” the talking hairdo asks. Cokie can find nothing but risk. “If he changes, he has a problem, if he doesn’t change he hasn’t listened to the commanders on the ground.” Kee-ripes…
Cokie is now telling us “…in Michigan McCain is doing rather well.” I’m not making this up, you know…
It was certainly that way with the Internet, which had been around for 20 years when Gore pushed for national funding for it. And, it will be that way, when we implement the Pickens plan and start getting all of our electric energy from windmills. There’s much to be said for benefits-driven planning. ;-)
Christy is upstairs with PUAC.
