Three Obama supporters volunteered to deliver our petition with over 11,500 signatures to the Press Club, asking them not to allow Larry Sinclair to appear there.
If you’d like to sign the petition too, you can do it here.

Jus Cogens!
When is Larry Sinclair scheduled at the Press Club? Hopefully he’ll be cancelled. This is just beyond wild.
Cool, over 11,000! I was wondering how many signatures the petition got.
I called them yesterday and was told that he isn’t a headline speaker, he’s only participating in some presentation. To which I told them THAT DOESN’T MATTER. He shouldn’t be allowed in the door for ANY reason!
I like how that droid who took the signatures said “we don’t censor any speakers”…if the press corpse did their jobs and had any self-respect none of them would show up to hear Sinclair in the first place, and would be the ones putting it to Mr. Tall Droid to not allow him in the door.
But our servile press corpse? Nah, not so much with the actual work… unless it involves standing in Beirut/Baghdad/Kabul with a flak jacket and trench coat reading a promo for their network.
So, who would the Press Club deny? Why is the clubs ethics policy so vague and inaccessible?
(((Quaker girl)))

hope everyone is doing well.
Update – the ‘event’ has been moved to the larger Holeman Room (nope, can’t make this s* up!) capacity of 110 vs 40 in original site
he also hints at a “surprise guest” to provide moral support
Jeff Gannon?
I want to know how Jeff Gannon got a blog on the National Press Club site! That is simply disgusting.
Of course not — they just make sure that they invite more cons than libs, is all.
Does anyone here think that James Hatfield, the late author of Fortunate Son, would ever have been invited to the National Press Club to promote a book many saw as slandering George W. Bush? Of course not. Yet the NPC has no problem rolling out the red carpet to someone whose credibility issues loom far larger in comparison.
That was my guess. Maybe Larry Craig?
The same way that Mr sinclair has a speaking engagement, stylized morals.
and what if it’s Larry Johnson ?
Yeah, and it’s also quite telling. The NPC never invited James Hatfield to speak, and his account of Bush’s early years has far fewer credibility issues than does Larry Sinclair’s nonsense.
btw, believe one of the Pudlitico twits will be there to cover
Gannon, Craig and Foley-The Three Mouthketeers.
The Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Finance and Agriculture hearing:
http://appropriations.senate.gov/index.cfm
is talking about speculation in commodities markets especially crude oil. The Republicans are mostly acting like tools. Both Durbin and Dorgan have been good. The Acting head of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission “the government watchdog” Walter Lukken is an idiot. He just now was saying he was putting out a call for information about traders in the markets. This is a joke. I started noticing excessive speculation back in August of 2007 and this was after I ran out of all other mechanisms to explain price changes so this kind of speculation could have begun a month or two earlier. In any case, it has been nearly a year and this asshat is only now beginning to put out a call for info. Durbin got Lukken to admit that he doesn’t know how much trading is going on. Dorgan read him excerpts from Lukken’s own statements about how there doesn’t seem to be any excessive speculation in the markets. This raises the question why we have a CFTC. We have a tidal wave of speculation and our expert organization can’t see it although it is enormous and has been around for nearly a year.
What!!!?!?!?!? And I thought I was making a funny.

For a treat go to #33 on this thread
Just signed the petition:
Stop the lies. Do not be co-dependent and enable the republicans in their quest to trash both Obama and this country. Have you no decency sirs?
Maybe his old friends from La Eme? I wonder if anyone will ask him about his coke mule days, and the warrant out for his arrest.
Tomorrow I think.
it’s one of the revolving ads appearing just above the toolbox
Probably Jerome Corsi, who needs to get his name back into the (wingnut) news. You can’t do an effective job of swiftboating the Democratic Presidential Candidate without sufficient notoriety.
Why do hate fags? /s
Or do you hate deceitful, self serving liars? No /s
Me too.
(Hi Mare!)
Funny how ya never hear from any of the guys that were real Swift boat vets and got hoodwinked into that crap.
Those three young men were pretty sharp as well as polite.
I loved how the bell rang when the first young man followed up on the ethics question! I think a press ethics angel got its wings!
I kinda like Larry.
He stood up against the admin for Valerie Plame and speaks out against a lot of the evils of the administration on other subjects.
i was under the impression that that not seeing it is part of the job description.
… has Mark Cooper testified yet? he was pretty good this morning on washington journal, at from the bit at the end that i saw.
Boy, this isn’t about controversial views and opinion, it’s about stopping people from presenting falsehoods as fact. I think we can all get behind that. I even think there are laws about it, if that matters anymore.
Oh oh oh! Look what happens two hours after Larry’s press conference!
11,000+ signatures isn’t bad but slightly OT Tom Hartman is reporting that Newt Gingrich has been collecting signatures to allow the oil companies to expand their drilling to ease the “energy crisis.” Has over 1,000,000 signatures that the Republicans are going to beat like a dead horse to try and frame the energy debate.
They censor “9-11 Truthers”.
John Kerry was a war hero who was painted as a traitor. There are rumors that McCain folded and I missed what he did to gain his hero status. IMO Obama is prepared for the negative, scary ads but we have to be ready too. We need to watch his back. John McCain can call his wife a c*t in a public situation and the news media doesn’t report but instead talks about Rev. Wright nonstop.
Hi SD. Saw the wedding pic. Very handsome.
So, why do you think we haven’t heard from those guys?
kinda liked him too, recalling the Plame panel at first YKos – but he may have gone too far in recent weeks – we shall see
How do you do it? I’m retching practically every day at the fresh abuses coming to light.
I’m sure that Newt will explain that we won’t have the oil for years and mostly since it becomes part of the big pot, very little will help the American people.
I had pushed him to the farthest recesses of my mind but that is also a possibility. Since the theme is going to be, Veracity: Who Needs It? He could give a talk on the Michelle Obama
‘whitey’‘chalky’ tape.On a related yucky republican yuckiness, check out the button being sold at the Texas Rebulican Convention. Makes me porud to be an amuriklan.
Short Beaver: I did my job but my superiors misused it.
Oh? Really? Have they grown a pair, or what?
Is it possible that the phone calls made by FDL’rs and the petition actually shook some heart cells loose?
(I signed that petition the day Jane put in up, but if you haven’t signed, please do so. It’ll feel good.)
Speaking for myself, I’d be so embarrassed I’d go hide in a cave somewhere had I been that gullible. I knew some of those guys, having ridden some of the boats on various operations. I knew LCDR Elliott very well and never thought he would have involved himself with anything that dishonourable. He had to have known it was a bunch of shit.
Not bad for an old hippie, eh?
recent weeks? More like months. this primary must have brought out his true colors because he has tread far from his Plame days. His site makes my stomach turn. Pure racist (yeah, I called him a racist).
Hey! Let’s sanction Iranian oil exports too!
Let’s play Twister with foreign policy and energy needs!
Let’s play Slip and Slide and Mr. Wiggle with our natural treasures!
Let’s play Follow the Newt!
jeebus, thanks for that link – am headed over to the Statesman with it now
(((SD))) how are you?
Hey, even some people here have gone a little too far over the edge in the last several weeks, don’t you agree? Tough times. Lottsa stress, but if it’s okay for one, it should be also tolerated by the others. Still, I’m not going to call the firing squad out.
I be fine. See the pic? Weebits comin’ along all right?
am trying to be diplomatic and open minded about him :D
We all know it’s not about the people, it’s about giving the corporations what they want and a sizeable number of the American public at large hasn’t figured that out.
your welcome. Here is the original source of the story (posted saturday)
It’s just Whitehouse.com fighting back, with the truth.
what pic?
Weebits is doing fine. I already need to take more pics because she is bigger and just has the MOST aDORABLE face evah!!!! *g*
OK, I’m not going to quote it here, but Larry S. succeeds in getting his smears into the description of his appearance at NPC. Awful. Also alleges that he has received death threats.
There was this from the NYT:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06…..on.html?hp
Seriously, could anything be more stupid than this? If we take out the two biggest sources of inflation, the inflation rate looks good. This is a little like saying that if we forget about the national debt, the country’s financial situation looks solid as a rock.
Scroll back up to my #23.
nevermind (scroll and read are my friends)
The second panel is just up and Cooper just gave his statement.
True colors? Brought out by the primaries? I think harsh times can bring out either our harshest feelings, or challenge a more compassionate side of our souls.
Did you read some of the comments here last Friday with the Russert news?
My stomach was doing some serious jumping and I have to admit, I did some soul searching about being part of a team that has the potential to go that dark hearted. You see, I’m still here.
And, I say you can call anyone any name you want. I just wanted to share my feelings, too.
very nice (and the bride too *g*).
Sorry, Demi but he posted over at the Orange overlord’s place before being banned for his rather immflammatory and racist posts. Primaries don’t make you a racist. It would have to be (or at least the tendency/mindset) had to talrready be present.
I stand by my statement. He did great work on the Plame affair but he is a racist and pretty damn rotten (this from someone who tries to find the good in everyone)
Didn’t think you were hauling out the guns.
I happen to like diplomatic and open-minded.
The russert comments I did not read but people are going to say what they want (we have no control over it) but for someone who is a supposed democrat to spew the lies and nastiness that Mr. johnson has is not conducive any favorable comment by yours truly
I’m not hauling out guns. Please don’t take this personally, Demi.
There are a lot of people whose true colours are going to come out in the next five months. Hang on to yer hats cuz this is gonna be a wild ride.
No need to apologize.
We’re adults. We all have the right to our own opinions.
Thank God we do, I’d hate to be told what the truth actually is, like, from fundamentalist. :)
My dear departed mother in law used to say Wouldn’t it be a boring world, if we were all the same?
It would be mind numbingly boring. as exciting as a McCain rally
Hey, I didn’t have sex with John McCain, but I did see him kick the shit out of his dog. (This was shortly after he called his wife a “_unt”.)
Do you think the National Press Club will let me “rent a room” to get this story out to the nation, seeing how the mainstream press, obviously in love with John McCain, refuses to cover it!
I know *sigh* Personally i think they will drop the n-word by the end of summer
thanks. can’t listen now, but am recording for later….
Yup. I think as long as people let go of their egos, once in a while, and tune in to their hearts and use their heads more than their assholes, that we’ll all be okay.
We’re old hippies, right? We’ve been through A Lot! And, we’re still here.
fyi – WhiteHouse.com is believed to be owned by Dan Parisi “one-time internet pornographer” who apparently back in February challenged Sinclair to the polygraph and offered $100K if he passes – the freepers are going crazy with it because Parisi is gonna use a “known fraud” as the polygrapher -lol
Russert was up to his neck in the Plame Affair, but never revealed that to his audience. For his part in the Plame affair, he helped to subvert democracy. The effusive praise from Olbermann bottles the mind. (When your thoughts get all bottled up!)
A little late for the freepers to be going crazy over it. Larry already flunked the polygraph, months ago.
Last night Keith Olbermann made the National Press Club one of it’s worst people in the because of Sinclair’s upcoming appearance.
The second panel was over and done with quickly because of time constraints: opening statements a few questions and the hearing was adjourned.
yep. and I should have qualified the comment by stating it I found it on the same page making the claim David Axelrod paid $750K to Whitehouse.com to keep the whole thing under wraps doncha know :D
however, sometime our “good friends” can prove handy – half the fact based bad news out there about McStain has come from them
possibly not wanting to judge the man’s whole body of work based on his involvement in the Plame affair. or maybe he didn’t want to speak ill of the dead. dunno
I’d heard about that claim. They have no evidence, other than Larry the Coke Mule’s insistence on it.
Signed!
Sorry I missed this one earlier!
I put this up on Cliff’s post earlier but wanted everybody to see it.
As of today icasualties.org shows 4101 US military personnel KIA Irak.
We’re over 4100. And McShitForBrains supports the troops.
meu deus
disgraceful.
. . .they prolly have pics of David Axelrod seen leaving the grassy knoll
Excuse the cynicism but there is nothing like death to refurbish one’s reputation. Russert was one of the most important players in the media’s corps of tools, shills, propagandists, sycophants, mouthpieces, and enablers who made successful absurdly high paying careers for themselves regurgitating White House talking points and memes. It is only in death he became a newsman.
Action plans:
1. picket signs
2. contacts to all NPC members asking them to denounce and reject the NPC and it’s furtherance of slander/libel.
Surely someone will assemble a video montage of Russert’s body of work. Lots of Gotcha for Democrats and liberals, Kidd gloves for Lieberman, Republicans and warmongers.
Everyman Russert’s kid on Countdown. “Dad used to fly wings in from Buffalo for football tailgate parties b/c he said you couldn’t get a good wing in Boston.”
O/T New York times has an article up today comparing McCain and Bush. The results? McCain ain’t so maverickilicious.
I’m sure someone has or will do so (as you say). I’m just saying that the motive may well be not wanting to speak ill of the dead (just do it under the breath) Happens quite a bit in my family

oops fprgpt to include the related article
a lil tidbit from the article:
good would serve KBR right
Nice Iraqi operation ya got here, be a shame if something happened to it
James Risen/NYT Front Page
oh nice. now we are being threatened by these asshats? unbelievable!
Look at it this way. If we quit paying KBR the troops will have no logistical support so will have to leave Irak. Sounds good to me.
This is priceless! Daily Kos is reporting that the HJC is close to a compromise on Rove’s testimony. It’s a sell out by the Dems that would allow Rove to testify behind closed doors with no transcript and NO oath. This is disgusting!!!
http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..825/537178
If Larry Sinclair tried to take out a full page ad in the Times or WaPo, they would reject it. The NPC’s passivity, “he rented the room and we’re helpless to do anything about it” meme is bogus.
Especially this year, with all of the ugly rumors about Obama swirling around, the Press Club should be about standing up for the truth, instead of abetting a know fraud and convicted felon.
One wonders what the NPC’s reaction would be if a woman tried to rent the Peter Lisagor Room, in order to claim that she had John McCain’s love child. Something tells me, they wouldn’t allow it.
