THEN tell us readers what’s up . . .

I’ve NOT been pleased with the direction of FDL, and I’ve NOT seen a MISSION STATEMENT to inform as to why and what the changes have been in the past year, or what is coming for the future.

As a progressive, thinking I’m ON a progressive site, I find that quite infuriating. And it’s one reason I have NOT supported this site for a long time.

Gimme some honest disclosure, tell me the purpose, and I’ll make an informed and honest decision to support, or go away.

But I don’t get that. And I don’t think I should have to SEARCH for it.

An upfront blog would tell me what your goals are.

I appreciate hearing some doom and gloom from someone else but myself. ;-)

I don’t have much hope, anymore . . . . and the worst will overwhelm us all.

I hope for the best . . . but it’s not easy anymore . . . knowing what the worst can be . . .

I’ve liked what I’ve read of yours, here, and in other places.

I’ve only one question, for you.

And for FDL, and for Jane Hamsher.

Where, and HOW, do any of you define Centrist?

Cuz to me, it’s been somewhere right of Attila The Hun for 30 years since The Newt took out the Contact On America.

And I’ve seen NO evidence, that we the people will EVER get back well paying jobs for the middle class (those under $60K), nor that we will ever SEE not HEALTH CARE COVERAGE, but HEALTHCARE!

And we won’t see affordable housing, we won’t see affordable education, we won’t see reforms K-12, much less reforms for college and the access to post undergrad programs . . .

And we won’t see a retraction of our armed forces used to impose hegemony outside our borders.

And we won’t see a stop to the continual drain on the what WAS the middle class and it’s LABOR, to funnel money, resources and power and control upwards to the 1%.

We won’t see any take back of the Executive Presidency.

We won’t see any abolishment on FISA, or general spying on USA citizens.

We won’t see any ACCOUNTABILITY, or PUNISHMENT, for the crimes committed by this admin, it’s henchmen.

We won’t see any efforts to restore the judiciary to a NON CHRISTIAN BASED one. Ditto to the USAF.

We won’t see higher taxes on the 1%.

We won’t see our infrastructure rebuilt.

We won’t see justice and housing for those displaced in NOLA from Katrina.

There’s more, Eli, but, ya get my drift?

And hoss, I didn’t EVEN ask you about phreakin Obama, who’s slipped pst that CENTRIST point FDL keeps espousing, which is REALLY south of the Mason/Dixon line, rutted into the 1920’s when the KLAN RAN FREE, and is further right than Attila The Hun.

Whatcha gonna do bout all that, Eli?

I’d really like to know, given how Obama has sold out the progressive’s, like FDL did, when Kuch and Edwards were IN THE FIGHT!!! And FDL dissed them, like a MSM bought emissary . . .

That’s what I’d like to know . . . sorry to call you out on all that OTHER crap, but it’s the team you joined . . .

And I hold you accountable for your positions, as I do FDL, and Obama.

So far? FAIL. Across the board.

Thanks again to FDL for all you do.

I am inclined to agree with those above– Twain and Laura Doty (hoping for continued good news from you!)– that I would wish for more posts on Afghanistan.

Foreign policy (or the complete bastardization of same) is so intrinsic to our welfare here at home and to the world that I believe that all of the spheres of our influence (both military and non- military) should be exposed and examined, imho. We have such a range of thoughtful folks and guests who are willing to share that I believe this is one of the strengths of FDL.

It’s one of the reasons I came here– the opportunity of participating in conversations that are difficult to find on other blogs.

For instance, Siun’s Sunday nite posts are incredibly important to me and I really relish the fact that people stay with the topic. It’s a forum that actual Iraqis and those that know the people and history (GG) participate in as well.

I would like to see more in that vein.

(I really like the book salons as well.)
