I will never give up on my country. We are in a struggle now and may be for a while but I do think that things are going to change and rather rapidly. The public is pretty fed up and things are only getting worse….gas prices, food prices, etc. Maybe we just need to touch bottom before the entire population wakes up and then it will be all over for the elite in congress. They should be very alarmed but they’re not that smart.

But it does remind me of this Pew focus group of Pennylsvania voters I was watching on Cspan a couple weeks ago. Everyone in the group was white, and there was one woman who kept insisting she was undecided, but everything she said pointed to a powerful dislike of Obama and blacks in general. The moderator pressed her, “So you’re undecided. What WOULD it take for you do vote for Obama?” She hemmed and hawed for awhile and finally said, “Well, we’ve only had white presidents up to this point, and they’ve done a lot for the blacks. So maybe if Obama became president he would do something for the whites.”

Another person in the group suggested that we probably weren’t ready for a black president, and wouldn’t be for another generation or two. But by the time his little grandkids were old enough to vote, maybe. Perhaps. No guarantee.

This would be a very bad time to check my blood pressure. The cloture vote is underway. We only need 40 no votes. We won’t get them. All we need is for everyone who voted for the Bingaman amendment to vote no, but they won’t all do it. This is the moment our country has formally abandoned the rule of law.
