I don’t have a lurkster to do my refreshing for me.
toonz!
it helps to keep chocolate and pecans around
Are you Digging Neuro???
Ya still at Betsy’s?
No! Firefox won’t let me see the magic letters and numbers
That’s why I stopped using Firefox
Does Firefox have a Digg plug-in, or something, that I don’t have?
It never rains, it pours.
I will probably lose my contract job in SillyValley a week from tomorrow.
I’m really drunk. Shitfaced. I earned it.
Would you believe it Digg just went down… dam Stevens has moved his truck over their way… or maybe they are putting those taps in place again… you know the ones they don’t need a warrant for!!

4th Amendment Hit Squad from http://www.bluetidalwave.com/2.....-list.html
On Wednesday July 9, 2008 our U.S. Constitution, specifically the 4th amendment was officially torched by the U.S. government. The Democratic leadership in control of the 110th Congress lighted the definitive match to burn up every citizen’s civil liberties while a giddy unpopular President George Bush and his highly voter despised rubber stamp Republican caucus held the gas can in bravado glee.
The world would be a better place if Bush was as an effective leader of the globe as he is at whipping the Congressional Democrats in legislative battles.
Twenty One Senate Democrats voted to give final approval today to broadening the government’s spy powers and providing legal immunity for the phone companies that took part in the illegal Bush wiretapping program.
This game was really fun.
sorry to hear that, ThatGuy
That hugs… ThatGuy…! 8-(

You have TG! Bnad break ups will do that to the best of musicians :>(
Wow. So wha’ happened?

Holy Gahd, dude!
So damned sorry - keep your head up.

You are not paranoid when people really are plotting to do you harm!

gangster of love
Oh hell yeah. And then I cleaned her kitchen. My karma is up to date.
have to hard refresh to see the comments
believe me, the tech crew knows of the problem
Here is a very thoughtful analysis of the prospect of shifting to wind to get rid of fossil fuel for generation of electricity (i.e., on half of the Pickens plan) by Jerome a Paris, a French energy analyst: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo.....203/553055
Is FDL back to normal? What happened? Should we expect more downtime as changes are implemented?
sweet, thanks wigwam
Digg is hard down… can’t even ping the site… crazy shit happening on the toobz tonight……. just checked the Veterans web site and they are down also…
we were down but are back up - ya have to hard refresh the page (f5 on pc) to see new comments
we hope to have it permanently fixed very soon.
You are vewy perceptive.

I would not have spilled beer on Betsy’s carpet if I hadn’t been so excited to see NDFG again. Sometimes hugs can get out of hand. Or beers get out of hand. One or the other.
so dish - who all did you meet and see?
some of us were chained to the computer at home
Is anyone joining us for mexican food tomorrow besides Austin firepups?
I did instruct TB to give NDFG a hug for me at the treehouse, I empathize, WDD! ;-)
1,706 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Suzanne and the late night Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Ah, the “toonz” ta sooth the savage breast of the savage beast, I hope that these new Kos-like changes in FDL don’t change the late night culture here and the community. I work nights so I can’t comment all the time durin’ the day but FDL “Late Nite” and “Late Late Nite” keep me plugged in and I especially appreciate the music and video space you provide here Suzanne. I hope that the folks on the left coast don’t have the clout ta change the nightly format here ‘cuz I for one appreciate the openness and, I think, the stress level among community members at night is much more managable.
I’m concerned that as FDL goez upscale and more “Kos-like” and mainstream, we’re losin’ some of the older, long time voices in the community. I am happy for Citizens Hardin Smith and Hamsher that FDL is growing and is makin’ waves in the larger reality of our political lives but I’m afraid that a very important function and a big part of the character of this community is threatened…I hope I’m wrong. Losing Citizens like oklahoma kiddo, lahoma and raven is disturbing and isn’t the result of conflict with other community members but, apparently, with staff moderators and even one or the other site owner.
I’m both sad and hopeful for FDL and I’m old enough ta notice change and accept it…though I realize I don’t hafta like it. So please, Suzanne, keep the “toonz” and the tunes comin’ on “Late Nite”…FDL at night is like havin’ a summer cottage by the lake, let’s pay thetaxes and keep it in the family.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THE STRUGGLE IS NEVER OVER…AIN’T IT GRAND??!!!
Looks like there are quite a few web sites going down… just tried a fishing one in Oregon… can’t even get the IP resolved….
Digg is working!
(psssst. Suz. shouldn’t “manhatten” read “manhattan”? The Spelling Police)
I didn’t go, watched the Ustream on nn.org while chatting at the Treehouse. Then zipped over to Betsy’s after to meet up w/ her and the Spookelehs.
I would like to…can you deliver to KS?
Yes.
Holy shit there’s a lot of sites down tonight. Even Slashdot is down.
i have no plans to change late late nite, norske and i have not heard of any.
thank you for your kind words about what we try to do here on the dark side of the lake.
Wish I could…
What are you using for bait?
FUCK!
And so it begins… ?
Wow, norske, I hope not either… Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen Raven for quite some time…! 8-(
Well said, Norske. It’s the people, and this is what we like to do. Keep this possible and all will be well. Even if this part of it becomes just a small inlet in a much larger Lake.
F-O-R-K.
Yer busted.
ok, everyone hard refresh and presto change it is fixed
now, watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat
/. is up for me FWIW.
I can’t make any sense of the outages.. may be a backbone or as I said earlier they are replacing the taps at all those hubs across the nation so they can they can scoop even more info from the toobz…Something may be afoot and we are just seeing the tip of the proverbial ice berg???
shit
For Steelhead shrimp on a diver and bait rig…
Spew!!! Good one.
I haven’t been reading as much FDL as I did in the past. What happened to OKkid, lahoma and raven? I have noticed community changes….
new vacuums for the tubez
Hmmm… even after a hard refresh it still says F*ck…! ;-)
Not here in California at least not yet… your link times out Neuro from here
Huh, that doesn’t look so good.
On the other hand, this looks OK.
there has always been an ebb and flow to the commenters here at the lake. some are more noticeable than others.
At least you appreciated it…! *g*
Wait. Weren’t we warned about this? DNS something or other? The whole forking intertoobz or sumthin’? I know I didn’t just dream it.
the first one loaded up just fine
the second i got page load error
Norske, I hope you keep on urging us to keep the faith, I for one will try my best to do so
Your exhortations and sage analysis are one of the features of FDL I certainly hope we will continue to see here
#2 was http://www.internettrafficreport.com/main.htm
long way from tupelo - more paul thorn
I’ll gladly, second that notion…!
still wont load for me but works for the lurking mod
forking enn ess aaa wants some of my vanilla caramel fudge ice cream and the forkers can suck rotten eggs as far as i am concerned. very rotten eggs
the hard refresh was for the title of the post ct
Also I meant half the systems in the 1st link are showing 30%+ packet loss, pegged in the red.
wangdangdoodle — know of any other Austin firepup gatherings or meetings in connection with Netroots Nation convention? I would love to meet Jane, Marcy, others.
how bad of a bad is that?
hmmm, I was able to Submit, and so far only mpais has Dugg…don’t know where mpais is located
Heh, I didn’t even read that…! ;-)
I am getting a lot of “could not find host” errors. That usually means router issues… could be what are called border routers which have tables for many netorks in them and service IP look up requests… the other possibilities is that there are Domain Name servers down… berry fishy if you ask me… have never seen some thing like this before…
woohoo - gonna try again
Not from here…I get for that link: Firefox can’t find the server at www.internettrafficreport.com
Not sure as I’ve never looked at that site before, but if the measurement is accurate then I’m sure that can’t be normal. Backbone break somewhere?
Suz I still cant get there from here…
the digg is very very slow loading and then i got page load error. i’m gonna do a reboot - maybe it’s on my end
i’ll be right back
no fair having spitball fights while i’m gone.. the lurkster has a new troll zapper button that he’s been wanting to try out - i’m just saying…
Besides dinner tomorrow night, we have a swim party planned at Deep Eddy Sunday afternoon. Anything else will be spur of the moment.
Seems more like router or DNS issues… Suz can you ask the back room boys to see if they can connect all around the country… I sure can’t..
A big hole in the DNS was found and then last week a patch was released — anyone know when the patch was expected to be pushed? Maybe folks are restarting DNS servers at the moment.
Crazy I can ghet to Aljazeera.net… go figure..
But the Bluehill site is showing packet loss, so that’s after DN gets resolved to IP addy. Interesting, the ones that aren’t out are all at 0% loss, everything else is pegged at 30+%.
How will I find out about other things? Betsy said I was on the “list” but I did not know about tonight’s gathering. Are any of the events at the Convention free? Know anyone who attended the Meet John Dean deal tonight — had I known before I drove home after work, I would have been there.
Fortunately, my site doesn’t seem to have been hit… I getting my usual traffic for this late hour… Btw, Dog and Pony Shows…
Huffington post connects to the base server OS but the site is down…
What an excellent way to end the day
http://balkin.blogspot.com/200.....g-you.html
Hell,maybe even the decade
How Addington strong armed the OLC to write the “opinions”
rebooted and still can’t connect to digg
Huh. Really big packet loss in North America starting about half an hour ago.
Tinfoil hat on…what (other than shutting down ET’s Ted Stevens Poetry Contest or FDL’s Big Announcement) would be a motive for somebody messing with the Toobz like it seems somebody may be doing tonight?
I have no technical knowledge whatsoever so can only rely on those who do to suggest plausible reasons for what may be going on
Taking off tinfoil hat now
Same thing here either they are fine or nada… except for Huffpr which gets to the base OS of the server…
tex betsy is gonna be your best bet for info. she knows everything there is to know about who is doing what when and where. she is amazing.
i think she is doing the coordinating of the fri nite dinner for the fdl attendees
At this point I’m guessing it’s not you. Some toobz got unplugged somwhere.
putting on t/f hat
need to install new vacuums to suck up more info from the tubes
taking off t/f hat
Citizen CTuttle:
Hey Brother CT, do you have access to Brother Raven’s facebook or e-mail…one of the other commrads in arms apparently has been in contact and confirms he won’t be around… I think we have lost a number of long timers and I think there seems ta be a bias toward some commenters and frontpage posters at the expense of others that disturbs me greatly. It’s one thing to have a good ol’ set-to with another commenter or poster but it’s another to have the moderators or site owners step in as en loco parentis and take the part of one agauinst the other. I think that the level of condescention from some of the upper reaches has increased noticably…I guess I’m startin’ ta feel what Citizen Raven spoke of - a kind of change in voice, treatin’ some folks like children even when they are actin’ like adults.
So let’s hope we ken keep the culture here late nite by the lake and maintain our surcease of sorrow and listen ta the frogs and the fish jump.
I think you needed a badge to get in to Dean tonight. It was the other Dean, tho, not John. YEEAARRGHH!
It was streamed live on netrootsnation.org, so I felt like I was there.
Email me at jackiew1 AT austin DOT rr DOT com and I’ll put you in the email loop.
I still cant get there from here. Where are you located??? I just tried Boston city hall web site and it is just fine… so it is a hoge poge of outages… real strange… like
I said I have never seen anything quite like this ..
You
ARE probably 100% correct Suz
Look. I’m tellin’ y’all. I read a couple days ago that some shit was coming down on the toobz. A big DNS switch-over or something. Certainly someone else saw it besides me.
Anyone else have a weird van parked outside their house right now?
No, it was JOHN DEAN.

I guess that would be a timely explanation given the Congress’s recent capitulation to the enemies of our Constitution
Here I would insert nahant’s proclamation of same if I could remember where I saved it
Can’t get to http://texbetsy.headonradionetwork.com/ can any one else??
