I have found Marshall B. Rosenberg’s work in what he calls Non-Violent Communication useful. He makes the distinction between violence and force. He calls the circumstance that you cite the “protective use of force.”

I’m confident, it won’t . . . have NOT felt confident, for a LONG time, but now, I think we are ok. And there are certainly OTHER issues to worry about, at home and abroad, as well . . .

Do you discount Mullen’s recent comments? Fallon’s continued dismissal of any attack? Jim Lobe’s assessments?
