That has to be be one of the things pushing up demand; military vehicles burn through different kinds of petrochemical fuels at exorbitant rates. I remember stories from Gulf War One and before that the Abrams Tank is such a fuel guzzler, the Army has to field a fleet of tankers to keep them running.</p> <p>I do know the Air Force has looked into the crystal ball at the future, and is busy certifying all of its aircraft to run on synthetic fuel made from coal. They’re not counting on off shore drilling or Alaska - and that fact ought to be a pretty credible argument in any discussion about energy policy. They’re also equipping a number of their installations with wind turbines and instituting other ‘green’ measures. Fuel costs are a huge part of the Air Force budget.
