From an interview with Glorious Beloved Leader in Japan, the question that preceded this "answer" if you can call it that, was this:
Q Last question on Iraq. What is your evaluation about where Iraq is now? Do you think now if the U.S. can afford to withdraw more troops from Iraq, or will you leave that decision to the next administration? What is your assessment on war on terror in general, during your two terms?
In part, this is his answer:
THE PRESIDENT: Well, thank you. Let me make sure I get — this is the old three-part question and I’m about to be 62 years old, so — (laughter.) By the way, I will be celebrating my birthday on Japanese soil; that’s interesting.
Q Congratulations.
THE PRESIDENT: Yes, come to the party. It’s not going to be much of a party; it’s only 62.
Let’s see, Iraq and troops. Okay. First of all, there was — the people have — okay, you got to have benchmarks. I think there was 15 benchmarks — 18 benchmarks. And one way to evaluate progress is to measure what’s actually happened to what was expected, and the progress is undeniable. What happened was security was such that the politics and the economics could move forward. And for a period of time, that was not the case. That’s why we sent more troops in. The combat brigades of the surge will finally come home. The last one will be home in July. So we are in a policy of return on success.
Ah, the old "return on success", now did any of the rest of that paragraph make any sense at all or was it just babble? Was it 15 or 18 benchmarks? "Security was such that politics and economics could move forward"…really? Where?
Must have been in the vaunted surge that we hear so much about, where less deaths are more acceptable than what alternative, more deaths? We’d (Americans tired of the Lies) prefer no deaths, but what we seem to want doesn’t really matter. Because they are just minimum-wage junior enlisted getting blown-up, shot at, or killed in any of the myriad ways men and women die on the battlefield, in combat, with maybe an occasional Captain or Lieutenant Colonel thrown in for effect. Cannon fodder in the world of Preznit Eternally Incompetent and the rich cronies and sycophants who maintain his carefully constructed reality, men and women whose lives mean something to the rest of us and whose deaths are meaningless and futile.
And let’s not forget, please, the dozen or two dead Iraqi civilians each time there is an unscheduled "boom" in a "surged" neighborhood. You know, the inconsequential (to the 1600 Crew anyhow) Iraqi and American casualties of a war sold on lies, fear and a fanatical devotion to Dick Cheney.
In terms of the war on terror, step one is to recognize we’re at war. Some in our country don’t believe we’re at war. If you don’t believe we’re at war, that this is a simple law enforcement matter, then what you do is you wait until something happens and then react. You know, law enforcement is there is an action, there’s a crime, and then there — law enforcement acts.
In war, what you do is you prevent the enemy from hitting in the first place. That’s why Iraq and Afghanistan are very important theaters in the war on terror. People — some think these are separate wars. It’s the same war — against ideologues who murder the innocent to achieve their political objectives. These are just different fronts in the same war.
Amazingly he’s still spouting that crap five and half years later. Iraq had nothing to do with the "war on terror", most experts believe that this is a law-enforcement issue … arresting terrorists before they can perpetrate/incite further acts of violence using intelligence (no laughing now) and the slow, steady methodology of solving a crime and taking out the bosses with methods that American law enforcement has used for decades. But no, he’s again taking the opportunity to conflate the "War on Terror" which has been the mechanism for the nullification if not downright destruction of the Bill of Rights with the events of 9/11 and the organizational horror that is Al-Qaeda. After all, the FBI doesn’t get to drop 500 pound bombs from F/A-18’s onto "terrorist hideouts" which gives Barnacle and the neocons a hard-on every time they watch the HUD (Head-Up Display) videos in the privacy of their offices.
The invasion of Iraq was all about getting his buddies in the oil companies, Cheney’s buddies in Halliburton and some solid campaign contributors like Erik Prince of Blackwater fame, richer and richer. It was about allowing a few idealogues the opportunities to test their pet theories about how to bring Western Anglo-Saxon democracy to the great unwashed masses of brown heathens in the deserts and plains of the Cradle of Civilization.
George Bush celebrates his 62nd birthday, and to him it’s not a significant one, but goddamn it’s funny to him and the press corpse toadies he’s talking to.
There are over 4000 Americans and countless Iraqis who would like to have been able to joke about an insignificant 62nd birthday. Or even the one they’ll never have, their next one.
Because he lies, with every breath, every statement, every fiber of his being he lies about everything. 62 and still lying.

But impeachment is ‘off the table’
Keep Gitmo open, just for this war criminal.
Jane on C-span two right now!!!
Where’s the part where he says how much being in Japan reminds him of the fine gardeners in Amurka?
I had to go back and read his answer again and it still didn’t make any sense. This man cannot think in complete and coherent sentences.
Great post, Jo.
But, it okay that impeachment is off the table, for Senator Obama assures us that Bush will will now obey the law if we will simply legalize everything he wants to do. Per Obama, June 20:
Ain’t that sweet?
Ptooooooie!
Ahhh but for the good old days when we produced smooth liars.
Thanks, Twain. I still haven’t made any sense of that answer. The rest of the presser was as bad or worse
This makes me so mad. I’m thinking of voting for Bob Barr. OMG these people are so craven and corrupt. How are we ever going to fix what is wrong with this country.
Maybe the impending Great Depression Part Deux will get the country to begin paying attention to what is going on.
Do not depair ES, for nuance may yet finesse its way back into disembling …
There is always that to, um, have the audacity to ‘hope’ for, at least.
More and better liars, may we have more, please sir?
And Jo, thanks for showing us more of the ‘real’ George, warts and all, that we may, each of us, treasure him and praise him, as he richly deserves …
;~D
What’s amazing is that the sycophants in the press keep reporting this sh*t and putting a shine on it.
Lipstick on a warthog.
Bush is one year closer to his permanent home, namely the Bush Wing of Hell.
Gotta ton of fresh manure to help decorate the interior of his new place in Austin ratcheer.
An’ Shrub, I want mah Bill o’ Rats back, rat now.
Completely OT, but vaguely hopeful?
‘The recent spate of leaks and reports from Washington about whether Israel will, or should, take military action against Iran, and what that would mean for the US, is a reflection of deep divisions on the matter inside the Bush administration, Israeli diplomatic and defense officials said Sunday.’
“Everyone understands that we could not take action without US approval,” the official said, “both because we would need to fly through airspace controlled by the US, and we would need their help in dealing with repercussions from any attack.” The most direct air route to Iran is through Iraqi airspace, which is controlled by the US.
“We would need their help in carrying out the attack, and also afterward,” the official said.

Me Too! It was really pathetic babble!
OMG, that is so embarrassing. If he wants to speak Bushtalk in America that is one thing. To go to another country and speak like a complete dolt is another. It is a reflection on all of us that we allowed this bonehead to be elected.
What a jack of asses.
Rat on! SD. Rat on!
This is standard operating procedure in the construction of a Republican narrative. Make a blanket assertion and move on. The purpose of the surge was to improve security so that a political settlement could be agreed upon. There are numerous reasons why casualties are down, but almost none of them are directly related to the surge itself. More importantly the surge failed in its raison d’etre. There has been no political settlement. And the surge is ending not because it has been successful but because it could not be sustained. In typical Republican fashion, all this is ignored.
“help in dealing with repercussions from any attack” -
that means Israel would expect us to send troops to
protect them. I vote no on the attack, I vote no on giving them permission and I vote no on help if they are stupid enough to do this.
Uh-oh, DWB has hit the rapture of the shallows state. It only gets weirder from there.
It’s amazing that his handlers permit it.
I cannot imagine how ashamed I would be to be covering this president in Japan, or anywhere else for that matter, but especially Japan. The Japanese must be learning to laugh at us.. otherwise they are (behind closed doors) screaming and buying their way out of being in the company of Bush.
Perhaps they are just content if no Bush vomits on any of them.
An aside, I think part of why Sr. Bush chose VP Quayle is because Q. reminded him so much of his boy. Putting those sentences together is just too hard. At least Q. had to get out of sight after 4 years. WE’re almost there.
Bush could have said;
Ya’ll see here I had a good go in the rape of Miss Iraq although she got a little dusted up in the process but she can pay to fix up, whatever, with all that oil.
And I was eating my supper….
At least George I felt embarrassed.

We must be vigilant to be sure that no Bush ever holds power again.
Rachel’s in for Keith!
Rachel doing Countdown tonight.
Rachel doing Countdown tonight.
She carries the snark nicely, I think.
I would like the movement to diversify into one where we not only try and train our elected representatives to do the right thing, but also to the members of the White House Press Corps and the rest of the media elite. I get incensed watching the news and not one word is mentioned about the FISA fight. The irony of it all is that I suspect I’m being “watched” by someone just for being a progressive activist.
I read a time line in Mother Jones recently about the sub-prime housing crisis. Since then I get irritated watching Andrea Mitchell on NBC, who just happens to live under the same roof as the man who ran the Federal Reserve for years. Am I to believe at no time in her marriage did Mr. Greenspan intimate over breakfast of an upcoming crisis in the mortgage industry? Is Andrea Mitchell only allowed to “report” on the what she wants to and why wouldn’t she want to alert us to mortgage meltdown.
Today I called each of my Senators multiple times and telephoned many others, too. Tomorrow I’d like to tell NBC and the rest of these so-called journalistic enterprises a give them a piece of my mind, also. I’m opening my window right now to shout the Beale squeal.
She’s as bright as they come.
More please.
Shoals?
Mudflats?
Anyways, I stands c’rected on that.
But b’lieve me, once you hit the point where only terms of sublimity will do, there’s no turning back.
Rat!
McCain is now completely speaking to voters as if they are 4 years old….If you can help me find my puppy…I promise to buy you ice cream…just get in the car my little friend, so we can go look for him together…oh yes, my little friend, don’t be afraid of the lady in the back seat with the weird hair…she’s the fairy godmother…she’s here to help us…now come on little friend, get in the car….
Get in the g-damned car!!!
Obama on the tube with a GD flag pin on. Somehow it just doesn’t seem to fit him.
Does Obama have an evil twin?
Obama on the tube with a GD flag pin on. Somehow it just doesn’t seem to fit him.
Think of it as a bullet-proof vest. Those are sartorial spoilers too.
That’s funny. I’m 62 and you want me to grade my own paper? lemme see if I can find it. Oh, here’s an extra party invitation, might as well give it to you, no one else is going to be there…that paper…It was something about terror and war, I mean, national security.
Stranger Danger! Stranger Danger! You are not my daddy!!
ok, folks, commercial. let’s chat.
Olbermann news coming up? Is he married???
Next time lunch is on him…badumbump.
When Bush said he was 62, I wish a reporter would have just barked out, “yeah, what year were you born, sir?” He probably doesn’t do math very well.
One a them thar ‘abandon all audacious hopes, ye who blah, blah,’ kindda thingies?
I git yer drift, but ah bin ass-shored that we’s in dem doldrums an’ tain’t nuthin much happinin’ sorgasso see whuts goin’ on wid dem waves of ethanol, grain, and dem purpole mountin’ majesties what done run dis place inna da groun’
BTW, if’n you dun bin there, how’s it dat ya done gotyer back?
no. he’s going to be doing football coverage with his old buddy—whoever that was.
That reminds me, speaking of the courtiers of the press, has anyone posted this here?
Robert Parry has posted (link in the article) an apparent draft of the chapter of the Iran-Contra report from Congress that was suppressed back in the day in order to get the appearance of “bi-partisan” approval to the report as a whole. I read about the first third of of it today, and it looks as if, combined with the story of how it came to be witheld, it might fill in some gaps or strengthen some hunches about just where our perfumed baronets and viscounts of the keyboards came from.
Not to mention our Congress.
(Note: The copy Parry has posted appears to have been typed in a monospaced elite-like font.)
Ha! It’s always the victim’s fault.
He can’t be considered for the replacement for Russert on MTP, could he?
” In terms of the war on terror, step one is to recognize we’re at war. “Some in our country don’t believe we’re at war. If you don’t believe we’re at war, that this is a simple law enforcement matter, then what you do is you wait until something happens and then react. You know, law enforcement is there is an action, there’s a crime, and then there — law enforcement acts.”
Okay, then when “OBL and crew” attacked us…ummm…we then went after them, and arrested them and brought them to justice…right? Oh…not?
“In war, what you do is you prevent the enemy from hitting in the first place.”
Ummm…9/11 happened on your watch W…you didn’t prevent the enemy from hitting us in the first place….
“That’s why Iraq and Afghanistan are very important theaters in the war on terror. People — some think these are separate wars. It’s the same war —
against ideologues who murder the innocent to achieve their political objectives. These are just different fronts in the same war.”So…hmmm…WTF?
Oh, yeah, for OIL.
More to the point, does he have a good twin?
This is like Bush’s multinational pre-trial questioning for the ICC.
In the Guardian UK
They’ve been listening to W.
Probably doesn’t have a parking permit for the Village Square, which will automatically disqual him.
Chris Cilliza (sp) with a beard!
BTW, if’n you dun bin there, how’s it dat ya done gotyer back?
Don’t get yer hopes up. You don’t know where I’m writing from.
ding.
not quite. Barely fuzz.
It won’t help.
I thought we’d seen that one already. Did the evil twin bump the good twin off after the primaries? Or was the evil twin funnin’ us all along?
But then there wouldn’t be a twin. Dialectic dilemma.
DO you have a link to the Perry/Iran Contra item, por favor?
Thanks, dragon, hadn’t seen that.
Iran-Contra, never adequately nor honestly dealt with, part of the ‘chain’ …
I just so do love ‘bipartisanship’.
Don’t the Democrats look just grand?
Complicit collusion, anyone?
Didn’t McBrain hire Rude-E’s former “campaign” manager today?
If so, can we now expect McBrain to take the next three months off?
Good Evening JoFish and Firedogs -
saw a squiblet about yet another carrier leaving the Gulf and relocating to assist in Afghanistan – anyone else hear that – and how many of the 5 groups there in 10/07 are there now ?
Please it’s not a full-scale emergency until we have Obama starting to use phrases like “empathetic egalitarian”.
Can anyone name one person in America who doesn’t believe we’re at war?
You talkin’ place or state o’ mind?
I ain’t skeered, jus’ a tad innerested …
yeah, me.
Bravo, Jo! Excellent post! Maliki seems to be suffering from the same symptoms of ‘Bubble-itis’…
My daughter’s boyfriend is leaving San Diego on Friday for Afghanistan.
Sure, here’s a direct link to the pdf, which being a set of scanned images might be kind of big and slow to download. Very interesting, though. It really does seem as if we won’t be able to go forward until we finish with I-C.
Hell, the way he’s goin’ I expect him any day now to support making Shrub’s tax cuts permanent.
You mean because it wasn’t officially declared?
We’re at war with the reich wing and neocons (and the Blue Dogs). And the Constitution hangs in the balance.
Give him a hug and best wishes from us.
Pick me! Pick me! oh, does war on the constitution count?
never mind.
Well it would be the bipartisan thing to do, doncha know?
Thanks Twain. They’ve been friends since they were freshmen in high school, just started dating a couple of months ago…daughter is almost 20.
Oh rats Loo Hoo – is he infantry?
Thanks.
Yup.
Correct. The GWOT has been bullshit from the start.
hugs to you and yours Loo Hoo
just could swear I heard the bobblehead (Shuster?) say it was to be the last carrier to leave the Gulf – didn’t sound right
I can’t wait to see him lying in his coffin..
(((daughter and boyfriend))) With what we know about these disasters what could I say to that young man but Stay Safe.
Evening all.
Loo Hoo, all of my best wishes for a speedy and safe return.
Did you see what his staff gave him for his birthday? A little wooden box. Weird.
posted it last week when we were discussing how foolhardy it is to put things to bed in the spirit of bi partisanship – one day after Parry published.
yep – all the usual suspects
A lot of us could dig that, nahant.
;~D
Pandoras? /s
Well, let’s say the latter. You might find other aspects of your perspective becoming a tad … wavy around the edges, not unlike certain watches and clocks. Perhaps you’ll feel as though, having reached the feasible limits of passing or vaulting or getting over something, it’s time to try sliding under, like the Limbo maybe. Or maybe just headlong diving under, as for cover.
I will say this, it makes life unpredictable.
This box:

The Washington Generals of Politics! It’s the only explanation for this crap. The Dems have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory too many times for it to be otherwise!
For his ashes??
This box:
Looks to be about the right size to hold his crayons and his favorite coloring book….
That’s for his coke *snorrrrt* stash. Not bad. *sniff*
Hey, Jo! Could ya send me an email with your ph. #, or call me… I really need to talk to ya…! *g*
That gift box is made of a really old tree that has fallen at the White House. Kinda symbolizes all that has fallen in the Constitution under W in my book.
I was thinking the same thing, until remembered this family buys it by the plane load.
also, excellent interview with parry on the topic of the missing chapter.
and does anyone else get a bit of déjà vu reading this:
my bold.
more than 20 years ago.
Dem symptoms seem familiar somehow …
I reckon as how you diagnosellated it purty damn rat on.
‘Course I do suffer under the tedium of repetitive predictability, ain’t never laked it a whole bunch …
I figure ‘unpredictable’ is good practical practice for da future.
Thanks fur heppin’ me see da light, dragon, ahm much obliged, indeed.
;~D
Well, ya really wouldn’t want more than would fit into a 12 x 18 inch box layin’ around anyhow. Humidity would turn it to mush. Resupply no problem but ya’d hafta clean the box.
We must acknowledge ‘genius, nonplussed, in whatever form it chooses to manifest itself.
I just wish it didn’t affectelate the rest of us.
An old Oak tree planted by Monroe’s daughter, I guess Shrub failed to tie a yellow ribbon around it when he sent the boyz overseas…!
Oh, Selise. Thanks. That’s F**KING classic.
The Republicans are Dr. Evil. The Democrats are Mini-Me.
baggies.
Lee Hamilton. That name says all you need to know.
Lots o’ baggies.
Note to Self:
Hundreds of MD-80’s were pulled out of operation a couple of months ago because of “wiring” maintenance problems.
Today, BO’s chartered “Midwest” airlines plane (are they still in business?)…made an “unscheduled” landing for…ummm…maintenance problems, because the pilot couldn’t keep the nose up…no biggie…nothing to see…
Oh yeah…of course, it was an MD-80.
Barack. Get another frikkin’ plane!!!! Not an MD-80, because if something happens…you know what they’ll say….those MD-80s had problems a few months ago…nothing to see.
Just sayin’!!!!
Lots o’ baggies.
OMG. Can ya imagine bein’ around Georgie while he’s ridin’ a coke buzz?
No matter how stupid BushBoy talks, the Dems just seem to act stupider. Indeed, now in an early rush to snatch defeat. Gooper Grover must be snorting in derision. ‘Bless his heart.’
No thanks.
I heard (NPR I think, my music station does their news so it’s what I usually get) that the evacuation chute deployed while the plane was aloft. Control problems, indeed, though some tough guy from either the manufacturer or the chartering firm claimed the plane was never in jeopardy.
Again OT,
This I knew,
‘Officials have halted recovery efforts in the Philippines for bodies on the partially sunken ship MV Princess of the Stars after it was revealed that the ship’s cargo hull contains ten tons of the highly toxic pesticide endosulfan.’
I didn’t know this;
‘Although the Philippines banned the use of endosulfan in 1993 because of its serious health effects, multi-national food companies Dole and Del Monte have maintained exemptions to the ban and continue to use endosulfan.’
‘Endosulfan is banned in over 20 countries, including those of the European Union.’
‘The manufacturer of this endosulfan is Makhteshim Agan, an Israeli company’
http://www.beyondpesticides.org/dailynewsblog/
actually, and depressingly, there’s a lot more. like the using the same kind of propaganda that had been perfected by the cia in targeting civilian populations abroad – only this time at home. (pentagon generals anyone?).
it’s not just the people who’ve been recycled from iran-contra, it’s much of the game plan as well. including using the dems to do the cover up.
how much different would it be than the way he normally behaves?
No thanks.
hmmm, I gotta pitch that to a professional comedian.
Dana Carvey?
We’ve been coup’d…years ago. Iran Contra part deux is in full swing as we speak…
The Fox is in the frikkin’ henhouse…it already ate all the hens and all the eggs…and Congress is throwing it crumbs…keeping it alive…scared to let it out…and too scared to trap it.
I love your thinking.
What was the Olberman news?
Kirk??!!!
evenin’ selise – thanks for the reminder about the Parry interview – I’d bookmarked it and then it got FISA’d :D
asked a question earlier upthread about carrier movements in the gulf and recall both you and Hugh had a site you were going to for info – have you checked it lately and did it say anything about yet another carrier leaving, repositioning so as to ‘assist’ in Afghanistan ??
Absolutely, it’s getting into that kind of thing, and also the creation of the financing mechanisms and the shadow government elements, combined with the clear role of the Congressional Dems in sheltering these “secrets,” that I think takes this new item beyond what we knew for a fact (though we suspected for sure).
oh goodie – Rove has denied another subpoena.
I wonder if the Sergeant-at-Arms would need a special pass to haul his pasty ass right off of the set at SuxNews?
Remember the rethug congresscritters that Debby Wasserman Schultz was not going to work against in So FL? Well it seems that the dems that DWS was not going to support are gaining on the thugs.
Why does Abrams dance all around Inherent Contempt, without saying it…? Lock up Turd Blossom in the sewer system of the Capitol Dome…!
Sportscasting stuff. I didn’t really follow it, although Rachel said Keith would follow the blue state teams and the other guy (who keith worked with years ago) would cover the red state teams.
Kinda making politics sports-like. Not impressed.
He’s got the “list” and all the “dirt” on Congress. Nothing will happen to Rove.
They’re flying out on planes is my understanding.
Thanks.
Ut Oh – mrbrat just brought today’s mail in the house. Appears that I went a bit bonkers and bought FIFTY (50) red, white & blue – fairly compact in size – bumperstickers from MoveOn:
Bush’s Third Term
M c C A I N
First thirty (30) fdl pups to email me a mailing address I’ll send one right out to ya. npbrat AT gmail DOT com ;~)
Bush still has 21%

The wealthy and delusional. Quite the coalition, eh?
YGM!
you putting the other 20 on *your* car? Leave some space on the windshield, now….
That’s so nice of you! I would email you, but I try not to drive much these days.
Did anybody else get Dodd’s thank you note with a hat tip to the Lake…?
It looks at the moment like it is just the Abraham Lincoln that is in the area. The next closest is the Ronald Reagan off the Philippines.
http://www.gonavy.jp/CVLocation.html
I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. Oh well, another fifteen years of marketing the unitary executive will fix that.
i got this carrier link from hugh:
http://www.gonavy.jp/CVLocation.html
lincoln is in the persian gulf.
other sorta close carrier is the reagan in the western pacific. must have missed one, there should be another…
yup!
Our other war for oil?
From 2003
‘WHILE the United States marshals its forces to attack Iraq, it is also engaged in an equally strategic battle several thousand kilometres away. This calm offensive, as the Nigerian daily The Vanguard (1) calls it, targets oil reserves south of the Sahara and is designed “partly to avoid antagonising its Middle Eastern allies and partly to avoid generating a perception that it cares only about Africa’s resources” (2). According to Walter Kansteiner, US Under-Secretary of State for African affairs, African oil “has become a national strategic interest” (3). Ed Royce, the influential Republican senator for California and chairman of the Congress African sub-committee, maintains “African oil should be treated as a priority for US national security post 9-11″ (4).
‘ The UN Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) estimates Africa’s total oil reserves as 80bn barrels, 8% of the world’s crude reserves (5). According to National Intelligence Council forecasts, the US could be importing as much as 25% of its oil from central Africa by 2015,’
http://mondediplo.com/2003/01/08oil
I think it’s the Enterprise…!
thanks !
why?
Got it. Love Dodd.
Is it really back at Norfolk?
it was.
the uss enterprise is the hardest of all the carriers to track with the google – because one has to remove all the links to star trek. i usually use something like:
uss enterprise -”star trek”
but maybe someone with better google skills has some other alternatives to use?
PW is way upstairs.. Grit had a good diggable post too.
firedogs,
I am obsessing about this carrier issue because I could have sworn I heard Shuster say it was the last in the Gulf and was now departing. like many here, anything about the Gulf and carriers raises the little hairs on the back of my neck.
I’d use this: “USS Enterprise” + “CVN-65″
You can try substituting CVN65, CVN and even Carrier or “Aircraft Carrier” in place of “CVN-65″ too.
misses too many. i’d rather have to go through the extraneous ones. thanks though.
cbl2 – i think the lincoln should be there for about 6 months. i always get worried when the replacement carrier is on it’s way. because until the first one leaves, there are two. so, even if nothing else happens, i expect to be getting worried around sept-nov time frame.
Shuster didn’t used to be a bobblehead. Has he become one?
Bob in HI
That is, after all, the role that The One Party (TOP) assigns to Democrats.
i believe you have hit on the best explanation i’ve yet to see.
“Why should we be using taxpayer dollars to have a person solely in charge of politics in the White House?” Waxman said in an interview.
This was about banning Rove-clones from the WH.
“Why should we be using taxpayer dollars to have Congressmice who allow this Rove to moon them and spit on the Constitution?” via asks in comment section. I was gobsmacked. Henry Waxman wants to prevent future Roves from working their majik in the White House while he lets this one refuse subpoena after subpoena. Excuse me while I check the irony meter. Yup. Hole in my ceiling. Again.
