In theory, the decision to add all these blogs to FDL was great. I was/am very happy with all these additions and I hope the Netroots continues to evolve in this direction. However, readers don’t seem to be supporting the new arrangement. So many great posts from these other FDL bloggers can be up for days, and receive a couple of comments, or none at all. And their previous audience doesn’t seem to have followed them over here by and large.

Plus, after an initial explosion onto the scene 4-5 years ago, readership has definitely plateaued at many of the biggies. FDL has made some bold and visionary moves to give a shot in the arm to site visitation, but it doesn’t seem to be doing much (looked at Sitemeter for the last 12 months).

I work in marketing and know firsthand how difficult it is to change people’s habits for the most part, so I empathize with FDL’s dilemma (can’t imagine how challenging the financial side must be for a venture like this). Could theorize all day why it’s been like this, but it is what it is.

Hopefully Jane’s got some new innovative idea to roll out tomorrow. I just found out about TRex hanging up the keyboard, perhaps for good, and hope that’s not happening here.

Of course, maybe it’s a minor tweak. Time tells all!

julia at 134–emptywheel’s thread the other day on the 12th had a lot of the same stuff. william oldham and me.
http://emptywheel.firedoglake......ment-86524

he also posted that worldwide strategic partners had a bancruptcy hearing the other day.

lindsay didn’t mention anything about phoenix systems, i hope she does, i’m drawing a blank. supposedly the co-creators of the emissions technology and they’re nowhere to be found. it’s fishy as hell. it blew my brain when i found it the other day.

So Southern Methodist University will house Commander Decider’s liberry? But he went to Yale (and Harvard?). Shouldn’t they be required to put it on their campus, as penance for actually giving a degree to such an obvious fraud?
