He says he doesn’t do “cower.” But he quakes at the thought that McCain might be better at pandering to cowards.
Very good, neuro!
Hey Eureka!
Good to be here……long day at the FISA debacle. Let’s dance.
I can Digg that!
Good evening everyone..
ANyone care to explain to me why only Republicans voted against cloture before the vote for final passage today?
Fun stuff about guys named Larry! First, Larry Craig has some interesting friends. And remember Larry Sinclair, the guy who claimed to have hot cocaine fueled sex with Obama? Turns out he scammed the limo driver.
Do you think that Larry Craig has has more or less bathroom “gay” sex since his exposure?
because the dem’s were shown some of the stuff already collected on each and every one individually and informed what would happen if they didn’t do what they were told?
Goddess only knows.
Can’t say, but I’ve heard tell his wife is now strangely more attracted to him than before.
She must really be a piece of work.
I’m going to take a wild guess and suggest thirty GOPers did that just to make sure the D’s stayed in line. Would have taken 11 Dems to jump in with the GOPers to stop it right there.. if I understand it correctly.
I’m told that Hillary changed he cloture vote to “no” at the last minute. Per Glenzilla:
I would say stalls are out of the question, for now.
Got a petition in my email today, which wouldn’t be at all interesting, except for the fact that it was some paranoid right winger petition that’s almost two years old, imploring people to add their name to it, and forward it, to stop Congress from giving undocumented workers social security benefits. What’s really amazing are the number of people who added their name to it, without giving it a moment’s thought.
I did reply all, explaining that the petition was referencing the long dead McCain-Kennedy Bill. I figured it was nice to do it that way, explaining that the petition was useless, while reminding them that McCain at one time dared to be to the left of David Duke, and that he’s BFF with their arch nemesis, Ted Kennedy.
What about Larry Flynn? Where’s the goods?
I sincerely hope he’s having lots more. He deserves to be happy.
dugg – sorry, was busy backstage.
most excellent choice es.
beautiful.
You mean Larry Flynt? I don’t think anything interesting’s happened with him lately.
So they can say they voted against the bill?
wicked evil laugh
very well done :)
Well for me it’s a twofer.. We have members of Feat living in ES… and I needed to let my virtual hair down after the fall.
Whatever did happen to our good friend Larry Flynt. I had such high hopes concerning his exposure of unhappy, sexually artless goppers.
Also, per TPM Muckraker:
The Senate-reported rollcall makes no sense at all.
McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, they’re both very important pieces of legislation, that his conservative base should never, for even one second, forget. If I had the money, I’d take out ads in Soldier of Fortune NewsMax, and some scat fetish magazines, touting these two pieces of legislation.
Last I heard, he sponsored a man woman marriage only act.. or some such self loathing legislation.
Suzanne, do you think that is a real possibility? I’ve tended to discount such suggestions, but coming from you, it requires a whole new re-consideration. Wouldn’t one of them taped the meeting and gone kamikaze to the media?
Oh wait.. That was Larry Craig. Flyntt, I have no clue. Is he still among the living?
Tom Hartman said that the man/woman marriage act was cosponsored by Larry Craig and David Vitters.
More now because everyone who is desperate, blind, wants to feel cheap and dirty but not in a good way knows exactly who to turn to, John McCain’s entire staff probably weekends with Craig.
John at America Blog has mentioned that McCain has had several gay staffers for years why they stay with McCain instead of finding another job with more dignity like asking people if they want fries with that suggests that some people will do anything for money.
Wait – wasn’t Vitter his co-sponsor? I’m not kidding…
i don’t know why. i figure my tin foil hat theory makes just about as much sense on bo’s vote.
as turley said, its a cave-in, not a compromise. i doubt we will ever know the why.
Thanks, I was going to be a lot more abusive in my reply, but figured subtlety was much more fun.
What’s your pleasure, man?
More proof that irony is dead.
It looks to me like he got blackmailed. Such a sudden sharp turn!
Yeah, and I bet the GOPers will buy ads on BET saying Obama hates their civil liberties and now supports tapping everyone, all the time.
hat it was some paranoid right winger petition that’s almost two years old, imploring people to add their name to it, and forward it, to stop Congress from giving undocumented workers social security benefits. What’s really amazing are the number of people who added their name to it, without giving it a moment’s thought.
Suppose some real evil person sent those signatures to hispanic people and groups on the net with the heading Do you see any person’s name that you know?
Dunno as to Rs not Ds. I made the quick guess that many of these Rs are up for re-election, and it was some kind of “strategic” vote. But, I just scanned the list, and some are, some aren’t. Too late in the eve for me to go off to googleland for a memory refresher.
Actually, wasn’t it a proposed constitutional amendment. And, yes, Vitter was in on it too.
The reported vote has to be an error. it’s at odds with TPM and with Glenn Greenwald and common sense: Feingold and Dodd are not going to vote to close their own filibuster. Are they?
He promised a bombshell this summer, iirc.
Oops. I stand corrected.
I am cheering for Larry.
You know what else stinks to high heaven? Senate roll call page now only lists cloture and final passage votes for the day. They removed Dodd Feingold and other amendment votes already. Couldn’t even leave the entire days votes up overnight. I wonder who asked for that favor?
Actually, that would not be the first time there’s been an error in the “RollCall” report of the vote. I don’t check it out religiously, I remember one time when it was absolutely clear that some votes were tallied wrong, among them HOR McNerney vote. Couldn’t even get McNerney’s offices to pay attention.
Fading fast.
From out here on the perimeter, where there are no stars, I bid you all the best of all possible tomorrows.
Good night.
those nasty peeping tom types at the enn ess aaa had a word with the webmaster for the senate roll call page
i wonder if i may be wearing too much tin foil
G’ nite RonD
nite rond
I wonder if a Democrat with a sense of humor would introduce an amendment to the bill retroactively up to 2 years ago giving wives or husbands 70% of all marital assets if their partner cheats on them with male or female whores.
I want Senator Vitter on the ten Oclock news voting against such an amendment with that picture of him and his wife at that horrible post whore press conference.
I want Larry Craig to be asked why is he still in the Senate? I want him to be asked why he persecutes his own people?
Oh, that’s mean. Funny though!
Larry may have reconsidered and decided that late October would be the more appropriate time….seeings how Vitter and Craig have somehow been whitewashed since the shock…
Any idea how we could go about checking it?
I dunno, but I was just about to ask if anyone had some aloe vera .. my hat is melting fast. /s
He barely made the ten o’clock news for wearing diapers in a whore house. The fix is in.
was sweltering up here today… hit 102 in town and 93 in the shade at the creek
supposed to be hotter tomorrow.
I think CHS took her own count as the votes happened. Selise may have as well.
lol: Nancy Pelosi vs. the Internet
That’s the wrong vote, ES. It’s the vote that was taken after the FISA bill passed. My guess is that it was a slightly more progressive piece of legislation.
Won’t it be too funny to find out that Craig is diapering Vitter. Wet dream.
I’ve been thinking about you all in CA a lot this summer. Such the opposite here.. I think we’ve had two days over 90 degrees so far.. ANd it’s still forking raining! The Beaver bridge is still under water and we probably had 6 to 8 inches of rain in the last 5 to 7 days.
I think the real Summer heat finally sets in here tomorrow.
Per Blowback

And that would be directed at Wexler?
Whew! Thanks, Cujo.
I get the distinct impression that you look down on folks who do that.
Hamilton expressed the fear that protecting specific rights might imply that any unmentioned rights would not be protected:
I go further, and affirm that bills of rights, in the sense and in the extent in which they are contended for, are not only unnecessary in the proposed constitution, but would even be dangerous. They would contain various exceptions to powers which are not granted; and on this very account, would afford a colorable pretext to claim more than were granted. For why declare that things shall not be done which there is no power to do?[5]
Essentially, Hamilton and other Federalists believed in the British system of common law which did not define or quantify natural rights. They believed that adding a Bill of Rights to the Constitution would limit their rights to those listed in the Constitution. This is the primary reason the Ninth Amendment was included.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U….._of_Rights
Seems like all those Federalist Society Quack lawyers like Supreme Court Justice Scalia might not have read even the Wikipedia on the Bill of Rights. Just what legal theory is Bush using to justify FISA? Which one is Obama using?
I wonder if King George who we rebelled against had a legal justification for spying on people too? I wonder if we were to compare that to Bush and Obama’s excuses for FISA just how similar would they be?
You’re welcome. Christy had the rolls in an earlier article. I think it’s on page two now. Too many articles here lately.
Unenforceable and unconstitutional. Suits would be brought immediately if it passed.
Only via the tedious work of watching what might be available in CSPAN archives or maybe videos people might have posted. But, don’t know how much was recorded.
When I was trying to investigate the HOR, someone suggested I contact “The Clerk of the House”. That was late the game, so I didn’t pursue it. But, irrc, there was an email addy available for that person.
But, there must be a “Clerk of the Senate” who tallies the votes. Might take some googling to see who records Senate votes, and if that person has an email addy.
Otherwise, maybe there is some Senator whose vote has been recorded incorrectly, some Senator who has a responsive staff, and might be willing to investigate.
That’s all I got!
OT Got a book of matches at the Coushatta tribe tobacco shop today. Read the instructions.
“Firmly grasp individual match, keeping fingers away from the igniting tip. After liberating said match from its confinement, assure that your matchbook cover is closed. Briskly strike the tip across the provided strikeplate on the backside of your matchbook to facilitate ignition od said match. Repeat when necessary. Flame good.”
No further comment needed.
Per Christy:
At least this one has Dodd and Feingold on the correct side of the vote.
A few words in defense of our country by Randy Newman
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OldToIF5ZGs
ON the ten o’clock news or in a whore house?
The Bill of Rights has as its last two amendments one that states that no enumeration of rights is meant to imply that citizens don’t have other rights, and that any powers not given to the federal government belonged either to the states, or to the people. They clearly never meant for there to be only the rights mentioned in the Constitution. One would think that people who take a “literalist” interpretation of the Constitution would remember those two.

There are
fuckers and non-fuckers.cowards and non-fuckers.There’s a difference? I think they have cameras in both these days.
Nancy better pray that GWB grants her one of his pardons.
Well I don’t look down on much, except liars, hypocrites, and media who intentionally ignores them.
It’s in her nature, I’m afraid. Glenn G. did a good article on that subject a while back. Ah, yes here it is.
So follow him I bet after the election he will let his guard down again I don’t think even he can survive another scandal. Also watch Vitter on any vacation or congressional junket he takes especially if his wife is not coming along.
Or if he decides to go to the Dominican Republic with Rush that would be a twofer. Two GOPers, two whores, Drug charges and well why go to the DR if your straight, white, and don’t like brown people unless you want to do/buy things in the privacy that only a third world country can offer?
Indictment or indictments handed up this afternoon in the Anchorage Grand Jury on Alaska political corruption and big oil. Most likely candidate, ex-President of the Alaska Senate, Ben Stevens, son of Toobz Penguin.
ok, pups, i’m headed off to pack some more and then bed. g’nite all.
You are presuming that the next DOJ will even be tasked to examine this and all other manner of crime.
As painful as it is to suggest, I do not share your optimism.
I would say such a ”rule” would be a very good reason to split the Democratic party’s real progressives off to form a new party. These could offer to form ”common cause” with the Dems…but break with them when things like the FISA vote emerged.
It seems like our political spectrum runs from cowards to those who pander to them. People of real courage are getting squeezed out.
But, Obama, that brown-eyed handsome man, smooth talked us into believing he had spine. Now, he has fooled me once.
So how does stopping us the only free expression of the Left in this country from publishing stuff from Congress that I presume is not classified have anything to do with bringing back the Fairness Doctrine when outside of the net we got KO, the BBC and pbs sometimes?
Nancy is a twisted little girl.
Goodnight, Suzanne. Great news about the sale, BTW.
Before anyone else leaves, I want to point out that the ACLU is going to be running an ad soon in a major newspaper about FISA. They want to have a long list of plain ole’ citizens as signatories. Here’s the link to a page to sign up.
I’m sure most of you read about this in FDL’s e-mail today, but for those who hadn’t …
Don’t look like it.
http://chicagoboyz.net/archives/5951.html
ET, Did you catch The McClatchy article suggesting the GOP is giving up on drilling in ANWAR (for now) and how steamed Senator toobz is about it?
Ha anyone told Scalia this in whatever lawschool he attended?
Those awful people shouldn’t be saying those awful things about dedicated public servants. There ought to be a law against it.
Nite Suz!
Good nite, Suzanne
This is the thing I don’t understand. Why did he show his hand now? Wouldn’t he do that later when he had real power?
nite suz
I’m guessing that he read the first couple, and then just did multiple guesses on the rest on the exam.
i’m only guessing of course….
but it looks like he’s calculated that he doesn’t need us.
Or that we wont abandon ship.
ChicagoBoyz Blog.
I saw that blog biggest bunch of idiots and war criminals in the making I’ve seen why or how the University of Chicago spawned such nitwits of evil is beyond me. Their Ivory Tower is completely removed from the real world.
Where is a Hobbit with a Ring of Power when we need him?
Unfortunately, as long as the Republicans keep coming up with candidates like Bush and McCain, our choices are pretty limited.
Come on say it he cheated:)
What do expect from someone who just voted for the FISA shit :/
But why tell us now? Why tell us at all. He has the votes. He didn’t need to shove our faces in his poo. I believe he was pushed.
and that, my friend, is exactly why i intend to do just that.
slashdot isn’t a very progressive read either.
I’d think if he’d written them on a little piece of paper he’d still remember some.
Mods! If you get a server spike, i submited the ACLU/fisa page to slashdot >:]
he’s not telling us anything. we’re not even on his radar.
possibilities:
1. he’s telling another constituency (that he needs more that us) that they can count on him.
2. he wanted the bill to be passed, but because he is the D candidate for potus, he did not want to be seen as fighting and loosing this battle.
3. he doesn’t need us anymore so it’s just easier to revert to what he really thinks.
Right now we have One-Party Rule. The One Party (TOP) rules all. Republicans and Democrats are mere labels that their minions wear. There are a few rebels, mostly on the Democratic side, and I mistook Obama for one. But either he deserves an Oscar for his convincing portrayal of being outside their grasp, or he got owned the moment the primary was over on June 3.
Tripling staff…… now.
I don’t even like coke OR pepsi!
lol!
Wigwam – have you seen or talked to pete?
Me too. No Dem running against my GOP congressman (Boozeman, a complete Bush bot and idiot). The AR Dems didn’t even try to primary Boozeman! And no Dem of GOPer, pre or post primary, running against Mark Pryor. I have no choice but to vote Green on every ballot bubble. Now the presidential bubble and my party affiliation are completely up for grabs.
The One Party (TOP) cares very much about 1984-type power. Total Information Awareness is too good to give up.
I understand what you are saying. It just seems that if he is a stealth motherfucker why didn’t he just keep on being stealth particularly since the bill was going to pass anyway.
A week or so ago. He’s at emptywheel a lot. And even he was starting to have his doubts, when Greg Craig made his bizarre comments to NYT. That was the last I interacted with him.
Was there a time when there was not two party rule?
Why not run a buncha independents and caucus with good ideas?
Then he Calculated wrong! The Center Dems will turn on him just like Obama’s Senate Mentor Holy Joe did. There is no Center to appease outside of Washington! There are just us 70%ers on the war and the 30%ers just where is the middle ground?
Where are there center voters? has backing faith based programs gotten Obama any votes. Has being in favor of making it harder to get an abortion gotten Obama any movement higher in the polls?
The voters are polarized 70 our side 30 their side there is no middle because everyone is paying attention.
Why is Obama acting like Mark Penn is running his campaign?
I want to see Obama’s fundraising numbers I bet the individual contributions have dropped lets see Obama claim to represent change without us by running like he were running for Bush’s third term!
i imagine it was the possibility of a page 1 headline at wapo that said something like: Obama loses key vote.
no presidential candidate wants their name next to “loses” on the front page of any paper right now.
Don’t say the O word tonight!
I’ll start saying FUCK!
I am so glad I stayed away from Nancy’s daughter’s FDL book club. Political advice from Neville Chamberlain or how to compromise with Evil and be corrupted by it.
You’re waking Curly and Larry up?
Went into the house to watch the 10:00 news to see if there was ore info on the indictment. none.
Yeah, I saw Toobz was steamed…
I caught a rerun of Feingold on Countdown tonight. If I were to believe anyone it would be him on this issue.. but he failed to explain how Obama might actually “fix” it. And now that immunity is in.. half of it may never be fixed anymore than Water Gate or Iran Contra.
As for the other half.. when was the last time congress or a president actually granted “us” liberties?
:0===|
That was lame. DLC21 or whatever it is. message control.
Just wait until the Presidential Race starts in the fall:)
Or, as the Mariners coaches say when they’re calling the bullpen “Get Shemp up.”
my apologies. won’t happen again.
but i do think a few “fucks” are in order.
Touche…then he bribed blackmailed his teach!
yeah :/
Nite Suz
I heard about such a thing in my history classes. I’d be happen if we had more than one. But IMHO, the more, the better.
Nite, ES
Nite, folks
Nite, enn ess aaa
You keep track of the evil righty blogs? You read them and not by accident? You must eat Habenero peppers straight!
our liberties are not theirs to grant.
but i think i get what you mean: when have they recognized our liberties constrain their action?
don’t have an answer for you. i think it’s up to us to claim our liberties.
Rest well, neurophius.
I heard an interview with her on NPR, where she was complaining about the awful things the people on the net were saying about her mother.
Yeah, seems like it’d be better.
nite neuro!
The poor guy had to pitch the party’s candidate and knew full well how silly he was talking. And Rachel simply said, “And then he vote for this bill.”
How long does it usually take for a suggestion to end up as an article there?
I love munching on habeneros! :D
I do read right-wing stuff but don’t follow any one in particular.
It’s an explanation that fits the facts, yes. Any other explanation that would make it possible for him to know nothing about the Constitution would also work, although I can’t think of any besides incredible bad fortune.
Hey I said I stayed away from the book club that day because well I know that its hard to believe but sometimes I have a hard time CONTROLLING MY TEMPER!
dunno! first time i ever submitted one. dunno if they’ll even post it. They did three or four FISA up tho and slashdot is the sorta crowds that thinks about the issues.
You eat them straight?
Is there anyone else out there who believes that NPR has gone to the dark side. Tonight that had an segment on Obama making a “U turn” on his letting there daughters get interviewed by reporters. Not a word about all the U turns McCain has made, on issues much more important. So if you are donating to your local public radio station (and many are worthwhile), tell them if they want another donation, they need to tell their NPR buddies to either be fair when they use a term like “U turn”, or no more money. That is what I have told my station and now I will will wait and see. By the way, this is one of the milder examples of NPR’s unbalanced political reporting of the presidential candidates. So let NPR know what you think, good or bad.
Things sure Came Undone today, didn’t they, TCU?
‘nite
oH MY. your words are so big and strong. :)
Yes, sometimes endlessly.
I welcome our Slashdot overlords, and all your /. are belong to us.

i have no doubt that NPR has long ago crossed over.
all your snark are belong to us.

winter 2002. the email reply i got from their ombudsman isn’t on this computer or else i’d share.
contribute to democracy now! – real public radio news.
McCain U turn?!!!! He’s hiding his mixed race adopted child from any photographs as best I can tell.
Could a Dem ever get through a primary, much less this far into the general campaign without prancing all children into public view?
Sometimes kids have to talk to their parents no matter how hard it is and tell them that they are wrong, embarrassing themselves and their kids or about to be arrested for war crimes.
I wonder if Bush can be arrested on the spot when he signs the FISA amendment for breaking his oath of office.
Yes Things did Come Undone like Obama’s courage! I’m not sure what is worse his vote or his excuses for his vote!
Anyway Good Nite neurophius
We are all anonymous tonight, that’s for sure.
I have an early day tomorrow, so goodnight all.
Ms. Pelosi clearly thinks we are evil people and her dear mother is a long-suffering public servant. But, the more I think about it, the more I convince myself that Nancy belongs in the Docket at Den Haag alongside Bush.
Those intrepid suits on House Judiciary are
ready to pouncelooking the other way.g’nite!
Goodnight Neuro, and everyone.
nite cujo
me too.
By far the worst were his bullshit excuses, e.g., “This bill will save FISA.” WTF?
To protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States?
I helped make her entry into Facebook unpleasant.
She was trying to sell her book and I kept posting stuff about taking impeachment off the table in a bid for democratic presidential power.
By far the worst were his bullshit excuses, e.g., “This bill will save FISA.” WTF?
No this is your
brainbill on drugs Obama.That one!
think anyone reads the bills for bush or does he just trust the repug critters to do well?
I’m finding it difficult to believe that Obama really believes in this bill. Nobody changes their mind that fast. I think that someone has photos of him in bed with a live boy and/or a dead girl.
Bwahahaha! That story deserves a post:)
or bad airplanes
I bet her Daughter turns GOP after this election.
nite Cujo
an alternative explanation is that he-who-i-promised-tw3k-not-to-name was always in favor of the bill and just pretended otherwise because that was what was necessary to win the nomination.
I heard something on NPR that really ticked me off.
Guest was the writer of “Good Night Bush“
and the interviewer kept on asking whether he didn’t think this was just too out of the bounds of common decency, if the book wasn’t somehow sacred in the minds of parents and of little children everywhere, and just didn’t take no for an answer.
Instead of the little mouse that runs around the room, a little Osama roams freely, unnoticed. I’ll have to get that book.
On Charlie Rose, Ted Koppel says the Chinese hold between 600,000 BILLION and one TRILLION in US Treasuries. Maybe they’ll buy up the USA from our corporatists…….oh, you say they already are?
Why turn GOP when you can best accomplish GOP dreams as a Dem in name only?
Could a Dem ever get through a primary, much less this far into the general campaign without prancing all children into public view?
Obama should bring all of his kids to every debate and ask John where his kids are.
No Representatives in the House read this 114-page lobbyist-written deliberately obscure piece of shit before the voted on it. It was submitted to the House at 5:35 pm and was passed at 12:48 pm the next afternoon. Hoyer didn’t even provide vasaline.
lol! not that great of a story, really. made the point tho, i think.
FISA is the least of our troubles.
In that case, that man deserves an Oscar.
That or we could all pitch in and hire the LA paparazzi to photograph McCains children.
Ach. Meant to say, kept asking if the original “Good Night Moon” wasn’t sacrosanct.
there are some very happy people somewhere tonight.
China you can believe in!
Invent some dialogue of Nancy’s response to your efforts to remind her about war crimes being off the table.
Or you can claim that you are the reason why Nancy wants to stop Congress from sending anything to the blogs without her approval first.
Oh and inform me if you get a post so I can read it:)
Time for me to crash. G’nite all.
Why pay just tell the press that they do drugs with famous people and the press will follow them for free.
At this point it is more productive to argue in forum about dod propaganda and iraq. :/
worse than that. the closed rule was passed earlier in the day:
g’nite wigwam!
Citizen selise:
Me too, citizen, me too…and remember that there are plenty of fascist enablers in the Democratic leadership that’s why it’s so important to kickstart Obama’s courage or they will eat ‘im alive in January
Did you all know that more Buicks are sold in China than in the US? Ted Koppel says so, and I’m going to buy some GM stock on that news.
DO y’all really think that blog is credible? First I’ve heard of it and I don’t want to believe Pelosi would want to censor all D congresscritters from free speech.
G’ nite wigwam.
The world changed on September 11, 2001. Cheneny throw a secret coup but a coup is no good if it’s secret.
The writer confuses our leader with our country. To criticize our leader is to his mind the same as bad mouthing America NPR and PBS seem to have to many Conservatives without fact checkers or editors.
Are there any honest but wrong Conservatives out there?
nite wigwam
i think John Wonderlich is as credible as they come. please note that he has his own take and doesn’t just repeat other’s claims.
No until our money or civility runs dry.
That’s pretty funny really. Security contractors are trying to get people worried about chinese hackers while the chinese have funded iraq.
The most dangerous weapon the chinese will use against us will be capitalism.
p.s. that bit i just posted is from a draft diary i’m working on (ok, i didn’t work on it at all today) to review the fisa related events in the house during the past year and attempt to connect the dots.
Is that Snark? The profit margins are not that high in China which explains why Mattel the marker of matchbox cars is now worth more.
Honestly I forgot where I read that or I’d give you a link. I hope I’m wrong.
Ah, cool! I’ll have to read it when I’m more awake.
Maybe Pelosi has been leaking bad info out to see where it goes ;)
This was the link someone left above.
LOL! great pic.
there’s nothing to read yet – and won’t be unless i give myself a kick in the ass.
Not snark. Fascinating info from Koppel on his time in China. Something we all ought to be paying attention to. We know, of course, that the US has been borrowing from everyone to finance our ‘war’ in Iraq (OsamaBL laughing his fool head off as he accomplished what he set out to do) …. and then buying plastic crap and going into more debt. Gazillion Chinese kids learning English…..the leaders have long term plans, while we fritter and titter and simply mess around. Very interesting. I’ll put my grandkid in language school to learn Chinese.
see the twitter link?
http://twitter.com/johnculberson
lol
But think of it — isn’t it fascinating to think that more Buicks are sold in China than in USA?! What a concept.
My DailyKos diary on Ted Stevens’ latest rant is up. No word yet on whether or not his son was indicted this afternoon in Anchorage…..
Your right that came from the Chicagoboys who may just be lying its not like that fact came from a Lefty Blog. By the way just how often are facts on the big Lefty blogs wrong compared to the big righty blogs or Fox News?
Recommended and reading now
Yes its called bankruptcy. GM has been anti hybrids cars with low milage for decades I’ve been reading their self serving to their own personal reality justifications on this for years. The Volt is only one car assuming that the battery does not catch on fire.
Ford is even worse but nobody is talking about it.
cool. I’m so stoopiiiid to put up Kos aticles in the middle of the night, but…..
i recommended it ET – but seriously, if you are going to keep repeating this bit:
will you please address my previous comment wrt the “Consumer-First Energy Act” – it is a pos legislation and the dems should be mocked for proposing it.
1,699 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen EdwatrdTeller:
What’s the news up in Alaska…please tell us the good people are winnin’ up ther
But if China owns our car companies in the near future, well, what are you gonna buy? Did I read that some mideast company just bought the Chrysler Building? I wonder what it will be like when America is sold off?
Recommended your diary, ET..
Hitting the sleep wall here..
Good nite fabulous firdogs.
nite eureka
love this thread
dunno, here is the letter:
http://gopleader.gov/UploadedF…..letter.PDF
don’t see pelosi’s name on it.
still seems dumb to restrict content to house.gov domain
i.e youtubes, tweets and stuff like that.
OTOH i’d wouldn’t want to have to pull official docs off of restate or something.
Good point China does have the money and they love buying American companies to get American Tech on the cheap me I’m going to buy the most fuel efficient car I can afford.
Nite ES
g’nite ES!
i’m gunna try the sleep thing again too.
nite, good luck tw3k
selise,
sorry I missed dealing with your earlier concern. All this energy legislation appears to be bullshit to one degree or another. Nobody seems to have a real handle on it. FDL, in criticism of Boone Pickins plan, and pickin’ – a pun intended – it apart, is more up on it than most places.
Norske!
The next wave of pure shit is about to hit the Alaska GOP – more indictments coming, beginning tomorrow moring. Stay tuned, pups.
continuing…..
ET – the reason i’m so adamant about this issue is that our energy policy (and financial policy of successive bubble formation) seems so dangerous.
the dems have known what needed to be done to prevent speculation in the energy markets since at least 2006 and have not acted. if we don’t hold the dems to account too – how are we going to get some reasonable legislative action? i don’t see how and i’m convinced that matters are getting desperate. this is too important an issue to be used only for partisan advantage.
That’s why I’m supporting Diane Benson up here, rather than Rahm Emanuel’s PAC puppet, Ethan Berkowitz in the race to run for Don Young’s seat. Please help me get Blue America to endorse Diane Benson.
They’ve endorsed Mark Begich in his run against Ted Stevens. But, because one of the people on the Blue America board doesn’t want to offend Kos, who is an old friend of Berkowitz, they’re refusing to endorse Benson. The difference, in terms of funding, might put another future Blue Dog in Congress.
NO!
that’s just my point. you’ve read hugh’s analysis. have you taken a look at Stupak’s H.R. 6330?
have your watched any of the recent congressional hearings? greenberger – who, has testified three times just in june (and was great) has some awesome written statements (i just finished reading most of the three a couple of days ago).
will give you links to the recent hearings if you will hang on for a couple of minutes
thanks, selise, I’ll hang in. I was, until now unfamiliar with this bill. Sorry…
i’m not disagreeing with your support for Diane Benson – i’m disagreeing with your repeated implication that the dem energy bill would have been an effective antidote to our current energy woes in general or speculation in particular.
no problem! and thanks for listening…. just very concerned about our economy imploding and was trying to get your attention earlier. squeaky wheel and all that…. i’m off to get you some links… in the mean time here is a bit from the last paragraph of greenberger’s most recent written statement:
still here, and thanks.
Pg 2 could not copy so I typed it out
Please note that nothing in these recommendations should be construed as a recommendation to change the current rules and regulations governing the content of official communications.
Did the Chicagoboys blog even read this? I am not a lawyer but how do they make the jump from this to Nancy is going to ban all House of Reps communications that are not preapproved?
michael greenberger’s personal website (only about a week old – he’s had so many requests for info that he couldn’t respond)
michael greenberger’s academic website
this was the first time i heard greenberger. excellent hearing (with george soros also). and i ripped an mp3 for your ipod if you prefer not to have to stream it.
and here are two even more recent hearings:
greenberger’s written statements are posted both at the committee hearing websites and at his personal website.
see my comment @209
Current Regulations have been interpreted to prohibit such communications, but haven’t we been getting stuff from the House of Reps on votes and other information? Unless that was illegal and if so why isn’t Nancy going after FDL then?
thank you ET! again, i’m sorry to jump all over you… but i’ve been looking for folks who seem interested in the issue. and you stuck your head up (and with that irksome reference to s.3044)
p.s. dear mods – my apologies for the linkfest. i’m sure it got caught in the spam filter – so many thanks for it’s quick release.
I don’t know the rules here are these new rules in effect or not otherwise its talk. If they were in effect then we should be shut out of anything from the House of Reps that we don’t get from the news shouldn’t we?
Our pleasure, selise.
bookmarked!
About to call it a day, but I can’t thank you enough.
thanks again… and here is one more list before i try again to get some sleep.
my list of pending (or recent) bills related to energy speculation regulation (may not be complete – but these are the ones i could find):
Greenberger has a positive analysis of Stupak’s bill on pages 5-8 of his June 23rd statement.
thank you – seriously.
there is one more linkfest list that got caught in the spam filter, but it will be near your bookmark when the hardworking mods release it.
and one more link i should have included, even though everyone here already has it. hugh has an awesome analysis of how the energy speculation bubble was allowed to develop. item number 365 on hugh’s list.
Selise, Tw3k hmm government regulations I stare and stare nothing seems definite I bow to whatever your judgments are in this matter.
did you read john’s post? he lays it all out in a very measured way. so sorry i’m too tired to summarize now, but link is above… must try to sleep. catch you later in the threads….
I posted it on July 6th
Hugh!!!
Nite I’m sleepin too
That one is free also, tripped us up.
again, my apologies and my thanks.
ET – i saw you had posted hugh’s analysis! thought i should include it in the linkfest for pups who hadn’t read it yet.
I’ve gotten a lot of e-mails on that one. All positive. Stephan Taufen – one of Alaska’s most unrecognized, but brilliant fisheries writers – posted a comment you might want to read…
Attaturk is upstairs!
McCain’s Economic Brain tells Americans to stop whining, things have been AWESOME for him!
wow. will email hugh the link (i already emailed him when i saw your post). although i wouldn’t go so far as sedition charges – maybe congress could just re-regulate the markets?
also, you might want to take a re-look at hugh’s item on this – he has already updated it and probably will continue to do so as more info comes to light.
