McSame, in South Florida yesterday:
McCain was introduced at the ”tele-townhall” by Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, the former Democratic vice presidential nominee well known in South Florida from his frequent appearances in the 2000 campaign. McCain and Lieberman advocated increasing troops in Iraq, while Obama has opposed the war from the start.
”I was right. He was wrong,” McCain said. “We are winning in Iraq.”
And while McSame was bragging about how right he was:
A roadside bomb killed three U.S. soldiers and an interpreter in a region of northern Iraq where U.S. and Iraqi forces are battling al Qaeda, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.
The attack, which brought the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq this week to seven, suggests al Qaeda remains dangerous in the northern province of Nineveh and its capital, Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad.
And so it goes.

“I was right because I advocated bombing, invading and killing people. And that is always right. And if it’s wrong, I don’t want to be right. Have I told you that I was a POW? I really don’t like talking about it, but it goes like this …”
Okay, the jello box in the picture made me spew my coffee. You bastard.
“I was right to plan that bank robbery, because we got away with it! That proves that it was the right thing to do!”
Hey Pups don’t forget to Digg Christy’s fine post. Remember pups thats what helps Firedoglake going:>)
Good morning Christy… A fine post for us to discuss, keep up the great work you do for all us pups and of course those who like to just Lurk and learn from these wonderful posts you give us!
Yes, we have (I believe) Attaturk to thank for that.
This is off topic but I just had to share this email I got from a close friend:
It’s not just roadside bombs. Apparently Iraqi Council members are opening fire on American soldiers too.
Would someone ask McCain if it’s safe enough yet for someone from the Bush family to pretend to serve in the Bush wars? It was safe enough for Prince Harry, but, then, he wasn’t pretending and he’s just British Royalty.
Thanks, BT. What always pisses me off, FAST, is when ANYONE says “we’re winning in Iraq”. Lest anyone forget, Iraq is NOT OURS TO WIN!!! This isn’t NASCAR. We never belonged over there to very begin with. It’s not ours to win, and I continue to fight and object to every single person who frames this discussion in those terms.
We ARE INVADERS.
We ARE OCCUPIERS, and brutal ones. We need to LEAVE! NOW!!! And spend the next however many decades it takes to make reparations, and the rest of time on Earth APOLOGIZING!
Bu$hCo needs to be rotting in jail lest any future leader decides that all out invasion and occupation is “OK”.
period.
Apparently InSane hasn’t gotten around to the GAO report yet. You know the one that says, “The Surge, it’s not going so go well…”
Well Senator McCain, as cursing is also the spice in my stew (a la Carlin) i just want to know what the fuck ‘winning’ is in the whole Iraq thing? It ain’t the democracy thing. it sure as shit ain’t victory because the other side (whatever side that is we’re not supporting today)has not surrendered. So what is ‘winning’? Seriously.
Like, uh, Princess Jenna?
Ed Naha on the Smirking Chimp
Such a great line. Perhaps McCain might want rethink being Bush III.
To be fair, McSame’s son is serving in theater, I believe.
that is a great line
Winning is eliminating all Iraqi occupation resisters, by any means necessary including WP, napalm, depleted uranium…which BTW eliminates US troops at the same time.
But the Pentagon disagrees with the GAO, and we know the Pentagon is always right about everything.
Hey BT. Perfect and awful graphic in one: perfectly awful. kudos.
Question: Does Liarman run the chance of being the only person ever to run for, and lose, veep in 2 different parties?
then we ain’t winning shit
That’s true, but there is not a single Bush. Not one. Even if there is a draft, that entire family will find ways to dodge it.
Who did that photoshop? Hilarious. :)
McCain apparently has not read the GAO report from 2 days ago. What McCain is doing is standard operating procedure for Republicans. He is trying to seize the narrative. It’s just a way to avoid having to prove his own case.
Right, it’s just not clear why McSame is responsible for the Bush kiddos. I do agree they should serve.
Which one? Jenna? That was me.
Thanks, just sent to my husband. Would love to send to my cousin’s wife who sent me a “Barack is a Muslim” FWD a few months ago. But I won’t.
The problem is that no one even mentions that they won’t serve. They all get a pass while their father sacrifices the children of others. The question deserves to be asked since Iraq is Bush’s war of choice and revenge.
send it as a FWD *g*
Apparently the fool McSame hasn’t heard the GAO version of whether we’re winning…that is:

I’ve been right all along.
I doubt the US will ever “leave” Iraq.
Just checked out yours of Jenna. Not so hilarious. But well-done.
Tempting, but she’d just start sending me sh*t again, and I think I finally stopped her when I hit REPLY ALL and blasted her for the “Barack is a Muslim” one. Let’s let those sleeping dogs lie.
Oh, I have no doubt that we’ll leave…as soon as the oil runs out and we’ve stripped that country of everything of any possible value. It’s who we are now.
Morality aside, from the standpoint of realism, there is no way Iraq, if it ultimately reaches the most hopeful possible state of national existence, could justify the cost to the United States in lives, international support, money, and time. Essentially, we won the Iran-Iraq war for Iran and are trying to find a way to get out which will leave some crippled limping entity which must be subservient to its powerful neighbor. Otherwise, we have to stay there.
Yup. We are standing with our finger in the dam.
gotcha. don’t want to re-ignite that.
O/T leahy up talking against the FISA bill
Hooooo-ah!
I think that you are looking at gains for nations. Bush and Cheney are looking at gains for their families and cronies, so for them it’s more than justified.
The only way out of Iraq is to elect someone like Kucinich, Gravel, or…Ron Paul. Obama will be told by advisors that we cannot leave, and he’ll change his rhetoric accordingly…perhaps with a reduction of some sort, but we won’t be leaving…even he’s said that. Other than that, we are there forever in some controlling capacity.
Even Biden said it..he said that the truth is…we’re staying.
Leahy supports the “new authority” in the FISA bill…except for immunity, and he “commends” Hoyer…(excuse me while I puke).
Your tax dollars at work:
Also, btw, a provision in the new FISA bill says taxpayers will pay retail to the telecoms to be spied upon.
Yes, but we need to let McCain explain that.
We can’t really leave, can we? It’s just all fucked up. I just can’t beleive some folks would actually vote for Mccain, who hasn’t voted in the Senate since April 8
just right? not fucking right?
commends Hoyer? For what? i commend him when he had a spine a few months back but all he has earned now is my ire
Also, btw, a provision in the new FISA bill says taxpayers will pay retail to the telecoms to be spied upon.
wow, Steny really is working for the telecoms
I believe the son in the marines WAS serving but is home now (IIRC, Marines serve for six/seven moth tours rather than the 15 months the Army serves). McCain’s other son with Cindy is at the Naval Academy but don’t know what year he’s in.
Grrrrrr…..spit.
For working a deal with so many wonderful improvements to FISA….
We would have to have a completely different MSM to find anyone to even ask McCain difficult questions.
Section 703(c)(5)(D) if applicable, that the Government compensate, at the prevailing rate, such electronic communication service provider for providing such information, facilities, or assistance.
Missed the zed on operation robo steny
You mean we can’t even get a volume discount? That sucks… /snark
ManufacturingPurchasing ConsentWe pay for war in both blood and treasure. IMHO, both McCain and his critics put too much emaphsis on the MacNamara metric, body count.
We are in no danger of running out of cannon fodder and and congressional willingness to expend it. But our opponents’ strategy is not to drain our blood. Bin Laden has stated, and everybody knows that Anmericans love our patterns of consumption far more than they love their neighbors’ sons and daughters. To defeat America in this war, they must put in jeopardy the American economy. To bankrupt America is bin Laden’s objective. That is what this war is about.
And from that perspective, McCain is a rank amateur, focused on tactics and not strategy. And the way to beat McCain is not by disputing how we are doing on the MacNamara metric, but rather on the metric being used by those seeking to destroy us, namely the health of the American economy. This war is a war of economic attrition. And McCain is by his own admission devoid of background on that matter. And that is where he is vulnerable on the issue of terrorism. YMMV.
Jane is upstairs!
Robocalls to Steny Hoyer on Telecom Immunity
I was relieved to find out that the McCain would not introduce the draft unless there were a World War III, although he did seem to think this was a distinct possibility back in 2006.
“prevailing rate” LOL! (see my 53)
Ties in with what I wrote yesterday…. http://www.tagg-theangrygayguy…..-what.html
asshat Kit Bond is up telling us that the other senators that tell the american folks that FISA violates privacy rights is not true not true at all.
we have to protect the security gaps (they could appear again if we don’t send the bill to the prez) freakin liar
How long can we afford the $12 billion per month that it’s costing to stay? That $12 billion up front. It’s five times that much when interest costs and long-term care for the wounded etc. get added.
I think the majority of the public already understands that the war wasn’t worth it. McCain keeps saying that the surge made it worthwhile. Obama can reply by asking McCain to explain to the public if the surge will leave result in an independent, self-reliant, country which is not enimical to the interests of the United States. McCain could not win an extended back and forth because most of the public already knows there is no good answer to Iraq.
bad link, sorry. http://www.tagg-theangrygayguy…..-what.html
*sigh* why do dems have this national security fear? they are so damned worried that they will appear weak on terrah, they cower on this shit.
We can’t even talk about the health of the American economy when the Republics only position is that tax cuts fix all problems.
Gotta go run and impersonate a basketball player. Later.
Thanks, Tagg.
Remember – just one of those per day.
Thanks.
I used to jokingly comment that Osama Bin Laden could have been a more existential threat to the U.S. if he found millions of fanatical Muslims willing to provide goods and services for ten cents an hour.
Wicked!
Ok, now that’s good. I really really hope those straps hurt.
Too bad the Repubics are such crooks, because they are smarter than the Dem crooks.
they have had more practice of late
Jane Harmon sucks too (just had to get that out) but Rohrbach is my critter (he sucks worse)
Yeah, but Rohrbach has an excuse for being odious – he’s simply not a well man.
never an excuse to be THAT odious. but I at least expect him to be an asshat
I have to empathize. My critter is Jackie Speier.
my heartfelt condolences
