McSame is giving a speech on energy kissing Big Oil's ass in Houston today with proposals that sound oddly familiar:
As McCain revealed Monday, his speech today includes a proposal to end a federal ban on offshore drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico and much of the the oceanic coasts, giving states the option to approve oil production within their waters.
Haven't I heard that somewhere before?
The Bush administration has unveiled plans to extend drilling for oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico as part of its controversial energy policy...President George W Bush has long argued that the US needs to drill for more oil and gas, including in its coastal waters, to make it less dependent on foreign energy suppliers.
Same old, same old.
And this is yet another flip-flop for McSame, who when he was running against Bush, derided calls for offshore drilling as being driven by "special interests in Washington."
He looks more and more like Bush all the time. Any day now, I expect to see him clearing brush on his "ranch."

Thanks Blue Texan
digg
Yo Blue Texan. Thanks for the post.
Bye-bye Florida, and bye-bye any longshot at California, c*ntcaller.
Oil derricks off Miami Beach and the Santa Monica Pier are such an attractive prospect, and they will lower the cost of gas immediately!
Then there’s this gem:
Sounds like Charlie Crist is, um, in the closet over coastal oil drilling.
Obama’s messages go viral on the toobz. McCain’s go fungal:
“say mold, say mold”
Nice post, BT — but it’s “Cindy’s ranch.”
Now thats a moldy but ghouldy.
Here is a technological breakthrough that uses single cell bacteria to create oil by digesting waste products;
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/t.....133668.ece
H/T to C&L for the link.
It’s not ready for mass production but it has been proven to work.
I guess McCain really wants to lose Florida, huh?
I would be surprised if he caved on that (Crist) the backlash would be deafening
Nah– he’ll be sittin’ on the porch with Bush and Lott watching brown people clearing the brush…
create oil by digesting waste products;
Waste products like McBatshit’s policies?
EPU’d from downstairs. NYT has an article up comparing bush and McCain. They also did a graphic summary of policy positions (bush vs McCain)
Exactly.
Bush has an energy policy?
LOL!
McSame really is Bush Lite.
One of my best signs yet:
http://freewayblogger.blogspot.....rming.html
may still even be up…
excellent - right in my back yard.
Bravo!
(((applause)))
(btw, listening to the Armed Services Cmte is making me ill– in our name, indeed.)
very nice
Good Afternoon Blue Texan and Firedogs,
flip-floppery -
here comes the obligatory “inexperienced, younger staff members” who failed to remind him of his 2000 stance -lol
ooh - a bonus dogwhistle on states rights in today’s,um, speech
Rear Admiral Dalton cannot recall, is not aware, etc.
Lurita Doanagain.
Abu Gonzalez syndrome.
Rear Admiral Dalton cannot recall, is not aware, etc.
they reak, all
Are McShitForBrain’s appearances livestreamed?
Rethugs just can’t figure out all the toobz and wirez making up the intertoobz.
Watching a clip of McSFB against a clip of Obama is like day and night. Energized, pumped, speaking without notes versus deadpan eulogizing.
Obama = life
McSFB = death
He just doesn’t care how transparent his pandering is, does he?
Bush is really done with the Brush Ranch. He doesn’t need to pretend to be Reagan anymore. McCain does, however, and not just by being old. McCain should buy the Brush Ranch…actually Mrs. McCain will be doing the purchasing, but who notices that St. McCain is a kept-man anyway?
yesterday, he went all Lois Griffin proclaiming Obama “has 9/10 mindset”
deadpan eulogizing
“that’s…… not…….change……we…can ..believe..in…..” (deploy sh*t-eating rictus grin)
oh and then that Marxist sheik brought out Richard Clarke for rebuttal - lmao
oh for corn’s sake. Here we go…terrah, terrah
Is it time for Bush’s crony Osama bin Laden to make his appearance yet?
maybe a bit too early for that but at least we should be hearing about more tapes soon and then a few terrah alerts
do you have a link? I wouldlove to read/hear it
Maybe we can tell Florida and California voters that we can build cars that get better MPG instead.
http://www.aptera.com/
Or they can watch the real estate values at their beach houses really drop in value the first time a super tanker crashes on their beach.
Sure Alaska might be first if Bush has anything to say about it but Florida and California will be next.
After all those rumors of China slant drilling off Cuba’s coast were spread for a reason, to justify drilling off of Florida before the Commies do!
On the other hand I’m sure immigrants will love all the cheap homes that will come on the market after the first oil spill. I hope nobody bought a home as an investment.
Clarke Rebuttal
Don’t worry, tomorrow Mr. Green Jeans McCain will show up and tell us he was just joking…heh heh.

speaking of manly men -
hey Blue Texan - am guessing you have seen
Big Bad John already. man oh man - how much did the Noriega campaign pay for this ?!?!?
thanks cbl2 and angie
Toyota licensed their hybrid tech to Ford why don’t we get GM to license it too? Then we make every car sold in America a full hybrid, or a diesel truck (diesel’s have much more pulling power).
Do you know the parts saving that we can get from standardization limiting choice? That savings could help the auto makers change over their factories to hybrid factories well that and government subsidies.
We do not need any foreign gas guzzlers to be sold in this country!
Here’s more from the wapoo
http://blog.washingtonpost.com.....id=topnews
We do need to be prepared to deal with this, though; it’s one of their more effective angles. I was working the Democratic booth at our county fair, and even some people who were generally sympathetic to our side and agreed that we need alternative energy in the long run found the argument that coastal drilling could get us off foreign oil persuasive.
People who are getting screwed by gas prices don’t necessarily accept the view that this is pandering to the oil companies; we need a better response for why it’s so wrong. (Or at least I need one; I was kind of floundering.)
yeah, so? Congressional Democrats are giving Bush just what he asked for, again:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/200.....funding_dc
perhaps someone at FDL is working up a post about this latest capitulation.
$165 Billion could help out a bit here in America, don’t you think?
but maybe some talkin points have come out from (D) headquarters, suggesting that the leading Progressive blogs play this down a bit, try to slip it past, don’t create cognitive dissonance, just keep the focus on cranky old McCain.
I was reading this comic the other day and thought of you while reading the craphound chapter.
Nothing personal, just struck me as funny :)
Is anyone keeping a running tally on all of McCain’s jokes, Senior Moments, Confusion?
I mean we have been at war for several years but the GOP Presidential Candidate can’t tell the difference between Shia and Sunni?
I’m guessing that McCain has never read any of the classified intel, or a Newspaper!
…but maybe he watches Fox News?
There is not enough oil off the coast to get us off of foreign oil.
from your link, the GOP blooger Ben Smith:
McCain’s staff is currently pressing the point on a conference call with reporters, and Goldfarb writes:
Obama wants to take us back to the bad old days of going after terrorists with prosecutors rather than predators.
“predators”? WTH?
And he even has the gall to blame the Bush administration’s methods as having been a boon to terrorist recruitment.
Methods like torture, lawless kidnapping?
With all the international credibility the Clinton administration earned, and the international terrorists they incapacitated,
I’m surprised he didn’t also reach back to Carter as well. I’m not a Clinton fan either, so just because Clinton started it, doesn’t mean putting the program on steroids was a good move.
one wonders how bin Laden even recruited 19 men to attack this country on September 11.
From our friends the Saudis, they’ve always been good to us.
So 9/11 terra terra, Constitution is crap, Clinton started it, whitewash Bush’s “methods”. Did I miss anything?
The Constitution and Geneva conventions are what we can hold up as evidence of our civilization. God, I hate these testosterone driven idiots.
classy.
But yes we do need to present better answers and have links ready cause we know that our MSM talking heads do like to fold when ever the GOP talks about business reality:(
He start out watching Fox, but probably quickly dozes off and drools on himself before he waks up startled and swearing.
You can go to cafepress.com and find classy and disgusting. They carry it all.
I like Middle Aged White Guy for Obama. :}
For most of the MSM, it’s better to fold than to risk being put on the do-not-hire list at Fox.
Off of california, there is enough oil to supply the counrty a little over a year and 15 years just for the state of california alone.
someone needs to clue them in that oil –> dinosaurs/ fossils and last I checked dinosaurs/fossils –> ain’t no more being made
While I’m ranting, I’d like to again point out that BUSH DID NOT KEEP US SAFE! His incompetence/evil plan allowed 9/11 to happen in order to claim extra super duper powers.
200 years of Constitutional Rule. Why do goopers want to throw that away. It’s what makes us great! Any old country can gin up an army to shoot people at will.
It’s the Constitution, baby. Read it, live it, love it.
And yeah, I’d like it to come back 1.20.09
I personally liked the anit immigrant pin:
Push 1 for English
Push 2 for Deportation.
well said.
Raise the average MPG for cars to 40 MPG and I’m pretty sure we will save more gas than drilling off shore will get us.
Sorry I don’t know offhand the total number of cars in America their MPG and how much oil is claimed to be off shore.
The GOP has a tendency to lie about how big oil deposits are, tax savings, cost of wars.
I hesitate to use their numbers.
Do you have numbers for Alaska and Florida preferably not any numbers McCain quotes in his speeches, or AP numbers so we can link.
Daily Kos is reporting that the HJC is close to a compromise on Rove’s testimony. It’s a sell out by the Dems that would allow Rove to testify behind closed doors with no transcript and on oath. This is disgusting!!!
http://www.dailykos.com/story/.....825/537178
here is a some link regarding how much oil would be pulled from drilling off the Cali coast
with friends like that who needs enemies.
That should be NO oath.
I’ll look for you
Predators
Mean and stupid just like all conservative humor, I wonder if to be a Lefty you need a working humor center in the brain. Was humor and empathy the last things to evolve in man?
that would be the bad ol days when guys like Fitz convicted them all ?!?!?
Great figures the election is coming and the Democrats start folding again. Harry and Nancy Must go!
Thank You!
enough al f’in ready!!!
okay, you get to drill offshore - now what about that long dead horse y’all been floggin’ about how the poor extractionists can’t build anymore refineries because of the prohibitive costs of environmental regulations -
now which is it assholes ?!!??
Has anyone told McSame that it takes years to build refineries? Longer than he’d be in office?
Also, and I’m sure he’s clueless on this, a lot of oil in CA is high-sulfur (’sour’).
Here’s a reliable source (600Kb PDF, loads slowly). There are tables showing production, including one by county for the offshore stuff (mostly off Orange County; nothing much north of Monterey). The production has been declining slowly and steadily for years.
At this morning’s Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee Hearing on Transmission of Renewable Electricity, T. Boone Pickens disagreed with the USGS estimate of 86 billion bbls of oil off the east and west coasts of the country. He also said he doesn’t think we have anywhere near the estimate of 16 bbls in ANWR.
CSPAN has it up, scroll down to Recent Programs.
Pickens gives his opening statement at about 15 minutes, 54 seconds, Q&A starts around 45 minutes, 40 seconds.
The above statements from Pickens are at 1 hour, 19 minutes.
oops… 16 billion bbls in ANWR
ALASKA
per the USGS 10.4 billion barrels (estimated recoverable oil) lots of interesting info there.
Annual Energy Outlook 2006 with Projections to 2030 on development and production in ANWAR (it isn’t as much as the republicans tauted — and about overall oil production.
2007 report available as well.

i’ll see what else I can find and post
a lil more
per TPM:
DCCC Chairman and Congressman Chris Van Hollen discusses and smacks down republican talking points drilling in ANWAR and gasoline prices w/ Wolf Blizter . Transcript of Blitzer/Van Hollen debate/smacldown here
One thing that generally isn’t brought up in connection to the 1969 oil spill:
The Channel floor leaks oil. Constantly. If you walk on the beach, you have to clean it off your feet (or your footwear).
What happened in 1969 was a blowout, and I heard back then, from a reasonably-reliable source, that they were running without the blowout-prevention hardware that was in general use in the Gulf of Mexico.
(What I remember also is the joke about getting the Royal Italian Air Force to fly over and drop several hundred tons of lettuce and a few dozen tons of tomatoes, turning the Channel into a giant Italian salad.)
thanks for the additional info. every bit counts
