I'm pretty sure the can be no other explanation for this other than the fact that McSame is totally out of his mind.
In an interview with reporters on the back of his campaign bus, the “Straight Talk Express” Monday afternoon, McCain said that even in retrospect he would still have voted to authorize the war, as he did in 2002.
“I think there's no question,” said the Republican's likely presidential nominee.
Yeah, get a clue you two-thirds of America who've concluded the war was a mistake in light of no WMDs, no ties to al-Qaeda, 4100 Americans dead, 29,000 wounded, several hundred thousand Iraqis killed, an emboldened Iran, a resurgent Taliban in Pakistan, Afghanistan collapsing, bin Laden at large, anti-Americanism at an all-time high, and $4.00 gasoline -- all at a price tag of 2 trillion dollars. There's no question it was the right call.
Here's why:
He said that even with that faulty intelligence he felt the war was justified since Saddam Hussein had twice used weapons of mass destruction, broken international sanctions and was “a threat” to the United States.
Silly me. I was under the impression that Saddam was a threat to the United States because he had nukes and evil chemical-spewing drone planes and was BFFs with Osama bin Laden. But apparently, he was a threat to us because he gassed the Kurds and the Iranians in the '80s while Reagan and Bush 41 coddled him.
I feel much better now.

it wasn’t “faulty intelligence”, the inteligence was precise, it was “false data”, it was a deliberate forgery that everyone, including the aministration knew was a forgery
just to clarify
me me me me
damnit
Just keep on talking, McSFB. You’re making our case for us. By November he should be ready for the men in white coats.
They did not just “coddle” him.
They supplied him and helped him.

The only thing stopping these madmen is the fact that our military is dying faster than they can “recruit” more fresh bodies.
Any wonder they are decimated student loan programs so they can get more young people to go the military route?
Indeed, angie.
ugh, “decimating”
sigh
McCain’s continued insistence on pretending to be George W. Bush may be a sign of advancing Alzheimer’s Disease or a side effect from having sold his soul to the Bush family.
OT: via atrios, darcy burner and family escape house fire, home likely a toal loss.
story
Shouldn’t Bush family members serve encourage young Americans to also serve?
McSame had a temper tantrum and blew a casket.
Some nice commenters on HorsesAss. Yuk.
In a contest between McCain’s gut and logical analysis, I’d go with analysis.
He said that even with that faulty intelligence he felt the war was justified.
The fucking intelligence was right on, the rightards twisted it into a pretzel and then lied their asses off.
Yeah, I’m over hearing about what Republicans feel.
Bush’s governing by feel hasn’t been so great, especially since his only feeling has been to do whatever Cheney wants.
yeah.
and I hate that the thugs operate only from self- fulling prophecies.

One of the most under reported consequences of the Darth regime.
These are sinister, cold-hearted people that use human life like Kleenex.
Hussein was a threat to the United States because he mouthed off and taunted us. If we hadn’t kicked his ass, the other countries would have thought we were wimps.
(Ah, the hell with it; no matter how hard I try to parody these clowns, it’s still too close to the truth.)
Before the Bush invaded Iraq Scott Ritter was all over cable news telling anyone who would listen how UNSCOM had destroyed all the weapons in Iraq after the first Gulf War.
But Scott Ritter molests collies or something.
He is the one with faulty intelligence….I am quite sure, or believe, that no more of his medical records will be released. But I conjecture that there are a number of medical experts who could offer a hypothesis about his mental state based on his rage/temper, forgetfulness, PTSD, things in the public domain that should be considered. All we need is a rageful, short tempered, somewhat anmesia impaired hero, superman in charge of our national affairs and armaments.
Scott Simon gave his snarkly opinion of Obama in the public finance flip flop. Why doesn’t he now venture some commentary on the character and sanity of a man who still supports the war, evidence notwithstanding, calls his wife a C***, cannot keep any details straight about the Iraq factions..add to the list. Thanks
Or the prophesy undergoes after-the-fact revision.
I’m saying sorry in advance for what I am about to say.
There is NO comparison between a drug addict who inherited money from her family and even stole medication to a highly educated very intelligent sincere woman who’s lived a life anyone woman would be proud of.
Cindy McInsane should go home and STFU!
Ahem. McSame forget the stone-cold fact that the “WMD” used by Saddam in the past were direct from the USA.
Or how about the fact that the well-known picture of Rumsfeld meeting and shaking Saddam’s hand was immediately after Saddam had used some USA-provided WMD against the Kurds?
OT, but just to show how much bullshit is being tossed about re: oil prices, now comes stories saying even if demand continues to go down in the US, prices won’t come down.
WTF?
All we’ve been fed a steady diet of in the press is “Supply & Demand”, “Supply & Demand” nonstop since prices took off late last year.
Now demand is down significantly, yet prices continue to increase virtually nonstop.
It’s all crap, and Congress needs to get off it’s collective asses and nail these speculators before they finish dragging down the entire US economy all in the name of ‘profits’.
On this one I think I can see the reason (or postulate one): US demand is no longer THE major source of demand on the planet. China and India are major sources (and growing). Even if demand in the US goes down, not so in China and India, both of which have huge space for increasing demand even further.
We just ain’t the end-all, be-all of the world anymore.
I think those stories mostly ignore the value of the dollar part of things. The destruction of the US currency is clearly Bush’s fault yet it is barely mentioned.

an interesting and quick read.
yep.
Ah yes. That too. The dollar simply isn’t looking to increase in value in the near future (if ever). No matter what is done to try and prop up the US economy, the dollar is pretty much on its own. Can’t reduce interest rates any more and cannot increase them. Damned either way.
The dollar continues its slide, China and India continue growing demand…sucks to be in the reality-based world.
My gut says we need a serious national audit.
Hi BT. thanks for the post.
hey, you guys, I’m sorry to bust in here with this, but i’ve been searching FDL for 20 minutes and I can’t believe i can’t find the katymine toll free numbers to the senate. I’m putting together a large 4th of July mailing to everyone I know including God to make FISA phone calls. does anyone have that list at your fingertips???? could you post it right now please????
thanks and again, sorry for the OT.
Amen!!! I was just coming to the comments to make that same point.
I am SO sick of this “faulty intelligence” meme. Dems should start calling it “cooked intelligence” or something else.
And gave him the chemical weapons. If I’m not mistaken, Rumsfeld gift wrapped them
Some of it was flawed, for sure, but framing it that way does let BushCo off the hook.
The numbers can be found in this post that Christy had linked to in her earlier post today.
I certainly get that, but my point is supply & demand has been a bogus argument all along. China & India didn’t increase consumption 60% in the last year, nor has the dollar decreased in value a like amount.
Those are all variables in the mix to be sure, but I feel it’s primarily cover for the hedge funds and sovereign wealth funds that are pouring leveraged money into a market not designed for that purpose.
They’ve already destroyed the housing market, now they’re moving on to the rest of the economy.
Confuses Sudan and Somalia. Oh, well, what the hell, they’re places filled with brown people, who cares…
Confuses Sunni and Shi’a. Oh, well, what the hell, they’re brown people, who cares…
Thank you dakine. I’m so sorry to bother with this. I haven’t gotten to today’s posts yet, I’m getting there,
THANK YOU!
yep– check the timeline I linked to in my #5– those and more!
Let’s not forget all those schools that needed painting!
Too bad they’ve run out of money for the spackle though…

New Jane upstairs on Crooks and FISA
Blue TX: Your headline is just so great. There is the omitted tag line that would say something like because he is so clueless and dumb and hardheaded.
I think what he represents is quite scary along with all this stuff that is being revealed. The world knows we have been torturing and gaming all these people around the world. There is not doubt W has the judgment of a retarded sociopath. He after all laughed at the role of executioner he relished while Gov of TX. We indeed are in dangerous hands. It is altogether possible that McC would/will pursue the same dangerous blunders.
I am not generally “scary”, but we are in a whole new world, I guess. Writing yesterday about Sr Bush calling for impeachment of his son was not just a lark. His may be the only voice in the situation that would be heard. I think he knows what horrors his boy has wrought. Along with Cheney, of course. There is no natural law that the US has to be leader, superpower, etc. We may be well on our way to taking a back seat. I hope that does not sound disloyal. There are times and seasons; ours may be changing.
just came upon this shite from the spinmeisters.

oil, killing, oil, killing
You demonstrate your ignorance of public lands management, not surprising for a person living in the big city. Among other things involved in permitting (as in issuing a permit) a proposed activity on public land, Public land management agencies are required by law to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, and the American Antiquities Act of 1906. This is typically very involved and is always time consuming. The Bush/Cheny regime has essentially mandated that the BLM prioritize gas and oil permitting. Because of budget cuts the BLM (and other land management agencies) have almost impossible workloads, and they would not likely be able to comply with permitting requirements for solar or wind electrical facilities by 2010. So really the moratorium on permitting solar facilities is how Bush forces the BLM to concentrate on the backlog of oil and gas permitting, which has come about as a result of policy decisions by the B/C Regime.
Also, there is plenty of private land on which solar electrical generating facilities could be located, and I suspect there are plenty of landowners who would be willing to lease some of their otherwise unproductive desert land for the purpose.
I watched this hearing on c_span this morning. Very interesting. I especially liked the pannelist from Isreal talking about Isreal’s new legislation to become oil-free. The one item I will mention here was the conversation between Rep Edward Markey of Mass. and the pannel where they simply stated that the US has only 2% of the world’s oil reserves and we use 25% of the world’s oil. No matter how much we drill, we can only access 2% of the world’s oil. It is mathematically impossible for us to drill out of the problem. they offered many great and economically feesable solutions. I recomend watching this hearing.

We should consider the possibility that he promised lyndsay graham (R-Cracker) to always have good prices on rugs and sunglasses for him. These folks are so perverse that superstition dictates action and war crimes mean nothing to them.
