Al, wow. Saturday Cat Blogging such a natural for you. Eagerly await next Saturday. Thanks for the honorable mention. “Inky’s Last Romp,” such an enticing yet ominious title. A hoot.

This week I was thinking of James Thurber (heard Cavett reading Walter Mitty on NPR). Inky’s story reminded me a bit of Thurber’s The Night The Bed Fell. But less wordy … for this modern-day A.D.D. generation(s).

So from World War 3.0.1 to Saturday Cat Blogging. A gamut of priorities. :) Hope you check back and get this.

No, they just want to complain about the stupid people that buy in a place difficult to protect from forest fires.

The kitten is adorable! Looks like you have a keeper.

Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert today. La Collins says “We Love a Parade,” and that back in the days of yore, hundreds of thousands of people would turn out just to see a couple of political banners. Mr. Herbert finds “Cause for Alarm,” and says symbols of patriotism have replaced the hard work and sacrifice required to keep a great nation great. Gee, ya think? I hope he’s wearing his flag pin…

http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/

The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got a big selection of bagels and cream cheese. I don’t have any kitten name suggestions, but that is a seriously cute kitten. We usually wait until they tell us what their names are. Hoover’s name was self-evident!

What’s on my mind? Hmm! Just that a cafe in Sumatra that I used to spend hours each evening in was a potential target of Jemaah Islamiyah bombers last summer. Apparently they actually had planted several bombs in the cafe but then decided to abort the attacks because it would have killed too many Indonesians and not enough Westerners.

The cafe was the Bedudal Cafe, and was one of the few places in the region that the gay and lesbian, artistic and literary community could feel comfortable in, as well as attracting a smattering of tourists and expats (usually married to local guys). I suppose that was one of their “sins”, that and the fact that they served beer. Frequently local schoolkids would come in and ask to practice their English. Maybe the fact that travellers did that sort of stuff changed their minds. Actually the numbers of Westerners in this place was rarely more than a third of the clientele, and then only a handful.

Really odd that they would go after this place that is hardly on the “tourist trail” anymore.
