The real sign of the corruption and filth of the American right wing is that such sickening garbage as Helms and Tom DeLay get feted and petted and treated like worthies. What do they have to do to be so extreme or disgusting that the Republican party won’t embrace their desire to harm black people, poor people, the environment, the constitution? Drool black bile from their mouths everywhere they go. (But then, of course, the Penguin and Dick Cheney do that and Republicans still think they’re wonderful.)

As the post said, a lot of his style was created to get attention and political support in a Southern state. I suppose we have him, in large part, to thank for the current thread of hatred amongst Republican voters who like to be annoying and mean-spirited just to annoy Democrats.

It really is a shame he died before getting to see the fruits of his decades long work — a black president. Makes ya wonder if he didn’t kill himself just to avoid that…and to annoy Democrats. Bless his black little heart.
