He was 48. I had just graduated from college. Many years later this incident, Russert’s passing, has ripped the scab from my wound that has never healed and will never heal. I know the pain, the loss, the depression the isolation, the horror. Mr Russert is gone now, but the pain and hurt will last for life, for his family. If I had the power to take all the pain away I would. Loss has a nasty habit of stifling growth when the trauma is so severe.
