I loss my father to heart disease. He was 48. I had just graduated from college. Many years later this incident, Russert’s passing, has ripped the scab from my wound that has never healed and will never heal. I know the pain, the loss, the depression the isolation, the horror. Mr Russert is gone now, but the pain and hurt will last for life, for his family. If I had the power to take all the pain away I would. Loss has a nasty habit of stifling growth when the trauma is so severe. No words can describe the loss and pain this family feels now……..

Poor man. Died young. Main spear carrier for Danny Pat Moynihan in
politics, Nixonian “consensus”, his working class somewhat better than
someone else’s to many. Professional, bowling alley main stream that
sold like mother’s milk on the tele… likely to be replaced by someone
much less principaled at that. Instability in the press coverage of the
upcoming election was likely and will be enhanced by his passing, the
corporate types will have a hard time replacing him… sorry for his
passing and condolances to his family, too young he was for death.

I cried today when I heard.

Tim Russert was playing a major role in this election that many here seem not to realize.

He was not just the honest narrator of this election.

He was committing his washington bureau and nbc news to covering the election at the highest leve…to cover the issues and present other aspects important to the american voter ie WHAT IS GOOD PRESIDENTIAL CHARACTER.

to that end he He invited Doris Keanrs goodwin to discuss the charcter traits of thegreat opresidents so we the american voter whould know how to judge our nominees and not be swayed by the frauds and ugly lies of a negative political campaign.

I NEVER heard another newsman this year or any other question whether the media could cover this election
on the issues that were important and not allow the press to be lead around by it’s nose.

We have lost the real fact checker in chief.

There is no one of his stature who could question an election process gone awry as this one most certainly will.

I mourn for him, and my bleeding country.

Tim knew the stakes for the country this time around. We lost a patriot and an influential truth teller.

I have been as angry about some of his MTP sessions as many of you, but i am not so blinded not to realize that this man like you and I knew what happened in the last 8 years and was going to do his best to make sure this election was real and fair and use his position and influence to make sure it happened.

He worked with Moynihan and Cuomo…he was no fool and as bright, astute and patriotic as any of us here.

We lost a great citizen.

I agree! I just had a troll on my blog say, “Kay, there are lots of people you hate who are good fathers”. He said this after I said in my post that I hadn’t agreed with Russert since 2000 (when Georgie was selected) because of the way he protected the Fascist Pigs and went on to say that Russert was a good father & husband and to me that is an A+. I also noted when Jerry Falwell died. I told the troll that I hate neocons and could care less if they’re a good father or not. They’re despicable human beings if you ask me!

How sad. And to think just a few weeks ago on FDL I was calling Russert an evil name because he was looking weird. LOL That said, I was often disappointed with Russert in not asking the tough questions or pushing for the CORRECT answer…okay, maybe pissed off, but hearing of his death today makes me sad for his family & friends. Fifty-eight is way too young to die. Sad, very sad.
