Good Morning!
good morning everyone
did anyone see this over at think progress?
that my friends is treason and I believe there is no doubt cheney is implicated
Good Morning,
So you’re off to Net Roots? Can’t make it this year, but am hoping to go next time.
AJ Rossmiller and Richard A. Clarke will be there, tho.
FDL Book Salon Welcomes Richard A. Clarke: Your Government Failed You
oh perris, linky please!
I’m lucky, it is only 3 miles from home!
I’m really quite excited, I have new batteries for my flash unit & II have decided to eschew the laptop (horrors!) and tote the Nikon instead. I will try to lurk on my cell phone and take a lot of pictures of the famous, noted Netizens, and our own firepups.
Bush Homeland Security Aide Caught On Tape Offering High-Level Access For Donations To Bush Library
oh cool! Am looking forward to your pics! You are lucky you live so close.
and thank you for the Think Progress link. I’ll go read it now.
Good Morning, Chris Matthews predicts an Obama win..Good to hear.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Kristof and Rich in the NYT today. MoDo’s column is titled “No Ice Cream, Senator?” She has a question: Was Barack Obama irritated that he had exposed his daughters to a television interview or that his kids exposed more delicious details about his finicky, abstemious tastes? I’ve got a news flash for you, MoDo dear. It is possible to be abstemious without being “finicky.” Mr. Kristof says “It Takes a School, Not Missiles, and that Greg Mortenson has spent less than one-ten-thousandth as much as the Bush administration to help fight terrorism in Pakistan. Instead of blowing things up, he builds schools. Mr. Rich writes about “The Real-Life ‘24′ of Summer 2008.” He asks are we safe? As Al Qaeda and the Taliban surge this summer, that single question is even more urgent than the moral and legal issues attending torture.

The coffee and tea are ready, and I was out and about yesterday and stopped at the bakery for chocolate croissants. I got lots, so help yourselves. 191 days and counting…
I love Gina and what she does but as long as Kos is involved I’ll be giving this gathering a pass. Real progressives don’t condon or allow the sexist, racist behaviour for which his site is now famous.
Truly he, Bowers and Marshall have a lot to answer for.
Can you elaborate on the sexism and racism charge? A link maybe?
I’m not sticking up for Kos, I hardly ever go there. I was disgusted by all the Hillary hatred over there, but I didn’t know of any overt sexism or racism. I would be interested to know about it.
mMmmmMmm
chocolate croissants, I’ll wait ’til I finish them before I give MoDo a looksee altho why bother, eh!?
As for missiles vs schools, GWB’s own childhood shows his preference. I bet he hated every single day of school. lurnin’s fer sissies.

thanx for reminding me elliot, this is the link to the think progress lead showing video of bush aid selling access to our national secrets for contributions to the bush library
clear, no mistake about it, treason from all partys involved and I bet even bush would have to say those involved are traitors
bush needs to be asked if he thinks these people need to be tried for treason, he will be in a box and will have to say yets
but shorely bush would say it’s fine to give access to the highest levels of government for “friends of the administration” so treason probably wouldn’t stick unless the meeting with these aids were recorded to see what information was breached and what promises were made
so treason, not so much without more tapes…but the implication is clear even if the process would go nowhere
Bush will throw them under the bus so fast. Why has this video been released and not held for a deeper investigation? I’ll tell you why, there’s now way BushCo principals go down for anything.
And who’s going to dare rock their little MSM boat asking Bush an embarrassing question?
Treason is the correct term….. The selling out of the constitution and Republic for the benefit of corporate aristocrats. Jefferson’s greatest fear for the republic is taking place today. I hope the Constitution and the governed survive this evisceration by self serving fascist corporate aristocrats who rape America and Iraq alike these days………….
you’ll prolly enjoy this
Patti Smith Indicts George W. Bush, Anklage von George W. B
good point elliot and good catch
viewed it yesterday. well done Patricia!
marcy is all over it and I’m gonna quote you over there too
Well Elliott, at least there’s somewhat of a backbone left to it! LOL Phew.
This is over at C & L from last night.

We are all in this together:

Did you find it interesting when Hillary Clinton was running for the presidency she decided to start acting like a neocon boy? To me, that was a sexist move on her part (the only way she can win is to act like a gun-toting, whiskey swilling, duck hunter?).
Wrong link for Christian. Here’s the right one
Elliot, this is exactly how corpo-fascism works!
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/…..n-scandal/
Jefferson’s prophetic concerns…. go figure. I believe we should all be quoting the words of America’s enlightened founders repetitively and verbatim. Maybe something will sink in to the brains of Silent
GermansAmericans in our society and the corpo compromised investigative branches of MSM?????My copy function is misfunctioning.

It is treason and I’d like to know how much money is coming from Islam Karimov the leader of Uzbekistan where Georgie sent prisoners to be tortured? Huh. I wonder.
http://whitenoiseinsanity.word.....rygyzstan/
Islam Karimov likes to boil people alive for shits and giggles too. I bet he will send Georgie lots of money for his library because Karimov The Animal so enjoyed all the “treats” (prisoners) Georgie sent him to play with!
Spit. I hate them all. Time for a trip to the Hague!
This is driving me nuts. Christian
Finally. Jeebus.
That is great!
wow, that’s wonderful :)
The man without a shirt toward the end is George Adamson, of Elsa fame, who was murdered by poachers in Kenya in 1989.
that youtube brought a tear to me very eyes
Mine too Perris. The video puts it all into perspective, doesn’t it? ;-)
Has that effect, doesn’t it?
Born Free!
Dat’s da one.
And here I thought I was just a big old softie…
if anyone watches Jason Furman (Obama Economic Adviser) on cnn in a little bit, i’d be grateful to know what furman sounds like (flaming neolib or semi-rational or something else?)
as perris said, here’s emptywheel on it
Does Ray Hunt Do This Kind of Fund-Raising, Too?
Christian was the big old softie ;)
Good morning Elliot.
I think on the top of the post rather than U.S.S. Constitution, you meant U.S. Constitution.
The ship USS Constitution is alive and well in Boston Harbor. It’s the document—and the spirit of the document—that is only a remnant of its former self.
So we painted the deck yesterday, stained it actually and it looks awful. The color swatch was nothing like the actual. So we’re going to have to re-do it, but not today. Today we finish painting the shed. Some vacation! Feh.
quote from the think progress article mentioned by perris and linked at 7 by nonplussed–
PAYNE: The exact budget I will come up with. But it will be somewhere between $600,000 and $750,000, with about a third of it going directly to the Bush library. […]
=
my question is–where’s the other 2/3 rds of that money goin’?
good question.
you’re right, am surprised the USS Constitution survived Cheney’s July 4th visit. Thought a thunderbolt would strike it.
G’morning everyone. The part of this that amuses rather than anguishes is the concept of a library to commemorate the Bush presidency. Hoo boy, gonna be the size of an outhouse, which is altogether fitting and proper, when you stop to think about it, eh? *g*
the ship has lived through worse, but yes, a visit from Darth probably left some toxic scum that will take years to scrape off.
Oh, wow. Tears. Smiles. Oh, wow. Thanks, SD!
LOL It’s gonna smell like an outhouse too! Peeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuu. ;-)
Just picture books.
A working model.
wow, southern dragon, the adamsons….and elsa…one of their books was one of my first ’grown up’ books…..dogeared it.
people forget his wife joy wrote ’born free’…they were a large chunk of my life for many years.
here’s some photos
http://www.fatheroflions.org/G.....s_p.1.html
here’s the wiki on george–i didn’t know joy was murdered, too, in 1980.

revdeb at 46–i brought it up on the local radio show-thanks perris and nonplussed—-and they wondered, too….then it turned into what would be in bush’s library, what a hoot, consensus was it would contain LOTS of videos….and cartoons and comic books…rofl.
and this one just occurred to me—–a ’talking’ card catologue, of course.
And boxes and boxes of shredded paper.
Too bad that amongst all those pix the one I remember most is not shown. It’s a pic of George napping against a large tree with Boy’s huge head in his lap, sound asleep. Black and white but an amazing photo.
oh yeah. that’s a beaut.
always wondered how they get up to it tho. levitate? or fork-lift more likely.
mebbe a burned-out shredder?
oh, and a dish of pretzels, or does he just scarf ‘em outta the bag.
Good Morning Elliot and Firedogs,

how y’all doin’ this mornin ?
world’s most comprehensive collection of Mad Libs
lol!
Dan Rather just predicts Tom Daschle and Joe Biden will have increasing influence in Obama’s campaign.
Who is going to ask him?
Adamson was an amazing man. We so desperately need more like him. Talk about role models.
selise has the second part of her diary up
appendix with detailed timeline.
digg part 2
digg part 1
ps- has everyone read Emptywheel’s most excellent ‘FISA - where do we go from here ‘ post from last evening ? scary good
Tears here too.
Just a quick drive by comment in regard to Phil Gramm’s commentary about how the economic problems we’re having is a “mental recession.” I briefly saw a show on channel 15 this morning that actually found an economic spokeswoman, a “consumer psychologist” that seemed to agree. Her name was Kit Yaros (sp?) and she talked about the fact that all the negative press that the economy is getting is making people nervous and making matters worse. It was unbelievable! I presume she thinks people should just leave their money in an insolvent bank, should do more struggling to try to pay a mortgage reflecting a higher principle than the value of their home and had a rate change that caused the payments to rise to more than half of their earnings when the prior rate was less than 1/3 of their income. I presume she thinks that the increases in the price of gas and groceries should be only causing minimal stress and maybe only causes families to cut down on their savings or get a better job. Apparently she isn’t aware that most families have already done all that before the more recent increases happened. It’s so disturbing that there are actually people out there that out of touch.
SD—very moving video.
who will ask?
was fortunate to encounter cinematographer Wolfgang Bayer - unfortunately just after Joy Adamson’s death - he was inconsolable
David’s upstairs
when was the last time Phil Gramm had to worry about money?
Oops sorry for the multiple comments, i kept getting “database error occurred, try again”, something like that. I didn’t think any comment went thru.
Harold Ford is the best the Obama campaign could do for a spokesman on MTP? OTOH given Obama’s lurch to the right maybe Ford is precisely the person who best reflects Obama’s current views.
I think there must be a conservative agency put together for just this purpose: Rent-a-Pundit. No matter how outlandish or counterfactual the view the media can always find some goof with “expertise” to defend it.
southern at 58–tried to find it, couldn’t find it. oh well.
google wanted me to call the lion ’guy’ instead of boy….
It’s Kos alone that our resident complainer is on about. (Kos apparently has problems with some women.)
the Great Orange is not, as a site, either racist or sexist, as anyone who visits it often can see.
I’d guess it’s going to fund Payne’s company, with possible donations to various neocon groups.
Money-laundering?
Woo, it took me forever to log onto the Lake today. Did anyone else have problems?
Thanks for posting the link to Selise’s piece. I posted links to both her diaries on Greenwald’s blog today. Selise did a fantastic job!
