I COULD quit “gripping” about the lack of response regarding accountability. But with the majority of the nation, and certainly the good folks in here saying the same thing, I don’t think the absence of my one little voice will make much difference to the general din.

Dorgan is good. One of the better legislators in the Senate. I always like to hear his addresses on the floor. Yours was a good response, Christy, to the question. Wish Dorgan or Wexler would have said the same thing.

I’ve been a long time dem. But my heart is very very heavy. We see that soldiers are not being taken care of when they return home. Too many of them kill themselves either outright or with drugs and alcohol. Too many are left to fend for themselves after PTSD and head trauma. Too many are trying to deal with a medical bureaucracy that has (although some things may be better) been unhelpful to those who need disability payments.

We’ve seen unbid contracts. We’ve seen IG reports on contractor abuse only to see the payments go to the contractors without any penalties. We’ve seen hearings (and, oh heavens how partisan they are with the repubs trying to help out their “clients”!) Where is the progress on that front of penalizing contractors? They should, by rights, be up for manslaughter on electrocuting troops! Where is any accountability? Hearings do not make for redress.

Both DONE!
Thank you Mr Bush for squandering the people’s money. It is/was not your money to give away to your crony friends. Hope every one of them are held criminally accountable and the CEO’s are sent to Leavenworth and one of the Fed camper camps.

”Just in time” may work for some industries, but probably not the government. My father tells about how he would go to every office and get a list of what was needed (secretary to technician), then take the list to the warehouse where he would get everything and go back to the job, same day, half hour or so, with 3 bolts, a ream of paper and some pencils, centrifuge, power supply, whatever. National lab.

Now, they order by the box, even if only one is needed, and the supplies may take weeks or months.
