Grace Potter and the Nocturnals performing their single, Apologies, live in Toronto.
What’s on your mind tonight?
Fitz!
Eureka!
es!
Aloha, ES!
digg
Hey
dugg and thanks nahant for opening it
Thanks dude!
Dugg!
Now that was fast, nahant.
good evening everyone..
nahant, my friend, it looks like you double Dugg me there.
not again Neuro… we just gotta get our digg act together…. Well let the Lurkingmod sort it out:>) He always does…
Ya both are too quick on the trigger…! ;-)
the Digg button up top says neuro
yeap, that’s what i got too from the digg button up top – neuro
after you submit the Digg, it is crucial to come back and click on the Digg button and see if yours is the official one. but sometimes even that doesn’t work.
Well I just Dugg your Digg Neuro so all’s that end well :>)
Praise The Lord!
(and some clever folks at Firefox)
Videos used to KILL this old laptop, and I have had to wait a fucking half hour to get into FDL because of it before, anytgh
I always had to skip the You tubes and just get right to the comments.
No MORE! Firefox 3 cured that!
Nice tune Eureka, it is so freakin’ cool to be able to enjoy them now, anything with a Youtube would lock this thing up tighter than a Nun’s nether regions!
Hard refreshed several times before da little digg button registered any thing… Digg must still under construction
the digg has been funky lately – during the weekend there was that forking digg delay of up to 45 minuts before it would register that the digg had been submitted
That’s great news. YouTube has been kicking my butt for a couple of moths. I’ll download it while sleeping tonight..
BTW, I loved the late Freddy Fender suggestion. Loved. It.
He was my late Momma’s favorite.
I will have to check out FF3.
And, I hope the kittehs were in a safe place while you were burning the dead chicken parts.
Equine cat brush report?
ES- busted has cats with a lot of fur. Do yours need the special equine cat brush treatment also?
i dont’ get the firefox lockup that i would get in the old ff 2 now that i have ff3. but, i miss my tab mix plus which is not ff3 capable :(
I officially declared major shedding season complete about three days ago.
Suz, what was tab mix plus?
we are supposed to be over 100 in the shade here tomorrow – bailey will be bemoaning the fact that she wears a full length fur coat. token will play in the creek to cool off but bailey blames me for weather that is not to her liking.
Hi ES. Thanks again for the “recommend” over at Dkos.
I have no idea whether there’s any hope of making an impression on the Dkos majority, but there were sure a lot of folks who did get it. And the contribution that I hope to make is to arm my fellow travelers (oops-bad conotations) with memes and links that will help them carry on the fight.
Hey I put in a snarky protest today when responding to an “are your going to netroots nation?” email today.
I said no, not until they invite me and Suz to DJ a late late show. /s
That must have been a welcome declaration. But, the kitteh brush is awesome. Think about for next season.
its an ff2 add on that made managing my tabs easier.. for example, i could open tabs by hovering my curser instead of clicking.. just move it to the tab i wanted open and it would open
i would go for that :)
If he needs one of those brushes, I would LOVE to pass one of these extras on! Give me a holler at Bustednuckles At GEE mail Dot com, I will always keep confidential info confidential, and I will pass one on, postage paid.
That long haired cat is shedding like a MoFo and that brush is a Godsend!
wigwam – just getting in after not reading lately – wanna shoot your Kos link over again?
Sounds spiffy, I never noticed it when add on shopping.. Maybe it will be a new add on soon.
Hi Suzanne. I didn’t follow that about Firefox 3 not being back compatible with Firefox 2. I don’t recall any such difficulty.
He was my favorite.
not all firefox 2 extensions, themes and addon’s are compatible with ff3.
Busted! I woves ya.
ES, I encourage you to take Busted up on his awesome cat brush offer! You really have no idea of its power!
how can I tell what version of firefox I have? I can never remember stuff like that.
right now I am using Opera, because ff does not like Digg (or at least the version I have doesn’t–on my computer) ff won’t let me submit diggs
toolbar.. help, click on about and it will tell you what version ya have
Can it recharge my iPod, too?
Hi Newt: Here it is: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..466/547691
I loved how Mary made a comment about the strangeness of some replies early on in your kos thread…and of course her appreciation for the quality of you post.
It’s going to take a lot of folks a long time to see the light, I’m afraid. As you’ve said, you’ve been watching from a left perspective for a long time and only semi recently admitted much to yourself.
I still think there must be a way to exert more power than we are.. but we have to be willing to do things we find.. distasteful.. after all we are fighting pure cretins, what should we expect?
thanks
ff 2.0.0.14
any reason NOT to upgrade to FF3? (I don’t use any of the widgets or whatsits–just basic operation)
LOL! Not sure… I think it might generate some static electricity, but doubt that would recharge an iPod. But, I’m no expert!
That’s why I didn’t come see ya, I know you had the awesome tunes but my computer would lock up before I even clicked on anything!
It had some kind of Youtube recognition program and it would lock up just by clicking on a website !
ff 3 is less of a memory hog than 2 was.. is the biggest benefit i see to upgrading
Whoa, busted, dude. If you have an extra, awesome! if not, I wouldn’t want ya to go through any trouble on Jessie Yazoo’s account..)
Hi Suzanne. Sigh! Everything I was using carried over, but I agree it’s a bitch when things don’t.
I’ve learned from many decades in this business to protect myself by staying as “standard” as possible. The key is whIch standard to choose?
In the words of Andy Tannenbaum: “The great thing about stardards is that there are so many to choose from.”
I upgraded to 2.0.0.15 and it’s pretty stable – passing for now on 3.
SInce I use safari most of the time now.. I’ll upgrade FF and give ya a report. *g*
i’m sure over time, the addons that didn’t update will do so eventually.
Poor VG was nice enough to want to send me one but there is a minimum order so she had to send me THREE!
I still have two, brand new, give me an addy, your cat will love it!
You can edit them too. The more recent ones just needs the FF version edited.
They are in your profile folder.
wigwam, thanks for the link. Just started reading the comments, and probably to late in the eve to get through them all.
LOL- “you are so clueless”. Er, I think NOT!
wigwam I recommended your diary
but I wonder if you have some bugs in your timeline
it stsrts out with
“August 3, 2008: PAA passes the Senate with Barak Obama voting against it.
August 5, 2008: President Bush signs the PAA into law.”
neither of which dates has occurred yet, then follows that with a bunch of 2007 dates
should the first two bullets on your timeline be August 2007? or 2006?
AhHaHa, yeah, that’s a great quote :)
sob! Poor Valley Girl! ;)
I was certain they would go to good homes, sooner or later!
I used to have coffee every morning with a bunch of Marxists who called me their token fascist. I liked their diagnoses of what’s wrong with the status quo. When it came to their prescriptions for fixing things, they went their way and I went mine. In those days I was a combination of a Galbraith liberal and some kind of a libertarian — I was impressed with what free markets could in the right circumstance but was painfully aware that in many (even most) situations there were better alternatives. In those days, I’d mock the sentimentality my rightard friends (of whom I also had many) had for free markets — the unseen-hand job.
YGM
Oh Shit. That was 2007. I’ll edit it immediately.
ES- that is your cat’s name?!!!?
Wait a sec, Busted, hold back on the cat brush until we get an explanation! ;)
I started reading and had to stop after the first comment.
“get over it.” Oh man.
Glad you mentioned it before I got back here…
Good deeds never go unpunished.
You know what I was trying to say, it just came out badly in print. ;)
FIXED. Thanks!
uh huh
What’s wrong with Jessie Yazoo? *g*
I didn’t name him, but Jessie sure fits him.
Now, now, Busted! Don’t be over sensitive! I was on a mission! I knew what you were saying, just teasing!
what about the yazoo?
Suz- oh what a fab link!
Suzanne, looking at that cat glare trilogy, the black one at the bottom looks a lot like my cat Emily…but I realize now that she must routinely keep her glare calibrated to STUN…
lately she has been sneaking outside (where she is never allowed) on some of these 90+ degree, eastern-Kansas humid days…if we don’t happen to open the door and let her in at the exact moment she regrets going out, she appears when we do open the door, panting, and with her glare definitely set to STUN
like it was our fault she sneaked out
My friend, who kitty found and adopted first, named him.. Yazoo was for Yazoo City Mississippi..
bailey gives me that yellow eyed kill glare when she wants to go outside and discovers it is raining at the back door. so then she goes over to the front door and gives me the same glare when she finds its raining there also.
my job, as her human, is to fix her weather. she lets me know when i fail.
You missed some good ones to may posting of yesterday, e.g., this one: http://www.dailykos.com/commen…..pid=19#c47
i knew there had to be a story – ya don’t just snag a name like yazoo outta thin air :)
OMG I had C-Span on… woke up to a McCain town hall in Denver(?)
I swear, right there on my screen was Ilsa – the she-vulf of the SS. Shouting and raising her reight-, er right arm and saying – these PEOPLE who expect everything to be given to them! They’ve gotten soft!
I pray there is YouTube video of that available soon. One that shows the swastikas on her upper arms, and everything.
Emily also gets irate when she sneaks out (which she is not allowed to do) and climbs a tree and gets on top of the garage, which she cannot climb down from because she has no front claws. so she plans on jumping from the roof down onto the roof of the car that is usually parked there, then onto the trunk and down to the ground. so if the car doesn’t happen to be parked there, she is sort of stuck on the roof and she always blames it on me.
i think its in the cat rule book that it is always the human’s fault.
Oh, btw.. The suggested names for the firedogkitty were….
Patrick Henry

wigwam! Fucking hilarious. Allow me to quote-
~~You fucking fuck.
I have completely lost my cool on this, I’ll admit, but this is too much to take. Another notherfucker who comes here and appears to support Democrats but who says whit like that. Fuck. We have no fucking chance. Dems saying that. We are so fucking broken.!!!
we are here only to serve
Great choice!
Especially when they find themselves in mid-air suddenly getting a flying lesson.
oops, Emily just walked in. I had better stop ratting on her.
Suz- so funny- had the same experience with my rental cat- weather was expected to be different between the front and the back door!
I giggle a lot, but there is a common theme that we face:
– Bush tells us that if we fail to do what he wants, we face the bin Laden boogeyman.
– Obamistas tell us that if we fail to support their guy, we face the McCain boogeyman.
At the risk of sounding like GWB, I say, bring ‘em on. I love facing down boogeymen.
IMHO, the worst thing for this nation would be a continuation of One-Party Rule. Obama is either with them or against them, and it’s looking like he’s with them. IMHO, McCain would be easier to unseat than Obama. So, he may be the worse of the two choices. Just sayin’.
Like this? he he
You may live to regret that if it decides to grow into it’s name at an unfortunate moment.
Whatch it when you get out of the shower…
*g*
S’cuse me while I have a laughing fit, That is such a classic!
then you may need a bambulance
Does anyone really think if Kerry had been elected in ‘04 we would now be out of Iraq, Afghanistan or the GOP wouldn’t be about to whoop Kerry’s butt in what would be his attempt to be reelected? Nor would congress be poised to take a serious D control this year.
true dat
lol!
Wow
You may be right.
But we would also lack:
3 letters – MCA
Among all other manner of abominations.
bailey says i have to link to this
That is classic. Again, I admit to being a bit of a troll with that posting. I knew exacly what I was doing. I had posted two serious diaries that almost nobody read: one comment on the first and 12 on the second. So, the third I titled “Honesty at last from the Obama campaign.” Of course, those were fighting words to the crew of Obamistas at Dkos, and the crew of clueful thinkers who follow Dkos by the hour couldn’t let their screed go unanswered — god bless ‘em.
But I believe that the overall effect was positive. The clueful got some links and talking points. The clueless got their world view challenged. IMHO, we have to get in their faces.
If recognition is the goal, we all have a long way to go.
But you can’t win if you don’t play, and you never win early.
ok, pups… time for me to head off. the septic company that could not find my tank yesterday will be back digging for it tomorrow. perhaps this time the company will send a crew that will listen to a mere woman telling them where the tank is instead of wanting to wait for a male neighbor to come home.
i forking hate mondays
g’nite all
I’ve no clue what Kerry would really have done. No doubt the Villagers would be farther to the left, simply because they follow power and celebrity. But, for example, Clinton lost that celebrity status by offending Sally Quinn somehow.
We need liberal leaders with “balls,” which is a genderist term but I have no one-syllable non-genderist equivalent. Kerry wasn’t. Nor was Gore. Clinton was, and he won. Obama recently sniveled out, i.e., capitulated. As have Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, Emanuel, etc.
PINKY!!
Lmao.
The cat and the bear and the cat jumping on the kid, my favorites.
Dood! Exactly.
Yikes!
Way past my bedtime!
Time flies when yer having fun, Gnite!

well, I did vote for Kerry, and what a limp rag he turned out to be, esp. in the Ohio vote fight.
But, if I read you correctly, sometimes things have to be allowed to get a whole lot worse before they can get better.
g’ nite Suz and Busted
We have much to learn from our betters.
Night Suz… have to go reconfigure in-laws computer so they can still do the Music School business…. for the fourth or fifth time… George keeps changing ISP’s and wonders why things with email go screwy from their website… oh well have to cut him slack …he turns 90 in October… Good night Pups..
I will explain, if needs be.
nite suz, nahant, busted
Worse before better, indeed.
I cannot help but equate Obama’s constitutional capitulation here with diminished expectations of his supreme nominess and a willingness to fight for damn good ones..
And if Obama is going to be a new DLC leader type… supremes are the only hostage situation I care to allow myself to consider anymore. If that’s gone.. so am I.
I saw some conservative clients the morning after Kerry’s “goose-hunt” and I couldn’t even raise my head.
Never has there been a less effective, more transparent pander.
What a useless campaign.
What does one do to bring some kind of leadership to the correct side of the equation? Is there no one on the left who has sense and strength? If not, then why are we all chatting about it. Should we just sit back and ride it down?
I’m telling people I know that we now have two candidates running for Bush’s third term. One of them is way more eloquent than the other, so he is likely more intelligent and that’s why I’m voting for him.
newt- “goose-hunt” ? I guess I missed that one. But, it really was a useless campaign.
You will remember it when you see this picture…
Kerry goes hunting for Ohio votes
wait! you want someone “likely more intelligent” to continue in the Bush tradition? Is that really a good plan? /s
IMHO, our problem is to scare the shit out of the leaders we already have. And, I’m willing to make an example of any (or all) of them, Obama included, to scare the shit out of the rest. Never in my life, or that of my children and grandchildren do I want to hear a fuck-you from a democratic presidential candidate like the one issued by Barak Obama.
The other question is, HOW MUCH? How much political money is needed to buy out half or more of the media and congress and senate seats? How much initially and how much to keep it? Once we have it, we would insist on public only campaign finance and media reform, which would reduce the long term cost in dollars, not vigilance.
How much?
Let me be perfectly blunt. We need some human sacrifices to show our resolve. And, IMHO, Obama would be a suitable candidate. Losing him would be very hard on the country, but I see no easier way to get rid of being ruled by The One Party.
See, what’s interesting to me is that when I saw Obama speak at the 04 convention I thought…..oh, wow, maybe here is someone different, someone willing to stand up, someone not ‘effete’ and just plain pandersome. Damn, he sure didn’t hold up very long. I’ll still, of course, vote for him rather than McShame, but I will enjoy kicking Obama’s spinelessness every step of the way. And I’ll be looking for someone who really, really has the strength of character to finally stand up to the constitution destroyers, the corporatists, the America embarrassers.
Gently, folks.
I still believe that McCain isn’t nearly as crazy as he needs the “right” to believe he is.
But that’s no excuse.
And recall last year why you and I called McCain the nominee while he was still flying coach…
Just because he’s nearly as unattractive as Rudy as a candidate doesn’t mean he cant win.
OK, but I am tired of them getting worse, I want better now.
Of course, McCain can win. The Dems have been ‘throwing’ elections for almost a decade now. If Obama continues to waffle and to throw out his true constituency, well certainly McCain will sweep in. His mistakes will be totally ignored by the press (who, except us radicals, had the nerve to mention that it appeared that Reagan was more than just mildly dotty, for example?) The right will throw some panic into the mix. The country will crumble in a messy mass. I’d, for sure, be moving out of the area except for my kids. And, oh, I do so worry about what the right is conjuring up for my kids.
Well, the point of my Dkos timeline was the Obama could at least have given us a bit of foreplay before he fucked us. As it was his first fuck-you statement was two hours after H.R. 6304 passed the house. Prior to that this was his last comment on FISA.
I can’t find the link on this thread to the young woman with the Impeach Bush poster calling Nancy Pelosi’s office. anybody know where it is?

Well thanks to the dead bigot Senator, we have one more day to hound the phones and faxes.. I do hope we can keep the tenor as high tomorrow as we did today.. I know I had trouble getting through a busy signal in the DC senate toll free numbers for quite a while this afternoon..
Let’s do it for one more day.
With that I am turning in..
Good nite fabulous firedogs
Thanks, VG. I am going to send it to some folks.
If the Goopers deliver the campaign they promise, McCain could win outright. Think not? They have scared the shit out of the country before, and there isn’t a boundary they won’t step past to do it again.
Truth be told: Progressives can only harm Obama electorally by poisoning him with the middle of the country, because we’re not large enough to effect him with direct votes. If Obama was going to abandon one constituency, we were the natural choice. That’s why he sees little or no cost in fucking us over.
Holy cow.. that was fantastic!
now really. g’ nite
nite eureka
nite all
Hey ES – sorry to be so late arriving just now – simply swamped with work duties. Sweet dreams!
See, I don’t really get it. Who in the hell does Obama think will give him the most energy, if not the ‘liberals’ and the ‘progressives’? No one else cares enough to even pay attention. No, I do not understand why anyone would dis the left. Crazy, I think. Obama is such an easy mark, I think. He’s an unknown who brings a certain ton of baggage. Who is suggesting that he not hold close those who really worked for him? I can’t even recall if I voted for him in primaries. I wasn’t crazy about Hillary. But……the devil you know, and all. But I don’t get Obama. And I will not be at all surprised if he goes down in flames. Sorry for the rest of us, of course, but not surprised.
nite neuro
Niters neuro!
It’s been said by much smarter people here than me – he needs the middle and middle-right.
So naturally, as a candidate, he can’t appear to move too far right, as it’s not his natural constituency, and he can’t assuage the left, because half the country is happy to believe the Kool-Ade they’ve been sold for so long – the Left is loony.
“You don’t have to move to your Right if you can spank the folks on your Left.“
All those who expect to sigh in relief, or rejoice, when the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 passes, might end up not altogether pleased with the aftermath. I expect detailed, ongoing analysis of the privacy, security, legal, moral, and historical implications of the lauded “compromise” to be something to behold, coming from scholars, lawyers, information technology experts, privacy experts, bloggers and traditional journalists, and concerned citizens. Some would say that we’ve already had all that, and I’d see their point; but when the fix is locked in, no longer in flux, it will be a stationary target. There will be some hard looking at the way we are, how we got this way, and what coping strategies should be considered.
The interesting thing is that I AM the center. And most of Obama’s supporters that I know ARE the center. I read something today about Obama not so much moving toward the right but moving FROM the center. How we allowed ourselves to be defined as crazy leftists is another story for another day. I still believe that a person can speak truth and stick with it.
If any of you intrepid late-late-late fire dogs are interested I have a bunch of great moveon.org bumperstickers that arrived today that read

So, here is the best reply to my Dkos post:
Mind you, he is on pont: I did claim that H.R. 6304 makes what Bushh has been doing legal and that that was the only way Obama could claim Bush would henceforth follow the law. Which Obama did claim on June 20 — see my timeline. So here’s the standard talking point bullshit:
…that was the art of compromise where they crafted a bill that provided some flexibility considering that we have a global communications and e-mail infrastructure while providing important limitations that if the GWB administration just went forward as they are today would be illegal…
No argument there.
And how we got there is indeed another conversation, but you need look no further than the “leadership” of both houses NOW for the mentality that allowed us to be defined way back when.
Bonjourno everyone from Melapensa Italy
Hey NPB! I’m in.
Will look great right next to my DFH sticker.
We can trade!
Buon Giorno! My heart is in Italy……………..so lovely.
I can see the Italian Alps from my hotel window… will drive up to Lake Maggiore…. yesterday drove to Switzerland and had lunch on the lake…
katymine!
what epicurean adventures do you have for us this evening?
Buona notte from American.
Hi Dearie. IMHO, currently there are two way differnet notions of center:
– the center of the pundit-and-politician spectrum, which is slightly to the left of the crazier wingnuts
– the center of the electorate, which IMHO is to the left of nearly all Democratic politicians.
Here is my explanation: The nation is polarized into a two-hump curve, but the hump on the left is way bigger. When Obama took his hupefully unfatal right turn, the center of the electorate was to his left and he turned right. Sigh.
Not gonna Obama-Bash tonight…plenty of folks here to do that.
McCain is promising plenty of ponies to attract that middle and missle-right, though. His most recent “economic plan” for one. Senator “99 Years” seems to argue that we’ll solve or economic problems with the “Victory Premium” that will occur when we “win in Iraq and Afghanistan. Problem is that he’s said that the situation is so fragile that we’ll need to be there for another century…or at least it’s “no problem” for him.
But now he’s asserting that the economy will blossom when he cuts taxes on the wealthy, ends the gas tax (thus increasing demand for petrochemical and lessening, temporarily, the solutions in alternative energies), makes the oil companies even wealthier, puts a nuclear reactor in every state (apparently because it “creates jobs” for all those erstwhile Starbucks baristas…not nuclear waste)…and somehow he’s going to balance the budget , too. Because there will be a war dividend “when” he WINS THE WAR.
Of course, the last “war dividend” was quickly gobbled up by another bunch of wars from some sumbitch that asserted that he was going to have a balanced budget, too.
And precisely WHEN is McCain going to end this fictive war? He throws a hissy fit when it’s even suggested that combat troops begin to be out of Iraq two years from now. So doesn’t that mean that his “war dividend” isn’t going to really emerge well on down the road if he is elected? That he’s not really going to be able to build a surplus? Or a balanced budget?
In fact, what’s so different in reality from the Bush Economic strategy of cutting taxes for the wealthiest, continuing making them wealthy through government spending largesse, and dumping it all on the middle-class and poor?
Yesterday Lunch was fresh made pizza lake side with ham, mushrooms, red peppers, artichoke hearts and olives…. and the night before was veal milanaise ….
Hard to understand but hit eating out overload….. the three hour meals can be wearing when you do it twice a day….. Did room picnic last night with prosuto, fresh rocotta cheese and fresh veggies… and of course a bottle of red wine…
I live on the wrong side of the planet!
Is the scurrying about ok?
BTW… the owner of the hotel…. someone who can converse in english long enough to have a discussion…… he brought up all the problems of Italy….
TOO much illegal immigration and the crime it brings, industry closing to China…. factories close and they have lost their middle class, the hotel was once a gold smithing factory, and no jobs.
There immigration problem is not down racial lines but national lines, Albanians are a dirty word here
Tomorrow we fly to Crete for 9 days of sitting in the sun and doing nothing……. but eating, drinking wine and good beer and soaking up the sun and Greek yogurt..
Oh good for you katymine – love ya too much to be totally JEALOUS! ;~)
Never wanted to make anyone jealous…. just sharing…. and this is my celebrate live tour… THANK God I am alive and kicking and will have lots of memories …..
Food in France was heavenly…. the produce and fruit was so fresh you could taste the sunshine….. things not so much in Italy…. they have been Americanized….. MickeyD everywhere…
Off for todays drive around the lakes and to see the Alps… who would of thought I would?
BTW only stamp in my passport is German…. they don’t stamp your passport as you go through different countries at least for us….. they just watched us drive slowly through passport control and poof we were in a different country…
safe drive katymine
i am out, pups
take care of the place
Bonjourno, katymine.
Yea for voyeuristic gastronomic treats!
Another wonderful McCain strategy for helping big corporations and insurance companies.
Does the McCain Health Plan hurt Workers Health Plans?
The hypocrisy of the American Enterprise Institute analyst is simply apalling. He admits that there will be flight to the “better deals” by “younger, healthier workers” (who naively don’t understand the consequences when they will really need affordable health care)…but then says “not to worry…nothing happens that fast in the US”.
McCain’s ideas that he’s going to “individualize” health care by taking it out of the hands of COLLECTIVE buying plans created by employers is simply appalling. It would leave the employer-maintained plans with only the oldest and most risky…so their costs would have to rise. As it did so some workers would drop essential coverage as unaffordable…thus causing rates to rise even more for the plans. Eventually these plans would wither away. Contrary to the claim of the AIE spokesman, companies would not use these plans as “recruiting tools”…in fact, it would open up far more forboding possibilities
The McCain Plan would leave older workers, mainly middle class, vulnerable to the vicissitudes of illness and injury. The number of uninsured would certainly increase. And companies would not see any reason to “keep on” workers who have chronic and repeated illnesses and health-related absences. They would hire younger, healthier workers…or DEMAND that employees have a private health care plan in place. Of course these would be far more expensive for older workers than younger workers, wouldn’t they?
So McCorporations would be able to clear the decks of older workers, for cheaper hires. Suddenly there would be a very real economic difference between the costs of an older worker (even a healthy, more experienced one) and a trainable younger one.
