And I ALMOST feel sorry for poor hanger-on Jimmy/Jeff, used unwittingly by forces he doesn’t appear to understand, for purposes he doesn’t appear to understand, because he’s both unable to understand and compromised.

Emphasis on ALMOST.

Doomed to be a D-lister for ever, he’s lucky he’s ever been mentioned on Jane’s blog. Defamation would be a lucky PR break for him. One can only wonder what he’ll be doing in 10 years — if they’re that bored and in need of entertainment.
