In regard to the Paris Hilton tax, there is a political time bomb waiting to happen just as a new President and a new Congress arrive: The estate tax is going to be repealed for one year in 2010, only to come back again in full force at 2001 levels in 2011.

This will require some kind of fix that the GOP and their media friends are going to jump on like banshees, i.e. another “greatest tax hike in history.” This - along with the necessary AMT fix - is something that I have not seen either campaign actually address (not that I really expect McSame to do so….)

When Bush came into office, the Congress at the time, in order to keep the price of the tax cuts under a certain amount, engaged in a slight of hand to keep the price of them lower - they made the bill expire in Fiscal 2010. A lot of the Bush budgets projections, however, assume that these tax cuts actually expire to show that they are being fiscally responsible, while hoping that no one is really paying attention.

The estate tax is really susceptible to “no new taxes” shenanigans as the media find it too complicated to comment on. Here in Maryland, for example, former governor Booby Ehrlich stated that he never raised taxes while in office. This is factually false, since he actually “decoupled” the federal and Maryland estate taxes in 2003, which caused the Maryland estate tax to be raised for estate tax payers with assets between $1 mil and $1.5 mil (yes - boohoo - since it did effect his “base”). This allowed Booby to balance the budget while claiming not to raise taxes. The Bush administration is using similar tactics in their future budget projections as well- it is part of Bush’s claim to balance the budget by 2013.

This McSame story is a particularly twisted moment in time, in light of Georgie announcing he will go to the Olympic opening ceremonies, and while partaking of such pretty festivities sit there with their respective Dicks and discuss/compare notes on who tortured the most people.

George W. Bush, North America’s first warlord.

Would someone who’s extremely moderate in their Islamic views be an Islamic extremist?

Obviously all of the holy men are extremists, being extremely devout.

Does geographic extremism count, as in one who resides close to a non-Islamic country?

I sure hope Islamocommunism doesn’t rear its ugly head, it’d be really hard to find a bed big enough to hide under while pissing itself.

In what does McBush’s military prowess excell? Droppin bombs? Marchin? Planning a campaign to make sure that the planes all have enough fuel and bombs? These skills are all CRITICAL to a president!!

It’s sort of a reprise of the old saying that when the only tool you have is a hammer every problem begins to look like a nail. Well, in John McCain’s world, every conflict he sees looks like another Vietnam, and the only thing he knew to do in that one was to bomb, and if that didn’t work to bomb some more.

Before he heads off to defeat the Islamic extremists, McCain should stop at Harvard to collect his MBA. Bush has one from there and his solution to all economic problems is tax cuts. With the same approach, McCain is showing that he knows enough to hold an MBA from Harvard.
