We’ve been having fresh baby lettuces and spinach for a month now (it’s Montana). One bunch of spinach fills an entire bag! Or, local farmer’s market. We have a large Hmong community here – and they have put up ‘community’ greenhouses. We’ve been having fresh baby lettuces and spinach for a month now (it’s Montana). One bunch of spinach fills an entire bag! Yummmm!

Trashing the planet, one spot at a time. I’m old enough to remember when people didn’t really eat fish except tuna casserole on Friday night. I can still get frozen salmon at Trader Joe’s, but my own grocery store can’t get fresh/non-farmed salmon. My fish guy grabbed me a week ago to tell me they’d gotten a delivery of a couple of pounds of non-farmed salmon…….and I bought what I could eat. But, jeez, iceberg lettuce was $1.50 for a small head today. We are in deep doo-doo. And I live in a growing zone. If we can’t get lettuce on the Oxnard Plain, who can?</p> Sad, huh? No one knows what killed them because no one was even paying attention to the fact they were even there.
