Wow Suz. Haven’t heard this one in a while. I saw these guys live just before Hutchence committed suicide. I was sad at that, because it was SUCH a good show in what was Pine Knob over in Pontiac, MI. They were the headlines of that day long musicfest. At least 7 bands, all of them known from the 80s or onwards in 1997. Even got to see Echo and the Bunnymen. :D

Is the tech crisis fully resolved? For the past 20 or 30 minutes I have been experiencing ssssllllooooowwwww ttttooooooooooooooobbbbbzzzzzz, had to clear cache and restart, that took several minutes and I missed the opening of Late Late Nite and unfortunately was unable to fight off the z-worders. Is it me or is it my puter or is it the site? hard to say.

Well, i didn’t have to be around when they went through wedding planning hell. I just heard about it though. *grin* He’s generally one of the smarter of the cousins and a professional photographer with an amazing eye for a shot. I think that’s part of why he’s became groomzilla. His fiance works in medical, so she’s of a different type of mindset entirely. The Groomzilla’s always been one of my favorite younger cousins, and i remember him fondly as the tiny guy for soooo long. Until he shot up and now has a solid foot of height on little me.

Family, especially big boisterous ones like mine? Garunteed(sp?)to be nutty but egads we have a lot of fun. Considering i’m not frowned upon for being the girlgeek by either side? Um yeah. Crazy, but not stupid. :D

Paris plans help-yourself green car hire

The Socialist mayor, Bertrand Delanoë, announced yesterday that from the end of next year, 4,000 electric cars will be placed around Paris and its outskirts for drivers in the scheme to help themselves for short journeys. It is the first electric car project of its kind in a capital city.

“This could revolutionise transport,” Delanoë told French radio. He has doubled the projected cars from 2,000 to 4,000 and expanded the target area beyond Paris’s ring road. […]
“There will be a computerised system which allows you as soon as you collect the car to announce where you’ll drop it off, so there will be a parking space available,” Delanoë said.

It would operate similar to the Vélib’ bike scheme. Users would either take out an annual subscription or be able to approach a hire-point on the spur of the moment or perhaps pay by using their public transport pass, equivalent to London’s Oyster card. Electric car-recharging points would be scattered across the city.

One target group is young couples with children who occasionally need a car to shop or travel but cannot afford to run their own. The mayor described it as “a system of individual journeys that are completely clean”.

Once upon a time, I participated in such an experiment, and it was great. These were Hondas of a boxy design. All I needed was a proximity card.

It was wierd to walk up to a car, wave a card, have it unlock the doors, and there be no key. You don’t turn an electric car on!

You simply release the parking brake, and push on this pedal. There is no noise initially and then a bit of gear whine.

But, when you stop, there is no noise.

This makes for an entirely different sensation in stop-and-go traffic. Normally, I get anxious when I’m stopped and idling. But not in this car.

Also, this thing would come off a stop light very fast; nobody beat me across the intersection.

That first one is a no-go, nahant.

In a lot of ways, yes. The Model T was a good design – way ahead of its contemporaries. But things did get better – the cars got faster, safer, and quieter, and they eventually got better mileage.

Well I think I am all caught up on the FISA atrocities of the last day or so. All I have to say is THANK GOD I procrastinated on sending Obama the money I have been planning to send.

Sen Obama is going to get an early morning phone call explaining why my money is going to the ACLU instead.

It feels like Obama is freaking daring me to vote for Ralph Nader. And I have been pretty vocal about telling Nader to chill out and take a friggin vacation.
