Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Kristof, Friedman and Rich today. MoDo gives us “The Carla Effect,” and says if an American would-be first lady described herself as a “tamer of men,” it would take more than an appearance on “The View” to sweeten her image. Mr. Kristof writes about “The Two Israels,” and says even if the Jewish settlement in Hebron, in the West Bank, were not illegal in the eyes of much of the world, the financial and diplomatic costs are mind-boggling. Mr. Friedman’s column is titled “Mr. Bush, Lead or Leave,” and he says it is hard to find the words to express what a fraudulent, pathetic excuse for an energy policy President Bush’s new plan is. Mr. Rich suggests that “Now That We’ve ‘Won’ Let’s Come Home.” He says perhaps if there were a draft, there would be 1968-ish turmoil now, but in 2008, the Vietnam analogy doesn’t hold. The center does.
