I loves to Digga!
There is this dog. I might get to have him. He’s just out of puppyhood. But he is so well behaved. Wish me luck.
Been a long couple of weeks, what with H.R. 6304 and all, and my fantasies of … Forget it! Those folks on the other side are evil, but vengance ain’t mine. Turning the tide of public sentiment is our calling. We need to turn this country ’round from the bottom up.
hahaha – thanks and dugg
g’nite sadly
what kinda dog wangdang?
kool
I’ll drink to that, ww! *g*
Yep, more of ‘are you better off?’ and ‘are you proud that your pres. flipped off the world at the G8′ — and for hispanics: “Weren’t you floored when the idiot-in-chief tried to curry favor with Berlosconi by calling him Amigo?! and McCain is just an older version of BushBoy.’ Just keep tellin’ it.
Red, with big paws…
sounds like a perfect match :)
So, did Obama get caught using salty language within earshot of a spinster, fail to use hand signals while driving, manipulate his stamp incorrectly during a heated bingo game, or any other instantly unelectable offense?
The world needs to know
;>)
not that you could tell from that ap piece thers posted about – that’s for dayam sure
i sure wish he would figure out no matter what he does, the right is gonna bitch about it.
Back from dinner. A friend gave us some fresh Prince William Sound shrimp. Ms ET made giant shrimp Louis, with fresh arugula from our garden, butter lettuce from an Albanian organic farm nearby, and fresh homemade mayo for the Louis sauce, and eggs from Arctic Organics, where their chickens are awesome.
dayam, that sounds delicious
now i’m hungry again
The Obama camp didn’t give their celebrity performer good advice. A menopause joke probably won’t ever be appropriate at a campaign event and silly old off-color jokes apparently didn’t fly with the crowd. If you know the media is going to skewer you, a wise person is a bit more careful. Today’s news should have been about Bush flipping off the world!
He is so sweet and calm, doesn’t jump, a mix of Lab and Irish Setter as close as I can guess.
That was my point, and the fact that it was at a fundraiser, and not on a “show” that the right went crazy.
He has – The Left doesn’t like it. It’s always loudest next to one’s own megaphone, isn’t it?
;>)
ET!
‘Today’s news should have been about Bush flipping off the world!’
Every day, babe
TimesOnline reports that, “according to a senior Pentagon official,” President George W Bush backs Israeli plan for strike on Iran, giving Israel the amber light.
fuck
‘Take me away‘
;>)
Well, he’s probably flipped off the world on about 3,909 of the 3,910 days we’ve been saddled with his evil incompetence. Isn’t there a chance he fucked up and forgot to flip us off at least once along the way?
Arugula? Elitist veggies! What do you have against potatoes?
Hey man, that vid you linked up the other day of the Korean Drummer set to Morbid Angel (or similar band) is still making me laugh. I’ve shared with others who freaked out also. Thanks for sharing and adding a lot of extra laughter into the world.
bigbrother –
if you are around, just wanted to let you know that i’m a bit behind but i will get the promised timeline up either tonight (if i don’t fall asleep first) or first thing in the morning.
got a little sidetracked today when i couldn’t access fdl, but all seems good now… and i’ll be trying to catch up.
Right on! Obama needs you on his media team, for sure.
hey darkblack – saw that you got some props from drifty on Monday…
((( db )))
How’s it goin’, eh ?
Do yhou think you could be inspired with another Sen. Toobz picture to match him with his endorsement of Mark Steyn’s fascist book, America Alone?
they don’t go in a shrimp Louis.
Suz- the toon got me thinking about jazz, and Miles.
There are so many great Miles vids at YouTube- I just went with one of the shorter ones.

At the veternarian office last wrrk when Blackjack was so bad I met a seven month old english bulldog with the classic big black spot around his eyes like Our Gang. Whata sweet heart dog. I called Zues and he came right over I asked him (Zues) about his ears as I rubbed em his jaw dropped into a big smile, His proud owner said he’ll likely be 110 when grown. Boy was he a beaut. Short hair and relaxed muscles and very alert.
Heh, heh – I’d give three months salary to be able to get away with doing that!
love it!
I think the “our gang” dog was a pit bull.
i’d post your bail – unless i was, of course, sitting on the group w bench with ya
He was prolly raised right.
Kool..when you have it send to abarrow at sbcglobal dot net as well if that is OK. Don’t do anything this important when you are tired. Sleep on it. Many thanks for your patriotic erfforts.
Dems say that if Lieberwurst makes a speech at the gooper convention he can kiss his committee positions goodbye…Sayonara Jose.
part of the reason token is so mellow is because i manhandled him like a little kid would when he was a puppy. he likes being swung upside down so his ears really do look like bat wings and gets a big goofy smile on his face
i also socialized him to other dogs and, of course, bailey they cat, when he was very young.
Right.
Harry Reid – stern stuff.
Lieberwurst says “scuse me please- I just GOTTA kiss me a little more gooper ass-” Mwwwh mwwhhh.
Been on a BOC kick lately – This one almost makes being one of the undead attractive.
Not quite, though.
;>)
so harry the reed won’t do anything if joe doesn’t speak at the r convention
my money says joe will speak on the sidewalk out front but not at the podium – he will be the pundit in the media booths
“Joseph- if you do that ONE more time- I’m gonna REALLY kick yer ass”
http://www.blog.thesietch.org/…..mbnail.jpg
Now… How about a burger and a malted? I’m buying!
i’ve been on a heavy blues kick – been trying to spice it up more
Joey and Mack – It’ll be a Sly Stone-style wedding.
;>)
I tend to give credit to the cat. *g*
wicked evil laugh
i want proof its not just a marriage of convenience. hold the forkers to the same standards that ICE holds spouses of citizens trying to get green cards.
Lieberwurst- the combative hero of the 2000 campaign, is taking his magic to the other side- where he will curse McBush with his genius for losing.
Malted. Make mine a double!
Perhaps RGJoe and McSame can re-enact the famous “Kiss” scene on stage at R National Convention with McSame playing the boosh role
or should it be reversed, with Short Ride playing the kisser, passing on the mojo to McSame?
will do – thanks!
Leave it to the Germans to come up with a turbo diesel powered cruiser. Wonder how it handles on biodiesel.
bailey spent the first month token was here up on top of the kitchen cabinets. she figured out a way to get to her food and the door without hitting the floor except the one leap out the front door after negotiating from the cabinets to the hutch to the chaise, to the coffee table, to the red sofa arm closest to the door.
she was most unhappy a d-o-g was in the house even though she outweighed him by 10 lbs.

LOL or 707! How are they doing these days?
The US military- facing a “one fuel rule” has developed a diesel version of the venerable Kawasaki KLR to be used by the armed services. Test riders say “it’s kool”
Wonder if RGJoe at the R convention will play the victim role, whining about how the D meanies are punishing him for exercising his free speech rights
like he cares about the Constitution, or something
aarrggghh, I do hate the sound of his whine

Diesel Kawasaki 650 KLR 110 MPG on Horizon
——————————————————————————–
The company that makes the Diesel KLR for the USMC, will eventually offer the same unit for the civillian market.
It is proposed that there will be 3 models. A dual-sport version, highway model and a variant of the military unit. The best part is the 110 MPG fuel economy and 100 MPH top speed. Fuel tank holds around 7 Gal.
If you think about it, a 650 cc with dirt tires that can take you about 7 hundred miles between fill-ups has got to be a good thing
Evening pups late late dinner and just got back to da computer…. I already dugg this great cartoon post Neuro. How is everyone this late late evening?
WARNING: Due to Presidential Executive Orders, WITH CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL, the National Security Agency may have read this email without warning, warrant, or notice. They may do this without any judicial or legislative oversight. You have no recourse nor protection save to call for the impeachment of the current President, 69 members of the Senate and 293 members of the House of Representatives.
thanks for the reminder, vg – i dugg it
they like each other if no one is around and when it gets cold, bailey will even get under the covers but keeps me between her and the dog unless it gets down into the teens and then i’ve caught the two of them curled up around each other. they prefer that i not talk about it (laughing)
token does run up to all the neighborhood cats and touch noses with em. they line up on the driveway in front of the clubhouse and he bumps noses with each one.
And who will care?
Nowhere near as cool as the Neander.
Will the duck quack?
hmmmmm mhacha (swallowing) whatcha got for everyone else
A Canadian perspective on Steyn, ET.
would that be the Terrorist Nose Bump?
Here you go, Darkblack….
Definitely impressive range, I’m not much for dirt bikes though.
suz- I saw you Dugg it- you were one of the first. And some other familiar names there too. ;)
he does associate with cats and is suspected of passing along messages
hmmmmm
The KLR passes as a dual sport- but it’s primarily a road bike- a favorite of real touring types who want to ride to Tierra Del Fuego and back…good mileage and plenty of power.
Hey!
token has been caught doing that nose bump (or at least trying to) with a baby skunk on the creek side of the lattice fence.
I had read that, doing my research for stuff about Ted. Steyn is a rich resource, eh…?
Lieberwurst moves from vp candidate in a losing campaign to take out the trash designee in a losing campaign..
Nice goin Lieberwurst!
That’s OK unless the skunk turns TAIL! wheweye
Keep tomato juice around just in case.
He appears to be working a lot harder in the 2008 campaign than he did in 2000, though.
Gasp!
…
Steyn, yes – Not all Canooks are friendly and polite. I blame the American influence, of course.
;>)

With some luck, you might be able to outrun this dude

Dang I meant to add that but hit the submit comment button tooo fast!
Yeah- workin up a real lather–
a few months ago, as we were headed to bed very late one night, he indicated that he needed to save a tree again. i opened the front door and he bolted out the door and into the ferns under the oak – with his nose stuffed under the tail of a skunk hidden in there
i was screaming at him to back off and just knew he was gonna get zapped. after what seemed like minutes, he finally jumped back – as if he had finally gotta a whiff of what was there and ran back inside. he wasn’t sprayed but i sure was shaking.
Such an exceptional piece, selise!
Yeah- that guy bought me a beer last time I was our ridin..nice guy!
Calm down, man! Take your time and breath.
I’m almost a Canadian – I’m an Alaskan. I’ll blame the American influence as well.
“Good bye Joe- yer gonna go- mia myo
Gonna pole yer pirot down the bayou”
Do we have an official saved tree count? *g*
What? No Youtube?
D’accord.
…
Steyn and I do share one thing in common, I must confess…The admiration of the Lord.
;>)
i live in the middle of a temperate redwood rainforrest. his contributions were more symbolic in nature
Poor Lieberwurst- will end his career- “almost a gooper”
At least his debate with Cheney in 2000 set a new standard for sleepin with the enemy
“He Dick- can I rub yer back a little for ya- ya look uncomfortable sittin there in that strait jacket thingee”
Do I have to throw out the quarters for the jukebox?
Talk about being lucky….. both of ya that is:>)
Terrorist nose bumps?
It’s all that good food we just had… I got a food jag going:>)
Oh yeah, just keep rubbing it in. I live in an oven.
Eating well is the best revenge.
token and bailey are both gonna have some adjusting to do when i move. they are gonna stay next door with token’s sister while i hunt up a place for us to hang our hats and then i’m gonna come get them. bailey does not like to ride in cars and vocalizes it. gonna be an interesting ride up there.
Steyn, when you get down to it, is Bill O’Reilly in a shriller, tinier voice.
Especially with his average volume of liquid dispensed per tree…
Canadian?
I can’t hang anymore. See youse guys in the morning… y’all.
I don’t know if anyone noticed it, but my usual laptop is in the shop. I pulled out my old one. When I blog on the other laptop, or here in Safari, I’m Edward Teller, but when I blog here in Camino, I’m Ed*ard Teller, which is my real nom de blog at fdl…
I DO love that little asterisk
yeap. a redwood can pull the equivalent of 4″ of rainfall outta fog – is how they handle the dry summers
g’nite wangdang
Oregon?
nite wdd
the * is a welcome sight, ET
why did you stop using the * et?
I do too. Takes out the W.
either along the coast in northern oregon (say newport north) or along the columbia river on either side – i could end up in southern washington
Sleep well Wangdangdoodle.. hope at least the humidity has dropped to a tolerable level!! I know the temperature hasn’t./.
The main thing that downs the really big ones isn’t wind or fires. It is real heavy rain falls. Their mass can’t deal with the wight from the water, so they just lean over onto the next big one until a big wind comes up. Then they go from being 300 feet tall to 300 feet long.
Learned that up in N. Cal last month.
It will be fun to watch where you end up. Did you see Edward Teller’s story about how he ended up in Alaska?
a little wing can go a long way
I like your asterisk, too — fun to see it again. I wondered where it went.
our average rainfall in boulder creek is 75″/year. its usually the ground giving way that causes the trees to go horizontal.
No, he’s cleverer than Bill, IMO…his polemicizing isn’t as viscerally displayed within the metaphoric mishmash.
“Canadian? – L.H.”
Well, there is that, but it’s a accident of birth really, isn’t it?
;>)
when fdsl switched to this template, we all had to register (again). The new registrar wouldn’t accept * as a character. I don’t know how this dang thing slipped back in, but it is here.
stevie!!!
which version? heh, heh…
wow.. that’s right. it musta been rbg
So they are on hills?
there ain’t no such thang as flat or level around here :) its wind and water and saturated soils – the mix is what is really dangerous
I complained when I had to get my “W” back. The only thing I liked about Bill Clinton was that he had his people steal all those “W’s” when he left.

yes et, hills but you know how californians are – they call em mountains
Great song, but the video may not quite be safe for work.
hannibal – may i ask a personal question?
These are hills…
I suppose so, if you really really want to.
yeap, what are called mts out here by city folks
only if you wanna answer
male or female – you have one of them gender neutral names
Not bad…But that hippie boy on the bass needs to stop dreaming he’s on stage with these guys.
;>)
I’m a male. And it’s not very gender neutral really, considering Hannibal Lecter, and that one conqueror guy.
it could have been the city in missoria
ok, i forked up that spelling
ET, ah, yes, that little asterix. Brings back memories, it does. ;)

but not to be confused with our Lurk who loves chocolate and pecans
Well, I’ve recently found some good mosquito spray.
Is that part of the challenge?
Probably not, considering one of them is a fictional character of Lithuanian decent, and the other was a Carthaginian, and not fictional.
no – we have less bugs where we live than most places in the lower 48. On a lake, but up on a hill, dry, with breezes.
Now this is some beautiful music.
but not to be confused with our Lurk who loves semi-sweet chocolate and dark-roasted pecans
I always liked a bit of swing.

Well night pups … sleep well… Lurk go back to your chocolate and don’t let that corner fall over!
I still can’t believe that those fuckers passed H.R. 6304. This is the most unbelieveable travesty in my not-so-short existence. What the fuck is wrong with those people? Have they no idea of the principles on which this nation was founded? Can’t they see …?
Forgeth it. I’ve been riding that hobby horse all week. Tonight, I’ll kick back and let it all drift by. But come tomorrow, somebody will hurt. Likely, Obama. Likely, superdelegates will get email calling for an open convention. But that’s for tomorrow.
Whoosh
That Buddy Guy – Roland Kirk – Jack Bruce production is freaking awesome
For those who give a damn, Angelina had her twins. Knox and Vivienne. Well, there’s plenty of celebrities who’ve given their kids far weirder and more annoying names.
No, of course not! But, I’ve made some comments there. You do me a great honor by thinking that I might be flackattack! No, I quoted him bec. he pretty much said what I had been thinking!

On Thursday, I got it on good authority that chocholate and exercise causes new brain cells to grow in rats.
Wow! That is worth waiting up for.
na da chocolate just makes ya think so! night for realsies see ya all next late late night…..zzzzzzzzzzzz
Spent time today trying divine what’s happening at the Office of Special Counsel – it’s like a press black-out is on.
New is Scott Bloch’s Deputy Special Counsel, James Byrne, is going to work for James Comey at Lockheed.
OSC is straight out of a Hiassen novel.
Nothing yet, and I wouldn’t blame her for not having it up. Monumental effort.
I’ve added one more reason to be grateful I live in Alaska – it is way simpler than Georgia, politically. More corrupt, though.
ET – you’ve definitely got some big hills up there.
We’ve got one lesser known one nearby next to Mt Hood that exacts a toll – 3000 ft. up in less than 4 mi.
The wild flowers at the top of Dog Mountain are worth the effort.
.
Sunny, now that is an interesting bit of news!
Byrne to work for Comey!!!!
In case anyone missed it, Glenzilla didn’t post anything yesterday, but today he posted this: http://www.salon.com/opinion/g…..index.html
For me, on the west coast, reading Glenzilla over coffee is the highlight of my morning. IMHO any right-thinking person who misses that daily experience is depriving themselves. Just sayin’.
That’s beautiful! Did you take it? We were in Oregon last month, and got to do the pass by the Sisters. I didn’t even know that incredible drive existed. I think Kirk Murphy here told us about it, so we drove it.
Huffpost says 2 girls ….. she named a girl Knox???
Oh, yes. But, worth waiing for. She did after all .. Oh, hell, I’ll appreciate it when it arrives. ;-)
Yes, I took the picture.

Sunny- I couldn’t find any thing else via google news, and it’s 2 days old, but still!
http://www.govexec.com/dailyfe…..8cdpm2.htm
~~The top deputy to Scott Bloch, the embattled head of the Office of Special Counsel, has resigned to take a job at Lockheed Martin Corp. in what employees called a sign of turmoil at the agency.
Jim Byrne, the deputy special counsel, will work under Lockheed Martin’s General Counsel James Comey, the former deputy U.S. attorney general, sources said.~~~
stick a fork in me, I’m done
nite all
a real mountain
Oh, fucking wow! Comey and now Byrne at Lockheed Martin. Understand, Lockheed’s board and management have a fiduciary responsibility to do what is in the near term best interest of Lockheed investors. Were it to become in Lockheed’s interest to throw people under the bus? ….
nite neuro
wigwam-
I got no idea. But yeah, gotta wonder.
I first noted the Byrne resignation in FDL news, and Sunny had a comment about the spelling of his name Byrne, not Byrnes.
http://firedoglake.com/2008/07…..y-resigns/
p.s. Nothing on the blogs about this either. And only that one recent bit of newsiness I linked- which I found thanks to Sunny’s mention.
wigwam oh, LOL “a sign of turmoil at the agency” like, duh!
Found it in a govt news publication. Hadn’t realized Byrne was handling Iglesias’ case. Would that I’d known before his book salon visit – seems he was the only one who chose to go the OSC route.
Lack of info is bizarre considering how MSM was all over Scott Bloch re: the FBI searches hard drive thingy. Seems a grand jury is investigating Bloch, but since an OSC Rove investigation is also in play, hard to figure.
“Hadn’t realized Byrne was handling Iglesias’ case.”
Oh Wow- that is not mentioned in either of the links! I had no idea either!
Do you have a link, or should I do teh google?
That’s where I found it. NPR (at least until about noon today) was the only MSM dealing with the resignation.
I’ve got a ton of links, but nothing great out there. I believe there is a u tube interview with Tweety in which DI spoke of his confidence in the leadership of OSC (or perhaps just Byrne).
The two year old Kos diary called Who is James M Byrne? is quite interesting reading.
Give me 5 or 10 mins to dig through my links – not well organized yet. I’ll be back.
Google isn’t going to do much more for you directly unless somebody has picked it up. I expected TPM would be on it like white on rice.
Sunny- your mention gave me the only link I could find.
I assume because of the OSC connection you put Iglesias and Byrne together! Smart.
And, even so not a lot of info out there.
very few google hits.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/4/28/2517/19873
snips ~~Remember, Bloch’s OSC is supposed to be investigating three different Republican scandals!
1. Firing of David Iglesias (and possibly more US Attorneys): USAgate~~~
~~~There’s very little mention of Byrne in Google. He’s not mentioned recently on this site or over at Talking Points Memo. The Los Angeles Times story is the only news source (several blogs have reprinted it verbatum).~~~
p.s. linkey to LA times story:
http://articles.latimes.com/20…..na-probe27
snip ~~ He said the investigation of the White House political operation would be led by James M. Byrne, a lawyer in his office.
He said Byrne was setting up a task force to handle the investigation.~~
And, it is worth a read!
another snip ~~Bloch, who previously worked at the Justice Department on a faith-based initiative task force…~~
irony abounds
Sunny- snap! ” Who is James M. Byrne?”
LA Times link didn’t work this am, but did late afternoon.
You’ve got the best of what I have now. I’ll dig for the u tube – it may be linked to the Kos diary. I’m on dial up, so u tube impaired.
Yes, who indeed is Byrne? Probably as speculated in the Kos diary Lt Col US Army. German agenda shows Lt Col employed by DOD. Somewhere I got the notion he was reserves. The last OSC meeting agenda just calls him Byrne.
Perhaps in comments, someone mentioned he was a contracting official in Iraq.
Seems like Byrne cleaned up some of the worst appearance issues re: employee interviews, etc immediately on arrival.
Odd that resignation per npr was by Byrne’s memo to employees.. Where is Bloch?
Whole thing seems hinky. He may have just thrown up his hands and gone to Comey, but no connection between the two clear. No idea how old he is.
Most of my saved links relate to the employee claims against OSC, which I’ve just partly scanned – interesting stuff. No doubt Bloch was a mess just judging from employee claims and a quoted memo. PEER group built quite a file.
Bloch’s homophobia or whatever may be faith based stuff.
Haven’t yet looked for a bar membership for Byrne, might close in on his origins/age.
Found a non-working link to a law review article purportedly published by Bloch.
I’ve hit the wall. Will try to sort what I’ve got tomorrow. Catch ya tomorrow night if you’re around.
Good morning. Anyone up?
I am. but fading. how are you, eCAHn?
Doing well. Have to get back to NYC this morning, pack & catch a plane to Houston. Visiting a friend there for a few days before heading to Austin for Netroots Nation. Didn’t go to the two prior conventions, but looking forward to this one.
Where are you?
In california – going to do Netroots Nation in Second Life, as I hate heat and spending money :D Hope you have a great time.
gonna hit the hay and watch washington journal. safe travels!
I plan to stay inside in the AC. I hate heat too. I’m going more out of curiosity than anything else. I’m not a real convention type person.
It’s really late (early) in CA!
We’re looking forward to your visit! Are you planning to go to the CCR Party on Thursday?
I don’t know anything about a CCR party. What is it?
It will be at the Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill, 303 Red River St., here in Austin, Thursday 5:30 to 7:30. Free food and drink, so it definitely seems to be my kind of affair.
Here is the blurb from the e mail.
In actuality, given the amount of money I have contributed to these two organizations, I guess this food and drink is anything but “Free”. There should be some interesting people wandering about.
Food?
Drink?
Did you know oreos go well with beer?
come upstairs and tell me all about it, I’m starving.
